Icloud with 2 iphone 4's

My husband and I both have an iphone 4 and we share an iTunes account.  I recently updated both phones to the new software and created an icloud account.  I messed up though and started deleting my phone contacts off of his phone.  But then realized that it was deleting them off my phone too.  Is there anyway to get those contacts back?  I tried restoring my phone-I have it set up to back up from iTunes-but that didn't work.
How do I use iCloud without my husband and I having to share the same calendars, contacts etc but still have the same iTunes account?  Is there away that I can start over with iCloud?  Obviously I should have researched the iCloud stuff better....
Thank you,

You have to restore the iPad from the backup of the phone in order to transfer the saved data - which is included in the phone's backup - to the iPad. When you restore from a backup - you restore ALL app data and settings to the device. You can't selectively restore one app's or one game's data.
Read this and the links in the article as well.

This one specifically talks about restoring from a backup.

  • Set up iCloud with iPhone and iMac, and all my calendar items disappeared from my iPhone.  Help?

I had a full calendar on my iPhone4 before I activated iCloud on my iMac and iPhone.  All that's left on the iPhone calendar are a few birthdays.  Can someone please tell me how to sync my iMac with my iPhone via iCloud (boy, that's a lot of "i's")??

If you are going to use iCloud then stop using iTunes. Set up 2 user accounts on your PC, one for you and one for her, in each account enter the correct iCloud credentials (ie: yours for you and hers for her), do not sync the items that are on iCloud with iTunes, it will make a mess.

  • How to use icloud with iphone

I am very confused on how to sync or use my cloud on my Mac with my new IPhone 5S.  I have all the settings on the phone correct.  On the Mac, under Preferences, there is no "cloud" item for me to choose to set up, only mobile me and I get error if clicking it.  I do have a cloud "folder" listed on the sidebar menu under Finder along with Desktop, Our Name, Applications, Cloud Drive, Documents.  However, there is nothing in the cloud and I have my phone set to upload everything.
I've even looked in IPhoto and there is only a mobile me icon, which does nothing if I click it.  I don't see a way to upload pictures.
I also have a symbol that looks like a cloud across the top menu where the volume button is, but it doesn't do anything if you try to click it.
I just purchased my IPhone and would like to share my pictures on my Mac.  How can I do this?  Thank you so much for any help you can share.
I also believe it is the same Apple ID account for both.  I input the information in my phone to set it up.

Here lies your issue... OS X 10.6.8 = Snow leopard is too Old for iCloud.
However... you can access iCloud.com using Safari in Snow Leopard.

  • Macbook pro calendar not syncing (via iCloud) with iPhone 4s

After looking through a few discussions I see some users having issues in syncing their calendars (from their computer) on to their iphone.
I recently upgraded to Mountain Lion and this seems to be the key issue.
I was showed from an Apple genius that when syncing via icloud (and to avoid duplicate calendar entries) is to uncheck sync, contacts and calendars.
Which I have and I do have icloud "ON" in my phone. But whenever I update my calendar entries on my Apple laptop it no longer syncs to the iphone.
Would anyone have any leads as to why it's no longer syncing? I'm pretty good at troubleshooting but I'm at a loss with this one.
    thanks in advance    Aimee

  • Can't restore from iCloud with iPhone (iOS 6.0.1) if backup was made using iOS 6.1

I lost my iPhone, got a new one then I was grateful a was using iCloud but...
iOS 6.0.1 won't allow me to restore my last backup because it was made using ios 6.1.
There is not way to select this backup. Luckily for me, there is still a old backup made using iOS 6.0.1.
So I reconfigured the iPhone as a new phone, updated the software to 6.1.

Unfortunately, in order to restore a backup from the cloud, I had to reset the phone. So It went back to iOS 6.0.1
Is there a different way to retrieve a backup from iCloud?

If you plug it into a computer to install the update and then the backup, it should work. (At least, it did with my 4th Gen iTouch).

  • Using iCloud with iPhone

I am having a hard time with space on my phone and needing to know if I am able to move apps to my iCloud so that I have memory freeded up to install the new system update.

This is caused by using the same iCloud account on both phones.  When you do this any data you sync with the shared iCloud account such as contacts is merged and will appear on all devices connected to the account.  To fix this you both need to have separate iCloud accounts (you can continue to share the same Apple ID for purchasing from the iTunes and app stores).
Decide which iPhone will be keeping the current iCloud account.  On the one that will be changing accounts, if you have any photos in photo stream that are not in your camera roll or backed up somewhere else save these to your camera roll by opening the photo stream album in the thumbnail view, tapping Edit, then tap all the photos you want to save, tap Share and tap Save to Camera Roll.
Once this is done, go to Settings>iCloud, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.  (This will only delete the account from this phone, not from iCloud.  The phone that will be keeping the account will not be effected by this.)  When prompted about what to do with the iCloud data, be sure to select Keep On My iPhone.  Next, set up a new iCloud account using a different Apple ID (if you don't have one, tap Get a Free Apple ID at the bottom to create one).  Then turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On, and when prompted about merging with iCloud, choose Merge.  This will upload the data to the new account.
Finally, to un-merge the data you will then have to go to icloud.com on your computer and sign into each iCloud account separately and manually delete the data you don't want (such as deleting the other your husband's contacts from your account, and vice versa).
You also should avoid using the same ID for iMessage and FaceTime or you will end up getting each other's text messages and FaceTime calls.  If you are, on one of the phones, go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and to Settings FaceTime, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with a different ID.

  • HT4623 How to sync iCloud with iPhone 3G & MacBook Pro

HELP!  Having serious syncing problems with iCloud
Problem 1: Syncing my iPhone 3G (calendar and contacts) and MacBook Pro with iCloud - All accounts are "enabled"
Problem 2: Contacts appearing in duplication on my iMac Contacts and iPhone (when it was syncing)

Probem 1: I assume you have a 3GS, not a 3G since the 3G can't run iOS 5 and thus can't use iCloud.  Assume that's true, exactly what happens that causes you to believe that it isn't syncing?
Problem 2:  Duplicates are caused by trying to sync your contacts with both iTunes and iCloud.  You have to pick one, not both.  If you want to sync with iCloud, uncheck sync contacts on the Info tab of your iTunes sync settings and sync your phone.  (Same is true for calendars.)

  • HT204053 icloud with iphone 5

I have one apple ID but 2 iphones 5 and 1 ipad so how can i sync and backup data to icloud seperately

All device backups are separate.  If all your devices are sharing the same iCloud account, the backups, while separate, will all share the same iCloud account storage.  If you set up separate iCloud accounts on each device, they would each have their own separate 5GBs of free iCoud storage to contain the backup and other data.  However, this will require a separate Apple ID for each account and you would no longer be sharing synced data between these devices.

  • ICloud with iPhone 1st gen

Hi there - a friend of mine is long term user of MobileMe and asks me if there will be a possibility for him to get his email on his old iPhone 1st gen after going to iCloud. Can anyone give me some insight on this matter? Thanks in advance.

On the first gen, he can't upgrade to iOS 5, hence he can't use iCloud, which requires iOS 5.  His mobileme will eventually go out of service at the end of June, so he is definitely near the end of using his MobileMe email unless he gets a newer generation iPhone.

  • How to access pdf files on icloud with iphone

Does anyone know how to access pdf files on icloud when saved to icloud on a mac?

At the moment, you can't.  A favourite complaint.  Hopefully, the situation will change in the near future, but only Apple knows when or if.

  • Sync icloud with iphone after directly entering an appointment on phone

When I enter an appointment directly on my iphone to my calendar it does not sync to my outlook. It will work the other way around. Enter directly into outlook and iclould will sync to my iphone calendar.

Go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>scroll down to the Calendars section and tap Default Calendar.  Here confirm that you have selected your Outlook calendar and not, for example, the calendar under On My iPhone.  If you make a change, enter a new event on your phone and confirm that it sync to Outlook correctely.

You need to go to System Preferences (this may be called Settings in Mountain LIon)>iCloud and sign out. Then sign in with the new ID.

    I have same question

You need OSX 10.7.2 or higher in order to access icloud.  The mobile me account is now defunct (it closed down more than a year ago).

To change the iCloud ID you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iPhone (if you're using iOS 7), then sign back in with the ID you wish to use.  If you don't know the password for your old ID, or if it isn't accepted, go to https//appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Tap edit next to the primary email account, tap Edit, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https//appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

  • How can I change my Apple ID for iCloud on iPhone 5 with iOS7?

How can I change my Apple ID for iCloud on iPhone 5 with iOS7? When I updated to iOS7 it kept my old ID on some features and my new one on others. I was able to change my Apple ID on all apps except iCloud. I don't have the original email account I used when setting up my iPhone with the old Apple ID and I have no clue what the password was. It appears I first need to turn off "Find my iPhone" which requires the old Apple ID, then I can delete the iCloud account. I want to use my current Apple ID to be able to use the "Find my iPhone" feature in iOS7. I hope someone can help!!

    GmaL2 wrote:
That doesn't help. It's an old email that doesn't work anymore. Please read the entire post. iOS7 won't let you delete iCloud unless you have the password for the old/inactive email/Apple ID.
You never mentioned that you didn't have access to that email.  There are some specific steps you can perform to retrieve the old Apple ID password.
