ICloud sync of photo stream
I have enabled the iCloud backup of my photo stream and I assume that if I take a photo on my iphone, it should appear on my iclod photo stream download folder when in WiFi. This never works. My iphone and my PC is under WiFi and I have taken a photo on my iphone. Waiting for last 1 hour and haven't got the photo to my PC yet.
Tried doing the backup manually under icloud option in settings, but to no avail. I think this whole iOS5 is a complete failure. I think this is the first time such a crappy product has been released.

Photostream in the cloud only keeps photos from the last 30 days (subject to a 1,000 photo limit). When photostream syncs the photos to your device they will stay there until deleted, which means you may well have more photos in your photostream album on your device than there are in photostream in the cloud.
The consequence of this is that if you turn photostream off and on again on your device (or enable it for the first time), it will only be populated with photos from the last 30 days, which may not be all the photos that were previously in the photostream album on that device.

I just purchase an IPhone5C to upgrade from my IPhone4, but I do not know how to get all of my photos that were on ICloud on my Photo Stream (875 photos), on to my new phone. My spouse and I are MacBook Pro users. Is there a way to sync our photo stream together? I'll be traveling out of country so we'd like to be able to share family photos
Unfortunately not if you use separate ID's for your iCloud accounts.

Platform is iMac OS X 10.8.5 and iPhoto 9.4.3, signed in to iCloud and selected Photo Stream. Got an invite via email to subscribe to a Photo Stream and when I click on Subscribe to this Photostream, it tells me that I need specs that I already have.

received a notice that could not use photo stream unless I updated my software. Went to apple preferences/icloud to disable photo stream. Not allowed to do so. What do I do to disable so I won't continue to receive annoying messages from apple/icloud
I think you can solve your problems by removing your AppleID email address from BOTH the Messages setting on your iPhone and the iMessages settings on your Mac.
On iPhone:
Settings > Messages > iMessage > Dissabled
Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > touch the "(i)" < touch "Remove This Email"
On Mac:
Open "Messages" application
Click "Messages menu > Preferences
Click "Accounts"
Select your AppleID account
Under the "You can be reached for messages at" settings, uncheck your AppleID email address and your phone number
Then uncheck the "Enable this account" setting
And lastly, ask all of your friends with iPhones to delete all iMessage conversations (blue bubbles) in their entirety.
To test, send a friend a new text using their phone number (not their email address) and watch the color of the bubble. If it's green then you are using SMS. -

There are few things you can check. Most of the Hotels use "splash" login page when you go online you have to accept their TOS. If you don't do that connection does not exist, even if you see wifi simbol. Verify that both devices are connected to wifi. Also you want to make sure that camera app of your iphone is turned off and phone is charged over 20 %.
Do simple test. When you on wifi take a new photo and open your photostream album on the same phone. If you see that photo show up in there in few min (takes 2 to 5 on fast connection) then you need to check your ipad and if it does not show there - check the charge and go online on ipad. Once you verify you can access Internet - see if photo shows up in photostream on the ipad. If you get problem in any step of that process- come back and we ll work througth the rest.
That test will allow to check if photostream works at all, if the problem is intermittent - like you described, when you on good wifi it should rectify itself(it has 30 days to do that), but you want to make sure that those pictures do get in photostream album of your iphone. -
I have yet to update my iPhone 4 to the latest iOS software. How do I save photos to my iCloud photo stream that were taken before I activated my iCloud account and photo stream ?
You have a couple of options:
Open the photos one at a time and take a screenshot. This will add a new low resolution copy of the photo to the camera roll, which will then upload to your photo stream;
Email the photos a few at a time to yourself, then save the attached photos to your camera roll. This will add a copy of the photo at full resolution to your camera roll and upload to photo stream;
Use an app like PhotoSync, which will allow you to wirelessly transfer copies of all your old photos to your computer all at once. Then delete these photos from your camera roll and use PhotoSync to transfer them back from your computer to your camera roll. These will be the original resolution and will upload to your photo stream. (You need an app like this because iTunes will not transfer photos back to your camera roll, where they must be in order to add to your photo stream.) -
A number of older photos on my Mac and iPhone 4S have disappeared from My Photo Stream, but are still on my iPad 3, there are 826 on the iPad, 369 on the phone and only 275 on the Mac.
New photos taken on the iDevices or imported from another camera are added to all three streams and photos deleted from one stream are deleted from the others.

Photo stream photos will be removed from iCloud to make space for newer photos, if they have been in iCloud for a month or if there are 1000 photos.
It is normal that the streams are not identical. It depends an when you activated the streams on each device, and what was currently bufferend in iCloud, when you enabled the stream.
How do I sync the old photos from the iPad with the phone and Mac so the streams are identical please?
Your iPad will upload the old photos again to the Photo Stream, if you save new copies of the photos to the Camera roll. -
Get rid of iCloud and save photo stream pics
Every time I sync my iPhone to computer, it re-saves all my pics to phone - I now have them double & triple saved - 4200! I can't delete pics from phone. Photo stream is on but don't need it. If I plug in to sync again, I'll then have hudreds more pics. Help!
You can disable iCloud on your device, or in iTunes by deselecting "Sync this device via iCloud" or the other option of using your computer. You unfortunately can not roll back iOS 5 to earlier iOS versions (4.3.3 for example).

Places and faces not syncing with photo stream
Hello,
I put some of my pictures from my Mac Pro's iPhoto library into Photo Stream with the intention of grabbing them into my MacBook Pro's iPhoto library.
They download and the events are generated but the Faces and Places information did not come along :-(
I'm wondering if this is by design (I sincerely hope not!) or a bug...

when you take a photo on one device, it automatically appears on all your other devices. No syncing. No sending. Your photos are just there. Everywhere you want them.
No mention of Faces and Places there.
Or
it automatically imports every picture from your Photo Stream into your photo library so you can edit, delete, and share the ones you want.
Again, no mention of Faces and Places here, or anywhere on that page.
It's not a bug. It's just not a feature.

My iphone used to upload photos to my PC via icloud but recently I keep getting an error message on applephotostreams.exe has stopped working. I have been on my icloud account as suggested to reboot my photo stream but said photo stream is not on my icloud. I haven't deleted it or fiddled with any settings on my phone, PC or icloud account. Where are all my photos being stored? How has it been syncing them to my PC? I am confused, can anybody help?
Recall that photo stream only keeps photos on the cloud servers for 30 days, after which they are deleted. If on the PC you turned off photo stream and then turned it back on, you will only get photos that are currently in the stream, which may be none.
As a general rule, always sync photos to a computer (via USB to itunes or photo stream) and once on the computer, move them into a permanent folder/album. -

I have done everything that the Apple manual suggets to insure that I can transfer photos from my IPHONE to my Windows Desktop via ICLOUD. For some reason it still says that my ICLOUD (on my desktop) is not enabled!

EllenFirst make sure iCloud and Photo Stream are installed on your PC. Connect the iPad (or iPhone) to your PC with the USB cable and start iTunes on your PC. Once your iPad/iPhone shows up under "Devices" in the sidebar (which you may have to enable), click it. Then click "Photos" at the top of the iTunes screen on your PC. Check the "Sync Photos from" box, and then under that, click "Selected folders." (Ignore the pulldown menu to the right of "Sync Photos from" -- the important thing is to tick "Selected folders.") A pane should open up below that with a list of folders including "Photo Stream." Choose that and then at the bottom of the screen click Sync. This worked for my Windows 7 box.

Why do I only see iCloud pictures (not photo stream) when I connect my iPhone 5 to my computer?
When I connect my iPhone 5 to my laptop, I can only see iCloud pictures instead of Photo Stream. I want to upload photos from my Photo Stream. Should I change a setting on my phone?

If you are using iCloud photo library then your photo stream photos aren't on your phone. Your phone sends photos to photo stream (if enabled) so they can sync over air with your computer.

ITunes freezes when iPod connected
I have Windows XP and iTunes version 11.0.1. Since I've updated iTunes I haven't tried to sync my iPod touch 4th generation. When I connected my iPod my iTunes freezes and I can't click on anything. Once I disconnect the iPod then iTunes works fine.
