ICloud, should I use my AppleID or my MobileMe ID?

In moving to iCloud, I'm confused as to whether to use my Apple ID, which is a non-Apple email address, or my MobileMe account, which is my Apple connected email account.
Does it matter? If so, with what implications?

I have asked for your email address to be edited out. Post your address in an open thread is a sure way to be bombarded by unwanted email, remember it will be here long after you have resolved your problem, for automated detection software to find.
If you want people to contact you, enable others to see your email address in your profile.

Is this when updating apps or the iPad's iOS version ? If apps then any apps that your daughter downloaded onto the iPad will be tied to her account, so only her account can download updates to those apps (you would need to delete the apps and buy/download them with your own account to be able to download future updates to them with your account) then she could try getting her password reset via http://iforgot.apple.com
If you are trying to update the iOS version on it and she's left it tied to her iCloud account then with iOS 7 and activation lock only her account will be able to re-activate the iPad. She can try getting her password reset via the above iforgot link.

Can't use old appleID for icloud mail on iOS Devices

So I thought I had it beat, finally. I thought I would just make life easy by using my appleID (a nonfunctioning mac.com address with which I have continued to use to make appstore and itunes purchases) to set up icloud, and then create me.com addresses within that account.
I fought with it all day and finally beat it into submission today, after I discovered that the reason I could not sent mail was nothing to do with me or the account, but to do with the smtp servers not functioning as they should. Its all working really well on my computer. It never occurred to me that this would be a problem on my iphone and ipad. These revert to the AppleID which cannot accept email. *Hitting self upside da head*.
Anybody got a suggestion for this particular problem before I run screaming down the road, tearing out my hair and threatening to go Android instead? (j/k)

I guess there isn't one. I've gone back to using my mobileme account and sent out yet another email to my friends to rescind the previous one.
AND discovered that Apple has not taken into account that MERGING contact lists will create duplicates. No option to replace... or to NOT duplicate.

You have to sign out completely and then sign back in.
On a Mac, System Preferences>iCloud and click 'Sign out'.
On an iOS device, Settings>iCloud and click 'Delete account' (this will not delete the account from the server).
Your synced data will disappear from your devices when you sign out, but reappear when you sign back in (give it time).

If we have 3 iPhones, and use the same iTunes for all content, should we use 3 Apple IDs and authorize for all 3 or just use 1 ID?

I want to enable us to share all apps, music, videos and photos, but enable each phone to keep its contacts and history separate. If I use 1 ID, all new purchases will go on the same credit card, which I'm not sure is ideal, but not horrible. Since we use the same computer and iTunes using only 1 appleID, and the phones are new to the equation since it was only iPods before, what is the best way to handle a family with 3 phones that can share all entertainment content, but not all phone-related stuff? I saw that you can use one AppleID for purchases, but another for iCloud. That may be the best solution, but I don't know enough about this yet to move forward yet- migrating from Android...

My iPhone won't arrive for a little while, but my wife already got hers and she wants to set it up now. Using my Apple ID for the purchases, if she starts setting hers up, can she change her iCloud ID to something else quickly? It keeps telling us that we have to sign in with the AppleID first.
Should we just set up an iCloud account via normal internet before trying all this via iPhone?

Bad mistake. You shouldn't have used your Apple ID on his phone. And you made it worse because now the contacts are gone, as you deleted them from your phone, they got deleted on iCloud. Your husband should have his Apple ID.
There is really no way of recovering the deleted contacts unless you backed up using iTunes and even then you will only be able to recover those contacts that were on a call list. Read here:

All purchases are always going to be associated to the ID that was used to purchase/download them.
If you create an ID for your daughter you will want to check everywhere it is used to make sure you are not sharing messages and stuff. These would be iTunes/app store, iCloud, iMessages, and FaceTime.
Go thru settings and find all mention of your ID.

You will need the password. If you can't get it reset via http://iforgot.apple.com (if you remember the answers to the account's security questions then you should be able to reset it via them) then try contacting Support in your country, they should be able to reset it.

I have the same problem - it is maddening. I rely on this iPad for work so this is not just an annoyance! The above solutions of changing the appleid on the device or on the website do not work.
The old email address no longer exists - I haven't used it in a year probably and I no longer have the account. I logged into the appleid website and there is no trace of the old email address so there is nothing that can be deleted or changed there. On the iPad there is no trace of the old email address so nothing can be deleted there either. I have updated the iPad software and the same problem comes right back. Every 2 seconds I am asked to log in using the old non-existent email. The device is currently useless.
The only recent change to anything was the addition of an Apple TV device, which was set up using the correct login and password.
Does anyone have any ideas? The iPad has been backed up to the iCloud so presumably it now won't recognize the current iCloud account? So restoring may notbe an option?

Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change. Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address. You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll. When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud). Try to change your Apple ID back to your old email address (http://appleid.apple.com) in order to set up and activate the phone. After the set up please sign out of iCloud and turn off "Find My iPhone" (Settings > iCloud) - do that on all your devices -, then change your Apple ID to your new address again and then add your iCloud account on you devices again.

You should use the same Apple ID. The same Apple ID must be used in all your devices in order to sync data through iCloud and get the purchases you make in all your devices, for example. Also, you can register your devices to your Apple ID, receiving a better support if you have any problem.

ICloud is stuck with UNKNOWN AppleID --

From an iCloud FAQ -- I need to Quote the Following --
"You'll get all the benefits of iCloud whether you use the same Apple ID for iCloud and Store purchases, or different IDs for each. To change the Apple ID signed in to iCloud or iTunes on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, sign out and use the steps below to sign back in with the updated Apple ID."
The Above procedure Still Needs the OLD AppleID to be used to first sign to the iPad -- The problem I have NOW since
I updated the Main AppleID itself, with both change of ID email address + Change in Password ....
BUT --
The iCloud still keeps throwing Pop-Ups with the OLD AppleID and also does NOT recognise either the OLD Password OR NEW Password !!!
Somewhere here the iCloud AppleID seems to have gotten Messed UP -- I even tried the Route of "Forgotten Password" and Try to RESET
the iCloud Password -- but the Email Link is not arriving at the Email which was the OLD AppleID -- I have tried a few times, looked in the SPAM
folder etc ... Nothing even in the NEW AppleID email address ... so this new Link Sending Email Address has also got tampered with --
I even tried "finding the AppleID" and that returns the message NO AppleID Found !! -- Does NOT recognise the OLD iCloud AppleID Email --
BTW it is quite an OLD Email address, during the time when you could assign a different Text string for the AppleID and it was not
necessary to use the Email Address as the AppleID !!

You can eirther I think go on ITunes or if you can get to settings you would just go to iCloud.
