ICloud Trial: to discontinue

Hi,
Have been looking where to not extend the trial I have at iCloud. Can someone tell me where this can be done in the Oracle Cloud services or admin section?
Cheers,
Patrick

The trial version of CodeTwo Sync for iCloud is fully functional for 30-days. After this period, the program stops synchronizing your Outlook and iCloud folders.

  • Pages won't open document

We are getting an increased number of users all with files that refuse to open in Pages 5, particularly Pages 5.1.
I have gone over several of them and been unable to correct the problem, only able to open the Document.iwa sub file in the package to look at the mix of text snippets and I presume .xml.
Apple reportedly has also examined these and been unable to rectify them.
To aid some kind of resolution I ask that users who have had the problem post here, detailing the last things they did with the file and whether there is anything particular to the files that may be leading to the problem.
Particularly relevant would be where and how the files were last saved.
Are they being transferred or backed up to iCloud?
Are you using 3rd party syching or backup solutions like DropBox?
Are they being re-edited on iDevices, iWork for iCloud beta or back and forth from Word .doc?
Were there any preceeding warnings or difficulties of any kind with the document?
Or anything else you can think of.
    Thank you,
    Peter

Particularly relevant would be where and how the files were last saved.
All documents were made and stored on iMac, early 2010, Mavericks OS 9.2; Pages 5.1; Numbers 3.1; some documents on  Snow Leopard, then Mountain Lion until November 2013 then Mavericks.
I often have to go to lengths which I don't understand to open Pages 5.1 since the iCloud trial.  I just stumble around and try stuff until I get in.
Are they being transferred or backed up to iCloud?
I tried iCloud hoping to have access from the Android smartphone, particularly contact information when away from the office.  It screwed everything up so bad immediately, especially Mac Mail Ver. 7.2 so that I couldn't receive mail, would hang up frequently, block the shut down process  and would need force quit.  Even force quit commonly would not work and I would have to pull the plug from the wall.  I have disabled iCloud the best I can, sacrificing any potential collaboration in favour of getting the Mac back.  My son-in-law has an up-to-date iPhone and I cannot receive mail from it.
Are you using 3rd party syching or backup solutions like DropBox?
I have DropBox installed but don't use it.  No synching of any type.
Are they being re-edited on iDevices, iWork for iCloud beta or back and forth from Word .doc?
Most everybody that I work with used .docx and I can translate back and forth perfectly between Pages and Word. I don't use any other device or editor.
Were there any preceeding warnings or difficulties of any kind with the document?
It is very common upon opening documents that have not been opened since Mavericks was installed - I don't remember the exact terminology - but  the effect of which means that 'this document was made in an older version of Pages. Do you wish to update it to Pages 5.1?'  I tried for a while to avoid 5.1, preferring 4.3, but have given up and do a lot of head-scratching but make Pages 5.1 do what I need.
I am very satisfied with my internal network and connections through FibreOp.
Thanks for your very great efforts Peter.  Forums can be critical and nasty; I prefer to be positive and complimentary when deserved.  You desrerve it.

  • I have a .mac email address, can i use this as a regular email address?

I have a .mac email address which i set up for ichat (ages ago) how can i use this as a regular email address in an email client? Is there SMTP/POP details?

With the introduction of iCloud, Apple has discontinued its "@mac.com" addresses support and has switched to Users using "@me.com" suffixes.  To utilize this you will need to setup an iCloud account with a new Apple ID. And Apple discontinued iChat and has switched to Messages.app, using Apple ID's.
    Hope this helps

  • Can't activate sport app due to previous BT accoun...

I'm on an Infinity contract and when trying to activate the BT Sport app I get error ref# CON-0003.  On speaking with faults they say it's because my number has previously been part of fibre to the premises trials (firstly business then home) and the number hasn't been released by one or the other of them.  My contacts for the trials are discontinued so I don't know where to start.  I'd be glad for suggestions on how to can get my number released so that I can activate this app.

You'd better send us your details for this one Bluesocks, if you haven't managed to get someone to sort it already. I'll PM you with instructions on how to get in touch.

  • Apple.DAV.Appointment cannot be opened. Comments please.

This problem began some time ago. I have seen others with "fixes" of deleting emails, recurring appointments, archival information, etc. which seem rather useless since they only seem to address the sympton & not the problem. Others have tried other things with limited success, if any. I have tried a lot of things as well. Setting my parameters out for others may help to identify where the problem actually is since both Apple & Microsoft both do not know how to fix this & keep throwing out try this; try that "solutions".
Consider that Outlook 2007 (which is my current email program) has not changed for a considerable time now (we are up to Outlook 2013 now) so if a reasonable assumption is made here, it is that Outlook 2007 is not the problem (consider that users of Outlook 2010 & Outlook 2013 report the same problem but not for earlier Outlook programs which indicates where the problem may be located).
Consider that I have been using Outlook 2007 right after Outlook 2003 with no problems like this until I got an iPhone & started trying to sync my Outlook 2007 to the iPhone (I had a Nokia 3120 which I was syncing with Outlook 2003 & Outlook 2007 with no problems other than those I created myself - & fixed.)
I originally set up iCloud but later discontinued using it since I was not convinced as to its security as well as the 5GB (I think) was really too small for a 16GB iPhone. Sometime after discontinuing iCloud & updating iTunes to 11.0.x version this problem began.
Since Apple seems to be the culprit in constantly making changes to their programs, I would suggest to Apple that the problem is theirs & maybe relates to their programs syncing with Outlook 2007, 2010, 2013 & that eliminating Outlook recurring appointments or old/archived info is not the problem. If this were the problem, I would suggest to anyone who has been "successful" in "correcting" the problem will, once again, encounter the same thing whenever they reach the conditions that prompted the issue in the first place (hence this is a fix for the symptom not a fix for problem conclusion).
My original OS for my computer (64bit) was Vista Professional (with all SP's). The problem noted here did not occur in Vista (I was also using the Nokia phone at the time). I upgraded to Windows 7 Home Premium (including SP1) during which time I switched from the Nokia to the IPhone (3g) with no problem (I believe that iCloud wasn't available to the time). I then switched to the iPhone 4 & after some time iCloud was introduced & somewhere along the time of the version 11.x.x for iTunes was introduced, this problem began for me.
Given the above, does anyone have any kind of logical explanation that could lead to a real solution rather than a fix. Obviously updating Outlook to 2010 or 2013 (or later?) is not the solution since all versions seem to encounter the same problem. Much as I don't care for Microsoft, I do not see (logically) that they are the problem in this.

    eascpa,
Thanks for such a detailed chronology. I have the same problem with the error message. It has now dawned on me that the same exact problem that has also happened to me is do to the introduction of the iCloud on my iPhone 4S. I too have gone from Win Vista to Win 7 to Win 8 on two different computers and the have gone from Outlook 7 to 10 and only experience this item on the one computer that I have the iCloud activated on. I only use the iCloud for ease of camera reel transfers to my base computer. I had it syncing with my calendars for a while but stopped it in hopes of ending the error message. Didn’t work. Though your post does not provide a solution it does provide a validation of where the problem is emanating from. Further but focused research can now be had. Thanks!

    Hello mrmacjohn,
Verifying that any iCloud account that may be signed in is signed out should resolve this error.
On your Mac, open iCloud preferences, then click Sign Out.

  • My phone was stolen and I discontinued cell service to the phone through my provider. Before discontinuing service, I locked my phone from the icloud. Now that it is no longer being serviced by the service provider, will it remain locked?

My phone was stolen and I discontinued cell service to the phone through my provider. However, before discontinuing service, I locked my phone from the icloud. Now that it is no longer being serviced by the service provider, will the phone remain locked?

Thanks, James. Sadly, I had not upgraded to iOS 7 as I only had an iphone 4 and those I knew with the 4 who upgraded had major issues with battery life, so I decided not to upgrade. However, I know the phone was locked because the new "owner" called and hung up on me while calling the number I listed in the "This phone is stolen message" set by the cloud. Are you saying that my phone will remain locked if they don't know how to break into it? Or are you saying that it will no longer stay locked once I turned off service to the phone?

    Yes.

Software updates don't upgrade your current operating system to a new one, you have to purchase a newer operting system if you want one.
If you want iCloud, first you have to upgrade to Snow Leopard 10.6.6 (10.6.8 preferred), then you can download Lion from the app store.
Snow Leopard requirements:  $29 USD from Apple : http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A
Mac computer with an Intel processor
    1GB of memory
    5GB of available disk space
    DVD drive for installation
Lion general requirements: $29 USD app store.
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
    2GB of memory
    OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
    7GB of available space

It appears that I cannot share documents between my iMacs and and Mac air using icloud without first opening document in and IOS device.  Is this true.  If so, then icould is petty much worthless for me, especially since idisk will be discontinued next year.

You are correct.  However, a document can not be opened by another computer unless the document has first been open by an iDevice.
iwork on iOS uses different file formats ( *.tef ) then iwork09 on Mac ( *.key , *. number , *.page ).
Uploaded documents to icloud.com must first be updated to the *.tef format and then re-written to the cloud system. The online service behind the iwork web-app does the re-conversion to Mac formats, pdf or Microsoft office. All that is happening "in the cloud", not on your Mac as he misses the engine to do the transcoding from the *.tef to the other formats. Mac simply does not know what *.tef is.

  • Anyone have  information about the publicised Free 3 month trial of iCloud for attendees of the Sydney Presentation held last wednesday?

I last purchased product at the release of cs3 and was not allowed to register the software 'because I had had it too long' ... yes, I had several episodes with the Big C and Adobe didn't honour their sale obligations ... should take the case to the Ombudsman ...

If a customer has purchased an earlier full version of product Adobe ought register that product so that it can be use. I purchased product and the tech who looked after the registration which enables you to use the product would not enable the software for use because there was a lag between purchase and request for activation.
Your comment about contacting whoever made the offer of access for attending the presentations is what doesn't make sense because there appears to be no way of contacting the organisers.

  • I would like to cancel my icloud. I am within the 15days trial

I recently bought icloud storage on my iPhone but I realize that I do not really need it so I would like my money back.  I am within the 15 day trial period.  I really appreciate trying it out.  Thank you for your time and help.
    lg2

You can cancel iCloud storage within a period of 45 days, however if this period is more than 15 days you may only get a partial refund.
Contact AppleCare (or Apple ID Support), upon speaking to an operator you should explain that your problem is related to your Apple ID, this way you will not be charged for assistance, even if you don’t have an AppleCare plan.
If you have been using additional iCloud storage for more than 45 days, you can cancel your next years renewal here.

I've signed up for additional icloud storage each month and want to discontinue this.  How do I do this?

    <Personal Information Edited by Host>

See these links:  Manage your iCloud storage - Apple Support
And particularly:  downgrade your storage plan
But better don't post order numbers in this public forum - that is not safe. I'll ask the hosts to remove the number.
    OS X:
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click iCloud.
Click Manage in the lower-right corner.
Click Change Storage Plan in the upper-right corner.
    Click Downgrade Options.
Enter your Apple ID password, then click Manage.
Choose a different plan to use when your current storage plan expires.
    Click Done.

    How do I discontinue iCloud?

    ThatBenGuy wrote:
Just keep in mind since this is a free account, there is no subscription to cancel.  It will stay available for use if you want to go back to it later.
I found it consumed a large amount of bandwidth. My average upload went from 500mb in a 30 day period to over 2GB. Being on satellite modem, I'm capped, I had to come off. And, I wasnt' synching iTunes.
It took several attempts to finally disable it. Basically you have to back up everything that syncs turn off iCloud on everything. Note it is in preferences but it is also tied to mail so make sure you disable everywhere.
