ICloud SMTP Transmission Failure

Something weird has happened with iCloud lately. When I try to send emails (particularly to people at my church) I receive a "SMTP Transmission Failure" message back. I've been able to send emails to them before, but recently (the last couple of days) it will not let me! To make the situation even stranger, yesterday I was out and needed to send an email to one of these people and did so from my iPad and it went through! Today, I tried to send one from computer, failed, resent from iPad, went through.
I've tried finding a solution to this on Google, but all I've been able to find is for Mac users, I have a PC and check my iCloud through my internet browser (I use Google Chrome)
PLEASE HELP!!!
Thanks

It's happening to me too now!

Hi, iCloud will not let me send mail to some yahoo accounts, stating SMTP transmission failure has occurred. Can anyone help ?.

    Try two things
    1. try to send mail from icloud.com - by that we eliminate possible problem on your device.
    2. Sending mail to the same yahoo address from other email - that way we can eliminate or pinpoint problem with icloud smtp server. ( for that one you will have to give it a few hours, cause another server may give you delayed failure.)

  • Having problems printing using ePrint from email with an SMTP transmission failure

I am having a problem printing from my Apple devices (iPhone, iPad (both running iOS 5), Mac Book Pro and iMac (Lion)) from my Mobile me account (Apple's @me.com mail). My printer is a D110a and is up-to-date. The return error message I'm getting is attached. The printer is working fine as a wireless printer but whenever I try to email something to the ePrint printer address (@hpeprint) I get this message. While I wasn't a heavy user of emailing to this printer, I did have it working. I'm very discouraged by all of the postings I've found on very similar if not identical problems that others are having ... Please help! Your message cannot be delivered to the following recipients:  Recipient address: [email protected]  Reason: SMTP transmission failure has occurred  Diagnostic code: smtp;550 5.7.1 Command rejected  Remote system: dns;email.hpeprint.com (TCP|17.148.16.96|51538|15.201.224.75|25) (hpeprint.com ESMTP Postfix) Original-envelope-id: [email protected] Reporting-MTA: dns;asmtp021-bge351000.mac.com (tcp-daemon) Arrival-date: Tue, 13 Dec 2011 15:27:06 +0000 (GMT) Original-recipient: rfc822;[email protected] Final-recipient: rfc822;[email protected] Action: failed Status: 5.7.1 (SMTP transmission failure has occurred) Remote-MTA: dns;email.hpeprint.com (TCP|17.148.16.96|51538|15.201.224.75|25) (hpeprint.com ESMTP Postfix) Diagnostic-code: smtp;550 5.7.1 Command rejected initions=main-1112130128

I cannot say if this is a supported path or not, but I have a few thoughts about what you are doing. I have done a few prototypes that would send emails programatically to eprint printers.
    1. do you recieve the email if you send it to a different address (your email address) - you said the email is making it out of the server, but does it make it to destinations.
    2. can you try this with your own printer that has an hp connected account? this would make it easier to troubleshoot.
    3. hpconnected has the idea of open to anyone or allowed senders only. depending on how your customer has their printer setup, you could be blocked by the service because of those settings. with those options, they also have the option to block users or allow users to either of those settings.
3a. login to hpconnected.com, select devices, look at the device being printed to, and there is a column for ePrint Access that will say 'Allowed Senders Only' or 'Open to Anyone'. going to the settings for a printer will give more details about these settings, and allow you to manage blocked / allowed users.
More info under 'Manage ePrint Preferences' on this doc:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c03550522&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en
    4. I believe that in hpconnected, you can look at collections and it will show all recieved jobs - which would allow them to be printed again. I think this will list received jobs from email.
    I work for HP.

  • SMTP transmission failure. What's that?!

I'm posting this for my mother. She's got an iMac running Leopard & she downloaded latest software updates this morning - so as far as I can tell she'd up-to-date. She's also got a 3G iPhone which syncs to her iMac which again is up-to-date as far as updates go.
Her problem is when sending emails an error message comes up saying it can't send mail and offers an alternative server smtp.me.com:(her apple id) which it's already set to anyway and when she clicks 'try alternative server' it doesn't help. I went into her mobileme account remotely (I'm 20 miles away!) and then got her to send me an email from her iMac & I also sent myself one from her mobileme account.
The error message for both reads as follows:
Reason: SMTP transmission failure has occurred
Diagnostic code: smtp;554 5.7.1 You have exceeded your message sending limits. Try again later. [slot 2]
Any one got any helpful tips?

I meant nothing related to space issues, nor attachments. Such limits, if involved, are triggered by the total number of recepients in the period of time, and can result from forwarding, or replying to All on a message with lots of people in the distribution list.
Do I understand correctly that you cannot send using her account either?
If she has triggered this type of limit, then switching the SMTP to one provided by her ISP may allow sending to resume until the time limit expires.
Of course this limit may be some type of mistake for her, but the message would point this way.

  • TS4002 SMTP transmission failure has occurred this happened somehow overnight since I received in coming mail last evening.

I'm not able to receive any mail today. I could last night. I have changed no settings. Help/

Thanks for your prompt response. I can't receive mail. I can send only. I was receiving OK the previous night, Sunday, April 6th. But yesterday, Monday April 7th messages were kicked back to senders as undeliverable. I sent to several emails from another email address to dnjames and those "test " messages were met with the below info:

  • Hpeprint and iCloud SMTP server

Why can I not send mails with the icloud SMTP server to my printer using an hpeprint address? The mails are not printed an I get an error message. From all other email SMTP servers I use, it's working perfectly.

This looks like a common problem with icloud as the promlem is also reported on the support forum of hpeprint. Nobody had a solution til now.
    thanks for any useful help

I can confirm, that it happens on my iPhone as well - using any email provider it works except when using my iCloud account. Strangely, it used to work in the past and I'm just ran into this challenge recently.

  • Mail loosing iCloud SMTP server name

Recently I have found that when I go to create a new email I cannot send it as the Mail application does not have the SMTP server assigned to my iCloud account.  Then when I try to choose one from my existing list, iCloud is greyed out and showing as offline.
I have to then go into Mail>Preferences>Accounts then highlight my iCloud account and pick the iCloud SMTP server, then Save this amendment.  I can then create a new email and its configured to work OK.
Anyone else have this issue or offer a suggestion?
    Running 10.8.3. Thx.

Anyone else having this issue?  It's still going on for me.  It only happend to me since the update to 10.8.3.

  • Use other than iCloud SMTP Server?

    Hi fellows,
iCloud is out and it is already starting to aggrevate me. I don' t want others to see my @me.com email adress. Therefore I want to change the SMTP server in my icloud account to an other email provider (gmail). But the iCloud SMTP server does not allow itself to be deactivated. It stays the primary SMTP and the gmail SMTP (which I want to make primary) stays secondary!
I can change the SMTP in the email itself each time I write a new one, but this is very annoying!
    Can someone help?
Btw. are you mails being pushed?! Mine do not push at all!
    Thanks in advance!
    Best Regards,
    Phillip

Very weird, it worked with MobileMe in the iOS 5 betas.
But I'm seeing what you're seeing.  Bummer.  I gave up on Apple and have moved my email to Google Apps using their sync.
They ook the ability for me to add my smtp to the web interface with iCloud and now apparently in the phone as well.
My advice, abandon the use of apple services.

After a week's worth of debugging, I found the issue.
The Java type returned from the call was defined as ArrayList.  Changing it to List resolved the problem.
I'm not sure why ArrayList isn't a valid return type, I've been looking at the Adobe docs, and still can't see why this isn't valid.  And, why it works in Debug mode and not in Release build is even stranger.  Maybe someone can shed some light on the logic here to me.

  • SMTP routine failure from SMTPC_ENQUEUE

iMS 5.2 patch 1, many logs occur includes: SMTP routine failure from SMTPC_ENQUEUE, why?

I can't claim to be expert in solving network problems, but you might start with statistics on your net card. The message does not mean that mail was lost, only that the remote system didn't respond to a requrest for another packet. We keep what we got, and when the remote system reconnects, we continue with the same message.
How many is "many many"? How many messages do you receive in an average day?

  • SMTP service failure

    I have been quite happy with JES messaging server 2005Q4 until recently. The other night SMTP service failed at around 1:04am. I had to restart the processes using "imsimta restart". Then, last night, the same thing happened again but this time at 1:29am. I had to restart the process again. I got the following alarm message from the server before it stops responding (similar alarm for the other night as well);
    Server instance: /opt/SUNWmsgsr
    Alarmid: serverresponse
    Instance: smtp
Description: server response time in seconds
    Current measured value (13/Jun/2006:01:26:21 -0700): 80
    Lowest recorded value: 0
    Highest recorded value: 80
    Monitoring interval: 600 seconds
Alarm condition is when over threshold of 10
Number of times over threshold: 10
I checked my cron list to see if something is running around that time, but nothing. There is also no clue in any log files including /var/adm/messages and /var/opt/SUNWmsgsr/log/* . Nothing has been logged about any failure or error.
I enabled the watcher to restart the failed processes now, but I need to know why it started failing.
I also tried to find a correlation between the number of SMTP connections and that failure. Although it seems to be unneededly high due to spams, there are some other times that it hits much higher values, and it survives. So, it does not seem to be the number of connections handled by the server. It is something else, but what?
    Any comments!

    Here are the details;

    2) - SMTP was not responding.
    - No core file.
    - I do not know how to allow/disallow a core file. But, I guess, the system can produce a core file, because I have seen core files couple of times so far while I was trying to get it running during the installation phase.
