Icloud thinks my att email is still my Apple ID. I changed to a gmail address, which Apple accepts, but Icloud doesn't.

I changed my Apple ID from aYahoo- ATT email to a gmail. Changed the password.
My Iphone5 still asks me to sign in to the old ATT email for everything. Itunes, Icloud. Yet Apple knows the gmail address because that is where it sends me information about the password changes I was making.
I can't update APPs. When I hit "Update" for an APP it asks me to put the Apple ID password for the old ATT email (which I can't remember anyhow since I changed it so many times trying to switch to gmail) I keep getting pop-ups to put my password for the ATT email to enter Itunes store. I guess that is where updates take place?
I thought maybe not having the latest operating system was the problem so I installed that today (OIS 8.1.2 I think). That didn't help.
In a forum I saw a suggestion to delete the old email account. How do you do that? In "Mailboxes" I unchecked the box next to the Yahoo/Att account but that didn't help.
And while I am complaining...... the ON button (on top of the Iphone5) is balky. Sometimes takes 6 tries before the screen shuts down.
AND....this morning , while watching a video online, 2/3 of the screen went blank and flashed on and off repeatedly. Froze in this flashing mode. Took about 15 minutes before I could even get it to shut down. I thought all was lost .

You need to ask Apple for assistance with getting back into your old ID. To do this, click here and pick a method; if that page doesn't list one for your country or you're unable to resolve this issue through the Account Security team, fill out and submit this form.

  • Will i lose use of my @mac address if i accept an @icloud address?

I prefer to keep using my @mac address because I want the world to know that I am an Apple and Mac owner and enthusiast since 1984, but I don't want my proposed @icloud address to be given to someone else.
So can I accept the @icloud address just so no one else gets it, and still keep using @mac or @me?
Or, Will i lose use of my @mac address if i accept an @icloud address?
Can we get a definite commitment from Apple on this?
    Thanks,
    Nate

Your @mac address should continue to function whether you use @icloud or not.

  • How to I get rid of a misspelt apple ID in Settings-icloud on iphone 5, when is still wants Account vertification. No password works on a misspelt Apple ID and cant delete account nor switch off Find my phone.  What to do?

When I received my iphone and set up an Apple ID and password. I then went to seetings - icloud and made an typing error in the apple ID.  The email address is wrong, so the password wont work.   The icloud account cant do anything until I vertify the account, the account which now has the misspelt email Apple ID.
I have just created a new Apple ID and password.  However, I cant do anything with the Setting - icloud because I cant vertify the misspelt Apple ID.
I have tried to delete the account but you cant unless you have the password.  There is no password for this misspelt Apple ID!!??
So what do I do to get out I this mess?

If you can't get the account's password reset via http://iforgot.apple.com (do you remember the answers to the account's security questions ?) then try contacting Support in your country and see if they can reset it for you : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5699

  • How can an email be sent from my iPhone go out as a gmail address if my default is cox and the gmail is not set up on my phone?

I only have one email account on my phone.  It is a cox account and the default email account is of course cox.  I've had some emails go out as a gmail account so when someone replies it goes to the gmail address instead of the cox address.  These don't show on my phone since I don't have gmail set up.  There is no place on the phone where the gmail is identified that I can find.  This doesn't seem possible.  I go on the web to gmail and it is in the sent folder.  It's also in the sent folder on the phone and is identified as the cox address.

  • I purchased IPod touch for grandson and he has screwed up his ICloud and cannot remember email or password used to do the original setup. Now receiving message that no more ICloud accounts are available for this unit. Is there a way to work through this?

Grandson and friend just reset system several times and now neither can remember which email account or password was used to set up the ICloud account. I try to set up the account for him again and receive the message that no more accounts are available. I cannot reset because just like them, I don't know what they used. Surely, there must be some way to wipe out their settings and start fresh again?

Just connect to itunes and restore the ipod, when the restore is complete set it as a new ipod. Your problem must be resolved.

When I registered my email, I forgot to put a letter.
Therefore, it is impossible to verify my account .

  • HT204053 I changed my apple id and changed it in all of my settings except for iCloud. The iCloud app will only let me change the password to an account that no longer exists. How do I change the id without losing all of my information stored on the cloud

How do I change my apple Id for iCloud without losing my information I already stored? I tried going into settings then ICloud but it would not let me change my apple id only my password.

If you renamed your iCloud ID and need to change it on your device, go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, then sign back in with the new ID.  This deletes the account and your iCloud data from your device, but not from iCloud.  Provided you are signing back into the same account, your iCloud data will reappear on your device when you sign back in.
To avoid losing photo stream photos, save them to your camera roll (if not already there) before deleting the account.  To do this, open your my photo stream album, tap Edit, tap the photos, tap Share, then tap Save to Camera Roll.

  • Two Gmail Addresses, which email does the archive folder show?

I have 2 gmail accounts (account A & B). I have account B forward messages to account A through Gmail (not through the Mac Mail program).
When I open the mail program and look at the inbox or archive top level folder (which show both A and B account), which email message am I seeing, from the A account or B account? If I hit delete, is it deleting from the A account or B account?

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
By default, all messages (email, SMS, BBM, etc.) are put into the main Messages icon/app. Some prefer this "unified messages" approach, others prefer to separate things. When using two accounts from the same provider, that could indeed become more challenging to remember which you are working with. Fortunately, the BB provides the ability to split things out according to your desires, and there should be no issue integrating two GMail accounts to the same BB (but for what you are concerned about, of course!).
Your 9860 should have the option to allow you to dictate what shows in Messages:
Homescreen > Messages > > Options > (Main Message List Settings) or (Inbox Settings) or (Inbox Management)
Uncheck what you want to suppress from Messages, enabling a separate icon for those you uncheck
    Good luck!

Honesty just send it to Apple or take it into a Apple store, it may seem like a pain but its worth it plus you wouldnt want to damage it farther.

  • ICloud flags known good email as junk!

For the past few months, iCloud mail has frequently flagged known good email as junk. In all cases, the messages that are flagged are from correspondents who have been sending me messages for years without any problem. Now, all of a sudden, iCloud thinks these messages are junk—and continues to flag them as junk no matter how many times I tell iCloud that they are "not junk".
I also see that Apple offers iCloud tech support only to those whose computers are still in warranty. What's with that?! No email support, no nothing.
    Suggestions appreciated.

    - Add the thumbs down button to your mail toolbar as other commenters have noted (View>Customize Toolbar).
    - Open your junk mail folder and find one of the messages that should not have been marked as junk.
    - Hit the "Thumbs Down" button.
    - A banner will appear at the top of the message preview window that says "You marked this a junk mail."
    - In that banner will be a "Not Junk" button.
Contrary to Apple's principle, this is not very intuitive, and it places the blame/responsibility for the mis-categorization back on the user ("YOU marked..."). However, this method does work to keep future messages like the ones you've unmarked from landing in your Junk folder.

  • I created an Apple ID for my daughter with her own gmail address, but I want her Apple ID and primary email address to be an iCloud email address. How can I do this? I can't set up an icould email address for her without first creating an Apple ID?

I have created an Apple ID for my daughter with her own gmail address as the primary email address, but I want her Apple ID and primary email address to be an iCloud email address. How can I do this? I can't set up an icould email address for her without first creating an Apple ID right?
I'm not good with computers so please explain in simple way...:)
I also wonder what the best way is to set up accounts for children in a family. I dont want them to be able to purchase apps etc through the parents accounts, also some things we like to share as a family and others we don't want to share. Is there any good. clear, simple explanation from Apple Support about these issues? Or best to go to Apple store and go to genius bar or one to one advise?
    thanks

You can set up an iCloud account which makes the iCloud email address you choose the Apple ID and thus the login for it:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/22283348#22283348
though I have to say I think it's more sensible if the ID is another address, both for security reasons (so people don't know what the login is) and as a contact address from Apple if the account were to stop working and they needed to contact you. So personally I would to to System Preferences, enter the GMail address which is an ID, and then choose a nerw @icloud.com address.
If she has her own iCloud account she will need either her own computer or her own user account on your Mac to be able to make use of it. You should note that under Apple's terms of use Apple IDs are only available to children of 13 and over.
As to purchasing apps, this is nothing to do with iCloud: it's iTunes, and the login can be different. So you can all sign into the same iTunes account but have different iCloud accounts. Or she can have her own iTunes account if she is of suitable age (credit card needed for purchasing apps).
If you have other children you should be aware that any one Mac or device can create only three iCloud accounts - this is tied to the serial number, not the user account, and once reached cannot be bypassed. You can of course sign into an iCloud account created on another device.

  • Re: Email account still active after account closed

    bump

    Hi there!
There are two sets of credentials to discuss...and I can't tell for sure which you are referring to, so I'll cover both...
BIS Credentials -- BIS is the service, controlled by your carrier, that functions as the conduit between your email services (e.g., Yahoo, Gmail, etc.) and your BB. BIS has separate credentials of it's own, and stores the credentials for all of the email accounts that you configure. The ID/PWD can be whatever you want them to be.
Email Credentials -- these are your email services (e.g., Yahoo, GMail) and they each have their own credentials. These credentials are what is stored inside of your BIS account.
So, from what you said, it sounds like you changed, at your email server, your email credentials and you need to therefore change what you have stored inside of BIS, but you are unable to log into BIS to do so. Is that correct?
If so, you need to contact your carrier -- they control your BIS account, including the credentials that you created sometime in the past.
Good luck and let us know!
