ICloud working only selectively on my iPod Touch (4th G)?

This is a bit weird and I'd appreciate any suggestions.  All of a sudden, my iPod Touch isn't getting full iCloud support, it seems.  Photostream works fine, I think, and contacts are syncing with my other devices.  But iBooks are no longer syncing (previously, when I left off reading at a certain point on the iPad, the iPad Touch would open to that place, but it isn't anymore).  Most importantly, I can't get an app called Chronicle 2 to sync.  Having a lot of trouble with that app, i deleted it with the intention of reinstalling it. But when I deleted the app off the iPod Touch, I was able to download it, but it just says "Loading . . . " for the last 4-5 days as it looks in the iCloud for the data on my iPad.
Has anyone else experienced this lately?

  • If you only get an 8g ipod touch 4th generation, how many apps can you get

I want to know if i get an Ipod touch 8G 4th generation, how many apps can i get?

I have one and yeah, as others have mentioned, it depends what apps you're putting on it. However, I have found myself extremely restricted by the 8GB limit. I can only put about a single home screen's worth of new apps on my iPod without it running out of space, and that was after deleting all music, photos, and videos. So... I definitely recommend getting a larger capacity.

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • My iPod touch 4th gen iOS5.1.1 can't be recognised by my computer and I have tried different cables and usb ports but nothing has worked. The iPod is brand new and was only opened today. Any ideas on how to fix this?

I have just today recieved a brand new iPod Touch 4th generation iPod with the latest update. Everything else on the ipod is working and my computer is able to read the camera fine, but iTunes cannot recognise it - even after restarting and trying different USB ports and cables.  There is nothing at all coming up on the device list and iTunes is working as it would if I had no iPod plugged in. This is my first iPod on this computer and I have already tried redownloading iTunes. My computer is a windows XP computer. Does anyone have any idea on how to fix this problem?

Since this is an XP machine, which version of iTunes do you have installed?  Is it the latest version?
Have you tried starting iTunes, attach the USB end of the cable, then while holding the home button on the iPod connect the 30-pin connector end of the cable to the iPod...that is the recovery mode but also should make iTunes see the iPod.
If that doesn't work you may need to take the iPod back and have it tested by the genius bar techs to make sure the connector is not bad.

  • What if my ipod touch 4th generation can't update and now the only option is to restore it. And i don't know what happens if i press restore?

What if my ipod touch 4th generation can't update and now the only option is to restore it.
And i don't know what happens if i press restore?
Will it show my back up and back it up or what?
And if that does happen will all my pictures stil be there?
Also i'm not on a apple computer.

    To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Either a PC or Mac work the same.
The photos in our iPod's Camera Roll album will be restored as will the last 30 days of photos in our PhotoStream album

i have and ipod touch 4th gen that has the white screen of death but my home button doesnt work. how do i reset it?

Restore, if iTunes will let you.  Everything except the password will be restored.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  Be forewarned that it takes a long time.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.

  • Music control only? Nike+ Remote / IPod Touch 2G

I've searched and I don't believe anyone has asked if the Nike+ remote (watch) will work as a music only control on the iPod Touch 2G. I don't use the shoe sensor at all, I just use the remote as a music control device. Nano 3G - no problem. I've opened the Nike+ app while music is playing and successfully got it to skip a track forward or back, but that switches out of the Nike+ app and into the music app, thus disabling the remote.
Does anyone know how / when this will work? Many of us bought the remote for a pure music control device.
    Thanks - Dave

As you noticed, Bluetooth on the iPod Touch currently only works when the Nike+ application is running. iPhone OS 3.0, which is supposed be available later this year for the touch at an additional cost ($9.95), is said to enable bluetooth outside of Nike+, so maybe at that time the remote will work better (and more wireless remotes will become available). Since the Nano uses bluetooth in an adapter, it doesn't have this problem.
I have a Touch, a remote, and the sensor so I did some tests for you and found one option you have now if you are willing to buy a sensor (but you won't have to use it on your shoe):
If I start the Nike+ application, it will only let me select a playlist to play inside the app if I activate it with the shoe sensor. If I cancel out of the sensor detect, it goes back to select playlist and doesn't start the workout.
Also, if I set the music playing, go into nike+, activate with the sensor, and choose "now playing" as the playlist, it will seem to work, but then, just as you indicate, the first forward/back will exit the Nike+ app and I will lose remote control. And this occurs even when using the shoe sensor! So it must have a workout started with a playlist other than 'now playing' selected inside the Nike+ app.
However, if you are willing to buy the sensor ($20) even if you won't use it for exercise and are willing to put up with a few voice prompts, there is a solution.
Start the Nike+ app, choose a workout, choose a playlist, then shake the sensor to get it register. Now you can control music with the remote. You can put the sensor aside. After a minute, the music will pause and the app will tell you 'activity stopped'. Just unpause the music with the remote and you can continue to play music from that playlist without reactivation the sensor. If you want to change playlists, you can open the app, pause the workout, and use the 'change music' button. The remote continues to work without any further sensor input, but you will get voice prompts "activity stopped", "resuming working" anytime you pause/unpause the music.

  • Can i delete songs from ipod touch once i upload them to icloud, can i delete songs from ipod touch once i upload them to icloud

once you upload songs, photos or documents fron ipod touch to icloud, can you delete them from ipod touch to free up memory from ipod touch and can you access them from icloud without downloading to ipod?

You can't upload music to iCloud unless you are an iTunes Match subscriber, and if you are the songs are uploaded or matched from the iTunes library on your computer, not your device.  Photos are only uploaded to Photo Stream temporarily (30 days), for up to 1000 photos so it's not meant to be a permanent storage option.  The uploaded photos are also generally of lower quality than the originals on your device.  Also, only photos taken on your device after turning on Photo Stream are uploaded.  Finally, when you turn Photo Stream on, uploaded photos will be streamed back to your device in a Photo Stream album (so it actually uses some of your memory rather than saving it).  As for documents, only iWork documents are uploaded.
If you really want to free up storage on your device consider more permanent cloud storage services such as DropBox (which will handle photos and all documents).

  • My iPod touch 4th gen keeps asking for my iCloud password and it won't backup to my iCloud anymore.

My iPod touch 4th gen 8gb started to ask me for my iCloud password multiple times even when I put the correct password multiple times. I also checked my iCloud on my iPod and said that the latest backup to iCloud is unknown and says that my iCloud storage details are currently unavailable. Try again later. My iphone 4 also backs up to my iCloud but works perfectly fine. I can't get my email anymore on my iPod either. This started like yesterday and was working fine for a long time.

  • Why is my ipod touch 4th gen with ios 6 only have sound in the speakers but not when I plug my headphones in

My new ipod touch 4th gen with ios 6 wont play soun in the headphones, but only through the speaker when my head phones are unplugged

    - You do have the volume set all the way up?
    - Have you tried another pair of headphones/do the headphone work in other devices?
    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the headphone plug a dozen times or so.
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. It seems yo have a hardware problem, likely a bad headphone jack.

  • I have an iPod touch 4th gen. iTunes sync hasn't been working.

I have an iPod touch 4th generation. I have the latest version of iTunes but it keeps getting stuck on this one song. The song is "Homewrecker" by Marina and the Diamonds. After signing up for their mailing list on the official artist website you get a free MP3 download of that song. Well, it comes up on my computer but won't sync to my iPod. It takes forever and acts like it's finished downloading but then iTunes freezes. If I finally get it to finish the sync, it doesn't sync the song to my iPod. There is an exclamation point that pops up by my device sign; when I click on it iTunes says the file "cannot be read." Also, I've noticed apps crashing more frequently. Is this because they're optimized for devices aboves 4th gen. with iOS 7? I can only have iOS 6 on my iPod. I've had it around 3 years now and it usually works just fine. Is anybody else experiencing that message in iTunes or apps crashing frequently? Any and all suggestions will be gladly appreciated!

This "There is an exclamation point that pops up by my device sign; when I click on it iTunes says the file "cannot be read." " means there is a prob;lem with the song file. Delete and reimport/redownload.
    For apps crashing:
Periodically double click the home button and close all the apps in the recently used dock. Then power off and then back on the iPod. This frees up memory. The 4G only has 256 MB of memory.
    - Next
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
