ICloud status icon in iTunes

What does this iCloud staus icon mean? It used to appear intermittently in iTunes 10. It rarely, if ever, went away without restarting iTunes. I was hopeful that this issue would be "fixed" by iTunes 11. But, as you can see, it's still there, and it still clears with an iTunes restart. I found an Apple Support article for iCloud status icons <http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4124> but this one is not listed. Your thoughts?

Yes, please someone answer this question.
When playing purchased music or video streamed from iCloud (I do not have iTunes Match), sometimes the song just stops, I look over at iTunes window and the iCloud symbol is gone, and all my songs/videos in the cloud disappear from the list. It is as if the iCloud icon shows that I have good connection to my library on iCloud.
However, once it disappears (network hiccup?), I can't figure out how to get the iCloud-based songs back. If I quit iTunes and restart it, I *do* get that iCloud icon back as well as access to all my songs in iCloud.
Quiting and restarting seems a bad design.
Could Apple (or someone) provide a definitive story on the iCloud icon (what it means, what are its different states, etc.), and when it disappears, how can I bring it back (and my song lists)?

  • Why are there no iCloud status icons next to some of my tracks in iTunes on my Mac ?

I was looking at this page: http://support.apple.com/kb/ts4124
There are different icons depending upon the status of a track in my library.
But what if there is NO ICON, near some of  the songs in my library? Does it mean it everything is ok and that it is in iCloud? Or is it a bug? As I have a large library, I cannot verify that each and every track is in iCloud.

    Hi,
If tracks have been matched, purchased or uploaded and there is no cloud symbol, everything will be ok and tracks will be on your computer.
Add iCloud status to song view -go to menu> view> view options and tick box. Matched, uploaded, purchased, inelligible, duplicate or waiting will show.

  • How do I enable 'iCloud Status' view in iTunes 11.1?

Previously Match users were able to activate 'iCloud Status' view in the music library columns. This feature would indicate if a song were uploaded / matched / etc. After updating to the iTunes 11.1, this feature seems to be missing or moved to a separate menu. Anyone have any insight?

    Hi,
In addition to Michael's comments, try closing iTunes and re opening.
On one occasion after I readded match, iCloud status was missing from view options. Relaunch solved problem.

  • IPod Shuffle 4G doesn't show charged icon in iTunes

Hi! Last time I tried to charge my iPod, the status icon in iTunes was staying at charging and the icon didn't changed to charged for hours. I had to remove and plug in my iPod again to see it. Today I charged my iPod again on differnt computer and I got the same thing. Is it from the iTunes version or something went wrong with my iPod?
I don't check the light on my iPod, because I don't use auto sync and it always lights orange (not blinking, like when it's syncing).

  • My external hard drive went bad and i need to reset the iCloud status within iTunes. I can't figure out how to do this. Any ideas?

So I had most of my music on an external hard drive (Seagate even!) and it went bad, but I occationally can get some stuff off of it. When I tried to do the iTunes Match, it looked for songs on my computer and found alot not there. Now they are all set to the iCloud Status of "waiting". I need to reset this so I can pull them down on an individual basis.
Ideas? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

    Update to iTunes 10.3.1
After you have finished, you can re download your iTunes purchases without having to re purchase.

" Download Previous Purchases. Download your past music purchases again at no additional cost. Your purchases are available in the iTunes Store on your Mac or in the iTunes app on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. Previous purchases may be unavailable if they are no longer on the iTunes Store."

    Hi,
Why are you trying to add a book as music? It will not match as this only applies to music files. It will be uploaded if the bit rate is 96 Kbps or greater.
You should change media type to audiobook and you will be able to sync by wifi or USB.

  • ICloud Status column gone in iTunes 11.2.1?

Has the iCloud Status column been removed from the lastest update of iTunes? When I go to view options it is no longer there. How are we supposed to know what has been uploaded or matched in iTunes Match now?

How odd a restart of iTunes brings it back. That fixed it.

  • Where is iCloud icon in iTunes?

  • ICloud Status in iTunes

What does "waiting" mean in teh iCloud status on iTunes?

I just bought a 15-inch MacBook Pro Retina and I recall during iTunes setup that I enabled something to do with iCloud.  It didn't have to do with logging into my account.  It was an actual setting but I flew past the click box too quickly to realize what it was I enabled.  I think I was logged into the iTunes store at the time but I can't find any settings in the iTunes store that will allow me to change whatever it was that I did.  I have a gut feeling this check box might be what's causing the 'waiting' message to appear in iTunes.  Most of the songs I recognize as 'waiting', came from my CD collection and weren't purchased through iTunes.
So what's the system doing with my music list?

  • Why does Match list the iCloud status of iTunes purchased songs as "Exceeded Limit"?

Why does Match list the iCloud status of iTunes purchased songs as "Exceeded Limit"?

because you have loaded over 25,000 songs to the icloud library.  to find out exactly what is in icloud from itunes match follow these directions to create a blank itunes library and load only the itunes match songs from icloud.
    1. You will need to know the location of your iTunes library for later, the default is under music under your username.  If its not there find it and remember where it is for later.
    2. Then you have to exit iTunes and create a new empty library. To do this hold the option key when you open iTunes.  Choose create Library on the pop up dialogue. Create the library anywhere on your system, you can delete the entire library once you have completed your iCloud changes.
    3. When the library opens in iTunes it will be empty. Click on iTunes Match and click the start button.  after it finishes all of the songs on your iCloud match account will be listed under music.
if you want to delete some or all songs from icloud so you can re-sync itunes match to show the songs in your current library fowwow this.
    4. you can select up to 1000 at a time and delete them.
    5. when you have deleted what you want, close iTunes and open again holding the option key and navigate to your original library, usually in the music folder under your username.  You should be all set and can click iTunes match again and your account will be populated with the ones in your current library.
    6. You can navigate to the temp library you created in finder and delete it as it is no longer needed.

  • ITunes iCloud Status is not "Ineligible"  bug

In iTunes 10.7 (21) I have used a smart list to display files that have an iCloud Status that "is not Ineligible"  but they still appear.  Must be a bug because it works when I look for files that are Ineligible. Anyone else see this problem?

I have now seen this on the Service Status. I guess we are amongst the 0.17%:

  • ITunes Match leaves ripped songs in multiple iCloud status states

Itunes Match seems to have made a complete mess of my Library.  I had to restart match several times, and in the end it looked like it was about to complete but when I came back to it,  I found that is had started the whole matching process again.  Now I see most of my songs ripped from CD duplicated in multiple iCloud states.  Most of my ripped songs appear duplicated as Uploaded and also as greyed out Waiting status.  Some appear duplicated as Uploaded and Matched.  Some of my music is duplicated as both in Matched state, one with the iCloud download option and other without.  As far as I can tell, nearly all my own ripped tracks appear as duplicates with different iClouds status in one form or another.  Purchased tracks from iTunes are fine with no duplicates.  What a mess!
I seems that during these multiple attempts to match iCloud was getting different results each time and I ended up with a hodgepodge of duplicates.  I have tried quitting iTunes and coming back in.  I have updated match, it went quickly and made no changes.  I have turned off match and then put it back on (prompted to add the computer) - no change.   How do I clean out this mess?
Note: I worked with a separate iTunes Library to to the match.  My main library contains songs in both AAC and Apple Lossless formats.  I first tried matching that library and realized that it was going to give me duplicates.  So I created a new empty Library and deleted my iCloud tracks to reset it.  Then I opened a custom library with just my AAC format files to do the match.  This seemed to work although as I noted it got stock a couple times and then seemed to repeat the match process in the end. Note these multiple libraries point to the same media files.  Fortunately it doesn't look like I have lost any original tracks, but the display is very messy with all the duplicates.
Are these iCloud states stored locally where I could delete a file and then reopen the library I wish to match and update the matches to refresh the iCloud status and hopefully clear out all the duplicate listings?  I am hoping I don't need to start over since this took two days to do.  But if I do, what must be done to start from a clean state.  In addition to clearing out iCloud via deleting from an empty library, are there other local files that need to be purged?

Don't feel bad -- I'm running iTM on Windows XP and it's clearly not listed as supported either.       Are some of those dups greyed out?  I've had that issue if I tried to match and then killed the process before it completed.  If so, you might need to clear all them out before you re-run.   In other words, if you create a new library and see a bunch of iCloud stuff when you enable iTM, you might want to go through and clean up iCloud before you attempt any more local matching on your end.
The only real problem I see with 10.5.8 (or XP for that matter) is that if you contact Apple directly, they might suggest upgrading as the first step since it's not listed as supported.   Unfortunately it is what it is and Apple, like any other large tech company has to set EOL dates for certain OS's.

  • HT204406 I purchased an album from itunes, and put it in a playlist. icloud status lists all the songs as purchased, and when I click on "Update itunes Match", this playlist will not update. There is a cloud to the right of the playlist name.

I purchased an album from the itunes store, and put it in a playlist. icloud status listed all the songs as purchased, instead of the usual "Waiting". When I clicked on "Update itunes Match", everything updated except this playlist. There is a cloud to the right of the playlist name. This has never happened before.
    Any ideas?

I deleted the songs from my desktop (iMac), then I used itunes match to reload the songs back on my desktop from my laptop. When they reappeared on my desktop, then I right-clicked on the songs and clicked on the option to add to icloud. This however did not work, and they just duplicated into icloud, but they were "greyed out" and unuseable. I hope I'm explaining myself clearly? In other words, the songs seem to be trying to go into the cloud, but they are greyed out in my library and cannot download. It is as if they are ghosts? My songs do play fine when I transfer them via itunes match, and everything appears normal. They just won't transfer via the cloud. As I said before, every other song in my library always work fine via the could, but only the songs off this one album that I bought from itunes in 07' will not work???

  • Recently got a new iPod 4th gen; I had previously backed up to iCloud and subscribed to iTunes Match, and then wound up syncing the new iPod to my MacBook Pro; all iCloud tunes were downloaded to Mac but won't all sync to the iPod - any suggestions?

Recently got a new iPod Touch 4th gen; I had previously backed up to iCloud and subscribed to iTunes Match, and then wound up syncing the new iPod to my MacBook Pro; all iCloud tunes were downloaded to Mac but won't all sync to the iPod after multiple attempts, despite all songs showing properly on the Mac and multiple syncs occurring after all songs were properly reflected on the Mac.  I updated iTunes Match from the iTunes Store menu as well pre-sync.
I should mention that I had previously had the library on a Dell (which is still running) and shared it on my home network.  While all iTunes purchases now show in the Dell, the Mac is the device I use for all syncs.
There appears to be no rhyme or reason to the iCloud physical sync failure - some songs were legacy, some were purchased via the PC, some on the old iPod.
The Mac shows all the songs correctly and none show iCloud status -all have been downloaded, but the downloaded songs that were previously showing up as iCloud based aren't syncing to the iPod.
Is there any way to force all music being seen by my iPod as iCloud to download to so I can listen to them offline?  Is there a way to force the sync from iTunes?

The "system" performed as designed. All devices syncing to one iCloud account are kept in common sync. The idea is that all such devices belong to one user. Different users should have different iCloud accounts.  Once your contacts were edited, all devices were updated as well and subsequent backups (from yours and her device) reflected the changed contacts (and any other data that may have been edited like calendars). Your first task is to change your daughter over to a new account before she makes other changes.
The only way I see for getting back contacts is to restore them from a time machine backup, assuming you also have a Mac included in the account which syncs the contacts. However, I'm not sure whether time machine includes contacts from iCloud along with those that are local, "on my Mac".
Otherwise the deleted contacts are gone.
