Icon for app is in iTunes, but the app itself is missing
iTunes says that it can not sync the apps in my iTunes library to my iPhone because it can not find the apps on my computer. So, I try to redownload the apps in the iTunes store and it says I have downloaded them already. I have the icon for the app in iTunes but my iPhone can not find them when they sync with the computer.
My mobile application folder has been erased. What should I do to get the apps and their data back? The data for the apps should still be in the back up of the iPhone (which I did a wired back up to my computer, not iCloud).
What device or mac are you using and with what OS?

You can only sync with one ITunes library. It you switch iTunes library iTunes will erase the iPod and replace it contents with what is in the library of the new computer. -
My dad has a brand new iMac. If he quits an app, this window closes, but the app won't finish shutting down, Force quitting does not work. Once another app is opened, it will not close either. Now none of the apps on the dock are responding. I asked him to click on the apple, and drop down to "About this Mac", but that wouldn't open either. Any ideas? For starters, have him open Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, select the volume (the indented listing) and Verify Disk. If it reports any problems, have him try a Safe Boot by holding the Shift key at startup. This boot will take much longer than usual. It's checking and trying to repair the drive directory, if possible. Once in Safe Boot, have him repair Permissions.

Also, have him try a PRAM Reset. At the startup chime, hold down CMD-Option-P-R together, listen for two more chimes, total three, then let go to finish booting.
Also, is he running any AV? If so, have him uninstall it. It might be responsible for this behavior. (There are no viruses for OS X.) -
I'm having problem in syncing apps in itunes.
Would these be the iLife apps that are preinstalled on new Macs?
There is supposed to be a process of accepting these apps into your Apple ID account.
1. Be sure that you have enetered your iTunes/Mac App Store (MAS) Apple ID in System Prefs/Users & Groups/Password.
2. Open the MAS and sign into your account.
3. Check the Purchased pane, the apps should be listed with Accept buttons.
4. Accept the apps.
After accepting the apps you should be able to update them. If they are not listed on the Purchased pane of the MAS then I would return with the Mac to place of purchase and enlist their aid in getting the apps into your MAS account. -
I want to download apps via creative cloud but the Apps window is giving me a "Download Error" page
I uninstalled creative cloud, re-installed it, checked if my IOS is up to date and no updates were required, tried many times to "Reload Applications" in the Apps window, however nothing worked! the error persists.

When you restored did you restore from a backup or from a fresh install?
Sometimes when you restore from a backup you will get corrupt files that will continue to show up as long as you are restoring from that back up. -

Before backing up my old iphone4 I traded it in for an iphone5. All of the apps I purchased had no problem downloading to my new phone from itunes with no charge, but I can't download music that I have already paid for that was not backed up w/out paying again. How can I get these songs to my new phone without having to buy them again?
Whether you can re-download music depends upon what country that you are in (and whether it remains in the store). If you don't have a Music section in the Purchased tab in the iTunes store app on your phone for re-downloading it, then do you not have you library on your computer's iTunes or on your backup of your downloads ? If not then you could try contacting iTunes Support and see if they will grant you a re-download

I have created another iTunes library (so I have 1 for an ipod touch and a separate 1 for an iPad), but the apps from the iPad appear in both libraries. How can I stop this so the 2 libraries are completely separate? Thanks
You don't need two separate libraries to manage two devices.
I suspect the reason that the apps are appearing in both libraries is that you have enabled automatic downloads in iTunes and automatic syncing of apps so that all your purchases end up in both libraries, defeating your original aim.
Why not use a single library and make playlists for the media content you want on each device? Disable Settings > Store > Automatic Downloads > Apps on each device, then connect each device in turn and turn off Automatically Sync Apps on the Apps page.
You can now manage your devices independently, while only having to manage the content of one iTunes library, instead of two.

I have 2 apple iDs ( hotmail accounts) one of which was set up some time ago and not used for awhile in which time it has become blocked. This Id is set up in iTunes and the app store. It is linked to an old email address which is no longer used which means I can't retrieve a code to reactivate. What I want to do is remove this inactive hotmail account and use the other for all access with iTunes, app store, iCloud,mail etc. without losing all apps and credits. Can this be achieved ? My daughter needs the iPad at school and at the moment can't use iCloud and mail and I am scared to add more iTunes credit when there is a problem with this account... Welcome to the Apple community.
iTunes and iCloud and different accounts, you will need to delete both accounts from your device before adding the new details in their place.
For iCloud go to settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit the delete button. You can then sign back in using your correct details. For iTunes go to settings >store, tap your account ID and then sign out, you can then sign back in using your correct Apple ID. -
my ipad screen is black and will not reset and does not come back after restoring, the info is still on internal because i can see it on itunes in the apps catagory it's the display is not working, can see backlight but black...does anyone know how to fix, other than take it to apple.
thanks!The wish list only works on apps you have to pay for. To get it tap the icon of the app you want to save. After it opens at the upper right corner is a box with a arrow. Tap that then tap add to wish list list in the box that opens.

How do I retrieve an app that I bought. The icon is in my library. But the program isn't in my device. When I look in the file that contains the app and try to open it, it doesn't open.

This can be done through the App Store on the device that you'd like the app installed on.
Apps on iOS
Open the App Store on your device.
Make sure you are signed in with the same Apple ID used for the original purchase.
Tap Updates from the bottom navigation bar.
Tap Purchased on the resulting screen.
Locate the app in your Purchased tab.
Tap the download button.
The app will begin downloading and you'll be taken back to your home screen.

You cannot use the Japanese iTunes Store unless are physically present there and have a Japanese payment method. This applies even for free apps; you cannot get them from the Japanese iTunes Store if you are in the US.
If you are in Japan, you can set up a new iTunes Store account just to get free apps. See:

Read the steps carefully as the order in which you follow them is critical. Note that you can do this only when creating a new Apple ID. You cannot use an existing ID.
If you have moved to Japan and wish to change the country of your account permanently, you can contact the iTunes Store and ask them to clear your remaining balance. You will need to be able to provide a Japanese payment method, though.
