ICloud won't delete account

I Recently noticed that the user name associated with iCloud on my iPhone 5s is in another name. (Probably the previous owner) I could have sworn I changed this when first bought it but obviously not. Anyway, I want to change it to my user name now and seem to be having difficulty doing so. It won't let me delete account to add a new one in my name unless the previous password associated with the old owner is put in, and I don't have that now. It also won't let me switch off find my iphone unless old password is typed in, but it did let me turn it on without old password........strange.
ANyway, I have tried contacting the person I bought it off but no answer. The phone itself works perfectly, it's just I can't log into iCloud or delete old users iCloud without the password.
IS there any other way round this??

  • How to empty iCloud mailbox without deleting account

I have a Wi-Fi camera that emails me video clips every day. Those emails go into my iCloud mailbox. I've never deleted them and now my iCloud is full and I wanted to make room by deleting all the mail in the iCloud mailbox without deleting the account.  is there any easy way to do this?
    Thank you so much
    George

Open your mail on icloud.com, click each folder on the left (such as your inbox), click on a single message to the right, press Control-A on your keyboard to select them all, then press your Delete key.  Repeat this for each of your mail folders except Trash.  When finished, click on the actions (gear-shaped) icon on the bottom left and select Empty Trash.
Note: this is permanent, and will delete the email from your devices/computers too, so be sure there isn't anything you want to keep.

  • Mac Mail won't delete account

I am trying to delete an account from Mac Mail. It tells me it is an Internet account and that I need to delete it from the Internet System Preference window. When I go to the Internet Preference pane, that account is not listed and therefore can not be deleted from there.

Problems such as yours are sometimes caused by files that should belong to you but are locked or have wrong permissions. This procedure will check for such files. It makes no changes and therefore is not, in itself, a solution.
First, empty the Trash, if possible.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it, then copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
    find ~ $TMPDIR.. \( -flags +sappnd,schg,uappnd,uchg -o ! -user $UID -o ! -perm -600 \) 2>&- | wc -l | pbcopy
Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
Paste into the Terminal window by pressing command-V. The command may take a noticeable amount of time to run.
Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) to appear.
The output of the command will be a number. It's automatically copied to the Clipboard. Please paste it into a reply.
The Terminal window doesn't show the output. Please don't copy anything from there.

  • My iCloud is showing the my old email adderess, and won't delete so i can sign on using the correct adderess

I am able to erase the old sign on, to get anywhere else. Including this forum to ask this question. However when I updated my Icloud to the new version, it shows my old email it black pre written, with no text box and is just asking for my password. Which shows up wrong bc the sign on email that they have is wrong. How do I change that on my computer. With out deleting Icloud and starting over. Which im not sure is even an option. What would any one recommend I do?

You need to sign out completely from iCloud on all your devices, and then sign back in again. Your iCloud data will disappear from the Mac/device when you sign out but reappear when you sign back in (give it time to download again).
On your Mac, go to System Preferences>iCloud and click 'Sign out'.
On an iOS device go to Settings>iCloud and click 'Delete account' (this does not delete the account from the server).

  • HT204053 I changed my Apple ID to reflect my new email address but it does not allow me to change it in iCloud or my iTunes account on my iPhone.  Can anyone help me with this?

I recently changed my email address and have changed my Apple ID to reflect that.  My itunes account will work on my PC with that new ID but my iCloud will not.  Also, my iPhone will not use my new email address for either itunes or icloud.  I don't know how to change it.
I read that if, on your iPhone you delete your iCloud account, you just open a new one with your new email address.  Is that true, and, if you do that, do you lose your photos on your iPhone.  AND, if you lose your photos on your iPhone, will they be pushed back to your iPhone if you manually sync your phone and PC?
I am hoping someone out there can help!
    Thank you.

If you only changed the name of your ID rather than creating a new ID, just go to Settins>iCloud and tap Delete Account then sign back in with the new name.  (Deleting the account from your phone does not delete it from iCloud.  Your data will be synced back to your phone when you sign back in.)
If you created a new ID, you'll have to go to Settings>iCloud on your phone and turn all data you are syncing with iCloud (contacts, calendars, etc.) to Off.  When prompted choose to keep the data on your iPhone.  (If you are syncing iWork documents with iCloud, also open your iWork apps and turn off iCloud syncing and choose to keep the documents on your phone.)  After everything is turned off, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.  Next, set up a new iCloud account using your other ID, then turn syncing for your data (contacts, etc.) back to On.  When prompted, choose Merge.  This will upload the data to your new account.
You won't lose any photos in your camera roll or photo library.  If you have any photos in your photo stream that are over 30 days old that are not in your camera roll or saved on your computer, be sure to save these to the camera roll before deleting the account.  To do so, open the photo stream album on your iPhone in the thumbnail view, tap Edit, tap all the photos you need to save to select them, tap Share, then tap Save to Camera Roll.

  • Delete Account on the iPod, will it delete info on my other devices?

My iPhone, iPad and iPod are all associated with the same Apple ID.  How can I remove the iPod and associate it with a new Apple ID without affecting the data on the other devices (note: there is no data on the iPod I want to keep)?
If I go to "Settings', 'iCloud', and then 'Delete Account' on the iPod will it delete everything on the other devices too?

No. Deleting the iCloud account from a device only deletes the iCloud account information from that device. As you delete it, you will see what iCloud-related information will be deleted. But it will not have any affect on iCloud on other devices.
    Cheers,

  • Changed Apple ID email. iCloud won't recognize it.

I've tried going to iCloud settings to update my account, but my old email is automatically entered and grayed out so I can't edit it. My new info works with the store and logging into this community.Suggestions?

To change you iCloud account ID you have to go to Settings>iCloud and tap Delete Account, then sign back in with the new ID.  When you delete the account it will only delete the account and any synced data from your iPad, not from iCloud.  If you are signing back into the same iCloud account you data will be synced back to your iPad.  (Just turn you data syncing back to On, and when prompted, choose Merge.)

  • I want to delete my gmail on my iPad, yet my iPad won't allow me to access the option. I went on my iPad settings Mail, Contacts, Calendars, although i cannot tap on iCloud, Gmail, or Add Account... How do i fix this?

I want to delete/sign out my gmail on my Ipad, but my ipad won't allow me to delete it.
    Example:
I tapped on Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars, although I cannot tap on iCloud, Gmail, and Add Account...
    how do I fix this?

Sorry, you said Gmail. If that's the case, you can try resetting your iPad by simultaneously pressing and holding the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see the Apple Logo. This can take up to 15 seconds so be patient and don't release the buttons until the logo appears.
Try again to see if the problem persists.

  • MB Air won't let me sign in to iCloud from System Preferences. I reset Keychain Access and deleted Accounts plist. No problem signing in via web and on other Mac.

    Hi all.
I've just been given an Air. I used Migration Assistant to transfer everything (which didn't work very well: no Contacts transferred and the Air Contacts application can't even open manually transferred Contacts Archive .vcf).
Trying to transfer contacts led me to iCloud - I thought I could copy them from there. Then I discovered that I can't sign in to iCloud via System Preferences. I get two error messages. The most common one is 'you cannot sign in at this time'. I've tried every solution on the web: I reinstalled Yosemite. I reset Keychain Access. I deleted Accounts plist.
The other message I occasionally get is 'This is a valid Apple ID but not an iCloud account'. It is: I'm logged on fine on my MBP, iPhone and iPad.
    Any ideas? Thanks in advance,
    Aida

So - I have been having this same issue, and while it's not totally resolved for me, I have figured out what's causing it.  I am running a machine with two hard drives and to keep my documents on a separate drive from the OS/Applications, I used the Advanced Option to specify the location of my home drive for my user account under "Users & Groups".  I've found that if I reset this to the default path of /Macintosh HD/Users/{username}, that it works fine.  However Apple has a bug in that this functionality breaks when you specify your own home directory.  Hopefully, this will be addressed in an update.

  • When I try to delete my account from my iPod it says "If you delete your account, all documents and Photo Stream photos stored in Icloud will be deleted from this iPod touch"  Will I lose my pictures on my iPod?

I changed my email on my computer for my itunes and icloud.  It made me manually change it on my ipod even after I synced.  It won't change my email for my icloud and I have to delete it manually.  "If you delete your account, all documents and Photo Stream photos stored in Icloud will be deleted from this iPod touch" comes up. Will I lose all my data stored on my iPod?

You will only lose your iCloud data, That includes iCloud backup, iCloud Contacts and Calendar, Reminders, Notes, everything listed in Settings>iCloud

  • ICloud won't let me use my iTunes account

I have two iTunes accounts, when I started using iCloud, it started up with my second account, but I want it on my other one. So I deletaccounts icloud account, and tryed to start up one my itunes account I wanted to use, but it won't let me log in with it. I try to type it in and it says "this iCloud account is all ready set up on your iPad". But it comes up with the wrong one (iTunes account I don't want to use). Will I just have to use the ther account?

If the old ID ("username") is an earlier version of your current ID, temporarily recreate the old ID by going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll.  When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

  • My iCloud address on the iPad needs to be changed. If I press "delete account" it tells me I will lose all the content including pictures. How can I change it? I see other people have had the same problem

I have had to change my e mail address but I cannot work out how to amend it on my iCloud account. If I press "delete account" the box appears telling me that I will lose all content including photos if I continue. The box asking for a password keeps appearing but I just press cancel and continue.
I have not attempted to upgrade to iOS 7 until this problem is sorted. Can anyone help please?

If you mean that you created a new icloud account using a new email address as the primary address, then when changing to that account on a device, all data maintained by the old account will be deleted.  I was not aware that photos are included.  But as for photos, ALWAYS sync them to a computer for archiving, never rely on icloud as your only backup.
If you want to keep the contacts, etc. data from the old account, then go to Settings>icloud and turn off the services, one at a time.  When doing so, you are given the choice to keep the data local or delete from the device.  Later, when doing Delete Account and logging into the new account, your data will sync up to it.
If, on the other hand, your changed email address is just an alias in the existig icloud account, then there's no reason to delete the account as the alias is just another link to the same account.

  • Our icloud id has 2 phones being backed up to it.  If I do "delete account" on one iphone, will it delete the other phone or the contents on either?

When I got my iphone this week, I simply used my daughter's icloud account to back up to.  Fortunately, the only thing I backed up was the music, which we both like to have access to, but I had unselected the contacts and calendar for fear of having duplicate contact info.  Now I read that if I hadn't deselected them, it would have created duplicates.  That being said, I suppose I need to create another icloud id for myself so i can just back up my info without merging the two.  If I understand most of the posts I have read so far, if I do the "delete account" on my new phone, my daughter's info and phone will not be affected and will remain under her original icloud id?  Then I can create my own icloud id and back up to it?  I just don't want to lose her information by deleting that account from my phone.  Should I go through the icloud settings on my phone first and deslect all of the options from backing up to the icloud before I delete the icloud account from my phone?  BTW, my daughter's phone is an iphone 4 and mine is the 4s, if that makes any difference.

Deleting the account on your phone only removes if from your phone.  The account and it's data remain intact and doing so will not effect your daughter's phone.
To do this, first go to Settings>iCloud on your phone and turn any synced data (contacts, calendars, etc.) to Off, and when prompted, choose to keep the data on the phone.  When finished, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.  Then set up a new iCloud account with a different Apple ID and turn any data you want to sync with iCloud (contact, calendars, etc.) back to On.  This will upload your data to your new iCloud account.
