ICloud rejects CORRECT password when logging in

Every time I log in to my computer (or restart), I get a window that asks me for my iCloud password.  Even though I enter it correctly, the window “wiggles” and clears out the password.  Multiple attempts to re-enter the password results in the same symptoms.  I’ve even reset the password and tried with this new password and the same thing happens.  The only way to make the window go away is to click on Cancel, not once, but twice.  I know the password is correct, because I can go to iCloud.com and log in successfully.  That same password also works with my Apple ID any time a password is requested, further reassuring me that I’m using the correct password.  Why is it continually being rejected at login?

I have this too. I had it for Facetime, but I logged out of it, but to log out of icloud i need to go into System Preferences, but it crashes every time i click on the Icloud icon. But only crashes for Icloud, everything else works fine.

You're sure you are entering the correct admin password?
And you are logged into your admin account to install Mavericks, correct?

    Welcome to the Apple community.
Start here, change your country if necessary and go to reset password.
However, you may wish to wait before doing this and try again later, there have been a number of recent report about email not working properly, it may well be that there is currently a server problem.

  • OSX rejects correct password on boot (but nowhere else)

    Hello all,
We've recently updated several Early2008 MBPs (Snow Leopard) to Late2013 MBPs (Mavericks).  With these new machines, OSX intermittently (more than 90% of the time) rejects correct login passwords from cold boot (when unlocking FileVault2 images), but nowhere else.
    OSX never rejects passwords when:
    -waking from sleep.
    -authenticating in OSX environment
-unlocking FileVault2 images from warm boot (restart, from either Windows or MacOS)
-administrator password is shorter than 17 characters (machines only exhibit this issue if passwords are 17 characters or longer; we can shorten our passwords and then the issue goes away, but comes right back if we make the passwords longer.
-Password length does not matter when cold boot logging in as a standard user account (not an administrator).
    Typical machine details:
-Updated from 10.6.8 to 10.9.x, then to 10.9.4.  Note: we cannot upgrade to 10.9.5 until it is verified by our certification lab.
    -Using FileVault 2.
-Migration Assistant was NOT used.  Relevant files were copied over.  Fresh install from Apple.
-Passwords are alphanumeric only, with numbers, capital and lowercase letters.
-OSX Server is not used in our environment.  Run of the mill Mavericks.
-Key repeat rate set to 'fast' (only set when in userland).  Delay until repeat is 'short'
-firmware lock enabled (note: issue still persists when disabled)
    Example:
    0. Machine is off.
    1. On first boot, admin attempts to log in and 24 digit password is repeatedly rejected.  It does not matter how slowly password is entered.
Note: It is difficult to verify password length after the first 16-20 digits, as the GUI is only wide enough to display that many (?) characters.  Arrow keys are used to verify password length.
    2. After successfully logging in, admin successfully enters password on first try numerous times throughout workflow.
    3. Admin restarts (warm boot) and successfully enters password on first try (every time).
    4. Repeat
    Workaround:
    A. Create a dummy standard user account with 20 character password.
    B. on cold boot, login as standard user.
    C. log out and then log back in as admin user.
    Unacceptable workarounds:
-Use admin password less than 16 characters (company policy requires 20 characters or more for admin accounts).
    Questions:
-Does the computer time need to be correct to successfully unlock a FileVault2 image?
-Do these new MBPs not have a persistent time tracking device (like the old ones)?  Our machines often have the incorrect time until they can sync with time.apple.com
-What is different about warm versus cold FileVault2 booting?
-Has anyone else seen this behavior?

Thanks for your comments.  I imagine this issue hasn't been reported because:
    -most people don't use FileVault
-most people don't use passwords longer than 16 characters
-most people assume they're just not entering their password correctly*
I, too, haven't seen any other reports of this behavior.  We've disabled and reenabled FileVault2 on multiple machines without resolving the issue.
*This is going to date me a bit, but as a troubleshooting step, we typed the password '37fhGBdh6UniqueGalaxy7' onto a USB-connected AlphaSmart 2000 (with key type speed set to 'Very Slow').  We then created a new admin user account on a sterile machine and used the AlphaSmart to enter the password.  We then performed several tasks that require admin password and verified that the AlphaSmart reliably enters the password once logged in.  However, we still see the same behavior only during cold boot... the password is 'incorrect' a majority of the time.
I'll keep trying to isolate this issue, but I imagine it's similar to the bug in earlier OS versions where only the first 8 (and later, 16) digits are handled properly.

  • Ipod touch rejects correct password for home wifi/router

My ipod touch can get unsecured wifi ok (sometimes, which is another discussion) but when I set up a Linksys wireless router at home, my laptop is able to use the wireless but the ipod touch sees the router's name, but rejects the correct password. (I did doublecheck the password by going into the IP address for the Linksys.) Why would my ipod touch not be able to access my own secured network when using the correct password? So I spent some time with Linksys on the telephone and they had me put a long number that they saw in the wireless security tab into the password line. Now there is a check beside my router's name, but I get the message "Safari cannot open the page" when I try to surf. The error was: Operation could not be completed. Invalid argument". I tried a couple more apps (Weather channel, google map, facebook) and the time circle just keeps going around. Why is my ipod touch not working, here?

Does the iOS device connect to other networks?
Does the iOS device see the network?
    Any error messages?
    Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on the router
    - Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings

  • Invalid User Name and Password when logging onto BPM Workspace (v9.3.1)

    I have installed Hyperion Planning and the related/required products. When I attemp to log on to Workspace, I get the following message;
'You must supply a valid User Name and Password to log onto the system."
I have tried using the native 'admin' account, and an NTLM account that I have setup. Both of these accounts work for logging onto the the User Management Console and to the Essbase Administration Console, and I have provisioned both of them with full admin privileges.
    Has anyone encountered this issue?
    Thanks,
    -K

Thank you all for the responses so far.
On the first response, I had already provisioned an NTLM user that is a member of the local Administrators group with all administrative roles, and also refreshed security in EAS prior to submitting this inquiry, so that did not solve the problem.
On the second, I cannot navigate to ../workspace/browse/configinfo without logging in so I am unable to review this information.
On the third response, where do you provision the user to BI+? If I open the User Management Console, there are four root roles each with a tree underneath: APS 9.3.1 Server, Analytic Servers, Business Rules, and Hyperion Shared Services. Under each tree, I have provisioned the 'admin' user and the NTLM user for all roles, including Administrator, Dimension Editor and Application Creator under Hyperion Shared Services -> Global Roles. Should there be a BI+ tree? If so, it is not appearing on the list.
Thanks for any additional info anyone can provide.

  • Why does iCloud keep demanding password when using mail

I am using Mail for my various email accounts but the two imap accounts (AOL and iCloud) frequently get into a mode of demanding the password when Mail is launched. It might take up to 10 inputs to stop 'looping' the demand for the password. Any suggestions?  Thanks in advance

Your profile may be out of date - this is the Lion forum.
I occasionally get a request to verify my account, but it usually occurs after the computer wakes up from sleep. And it is very very rare.

Now 12 hours without mail. I have payement pending and they are all PaperLess going thru my Mac mail.
PLEASE MAC!  fix this ASAP . Thank you

After almost  5 days without email on my iMac computer and iPhone 4S, the problem seems to be gone by itself.
Corry a MobileMe Senior Advisor did replied to me that he will be taking on this case. That night my problem
was gone without any help from Apple ? coincidence or just luck ?
Unfortunately I cannot explain how it was solved, so I can't really share anything helpful to the community but
I am sure Apple knows the problem and discretely fixing it.
I will monitor mail activity on both devices and counter check using iCloud running Safari web browser.
If anything looks suspicious or I have any kind of discrepancies I will get back to the community.
In the mean time I did ask Corry to acknowledge all of the other users with the same problem as me on the Apple Community.
    Thank you

  • TS3276 Mac Mail rejecting correct password for incoming only

My e mail has suddenly started rejecting my password even though it is correct. I can send but cannot receive e mail. This has never happened before but I have no incoming messages on either my Mac or my iphone.

My e-mail account won't connect in Mail (although I can open it fine on the web), even though I repeatedly put in the correct password.

Open Mac Mail then Command ,  (comma) to open Mail Preferences.
Select the Accounts tab then the Account Information tab.
Type in the correct password under Incoming Mail Server.
    Try your email account.
If that didn't help, open Keychain Access located in HD > Applications > Utiliites
    Select Passwords on the left.
Use the search field top right corner of the window to locate your email keychain then control click the keychain then click Delete.
Go back to the Mail Account Information window and re type the password under:  Incoming Mail Server.
You should be prompted to save that data to a new keychain.
