ICloud Service Outage?

Last night [2013-Mar-6 2100PST]  I lost data from Address Book.
This morning [2013-Mar-7] mail failed delivery, mailbox offline due to forced password reset "due to security".  Attempted password reset, but correct responses to security challenges were rejected.
Phoned Apple Support.  Response: "they're having trouble over on iCloud. Known problem. Estimated time to repair one hour"
That is all.

I had the same problem (with a few other complications - my Apple ID password was reset and now I can't access my apple account, e-mail, iCloud, anything).  I've heard from people who have had the same problem for as long as 2 months, and were told that Apple didn't know what was wrong.  So if they're actually working on this, I'm overjoyed.  And I'd love to hear the solution.

  • Notes (Mac) Crashes during 'Updating' after iCloud Service Interruption

After the recent iCloud service interruption that lasted 24 hours (http://tidbits.com/article/13253 - pfft less than 1% of users affected my a**...) I can no longer open Notes on my MBP without it crashing. Any ideas for how to resolve this issue? I have tried unchecking notes in iCloud settings then reopening the app, then quiting, checking notes, and reopening with no luck, I restarted my mac with no luck, now I have no idea what to do...
To make this a bit clearer:
iCloud Service OutageTried opening Notes; couldn't sync due to outage and crashed repeatedly
    iCloud Service Restored
After opening Notes, it undergoes "Updating" and then quits unexpectedly
I have tried unchecking Notes in iCloud prefs with no luck
I have tried restarting my Mac with no luck
    Any ideas??? Thanks everyone!

I managed to solve the problem. For anyone having this same problem, it turns out that it was a Microsoft Exchange account that was messing everything up. Removed that account from syncing notes and it works fine now!

  • Proposed solution to ongoing, indefinite, iCloud mail outage

    Temporary solution as follows:
    https://accounts.google.com/NewAccount
Using google drive is an effective, reliable, means of syncing docs across all devices (not just iWork). Drive app is available on App Store for iOS.

Icloud Mail appears to have been down here in France for the past 3 hours however the Status page continues to show that all iCloud services are operating as normal. It would be really helpful if the status page was more accurate (or should that be more honest?). As it is it I have wasted the past 3 hours checking all confidurationas I control.  If iCloud were a free service lack of candour re outages might be tolerable but when you pay for a service
iCloud is a free service, who are you giving your money too, and for what?

  • ICloud Mail Outage should cause minimal damage

I am among the throngs of disappointed users who finally got iCloud mail service back within the past few hours.
Just a note to everyone that outgoing email servers will typically make attempts at delivery every hour for two or three days before notifying the sender that delivery failed. Given that the outage here was less than two days in duration, everyone should receive all of their emails, albeit with  a significant time delay.
If some impatient servers gave up after one day, then the sender might question the error message and resend the message.
On the whole, email loss should be minimal.
Nevertheless, iCloud service needs to be far more reliable than this for anyone to use it as their primary email account.

I have a similar issue, in that my email has been down since yesterday. None of the test emails I have sent, including one just sent, have shown up. I can sign into iCloud on the web, but it is not synchronized with any of my other devices, nor are any of them synchronized with each other.

So, have you created an iCloud account and is your device connected to iCloud?

  • HT204053 What are the pros and cons of 1) choosing to use the SAME Apple ID for iCloud services on one side, and purchases on the iTunes Store, App Store, and iBookstore, on the other side; or 2) to have and use two separate Apple Ids for these "two sides

All is in the title, so I repeat it below with a better identation.
What are the pros and cons of
    1) choosing to use the SAME
Apple ID for iCloud services on one side, and
purchases on the iTunes Store, App Store, and iBookstore, on the other side; or
    2) to have and use two separate Apple Ids for these "two sides"?
    P.S.
I have loads and loads of free podcasts in iTunes in my iMac, that are certainly more thant the 5 gigas the iCloud provides for free, so I don't want those to go to the cloud. But this is perhaps a different question...
Also need to mention that I have itunes on a mac, a pc and an iphone.
Sorry to look so silly with this question, but I don't get the "big picture".

You need to create a user account for your wife (or yourself depending on who has the current user account). When syncing, each of you should sign in as a separate user, login to iTunes and then sync. I had this problem when my sister got an iPhone. When we did her initial sync, everything on my iPhone showed up on hers. Apple gave me this solution.

  • HT204053 I accidentally bought an 15GB iCloud service, and I want a refund of my money. How can I get my money back? I can't find the email adress to ask for it (I live in Chile. Apple doesnt have a Phone support for this area)

    Please, help me :)

Your best bet would be to try resetting the password to the account that you would like to use via iForgot
Once you log in to that account change the email address to anything, it can even be fake its just a placeholder
After you do that you will be free to change your old email address on your appleID to the new one that is now free to be used as it is no longer attached to the other account.

  • How can I (automatically) import new photos of the photostream on my local disc (Mac)? Don't want to use new icloud service. Simply import.

    New Photo app on Mac.
How can I (automatically) import new photos of the photo stream on my local disc (Mac)? Don't want to use new icloud service. Simply import.
With iPhoto every new photo was automatically imported and saved on my local disk (with "full resolution" that's what I only need). In the new photo app I have still my photo stream and when I move a photo (drag and drop from the photo stream) to a new album it indicates a (plus). My understanding is that the photo is now copied to my local disk. But when I deleted the photo in the photo stream it was also deleted in the album !?
If that is the case I can use the photo stream only until I reach the max of 1.000 photos, then I have to delete photos and I will have no copy left.
How can I "physically" copy a photo of the photo stream to my local disk? I just want to "transfer" all pictures taken with Ipads, Iphones to my central storage on the Mac. Please don't propose to connect it via iTunes (cable) to the Mac.
    Any other suggestions?
    thx
    -Tom

The amazing device cannot do it because no amazing developer has written an app for it.  There is some interest, others have asked, but i have a hunch that the market is fairly limited, and no developer has jumped at the chance just yet.
Any sort of tethered approach means try to feed the material to the pad thru the cck.  Which means the app would have to use the allowed/existing cck pathway in a manner that does not violate the sandbox rules.  That may be the problem.

  • Can I use iCloud services on IOS safari?

When I try to access iCloud thriugh Safari on my IOS 5 mobile devices it show the welcome screen wih a little lock.  iCloud is installed on both the iPad 2 and iPhone 4.  I'm unable to get past this screen.

I'm not talking about Safari on my Mac.  My iDevices don't seem to support iCloud services access.  Since writing my question I found a reply to another thread that seems to indicate that iDevices don't support iCloud services from Safari.  You have to use the appreate iDevice, such as Mail, Contacts, Calendar, etc...

  • Is there a way of viewing iPhoto for iPad Journals or Photostream Pics via the iCloud service?

Is there not a way of viewing either Photostream images or iPhoto for iPad Journals via the iCloud Service?
It seems very odd that you don't seem to be able to do this when they are both touted as using the iCloud service to actually share the images.
    Or am I missing something?
    c.

    Wow, thanks!
Looks like the basic version of LogMeIn will serve my need here very nicely.

Just thought I'd add my solution, I decided to go with WebDAV and I think it actually works better than the iTunes way, the steps are pretty much the same but avoiding the iTunes interface just makes things easier and faster.
I followed this guide but it does have a small mistake in the httpd-dav.conf file, on line 2, where it's WebServer/WebDAV">, it should be <Directory "/Library/WebServer/WebDAV">.
The tricky part is setting permissions which if wrong will give you errors when connecting with the iPad, I opted to set all to Read&Write since my home network has a hardware firewall. Another convenience was to add an alias to the webdav share on the Desktop.
I'm still expecting the call from Apple but even if they fix the iTunes I'm sticking with WebDAV, atleast until I see what's new with iOS5 and iCloud this fall which should bring true sync for documents (I'm hoping that they will offer encryption with my own keys, if not, then I'll probably keep using WebDAV).

  • Why are some iCloud services not syncing with my Mac?

iCloud seems to be syncing just fine between my iPhone 4S (AT&T 4G) (iOS 5.1.1) and my iPad 2 (Wi-Fi + 3G) (iOS 5.1.1), but not with my MacBook Air (Late 2010) (Mountian Lion 10.8.1). Here's a list of iCould services that I've noticed are and are not working:
iCloud mail (@me.com) and Gmail syncs and updates on my computer sometimes. (I get that these might be seperate issues. I think I need to change the "port" on one or both – suggestions?).
Exchange email syncs and updates on my computer most of the time.
Notes syncs and updates on my computer never.
Photo Stream has stopped updating and syncing on my computer altogether (worked for the first few weeks and not for the past few weeks).
iMessage synced with my computer and phone before Mountian Lion released (that is, all incomming iMessages sent to my Apple ID would be recieved at my phone and computer), but I don't think it's worked since.
iCal, Contacts, and Reminders seem to update and sync on my computer all of the time.
Because they're all iCloud services I want to think there is a one common problem – which is why I've created only one thread. But because they are not common to all services, I'm guessing it might be a case by case basis.
Of course I should state all iCloud services are turned on for all devices and computer, and I am using the same Apple ID for them all. Also, all devices/computer are connected to internet via Wi-Fi/4G pretty much all the time. Finally, it's possible there are other issues I've missed—although it seems unlikely since I use them all, all the time)—I think this is a pretty good representation of my problems.
    Thanks for your help!!
    Sarah

For photo stream, if the source of the photos is an iOS device, be sure the photo app used to take the picture has been turned off, not just sleeping.
Have you rebooted the computer?  The router?

I have an early apple tv. Will it support netflix streaming? Netflix does not show on the internet tab on the AppleTV display.
Will my current appletv connect to icloud services, synch, etc.?
Also, what is the size of the current appleTV's hard drive?

    1. No to NetFlix and ATV1
    2. If you mean your ATV1, no.
    3. If you mean your ATV1, there are more than one hard drive size.  If you mean the new ATV2, it doesn't have a hard drive.

Try the standard fixes to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory defaults/new iPod.
If you still have the problem that points to a hardware problem. Yu can make an appointment at the the Genius Bar of an Apple store or try:

icloud service is no longer available for your apple id
    What to do?

    Hello olyska.ua,
Thanks for participating in the Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you're not able to log into iCloud with your Apple ID, and you receive the error message "iCloud service is no longer available for your Apple ID."
You may need to contact iCloud Support directly for help with this situation, as mentioned in the following support document:
    iCloud: Account troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3988
Depending on how you created your Apple ID, you may not be able to create an iCloud account with your current Apple ID. If your Apple ID works in the iTunes Store, App Store, Game Center, FaceTime, or with other Apple Services, your Apple ID should work for iCloud. Also, if you created your Apple ID while you applied for a job at jobs.apple.com, your Apple ID should work for iCloud. If you cannot use your Apple ID with any Apple Services, it might not be compatible with iCloud. Contact iCloud Support for assistance.
    Best Regards,
    Jeremy
