Icloud ruined my life
I'm sure it was user error somewhere down the line, but i have a terrible situation and i just dont know how to rectify it.
I have an Iphone 4 and a recently acquired ipad2. I sync these with my pc via itunes using usb. everything has been great until i decided to try and use icloud so that i could sync my calendar between all threee devices.
the main problem i am facing is with my outlook 2010 which i use for businesds use . basically i ended up with lots of duplicated items. i have over 2000 contacts in there and it also doubled up on the tasks for each contact. i deleted icloud from each of my devices as i just didnt get a very good feeling from it at all.
Then my outlook ended up with duplicated tasks. It was really messy so i though i know i'll sync with my iphone so it bbrings it back to normal.
Now my outlook is much tidier but each contact is missing hte telephone number.
Here is the problem :
Outlook database is now missing recent activity like notes and tasks as well as phone numbers
Iphone database is same as outlook i.e. missing pohone numbers
ipad has phone numbers
How can i sync all 3 so they arecomplete records as they were before i used icolud. i dont have a backup of my pc
To be honest dude, I'd give up on it. Three times over, iCloud has shagged my machine.
Initially it buggered up my address book, which resulted in missing data and two days of h*ll trying to put it right. I gave up then but thought I would try again a few months down the line. Same thing happened, grrrrr! I swore I would never use it again and moved on.
I tried again, stooooopidly, the other night, to see if things had improved. At first everything "just worked" but within 24 hours, my calender was buggered, locked in on Birthdays, and no way of getting back my inital calender. Furthermore, even when I discontinued the iCloud service, it was syncing back and forth.
My advice; ditch it if you haven't already, it really is a bag of sh*te!
Stick to good ole iTunes and a USB sync. Safer, quicker and overall less hassle.
Best of luck.

ICloud ruined my life- how can I escalate this case further!!!
The unthinkable has been hande to me by Apple.
iCloud corrupted 40% of my documents. Then 'reset' the remaining 60%
100% of my documents erased by Apple. This has taken 8 months of my life away, the apple care process has been woeful. So many Senior Advisors said they would 'take ownership of the case' and 'call me back'. Nothing, no call back- I am forced to call up again- explain the case again- be promised again by another Senior Advisor that they would 'take ownership of the case' and 'call me back'...
I am left shattered.
This was a few months ago- i have lost huge amounts of irreplaceable research generated from over 2000 hours of my own personal work.
It was not backed up to my mac book as it was rendered inoperable when i 'upgraded' to OSX Lion.
I did all my work for 8 months on my ipad. All documents were created and stored locally on my ipad. I had no access to my LaCie external because my macbook was inoperable.
It was recommended by Apple Genius that I turn on icloud for Documents. iCloud then corrupted the documents and synced that corruption back to my documents locally stored on my ipad.
I could then see all the images in pages documents view. But could not open them- that was for about 40%of my documents. I could still access the other 60%
My account was then referred to the iCloud engineers. After a few weeks with no contact from apple I called up to chase up this loss of my documents- it had been going on for 7 weeks at this point.
The senior advisor told me that my account had been 'reset' and should be working fine now..
WHAT!!!! Reset!!!?????? so what about the 60% of docs that i had access to?
Gone. Deleted from the icloud account, synced back to my ipad.
All Gone.\
If i had been contacted by the engineers. 'We cannot fix your corrupted documents. We propose to reset your account. That will erase all data and documents in your account. Is this ok? Please backup any documents you have on your ipad.'
This would have saved 60% of my 8 months research- which is a lot.
but no- no contact, just reset my account and erased my documents.
its unbelieveable and unthinkable.
I am a MASSIVE apple fan- i have 22 Apple devices and tell everyone in my network that all my dreams have come true with Apple- ridiculing them for using other devices. It has now turned into a nightmare.
I WENT TO THE APPLE STORE IN SYDNEY IN DESPARATION- TO FIND OUT IF THERE WAS AN IMAGE OF THE DOCUMENTS SOMEWHERE/ANYWHERE!!! I KNOW THEY CAN ONLY CONTACT ICLOUD IN THE SAME WAY AS ME- BUT WHAT OPTIONS DID I HAVE- I COULDN'T ESCALATE THROUGH APPLE ANY HIGHER- THEY TOLD ME THAT THE SENIOR ADVISORS AND ENGINEERS WERE AS HIGH AS I COULD ESCALATE. SO I WENT TO THE APPLE STORE AND TOLD THEM THAT I WOULD NOT LEAVE THE STORE UNTIL IT WAS RESOLVED- THEY TOLD ME THEY COULDN'T HELP ME- I STAYED FOR 8 HOURS- AFTER 1.5 HOURS WE FOUDN OUT THAT THE ENGINEERS LIKENED TRYING TO RESTORE MY DOCUMENTS TO TRYING TO REBUILD A BURNT DOWN HOUSE.
We were about to release our energy saving App globally. I had a meltdown and just went away on holiday to New Zealand and Thailand with my kids- I couldn't face the reality of what i had to do to recover.
I came back to try and get back on track recently. My only way forward was to forget about it and start again.
AND THEN!!!
I stupidly used pages on my ipad to edit a document from our development partner the other day. I opened my pages today, the document was there- then in front of my eyes all the documents shuffled around. Guess what- the doc I had edited disappeared.. In shock i called Apple Support. He asked me to check on icloud. com. 15 documents, not the one i want, advisor can see my doc- i cannot. I feel naseous.
THIS CASE HAD ALREADY GONE TOO FAR. BUT NOW I HAVE HAD ENOUGH!!!!!!
How can i escalate further? There must be a way. This is not acceptable! Apple are messing with my life!!!!! I'm losing too much time and money- it's just not fair at all. Something MUST be done by way of compensatiing for this series of errors!!!!There's nothing anyone here can do for you, and I'm afraid I have little sympathy.
2000 hours of "irreplaceable work" and at no point during those 8 months did you think "Gee, I really should back up all these hugely important files just in case my iPad gets stolen, lost, breaks or some other disaster occurs"?
As soon as you noticed something was amiss, or even at the point when you still had access to 60% of your documents, why did you not take the opportunity to download a copy of them via iCloud.com (on any computer) and save them safely on a memory stick or other backup device?
Having just one copy of any file is asking for trouble. Backing up regularly is the No.1 rule of computing. Apple is not responsible for your lack of any backup routine. Apple advise you to backup regularly. Being able to backup your iPad should've been your motivation for spending an hour or two of those 2000 getting the MacBook up and running. -

See I'm a Former Verizon Wireless Employee with Billing Issues That Ruined My Life<<
Message was edited by: Verizon ModeratorSorry to hear about your collections mishap, just keep in mind this is a peer to peer forum for customers and you likely will not receive the help you are looking for from Verizon.
Now you say that the account went to collections and you have paid it. So at this point I am not sure what you can negotiate anymore. I've read that if you have something in collections and tell the collecting company that you will pay them if they remove the negative mark from your credit, they will negotiate it with you.
In this situation, if things are as you say and you did not receive the final bill at the correct address, then you may have an argument to take to the credit bureaus. I would file a report with the credit bureaus and see where that takes me, also once your account goes to collections to my knowledge it doesn't have anything to do with Verizon anymore. The debt is between you and the collections company. I would try to contact them and see if you can somehow negotiate having the collection removed from your credit report seeing as the debt has been settled and the bill was never sent to your correct address.
I haven't really ever dealt with an account in collections, so this is just some helpful information I have thought of, if anything is not accurate in how you can deal with this, I apologize. -

Mavericks ruined battery life - Tracking down the cause? Mismatched RAM?
My 2011 MacBook Pro 13" is only at 245 out of 1000. My battery life was easily 7 hours until I upgraded to Mavericks. Now I'm lucky to see 5. Right now I'm sitting at 4 and I just barely took it off the charger.
No I'm not running a crapload of apps. Currently, Safari and Mail are the only ones open. I used to run lots more apps on Lion and still acheive 7 hours battery life.
I have disabled a number of background process such as automatic updates and the like. My Bluetooth is off. My infrared remote receiver is off. All in all, I consider myself decently adept at keeping thigns running efficiently.
I'm stumped. Could it be that I am running mismatched RAM sticks? I have 10GB total, 2GB+8GB.
I've done lots of reading, this issue seems to hit people at random. Some people report almost 9 hours of battery with Mavericks, others report that their battery performance has taken a hit.
Could this issue be related to the slow-sleep issue that lots of Mavericks users are experiencing? (Search com.apple.iohideventsystem.queue.tickle in Google; this process is causing a lot of sleep-grief for people)
Is there a terminal command that shows what is going on with my battery?Forgot to mention, I tried a SMC reset. Twice. No change.

I bought my daughter an ipod touch for her birthday.
someone she does not know added her to an MMS message - along with 20 other kids. now her iphone continuously receives messages from this group at all hours at night.
we have contacted the group - but no one seems willing to stop using the same message thread.
we don't know who originally started the thread.
please help. I'm about ready to throw her ipod in the garbage. So it's an iPod Touch 4th gen? Might be a good idea to update your profile with that information.
Message blocking was only introduced with iOS 7. I am not aware of any way to prevent these messages from reaching her without changing her Apple/iTunes/iCloud ID, and doing that can have its own issues if she has ever purchased anything from iTunes.
Sorry,

At least my love life. I said goodnight over the phone to boyfriend last night, but before retiring for the day I did a few last tasks online. Since AT&T network was sllloooowwwwww, I got on my Wi-Fi connection. After a good 20 minutes, I turned the Wi-Fi off and then ALL **** GOT LOSE! I had 2 text messages waiting for me (from bfriend), and the last one was quite angry for ME ignoring HIM! Supposedly, he called 4 times in that 20 minutes while I was online from my iPhone, but my phone did not make any indications that I had incoming calls! It didn't ring, the missed calls haven't showed up, and all the calls went to my voicemail, which I only could see after I turned off the iPhone, then turned it back on.
Unfortunately, it's not an isolated case. I lost business because I haven't received text messages, calls didn't come through and I didn't even had to be online! I called At&T and they said they fixed the problem, but now they are saying that even you pay for phone/text and the internet, please don't use then at the same time because it won't work! COME AGAIN???
What can I do to prevent anything remotely close to this happening to me again? Is there any way I can keep this darn iPhone, and not get duped? I might have to consider turning to a competitor. I can't rely on running a business (and my life!) on such bad foundations...You should start checking these threads out

A serious error has occurred or how the 7.1 update ruined my life.
Ever since the 7.1 update to Premiere, I've had nothing but problems. The desktop app fails to update for every update, and appears to think it's out of date when it's not and then the icon in the menu bar will be grayed out until I reboot 3-4 times. The "workaround for that seems to be to force quit and uninstall the "previous" version and then download the "new" version from the creative cloud web portal. This wouldn't be that large of an issue, but it happens almost every other day.
Then once I can actually open Premiere, the real fun with errors begins. I have received the "A Serious Error has occurred" screen on 30-40 (not exagerating) delightful occasions in the past couple of weeks, with no real details of what is actually wrong. It usually occurs while trying to fix an issue where my multi-clips aren't showing the audio waveforms in the sequence, but it has happened plenty of other mysterious ways. This is even more complicated, because it's happening on multiple systems and one of them isn't even using the 7.1 update and another is offsite and using different hardware. The same annoying error occurs across them all.
Another super cool "feature" is that Mercury Playback Engine capabilities come and go as they please. Sometimes they work for Premiere or Media Encoder or After Effects, but sometimes they just pick one for that given day and don't let the other apps playback. All of the systems GPU were working just fine in 7.0.1, but now wtf Adobe?
My system specs are varied, but the general idea is this:
Mac Pro systems (4,1-5,1) 2.3GHz - 2.93GHz
16-24GB RAM
Nvidia QuadroFX 4800, Nvidia QuadroFX 4000, Nvidia GeForce 9800
OS X 10.7.4 and 10.7.5
A few of the systems have AJA Kona 3 and Kona 3G
Most of the media is being accessed across 10gigE to a ProMax Platform, and the project files are local on SSD's.
I have the bug report from Apple, so if that helps let me know so I can get that info to someone who cares.Hi Kevin,
I'm still planning on attempting the 10.8.5 install on one of the affected systems. In the process, I have uncovered a new issue related to the CUDA acceleration not being there at all on a system that used to have it. That particular Mac Pro system only has a GeForce GT120, but the point is that in CS6 and CC, the CUDA was working until this latest update. The other systems have QuadroFX 4000 and 4800 cards, so those seem to be getting CUDA playback, however it is intermittent.
As for the OS X 10.7.4 not allowing me to install 7.1... That is correct. The Creative Cloud Desktop app was failing updating itself (as it still does on every "update") quite a bit, I don't remember any specific messages, but I did see somewhere along the process that I wasn't able to install the Premiere 7.1 update with my 10.7.4. One of the systems here is have a ton of issues with AE, but that's a whole new thread I think. I will attach some of those errors for kicks, but all of these problems occured with the introduction of the virus that is Creative Cloud into our working environment.
I am working with a wide variety of media: R3D, 5D, F55 4K XAVC, Canon C-300, XDCAM EX, FS-100, ProRes. The projects that I've been having the most issues with lately has the Canon C-300 .MXF media mixed with 5D h.264 as a 2 camera multi-cam set up. The other project that was giving me a lot of trouble right when I installed the Premiere 7.1 update was R3D and F55 4K XAVC. Both issues were the "A Serious Error has occurred. Premiere will try and save your project" vague warning. I usually only lost work since the last Autosave 20 minute interval, but sometimes that is a lot of work and when it happens 10 times in one day, that is unacceptable.
Here are some answers to some more of those questions:
What other software are you running?
These are all possible conflicting software (IMO) that are installed:
Final Cut Studio 3
Avid Symphony 6.0.3
Cinema 4D R14
RED CineX
Davinci Resolve
Nuke7
Adobe CS5.5 and CS6 are still installed
Do you have any third-party effects or codecs installed?
Yes. Trapcode Suite, Primatte, lots of scripts in After Effects. Lots of codecs installed from Sony, Avid, RED, Canon, etc.
I think I've answered most of the other questions in this thread, but hopefully that helps. I will update when I'm able to get 10.8.5 installed. I suppose a clean install of 10.7.5 perhaps might have the same chances of fixing this as well.
Here is the Premiere Error:
Here are a series of AE errors, that might need their own thread: -
Hello,
I recently changed my data plan a few months ago to the 6 GB Data plan with 2 phones tied to my service when I upgraded my phone to the Samsung Galaxy 5. For the most part my wife and I have been doing pretty good at keeping the our monthly data usage down to the 6 GB. On Nov 4th was I upgraded to the new 10 GB my everything plan and ever since that change, my account has been making RANDOM data charges at all hours of the night! I pulled both my wife's Data Usage report and my own and compared them.
Looking at my wife's data usage below, you can clearly see that there are automated data spikes that her phone went through on the same exact time on different days! Looking at the dates, these spikes did not start to automatically occur until we upgraded our plan on Nov 4th. The same goes for my data usage below. There are multiple days that my phone surged on the same exact time with large spikes of data! These reports were organized by largest "Unbilled Data Usage" spikes.
These spikes SHOULD NOT be occurring and have nothing to do with what apps we have installed our phones. We have both filtered our usage by apps on our phones and they do not add up. What's the point of having a larger data plan, if that data plan just steals MG randomly off your phone for no reason??? Because of these spikes, I have add to pay over $100 in overage fees and in November, I have already had to buy MORE DATA ($20 for 5 GB more) because I was already at 90% of my usage with 2 weeks still to go in the billing cycle! I need actions and not suggestions. I'm not the only one with these problems and this needs to be addressed.
Please help!!!!!
(Wife's Data Usage)
(My Data Usage)You're right, data usage can be confusion...especially when your response above doesn't make sense.
If data usage is counted in 6 hour blocks, then how in the world did Nov. 5th last 138 hours??? Data was calculated 23 times on 11/5/14 and 14 times on on 11/4. These are just 2 examples of when the data was pulled in in "6 hour blocks of time". Nearly every day in my pulled report this month shows 2 dozen or more times the data was recorded and billed each day. (see below)
Further more, if data usage actually was counted in 6 hour intervals, that still doesn't explain why my phone randomly surged 1.27 GB of data at 5:36 AM in the morning on 11/12/14. Even if this counted data since 11:36 PM the night before on 11/11/14 night, there's no way I would have used this much data! Since I work during the weekdays 9-5, I am already in bed at this time and not using my phone. And it can't be recorded data usage after 5:36 AM, because then what would be the point of having a time stamp in the report? Where was this data coming from??? (see below)
The timing of my spike in data is just way too coincidental of when I upgraded my data to 10 GB earlier this month. If you compare our data usage against other months (when I had 6 GB) we didn't have random spikes like we are seeing now. There is something wrong with the new data plan on our phones, and I really wish someone could clearly point out where these additional charges are coming from. Please have a representative contact me at your earlier convenience.

Hard drive constantly running and ruining battery life
Hello,
I recently got an x200s from a legit ebay lenovo seller that came with an upgraded 500gb 7200rpm hard drive.
The problem is that the hard drive is running at All times. I can tell from the sound as well as slight vibration. Even with the lowest power settings, and just letting it idle, it runs. I tried playing with the power manager, and having the hard drive stop activity after 30 seconds of inactivity, it keeps running. I turned off indexing on the c as well as the lenovo back up drive, its still running. The hard drive activity light is only flickering, and the processes seem totally normal. What is up?
I'd say this also has to be the reason i'm only getting like 2 hours with the 4 cell and very low power settings, which is unacceptable.
Any thoughts?
Thanks guysNah...if you choose a less-than-sensible setting in BIOS, an arm holding a hammer will come out of the LCD and smack you...that's a part of ThinkVantage that only a few people know about...
How many processes do you have running on a freshly booted machine?

I HAVE to get this animation done, or my boss will KILL me. The animation itself is finished, and has been for a long time. The problem lies in the exporting/publishing of the file because whenever I tey, Flash crashes, but I can still save my work. There is no way of even exporting it on another computer because all of the ones in the studio are CS3 and I have Cs5.5 (as already stated in topic). Even when I can open it on another computer, it still will not export. I get this message EVERY time (see below). Is there any way to fix this? Its a large file, but this is really abboying me, and I do not want to redo my animation all over again. Help me PLEASE. All info is much appreciated.

Why is HP ruining my life? lost all my stock programs like office when they "fixed" it
i am sick of dealing with HP. i sent my computer in to get fixed and the audio is still bad and the driver STILL gets stuck and i have not only lost all my data in it (thank god for external hard drives) but the programs that came stock are gone...like my windows office! this is terrible. HP...i paid too much money for this kind of malarky about customer care. someone please actually help me? i wish i had never bought this computer. dislike....
Far too easily as they make no attempt to maintain your data or software as T&C state.
A standard procedure when the machine goes in for repair with intermitant faults or unclear desciption on faults is a factory restore so all your data gone along with Office starter too.
should be easy to get a copy of office 2007 & even 2010 as many low cost promotions can be found & it is far better than the starter. you may even find you have office 2003 bundled on a cd free as I have in the past & it is still a good usable suite.
It is frustrating but quite normal unfortunatly.
Once your setup & runing well worth doing some homework on cloning of main OS partions as makes problems like these obsolete.
Another option is requesting to keep the hard drive (if not a suspected fault) thus preserves your setup & personal data security. Standard procedure with Lenovo service & repair is for customer to keep hard drive & it saves a lot of complaints & hasle for both parties ...

I paid for Acrobat 9, installed it, and now I can't create a PDF. I will now loose a job, lots of money, and I can't back out the change. Adobe has illegally changed my machine's configuration as far as I'm concerned, and has cost me significant money. I'm not happy, and will now work hard to stop using all Adobe products. I can't support a company that treats me this way.
Just to make sure you know, we are not Adobe. But we are here to try and help.
How are you trying to create a PDF?
