Icloud slow on web

icloud response through internet explorer on my works high speed fiber internet and at home using google chrome and comcast for internet is very slow. when you create a new entry, there is a lag time. Performance is frustrating. When you enter calendar or task info into googles system, the response is immediate. My expectations have been set by google and apples slow response when entering data into the cloud apps if frustrating. Anyone know of any settings that would help or is this just the nature of apples product?

Same experience here. Have been a loyal fan of MobileMe and now iCloud. Neither of these are as quick as Google which is shame. Will stick with it for a few more months, and then may switch to Google calendar, tasks , email and contacts. Apple needs to fix this soon !

Please answer as many of the following questions as you can. You may already have answered some of them. In that case, there's no need to repeat the answers.
Have you restarted your router and your broadband device (if they're separate) since you first noticed the problem? If not, do that now and see whether there's any change.

How can I log in to icloud on the web from my iPad?

I've set up icloud on my MacBook Pro as well as on my iPad but I can't log into icloud on the web whereas it works fine from my MacBook. All I get on the iPad is three menu items which I've already done. What's wrong?

You can't use mobile Safari on a device to log into icloud.com. To get to your data, you must use the associated apps. For contacts, use the Contacts app. Only with a computer's browser can you log into icloud.com.

Can I use iCloud as a web host

I have no knowledge of iCloud. I have never wanted to have all of my information "out there". So my question is two fold; can I use iCloud as a web host for a webpage I design in iWeb. I'd like to advertise my condo for rental. The second part of my question is; can I only store that portion of information on iCloud, or do I need to share all of my computer info?

iCloud isn't like our old iDisk. It's more about connecting muliple devices to the same shared data.

Outlook 2010 won't sync with iCloud on the web

Outlook 2010 Calendar syncs with the iCloud Calendar in Outlook. Both are visible in Outlook, both are ticked. Calendar Sync is set up in iCloud Control Panel 2 and on settings on my iPhone & iPad. However, appointments don’t show in iPhone, iPad or iCloud on the web.

Here's what I've discovered: Outlook has two "versions," one for iCloud and one that is an Outlook data file ("My calendar"). You can check a box in Outlook to enable either of them (go to the Home tab and expand the navigation pane). The iPad does not sync with the Outlook data file. Anything entered there has to be manually copied to the iCloud version of Outlook in order to sync with iPad. So, to sync with iPad you have to uncheck "My calendar" in Outlook and then check "iCloud" and use that version of Outlook. But when I use the iCloud version, Outlook will not accept appointments sent to me by clients. It also screws up my communication with clients in other ways. So using the iCloud version of Outlook does not work for me.
I've discovered a third-party software that seems to solve this issue: Code Two Sync for iPad. You can Google it for reviews, the download link, etc. I downloaded and installed it and it immediately copied (synced?) all the appointments in the Outlook data file version of Outlook ("My calendar") to the iCloud version and synced them with my iPad. There were a bunch of duplicates, but I think there's some way to fix that. However...it also crashed Outlook on my computer (I have an older computer that is having issues). So I needed to uninstall it. I repeat, this is because my computer has been having other issues, I don't think it is the software's fault. I may try it again when I have more time to troubleshoot. Anyway, you might try this software and see if it works for you.

If you want to view your photos from a computer, you should do so via iPhoto, Aperture or the photo folder assigned to photo stream.

Slow DNS web resolution

I've noticed the DNS resolution for web services on our network has become a little slow.
The log is showing the below (for example):
success resolving 'www.jamesallenonf1.com/A' (in 'jamesallenonf1.com'?) after reducing the advertised EDNS UDP packet size to 512 octets
Any ideas what this could be caused by and if it would explain the slowing of web page resolution?

I would imagine that the DNS resolver on OS X client doesn't bother to do a DNS-SEC lookup, and hence no issue.
This was evident in another line of the log:

I created a rule in the hardware firewall to forward port 53 to the SLS and its running fine now with no errors.

Web page loading is really up to your internet connection unless you have a very old computer with low power CPU.

Thanks Nik and Roger. I think we've all come to the same realization: the new Pages will not attach documents to e-mail without going through Cloud. If you don't want to give your files to Apple to keep in its Cloud (which I assume the NSA has access to through a back door), then you can't use the new Pages.
If, like me, you downloaded the new Pages and used it to work on a document, before realizing you couldn't attach it to e-mail, then when you saved that document it was saved in the new Pages. If you later delete the new Pages (as I did) and go back to using an older version (which you can find in your iWorks file on your hard drive), then you discover that the older version of Pages won't open a document that you worked on and saved with the new Pages.
Nik and Roger have found the solution, if you keep the new Pages. If you delete the new Pages (as I did) then I had to accept the loss of any work I did on my documents using the new Pages, and began over using the latest version of my document that I had saved with the older Pages.
All in all, this has really soured my tase for Apple. If I hadn't recently bought a new MacBook Pro, I'd be switching to a PC now. I refuse to let Apple bully me into using their Cloud.

ICloud on the web is missing events on iCal, iPhone and iPad

I am using iCloud to sync 3 calendars between my Mac, iPhone and iPad. Bizarrely, all of the events are perfect in iCal on my Mac as well as on the iPad and iPhone. However, when using iCloud's Calendar app on the web it is a patchwork of random events missing. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to it.
Also, with iCal running on the Mac, my Calendar app of choice, Fantastical, displays all of the events perfectly. Once I quit iCal, I get the same random missing events as the web app. Yet, Calendar, Fantastical and any other calendar apps on both my iPhone and iPad always display all the events properly.
This has been driving me crazy. I tried exporting all of my calendars locally, deleting everything on iCloud, creating new calendars and merging in the old data. I got the same end result. I also tried importing the old calendars as completely new ones (not merged) and got the same missing events.
If anyone has any suggestions of something I may have missed, I would be eternally grateful. I can't afford to lose any of my calendar data.

Sign into your account on icloud.com, click on your name, then click on Time Zone. Check that it is the correct time zone and the selected citiy is near your location.

How can I import my Google calendar to iCloud calendar via web or ios?

I've decided I want to move from contacts/calendar in gmail to icloud. I was going to do the same with mail, but it seems iCloud doesn't have the level of functionality that gmail does.
My problem is that all instructions for importing my gmail calendar into icloud require some sort of desktop (I use PC) mail/calendar program. I don't use one. I manage my mail & calendars purely on my iphone or on the website(s). How can I import my .ics file into iCloud calendar via either the iCloud web interface or via my iPhone?

The only possible way I could imagine it might work ( can't guarantee it ) is as followed.
#1 Your Google Calendar is synced with your iphoen and you go into settings to turn it off.
#2 It will ask you: "What would you like to do with excisting local calendars on your iphone", you click keep them on iphone.
#3 Now you sync your empty icloud calendar with your iphone and hopefully the local calendar would sync on your icloud calendar?
Might work...not sure, play around with the settings in the iphone calendar app etc...

Contribute CS5 - Slow and Web Plugin Queries

I just bought and installed Adobe CS5 Web Premium. I have setup Contribute, linked it to a network share that is our website and made some changes and it all seems to work. However it's very slow. Once I click Edit Page it takes about 80 seconds to fully load the page in Contribute before I can edit it and beach balls while this happens. The pages aren't media heavy (<80k) Any forum posts on "slowness" seem to relate to CS4 and Safari 3.2.1 neither of which I have installed.
Where should I start in troubleshooting this slowness? Are there some logs I can check to see what its stalling on. I have a 2ghz MacMini, 10.5.8 and 4gb ram.
Also as I bought the Mac version where do I find the FireFox / IE Contribute plugin for Windows? the Mac version is in the Contribute folder and once installed in FireFox also worked but was no faster so I thought I'd try the Windows plugin but I can't find it anywhere in my install folders or online. Obviously I am not going to buy CS5 all over again for Windows to get the plug-in.
