Icloud taking 19 hours to back up

Why is my iphone 5 taking 19 hours to back up to icloud?

Cause the backup is large and your Internet is slow. Try another fast network, or just leave it charging for couple of nights and it will backup eventually.

  • Why does my iPad say it's taking 6 hours to back up to iCloud?

    and my iPhone says 5 hours remaining.
    Yet neither device seems to be adding to the amount that was backed up within the first few minutes
    Thanks!

    Try jiggling the headphone plug in the jack to unstick the headphone switch. If it doesn't work it's off to the Apple Store.

  • HT4972 Why is it taking 22+ hours to back up my iPad?

    I am trying to update my iPad and it is backing it up first....this process estimates 22 hours. I left it there for the 22 hours and it was not even half of the way done. There is not much info on the iPad as it belongs to my 5 year old son....any suggestions? Thanks!!

    It shouldn't take this long.  Close your iTunes and remove the device.
    Try this,
    Go to command Prompt -
    (Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
    (Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
    In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
    netsh winsock reset
    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
    After restarting, you may get a prompt to remap LSP, just click NO.
    Now launch your iTunes and Sync and see if it is working now.

  • Why is it taking 4 hours to sync my phone with Icloud, why is it taking 4 hours to sync my phone with Icloud

    Why is it taking 4 hours to sync my iphone with Icloud, when i only have 99 songs and about 15 apps?

    iCloud does not sync media and only backs up apps. Why do you believe it is taking 4 hours to sync?  Does the device actually say it is syncing?
    Is the device plugged into external power during this time?  If it is not, Wi-Fi is turning off and the device is reverting to the slower cellular network.

  • I created an iCloud account and also had to get more space after I have done the purchase, I am unable to backup my phone! I have a stable wifi connection at home and all I see for hours and hours is "Backing Up .. Estimating time remaining"!!!!! Plz help

    I created an iCloud account and also had to get more space so after I have made the purchase, I am unable to backup my phone! I have a stable wifi connection at home and all I see for hours and hours is "Backing Up .. Estimating time remaining"!!!!! Plz help I'm unable to make the backup as I need to transfer all my data on my new iPhone 5S

    This may be caused by a corrupt existing backup that needs to be deleted, or by data on your device that is causing the backup to fail.  To troubleshoot these, try deleting your last iCloud backup (if you have one) by turning off iCloud Backup in Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup, then tap Manage Storage, tap your device under Backups, then tap Delete Backup.  Then go back and turn iCloud Backup back on and try backing up again.
    If it still won't back up, you may have an app or something in your camera roll that is causing the backup to fail.  To locate which one, go to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>Manage Storage, tap the name of your device under Backups, under Backup Options tap Show All Apps, then turn them all to Off (including camera roll) and try backing up again.  If the backup is successful, then the camera roll and/or one of your apps is causing the backup to fail and you'll have to located by process of elimination. Turn the camera roll On and try backing up again.  If it succeeds, turn some of your apps to On and try backing up again.  If it succeeds again, turn some more apps to On then try again; repeat this process until it fails.  Eventually you'll be able to locate the problem app and exclude it from your backup.
    In the meantime you can back up your phone to your computer by connect it, opening iTunes and going to File>Devices>Back Up.  Also be sure to transfer your purchases (File>Devices>Transfer Purchases).  Then set up your new phone and when given the option, choose Restore from iTunes Backup and follow the prompts to restore this backup to your new phone.  This will be much faster than using iCloud anyway.

  • Sync - Back Up... taking 5+ hours

    the Back Up process of Sync is taking 5+ hours to do. it usually gets 1/2 way and than the rest takes hours on hours. nothing really changed, maybe a couple of new pictures taken. this happens all the time.

    Have you installed firmware version 2.2?
    If so, how many 3rd party apps do you have installed that create and store data which you use on a regular basis? All 3rd party app settings and all data created and stored by a 3rd party app is included with your iPhone's backup.
    Do you have the FaceBook app installed? If so, it has been reported here by a number of people using this app that deleting the app from the iPhone resolves the long backup problem. If you have this app installed, try deleting the app from your iPhone followed by syncing to see if your backup time improves.

  • HT4061 My icloud has not able to back my files since November 22,2013. It takes 36 hours which is not the usual case.

    I was not able to back up my files since November 22,2013. It only takes 30 minutes to an hour to back up it. But when I checked, 36 hours was the estimated time. Please help me how I should deal with this. Thank you.

    It's definitely the space. Try this program:import java.io.*;
    import java.util.*;
    public class FileRead {
        public static String[] readFile (String fileName) throws IOException {
            BufferedReader reader = new BufferedReader (new FileReader (new File (fileName)));
            StringBuffer contents = new StringBuffer ();
            String line;
            while ((line = reader.readLine ()) != null) {
                contents.append (line);
                contents.append ("\n");
            StringTokenizer tokeniser = new StringTokenizer (contents.toString ());
            String[] results = new String[tokeniser.countTokens ()];
            int i = 0;
            while (tokeniser.hasMoreTokens ()) {
                results[i ++] = tokeniser.nextToken ();
            return results;
        public static void main (String[] parameters) throws IOException {
            String[] contents = FileRead.readFile (new Boolean (parameters.length == 0 ? "false" : parameters[0]).booleanValue () ? "d:\\java\\forum\\a b c\\test.txt" : "test.txt");
            for (int i = 0; i < contents.length; i ++) {
                System.out.println (contents);
    }(you must replace d:\forum\a b c by your own space containing directory)
    I can run java FileReaderwithout a problem, but get a FileNotFoundException forjava FileReadertrue.
    Kind regards,
      Levi

  • Why is it taking so long to back up on my external hard drive?

    I have a WD 1TB 3.0 USB external hard drive & im transfering 200GB of data.
    Why is it taking so long to back up all my data onto my exernal hard drive using time machine?
    I turn it on every day for about 12 hours to backup.
    I think it will take about 4-5 days to complete, is this normal?

    If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
    Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left.
    Enter the word "Starting" (without the quotes) in the String Matching text field. You should now see log messages with the words "Starting * backup," where * represents any of the words "automatic," "manual," or "standard." Note the timestamp of the last such message. Clear the text field and scroll back in the log to that time. Post the messages timestamped from then until the end of the backup, or the end of the log if that's not clear.
    Post the log text, please, not a screenshot. If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don't post many repetitions of the same message.
    When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
    Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into a message.
    Some personal information, such as the names of your files, may be included — edit that out, too, but don’t remove the context.

  • Estimates 54 hours to back-up and stand still

    My iphone estimates that it will take 54 hours to back up my phone to iCloud and nothing is happending.
    First I got the message that I needed to buy more storadge to back up, so I bought 20GB and now have 10GB available so all should be fine. What can I do?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    The first back up to iCloud may take some considerable time. Just how long isn't really possible to say without knowing how much is in your back up and your connection speed.
    What many people don't realise is that upload speeds are often significantly less than download speeds, so for example a user may have a download speed of 40 Mbps, but only 1 Mbps for uploading. As a rough guide it will take around 2 ¼ hours to upload 1 GB of data at 1 Mbps.
    If your back up continually fails, you might try turning off back up on your mobile device (settings > iCloud > storage & backup) and then deleting the backup file from iCloud by swiping the backup file on the mobile device (settings > iCloud > storage & backup > manage…) and then turning back up on again.

  • Skype download for Mac taking 20 hours

    Why is it taking 20 hours for the new version of Skype to download onto my Mac laptop? I have a job interview coming up and I needed to download this because my login would not work on old version. Help!!

    Not to sound fraternising, but the matter of fact is that nothing has been changed in tcp/ip, that is used by Skype.  What has been changed is that Microsoft now manage the code, and with that comes the Microsoft way of doing things. If this includes complete lack of version control and software management, I suggest you do not change one thing.
    What you do not explain and fail to mention is that features that used to work, does not work in your new versions, and the simplest way to get it to work is to remove everything that has been changed.
    What has been changed is how the tcp/ip packets are sent on the Internet. The software that MS acquired used straight forward, standard tcp/ip with non-lingering sockets, which is the ITU-T variant of tcp/ip that is also the US FCC RFC. If Microsoft wants to implement Skype on Netbios, go ahead, but do not expect others to follow, and allow the rest of the world, including those that used to run Skype on Windows, to leave and find the attempt a complete waste of time, and the software utter worthless.
    It is very well defined what Skype is expected to deliver of functionality, just now, it is to perform just as good as two years ago. If you cannot acheive this by Windows used on servers on the network, that is a change that removed functionality, and did not add anything. It is simple to get it back - drop the Windows relay servers. Microsoft cannot rewrite international standards - and do not tell us to endorse any attempt of that nature. It would be nice if the world was a cube, but all your effort in telling us that it is convenient does not change facts: it will be round as a bowling ball, and tcp/ip has to be fully standard, not one that keeps open long after the connection has been taken down to allow MS to implement IPX/SPX functionality in Skype. We are not interested, and nobody is, I doubt Mr. Nadella would endorse this had he known.

  • Why is the upgrade to iOS 7.0.4 (1.31 GB) taking ELEVEN HOURS?

    Why is the upgrade to iOS 7.0.4 (1.31 GB) taking ELEVEN HOURS?  After 2 full hours I have downloaded 240 MB!
    I realize my Internet speed of 2.5 Mbit/sec is not blistering, but it is the fastest available to me at my rural location.  It easily manages 8 to 10 GBs of material from other sites.
    There are no other users on the system and no other downloads taking place.  I am using a wired connection (not WiFi).
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Paul Good ([email protected])

    I am using iTunes and as I pointed out in my query, I am using the fastest connection available to me.
    From other sites a file of 1.31 GB would take me less than 40 minutes!
