ICloud uploader stuck

I purchased the 200GB plan to get all my photos into iCloud, and started the upload around 36 hours ago. So far, only a few hundred images have uploaded. the counter in Photos Preferences has been stuck on the same number most of the day. I even restarted the Mac to give it a kick-start, but no dice. The Console app reports many lines like this:
4/10/15 10:19:37.270 PM cloudphotosd[345]: Skipping operation <CSLibraryManagerFetchMissingResourcesOperation: 0x7fa93b51f530>{name = '(null)'}, library manager operation duplicate to another operation

No idea what's preventing the upload from continuing or how to fix. Anyone else seeing this? Or is it intended to go really slowly to save bandwidth?
Thanks.

Also a bunch of these:

Correct you cannot see the photos on iCloud. To see the photos use any Apple devices and sign it with your Apple ID and you see them in Photos App.

I tried un-installing and then left the default folders this time (last time i changed it from my C to my E drive) seems to work using the Default folder.

  • Photos library upload stuck/slow/stuck again...?

    Hi all,
I downloaded / upgraded to Photos about week and a half ago. I've been looking forward to geting the update and to finally get my whole iPhoto library uploaded and properly synced up with iCloud. I started immediately converting the library as is the procedure and the the wait started....
Its now becoming a joke, I've read a few threads around here and it seems like a lot of people have similar problems but no one seems to have a genuine solution to the problem. I can understand that the process of uploading 79GB may take time but then it gets stuck and sits there without anything happening.
I have tried restarting, disconnect/connect iCloud, repair the library, removed all videos, consolidated all referenced images, removed all RAW files and rebooted numerous times. I still cant seem to get unstuck.
After my latest repair of the library and a restart its now saying its uploading more files than the library contains....***?
    Anyone got any ideas...?
    /Fred

I am having similar issues, since lates OS update.  I have spent hours with apple care techs (4 different) and even took mac book pro into Genius Bar.  My conclusion:  my up load speed is too slow, if I pause the Photo up load to iCloud, in photo preferences, my network connection seems fine.  If I keep up loading, going on 4th day, my internet connection gets jammed up and intermittent.  I have a 15mbps down load and a 1Mbps up load. One tech support guy suggests buy into a faster up load speed, 2mbps minimun or go into Apple Store and up load library there.
Now i question the wisdom of even using the cloud for my photo library.  And if i turn off this  preference I get the message that I will loose items on my Mac photo library.  What's the deal?  Should I really be experiencing this issue affecting all my Apple devices on my network?

  • ICloud Restore stuck - keeps asking for old Apple ID

    Hello,
I've just gotten a iPhone 4S that I want to restore from an iCloud backup (I've had a 3GS previously). Unfortunately I'm running into problems as the restore process just doesn't finish. Some settings are restored just fine (contacts, messages, browser history, ...) while others are causing problems. In particular the photos & apps are not being downloaded. Apps are recognized but just sit on my screen "waiting".
I suspect that the cause for all this is that the last backup is from March 2012 (my 3GS died then) and in the meantime I've changed my Apple ID. During the restore it keeps asking for my old Apple ID, which is not longer active & I cannot log into.
Now I'm stuck since the phone decides to set the iCloud account to the old one and this cannot be changed as it tells me that I cannot delete the iCloud account during a restore is in progress...
Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated! Unforunately I don't have an iTunes backup and I really don't want to lose my data (especially the photos).
    Cheers,
    Florian

The solution to fix this mess was to temporarily change my AppleID name back to the one that was active when the iCloud backup was being made.

  • Can't get photos in iCloud upload folder on pc to upload - help?

I've asked this question before but no answer for the problem. I believe I have everything set up properly on all my iOs devices and on my PC (where I have the iCloud control panel working). The problem is that any pictures I drop into the Upload folder for photostream don't ever upload to the cloud. All the pics I take on my iPhone or iPad will show up in the download folder on my PC, but not the other way around. I've logged out of iCloud on the PC and logged back in but hasn't helped. I've changed the upload folder, but that doesn't matter.
We take lots of photos that are loaded by SD card onto our pc and want many of them loaded to iCloud for viewing on our iOs devices but just can't figure it out.
    Any help would be appreciated!

    Two tips:
    (1) Are you sure that the "My Photostream" function on each and every one of your iOS devices is turned ON?
    (2) In my experience, once the My Photostream function is on, dragging and dropping still photos into the Uploads folder works. But it does not (for me, at least) work for videos.  I thought it would.
Hope this helps. If you -- dwcliff -- or anybody else reading this reply would like me to clarfy anything further, as your questions, and I will respond to them as best I can!

  • Pages error: no iCloud upload must have Yosemite

Really?  I can't find where Yosemite has been released.  Am I missing something obvious?
I'm not really all that concerned about not being able to upload a document to iCloud but it's annoying nonetheless.  I'm paying for extra storage and can't use it with Pages documents because I don't have Yosemite.

Do you have a mobile device running iOS 8?  If so and you activated the iCloud Drive with it that's the reason you can't sync documents as you did before.  The developer release notes for Yosemite states the following:
    iCloud Drive Note
Migrating to iCloud Drive will disable Documents & Data syncing for your iCloud account on OS X Mavericks and earlier Macs, as well as iOS 7 and earlier devices.
Yosemite is expected to be released very soon, maybe even tomorrow at the Apple event.  Once it is and you upgrade your Mac to it you'll be able to sync the documents again, but differently.

  • FINALLY getting to the end of the iCloud upload...

After a week, I am almost through about 23,000 songs (slow internet that has to reset daily).  A lot of songs matched, lots were uploaded, and a few were eneligible since they belong to another apple account (and just deleted).  The remaining were converted to AAC files (since they were low bit count I guess they had to be changed) and they now appeared to get uploaded or match, if not they got deleted.  Have yet to try and pull music down to another device since won't do it while it is uploading.  We will see how that goes.
    QUESTION:
    1.  If a file is listed as UPLOADED, and then I changed the Metadata on my local copy (say add more band info or correct spelling), will it change the info in iCloud?  Or once it is in the cloud, it is there permanently until it is deleted and uploaded.
    2.  When all is done, it appears I am to DELETE all the MATCHED songs in order to download the improved sound quality version (I assume the uploaded stay the same quality as uploaded so I don't need to do them).  Is this correct?

  • Will iCloud upload all documents (not just those created in pages?) on my hard drive?

Do we have the option of uploading other documents not created by Pages, for example. Documents created by TextEdit, PDF files, Word, etc.?

No. iCloud does not provide general file storage in the manner of MobileMe's iDisk: in this regard its space is only for direct access by compliant programs, currently only iWork.
There are many online alternatives: this page examines some options -

  • Can iCloud Upload be Throttled?

I have a large (170 gig) photo library that I'd like to upload to iCloud via Yosemite Photos.  The problem is that the upload is overwhelming my modem, effectively crashing it (my cable co says it's going into a "no ping state").  When this happens, I lose all interest connectivity (and my phone too).
Is there a way to throttle the upload speed?  I've tried thinking with Entonnior and throttling port 443, but no luck (PS  I only sort of know what I'm doing).

You might want to look at Dropbox then which does exactly what you want. You can set the bandwidth limit for uploads or downloads for that matter to whatever you want. Unfortunately though they offer a one size fits all plan of 1 TB for 99 bucks annually or bust. On the other hand, it is an established reliable service and you get the control you want which iCloud lacks.
iCloud is very simplistic, to a fault. I do not consider it useful for keeping anything at this point beyond maybe documents and mail.
I wish Apple would get serious about iCloud and make it much better but so far I am not seeing it.
Here's another kicker in my opinion. You may care about this also given the size of your upload. That still lives on your startup drive whether you want it to or not. Maybe you know that. The thinking being I am sure, it is convenient if internet access is lost to still have access to the files which can be synced once it is restored. For some stuff that's a good thing in my mind. For storage or archival purposes it is badness and there is no way to change it presently.
That's another nice thing about Dropbox, selective sync. You can control which folders sync locally and which do not. You cannot do this with iCloud.

  • Yosemite new photo app and icloud: uploading photos

I have upload problems: it looks as if uploading c.100,000 photos of c. 1 TB will take 10,000 days at c. 10 photos per day (my current speed) ! What am I doing wrong? I understand I need to not do this on wifi and my upload speed of less than 1Mbps may prohibit a reasonable upload time. Any advice? I'm moving the photos to icloud and not keeping them on the mac to free space (it only has 1 TB) - I therefore need to keep original size which may be a problem if each individual image is large....

Your photos are likely fine, however are you saying your updated your computer and do not back it up regularly? If so then you photo library is not only likely fine it also has a backup. If you have not been backing up, you should begin doing this regularly. Sooner or later without a backup plan you will lose precious data. Apple has included Time Machine in OS X for about 7 years so there is absolutely no reason to not be backing up.
So take a deep breath, relax and let Photo's do it's thing and then learn how to use the app.
Finally, giving idle threats to Apple serves no value. I have asked the moderator to remove that portion of your post as it is off topic and violates the Terms of Use you agreed to.

  • ICloud uploads fail

Keynote/Powerpoint uploads run a minute or two then I get ...presentation failed to upload..... Happens in both Safari and Firefox. Speed check with my SP is good. Files range in size from 25-250MB. No diagnostic tools, not even a hint on what could be wrong.

I am having a similar problem except that now it is affecting both my iphone 5s and my ipad Air. both 64gb and both on 7.1.
Have tried all the steps suggested including turning off icloud completely and deleting all backups. If I watch in xcode I see varying errors related to:
<Warning>: WARNING: Error putting item into chunk store: /var/mobile/Library/SMS/sms.db
But the file itself varies. I have also tried turning off imessage and turning off all apps in the icloud backup.
I've tried creating a new icloud account and the same failure applies.
Have tried on various WIFI networks to rule out a network issue. The kicker is sometimes it will work and will back up. However even if I change nothing on the phone after getting a successful backup, the next one will always fail.
So even if I can get a backup to work, immediately after I click Back Up Now and it fails with some varying error.
Have also tried the backing up to itunes and then restoring, setting up as new and trying an icloud backup and it still fails. Yes I am able to get to a secure website on both devices.
