ICloud shared calendars aren't sharing

Hey all!
So a friend sent me an invitation to subscribe to his iCloud calendar. I opened up the email in Outlook 2010 and clicked subscribe and it imported into my Outlook calendar.
But, for some reason it won't show up at all on my iCloud calendar? I tried "refreshing" it with the button in Outlook, but nothing.
I thought, "Well, maybe noen of the calendars are pushing to the cloud..." False. If I make an appointment on my personal calendar it will push to the cloud. Is it just becasue this is a shared calendar? The weird thing is that the subscribe request came THROUGH iCloud.
Anybody know how I can get this to show up on the Cloud and not just Outlook?
Thanks.

I figured it out, albeit at the expense of all my calendars on the Mac.
I went to iCloud in system preferences and unchecked the Calendars box (in a pop-up window, I clicked delete calendars on my Mac by mistake so lost everything! I should have clicked delete the iCloud option). Let's hope my iPhone will help restore normality.
The calendars in the sidebar of iCloud are now showing my personal calendars and not just Home & Work.
Thanks for your help along the way.

  • Users cannot edit a shared calendar of a shared mailbox that was deleted from the cloud and recreated on premise

    Description:
The following example account [email protected] is an on premise AD account being used as a shared mailbox in the cloud. We have discovered that regardless of what we do, not a single user can edit the calendar entries.
The following message is shown in Outlook Click to Run 2013 when an entry. "New appointment" button is also greyed out, including "Calendar Permissions" and some others.
This problem started when the shared mailbox was created wrongly by creating it in the cloud first and we had to delete it and start over. The "in the cloud" user was deleted and the same user was created in AD on-premise with the same account name
and then Dir Synced with the cloud. A license was assigned, a user mailbox on exchange online created and the type was converted to a shared mailbox and Editor rights were defined on the calendar folder for specific users.
    Actions performed:
Action01: gave users Editor rights on calendar folder through powershell
Result01: Rights correctly added and can be seen when get-mailboxfolderpermission is ran
Action02: Opened calendar with Outlook and tried to edit entries
Result02: Error message pops up saying "You don't have permission to create an entry in this folder. Right click the folder and check..."
Action03: Opened calendar with OWA of users
Result03: Users can edit the shared calendar on OWA
Action04: Gave users Full Access permission on mailbox with automapping on
Result04: Users can edit calendar in Outlook
Action05: Gave users Full Access permission on mailbox with automapping off (mailbox no longer visible in outlook)
Result05: Users cannot edit calendar in Outlook
Action06: Removed Full Access permission on mailbox for users
Result06: User cannot edit calendar in Outlook
Action07: Removed [email protected] from on-premise AD, performed dirsync, removed account from ms online using remove-msoluser -removefromrecyclebin
Result07: No trace of the account was anywhere to be found.
Action08: Created new [email protected] account on on-premise AD, assigned o365 license to user including exchange online license
Result08: New empty Exchange online mailbox was created
Action09: gave users Editor rights on calendar folder through powershell
Result09: Rights correctly added and can be seen when get-mailboxfolderpermission is ran
(Note: whenever mailboxfolder permissions are modified for this mailbox it's as if they are ran THREE times in a row, the first time they are applied and the powershell gives immediately 3 exceptions behind this:
An existing permission entry was found for user: [email protected]

Action10: Opened calendar with Outlook and tried to edit entries
Result10: Error message pops up saying "You don't have permission to create an entry in this folder. Right click the folder and check..."
Action11: Tried on a fresh new pc with first time logon
    Result11: did not help
    Additional information:
We have seen this problem with another user which was recreated, when he shares his calendar with others and people get the calendar invite email and click "Open Calendar" they receive a popup "The folder cannot be found".
My first impression points to a corruption/bug in the GAL on exchange online, since we're using o365 for midsize bussinesses we cannot use the AdressList role to expose the adresslist cmdlts for deeper troubleshooting.
    PS:
Issue tested on different computers and with different user accounts, not a single user can edit the calendar of [email protected] when editor rights are given.
Noticed when editing rights for the shared mailbox in powershell after the first confirmation line
Office 2013 is click to run was updated to latest version, version number: 15.0.4659.1001

    Greetings Gil,
I haven't heard of that one.
    Questions:
Does the calendar in question show up in the "Subscriptions" category of iCal?
If you remove all accounts from iCal > Preferences > Accounts and quit and re-open iCal, does the calendar in question vanish? If so, does the calendar come back when you re-input the servers you need into  iCal > Preferences > Accounts?
Can you provide a screen shot of your calendar sidebar.
While you answer those questions, some troubleshooting to try:
Try dragging one of your other calendars above this calendar that won't delete and then quit / re-open iCal and attempt to delete the calendar in question.
    Failing that:
    1. First make an iCal backup:  Click on each calendar on the left hand side of iCal one at a time highlighting it's name and then going to File Export > Export and saving the resulting calendar file to a logical location for safekeeping.
    2. Go to iCal > Quit iCal
    3. Remove the following to the trash and restart your computer:
    Home > Library > Caches > com.apple.ical
Home > Library > Calendars > Calendar Cache, Cache, Cache 1, 2, 3, etc. (Do not remove Sync Cache or Theme Cache if present)
    4. Launch iCal and test.
If the issue persists at this point:
Remove the following to the trash and restart your computer:
    Home > Library > Caches > com.apple.ical
Home > Library > Calendars > Calendar Cache, Cache, Cache 1, 2, 3, etc. (Do not remove Sync Cache or Theme Cache if present)
Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.ical (There may be more than one of these. Remove them all.)
---NOTE: Removing these files may remove any shared (CalDAV) calendars you may have access to. You will have to re-add those calendars to iCal > Preferences > Accounts.
    Hope that helps!

  • Family Sharing Calendar and Mac

I Am currently using a secondary iCloud account to share a calendar between my iPad, iPhone, and Mac and my wife's ipad, iPhone, and Mac. It works great.
Will  moving to a shared calendar under Family Sharing provide anything new or better than what I have today?
I suspect that the shared calendar would not show up on our Mac's until Yosemite.
    Thanks

No, this is working fine for me.
Are you signed into iCloud on all devices? Are you creating the events in an iCloud calendar? Double check that you're not using an "on my Mac" calendar to create appointments.

  • Permissions required to search a shared calendar?

I can view the shared calendar in my Outlook session, but whenever I attempt a search of calendar items, Outlook defaults back to my own mailbox calendar view and returns results that do not contain results from the Shared Calendar.
I have Editor permissions to the calendar.
    Ideas?
    Jason Meyer

    Hi Jason,
Please check the following settings in Outlook:
    1. Click File > Options > Search.
    2. In the Results part, check Current folder.
    3. Click OK to save the settings.
Then we can search the shared calendar by the following steps:
    1. Navigate to Calendar pane, check the specific shared calendar listed under Shared Calendars.
    2. Uncheck all calendars listed under My Calendars.
    3. In the right top corner of the calendar month view, there is a box which we can type the Keywords to Search Shared -Calendar. Alternatively, we can press Ctrl +E to search it.
Then check whether the issue persists.

  • Shared calendar problems on Sun Outlook Sync

    Hi All,
I'm having a few problems with Sun Outook sync ver 7.2.402.1
In Outlook 2003, clicking the calendar icon at the bottom of the left pane, displays the calendar view. Within that calendar view, clicking Open a Shared Calendar displays a dialog that allows the user to enter the user name of a shared calendar. When the user name of a known shared calendar is entered, the error Unable to display the folder. Your profile is not configured to support this operation for this user. is displayed. This occurs also with contacts and tasks.
I am running Windows XP sp2 (fully patched)

    Hi,
Sounds like you are hitting this issue (from the comm-suite-5 connector release notes - bug# 6292026 mentioned is still not fixed unfortunately - http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/819-4432/6n6j7s831?l=en&a=view):

Opening a shared calendar link does not hook into subscription (Outlook 2003).

This is supposedly a Outlook 2003 only issue although I haven't confirmed this.

  • HT203521 In iOS8 I can't turn off shared iCloud calendar alerts. I share iCloud calendars with 3 others and am constantly getting their alarms for upcoming appointments. Settings- Notifications- Calendar- Shared Calendar Changes turns off changes only.

Have had new iPhone 6 for 2 months, using iOS 8.  I share iCloud calendars with 3 others and I am getting bombarded with their upcoming appointment alerts.  There seems no way to turn this off.  I went to Settings->Notifications->INCLUDE(Calendar)->Shared Calendar Changes and turned everything off, but this only blocks alerts about new events or changes to events being added to the calendars, it does not block the 5-minute/10-minute/etc. alarms that go off immediately in advance of the appointment.  There used to be a setting in iOS7 in "Mail, Contacts, and Calendars" way at the bottom to turn off alarms from shared calendars, but I don't see that in iOS8.  Any ideas?

Finally figured this out when I read jodiemcneill 's post about Google calendars.  Thanks!
Reposting the basic idea: to turn off event alerts from shared ICloud calendars, select the Calendar App, then click the "info" (i.e., the circled red 'i') icon next to the shared iCloud calendar to be silenced. Go down to "Notifications" and turn the slider off for "Event Alerts: (Allow events on this calendar to display alerts.)"
For good measure, you can also turn off the slider for "Show Changes" to prevent the calendar from displaying messages when shared events are added/modified/deleted, although this can be done "globally" for all shared iCloud Calendars in Settings->Notifications->Calendar->Invitations (turn off all sliders, click "none" for Alert Style).
This has been a major pain in the ... neck ... for the past 3 months.  So glad to start the new year with a suddnely-much-quieter iPhone 6.

  • Creating item in shared calendar- it disappears when syncs with icloud!

This has been going on for weeks.  When I create a new event on a shared calendar, the edit window closes and I see my appointment listed correctly.  A few moments later, as the "updating..." line appears at the top of the screen, the event's title and time disappears and it reverts to my default calendar at a random time during the day (same date).  I could create 10 events and the moment it tries to sync to iCloud, they are all GONE!  Anyone else notice this from a shared calendar?  FWIW- it doesn't do this when I schedule directly on icloud.com, but I find the interface to be a pain in the neck to use regularly.  All suggestions welcome.
    Thanks!

To change your iCloud ID you have to delete the account, then sign in with the alternate ID.  Before doing this, if you want to keep your data and move it to the new account, go to Settings>iCloud and turn each of your synced data to Off, and when prompted choose to keep the data on your iPhone.  When everything is turned off, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account, the sign back in with your other account ID and turn syncing back on; when prompted, choose merge.
If all your data is already in your other account then you don't need to do this.  Just delete the account from your phone, selected not to keep the data, then sign into the new account, turn on data syncing and if prompted, choose merge.

  • Shared calendars gone after I set up iCloud

My wife and I have a shared calendar. I moved over to the iCloud and now the shared calendar is gone. I tired to re-share the calendar from her calendar that is still on Mobile Me and it would not go through. Is it not possible to share the old MobileMe calendar with an iCLoud calendar?

I was having the same problem as most of you.  I was not able to share my calendars after the move to iCloud from MobileMe, but my wife was.  I am not sure what caused it, whether it was because the calendars were on share with everyone before the move or not.  I did however figure out a way to solve the issue.
1- Open iCal on your Mac, close iCal on the internet (iCloud)
2- On your Mac choose each calendar (right click on name) and choose stop sharing
3- On your Mac choose each calendar ( right click on name), chose sharing settings, then click on button for "only the people you invite", enter person's apple ID/email, click update.
4- reopen iCal calendar on web
5- Choose calendar that wasn't working, now you should have option to add people to share with, and the person you specified in step 3 will already be there.  Hit "resend calendar invitation" (it will be in blue).  The person you sent the invite to will now be able to share your calendar.
Hope this works for all of you the way it worked for me.

  • Calendar app does not show iCloud shared calendars

This is a tricky problem to describe, so bear with me.  Another iCloud user is the owner of a shared calendar, and has invited me, with read/write credentials (ie, it's my wife and my shared home calendar).  In the Mountain Lion Calendar app, the shared calendar shows up in the sidebar list, and the events are physically in the calendar (ie, the "Shared Home" calendar shown here):
But, when i try to create a new event, "shared home" does not show up in my selection list:
Also, if i go back and look at an event that is from the "Shared Home" calendar, it shows up under the generic "Calendar", under "On My Mac":
Now if I edit one of these already created events, it does indeed push back to iCloud, just as if "Shared Home" was the calendar.
But why can't I create a new event under "shared home"?
This is only a problem with the app on my mac.  On the phone, or on iCloud.com it works perfectly.

I have exactly the same problem. The shared calendar will show up on the list to the left if I open it. And if I create an event, I can drag it to this shared calendar. However even if I've done this, when I open the event it shows it as being in a different calender [with a different colour], but still has the right colour for the right calendar when I close the info box. what's going on?

  • Shared calendars are showing up on  iPad and iPhone but not on iCloud or her new MacbookAir, any suggestions?

I just got my wife a Macbook air, and cannot figure out why our shared calendars work with both of our Ipads and Iphones, on my icloud account but not her account or her new air.

Levi G B ... Also found another thread by Davidfromsurfside on 10/14/11 0703A with the same problem. I responded on his thread "I have the same problem. IOS5 on iPad1, iPad2 and iPhone4S all with iCloud on. Lion 10.7.2 installed on my MacBookPro and iCloud set up/on. Any new iCal entry on either iPad or on the iPhone ends up via iCloud on both iPads and iPhone. BUT NOT ON THE MacBookPro. And iCal entry on the MacBookPro does NOT GET SENT to iCloud.com or to either iPad or the iPhone. This is a huge problem for me because I do all my office scheduling on the iPad or iPhone but rely on the MakeBookPro to print out daily client lists. I REALLY need to get this fixed...it is causing major business issues. " No one so far has had a fix....  :(

  • Icloud calendar not alerting shared phone

Hello everyone. Myself and my wife have the iphone 5, we share the icloud work and home calendars, however if i create an event on my phone with an alert 1 hour before it will alert me on my phone but doesnt on my wifes and vice versa, she will create an event with an alert and I wont get it. Any ideas?

You can try (sorry, but that is all I can think of) go to icloud.com and sign in. On your computer, once you open calendar in icloud click settings symbol in bottom left corner and go to advanced. You will see a checkmark for "email me shared calendar updates".

  • Add Zimbra based shared calendar to iCloud?

I'm trying to add a calendar from work (Zimbra based, I don't have admin privileges, and yes it is enabled for delegation for Apple iCal CalDAV client) to my iCloud account so that it updates correctly on my iPod (because I use it like my planner). It works wonderfully with iCal on my MacBook Pro, and before I switched to iCloud, it synced just fine with my iPod. I now have my iPod set to sync with the iCloud acount, so it erased all the calendar info I previously had on my iPod.
I just re-shared the calendar from the work account to my me.com address, but all I get is an email saying that it shared. I've been looking all over the iCloud settings, "add calendar" options, and iCloud help, but cannot find a way to actually get it on to iCloud calendar (everything seems to assume you make the calendar in iCloud and share it with others).
The only thing I can think to do is possible stop syncing my calendar with iCloud and try to only update with my MacBook/iTunes... but was hoping to get it to work correctly with iCloud.
    Thanks!

You can't add shared calendars to the online view of your calendars at iCloud.com.
All you need to do is subscribe to the calendar on each of your computers and devices. Subscribed (shared) calendars do not sync through iCloud and are seperate to your iCloud account.

  • Remove icloud calendar events from Family calendar in Family Sharing

I accidentally imported some events into my Family calendar in icloud and now I can't delete them.  Is there any way to delete all of the entries from the default calendar for Family Sharing?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
A number of users have noted this. iCloud.com is essentially the master (or so I've always assumed), so clearly the events are there and you are just unable to see them. I'd be inclined not to start changing things until a solution is found.

  • ICloud Calendar - Cannot hide shared calendar.

In iCloud i have a shared calendar from another person. However, this calendar can not be hidden. My Calendar can be hidden easily. Is this a known problem? How can we solve that? Thank you very much in advance.

Same problem. Has anyone figured this one out? It makes it difficult to coordinate with others in your workgroup when everyone's schedule is overlapping all the the time.
PS - I am using chrome but on our Safari machines we have the same issue.
