iCloud will only sync your iCloud mail account, syncing works because the iCloud account is an IMAP account. You can contact the providers for your other email accounts and see if they offer an IMAP service, many do.

  • Issues with iCloud synchronisation and contacts over two or more devices.  iTouch and iPad2 sync with different results from iMac.  Thoughts?

Has any one experienced issues with iCloud synchronisation and contacts over two or more devices? The primary machine is an iMac running Lion. Address Book was created from vcf file (backup of address book prior to moving to iCloud). iTouch replicates Contacts just fine and matches the Address Book on the iMac. The iPad 2 does not showing only 123 contacts where there should be 200. I have turned off iCloud on both devices thus erasing the iCloud content of both devices and staring from scratch with both devices with identical results. Even turned off iCloud on the iMac and erased the Address Book and rebuilt with the same results. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions? I am going nuts.....

    To follow-up with this issue:
I ended up performing a security wipe on my device. The security wipe finished, and I was about to reconnect with Exchange when I decided to visit our host's web site to see if they had any articles covering the issues I was experiencing. While they didn't have anything specific, I did find a step-by-step guide to connecting a BB10 device to Exchange... and right there at the end, it said "Do NOT enable memo sync."
I contacted support, and the rep told me that OS 10 has an issue with memo sync and it can cause all sorts of unpredictable behavior. Now, whether or not this is accurate I can say this: So far, the device is not disconnecting and reconnecting like it was before. Problem is, is this a result of not enabling memo sync, or is this a result of the security wipe?
I may have overlooked it, but I don't recall reading anything about that anywhere else. I'm tempted to try re-enabling the memo sync to see if everything blows up again. At least that way I can see for myself if the memo sync is a real issue. Of course, perhaps it's an issue with SherWeb (our host) specifically. Hm...
Anyway, for those that were interested, and for those that may come along in the future with a similar situation, the strange behavior that I first reported is no longer happening. I just don't know if it was a result of a security wipe or a result of not enabling memo sync with Exchange.

  • Problem numbers icloud not synching

    Hey guys,
I got a problem with my iCloud synchronisation:
It works perfectly between my iPhone and my iPad, but it doesn't work with my MacBook Pro.
All my numbers files are not updated on my mac, so I cannot work with them anymore.
That's a real problem, has anyone an idea how to make my icloud work on my Mac again?
I've already tried turn it off an on again, on Mac and on all my iOS tools. I've also tried to open the files from the Finder, but there my files are shown, but I can't open them, they are also not synchronised. All my software is updated.
    Thanks for your help!

  • Saving to iCloud in Mountain Lion?

I now have Mountain Lion.  I created a text edit document and saved it to iCloud.  There doesn't seem to be a way to access iCloud.  There is no iCloud in the side bar of the finder.  The only way to find this doc is if I can remember the name I gave it and to search for it.  When it comes up the path say "document name > iCloud".  I think Apple forgot to add access to this??

    Hi,
I was deliberatly made this way.  iOS doesn't have Finder and Apps are the only way to access files.  I would definitively like Apple to bring back a Finder access to a location of iCloud like it was possible with the iDisk feature of MobileMe.
Here is pretty thorough article on the subject:http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/12/07/20/inside_os_x_108_mountain_lion_gm_u sing_icloud_as_the_smart_automated_way_to_store_documents.html&page=2
    Given said this, you can access iCloud files by looking it an hidden library folder but the risk is to mess with iCloud synchronisation services therefore, it isn't recommended to do so.  Here is a reference on the local iCloud files location;

A third party application like DropBox will gives you the feature you are looking for.

  • Icloud sent out reply messages for old invitations after initial sync

After starting iCloud  synchronisation from my MBP i started to receive out of office messages from people that once hat sent an invitation to me, that I had accepted.
It seems, that in the process of syncing my calendar to iCloud all past meeting invitations were confirmed again by iCloud!!! One person got over 100 mails from me or iCloud respectivly.
One person got over 100 of those mails. I am using my calendar in a business enviroment and am not pleased about this behaviour. The worst thing is, that I don't even know, who these messages were sent to, there ist no sent-folder or similar as far as I know.

This has now happened to me TWICE!  ACK!
The first time it happened was when I upgraded to Lion a few months back, and was more or less forced into setting up iCloud (I wasn't even sure I wanted it but thought I'd give it a test spin, but then couldn't turn it off again without it removing all my calendar entries from my local iCal).  As with everyone else, all the old meeting request acknowledgments mysteriously and for no good reason went out and I looked like a complete fool (and btw, for those that are suspecting Exchange, it isn't just an Outlook/Exchange problem because I'm NOT on Outlook/Exchange, but I interact with customers that are on Outlook/Exchange and who send out meeting requests).  I didn't know how to get it squared away and was afraid to touch anything for fear it would happen again until visiting a 'Genius' at the Apple Store who said that I can't synch with iTunes and iCloud, and I also have to be careful when synching between multiple devices (my wife and I share contacts and calendars from the same account on two separate iPhones).  So after a frustrating and embarrassing first experience, I thought I was squared away, but then...
This past weekend, it all happened again.  All the old meeting acknowledgments went out, again, to the same group of people that got them the first time!  So, not once but twice, all my business contacts got meeting accepted messages from me for meetings that were as much as three years old!
Now after reading Mark J P's post, I'm not sure if it was something I did (I was attempting to synch contacts to my wife's iPhone via iTunes this weekend), or if it was just another glitchy weekend for iCloud and had nothing to do with me, but whatever the case, it boils down to two inexcusable bugs, in my opinion:
1).  Meeting Accepted messages should not be sent for ancient meetings, ESPECIALLY when said messages have already been sent.
2).  Users should be notified that a message is going to go out, and be allowed to decline it.
After these two totally unacceptable blunders, I wanted nothing more to do with iCloud, but when I went to turn it off, it again threatened to delete all calendar entries (though you can choose to keep your contacts when turning off iCloud, there was no way that I could see to prevent it from deleting calendar entries).  So I googled around until I found a thread that told me to:
    1) export all my calendars now being held hostage by iCloud,
    2) create new local empty calendars, and
    3) import the exported calendar data into the new local calendars.
Then, iCloud made good on its threat and deleted all my iCloud calendar data when I shut it off, and I am now able to synch my contacts and my new local calendars the way I used to -- with iTunes -- and I am finally free of iCloud's evil clutches!
I am honestly dumbfounded at how terrible this experience has been.  I can't believe I am anything other than a very typical user (that shares one iTunes account for multiple devices and accepts meetings from business colleagues that use Exchange), and that Apple would release something as abysmal as iCloud to wreak the havoc that it has.

  • Just got 4 new iPads, Do I need separate Apple IDs for each one?

Right now I have 3 iPods and 2 iPhones connected to my PC using 1 Apple ID.
Question: I just purchased 4 new iPads. One of the iPads is for me and the 3 others are for my children. Should I setup the 4 new iPads under my existing Apple ID or should set up a new Apple ID for EACH of the new iPads?

It would be a good idea to set up separate apple ID's for each. One reason is just to avoid any confusion over anything such as icloud synchronisation. Spending on your credit card so maybe purchase gift cards for their accounts so they have some money to spend on apps. It could cause a few problems mainly due to icloud, photos syncing, password synchonisation and it only takes a few minutes to set up an account. If you don't want to put a credit card on their accounts you can set it up without an account but i'd suggest using a computer to set it up as in my experience i couldnt set up an account without a card on an iphone or ipad etc.
you could put your card on their ipads and enforce a restriction on buying apps where you would need to enter a code to authorise it.
    Hope it helps

  • Long-time  start up and batteri charge problem?

    Hi,
I bought the new Mac-air 2014 (11 inch) yesterday. It seem have problem: the start up time is quite long up to around 20s. The battery reduce quite fast about 5 hour and I charged for one night, but the battery increased only 20% (Mac still working and also iCloud)
So has any problem with my Mac?

Going from Lion back to Snow Leopard is not as straight forward as it should be.
Do you have a backup of your Snow Leopard iMac disk before upgrading to Lion? If you do, that is the simplest way to go back to SL. If not, then, there is no simple way to do so.
A number of discusions on this forum address downgrading to SL from Lion.
Before you proceed, however, consider whether you have a need for iCloud synchronisation, a Lion only feature, and also consider future updates that will be Lion only.
I would also look at the iMac hardware configuration and see if it is optimised for Lion. Do you have enough RAM and free disk space to run Lion?
How long have you been running Lion? I found that the speed of Lion improved over a matter of days, as if Lion needed to settle in. Has spotlight finished indexing your disk? Have your repaired permissions in Disk Utility? Look at Activity Monitor for processes that are consuming CPU.
I would only go back to Snow Leopard as a last resort.
