Icon in web address bar?

I find those little icons helpful when quickly looking in my bookmarks to click on one. Ever since leopard they are not there (just little blue globes). Sometimes one or two will pop up, then they are gone the next time...
How do I make them all show up, and stay?

There is probably a bunch of links or video that is still loading. Nothing to really worry about.

  • What is the horizontal bar under the web address bar called? How to I put pages into it?

I don't know how to add my most-used pages to the bar under the web address bar.- or what that bar is called so I can't find help for it in mozilla help

I use Windows, but assuming Mac is the same, it's called the Bookmarks Toolbar, and you can add bookmarks to it by clicking the bookmarks star twice, then selecting Bookmarks Toolbar with the small arrow(s) to the right of 'Unsorted Bookmarks.' If you wish to add a folder, right click on the toolbar itself > New Folder.

  • How do I get back my small icon for one click completion of my name and address etc. I lost it when I got back my web address bar

I was getting frustrated that I had no address bar to put in an address and go straight to the page, but in restoring that I have lost my small icon which I clicked on when I wanted to complete all my personal data on the many sites such as the council, shopping sites etc. It used to fill in my name, address, telephone number, email address, etc. It was a small square firefox icon. I am using a Toshiba Laptop, with Windows Vista operating system

"small pencil" - Is this the '''exact''' extension you have installed? <br />
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/autofill-forms/
I don't know where you are getting '''Ctrl + Q''' from - that extension uses '''''Alt + J''''' to trigger the 'autofill' feature when the cursor is in the first form field.
'''FillForms''' extension doesn't seem to have a "small pencil" associated with it. <br />
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/fillforms/ <br />
But it does use '''Ctrl + Q''' till web forms. <br />

  • When I drag and drop an icon from the address bar to the desktop is does creat the shortcut but will not display the website icon, only the firefox icon, how can I display website icons?

When I drag and drop a website icon from the Forefox address bar to the desk top, the short cut is created but the icon that appears is the firefox Icon. I want to disply the icon from the website that the short cut refers to. I have checked all I can think of in my computer to no avail.

You have to assign the favicon yourself to the desktop shortcut (right-click the shortcut: Properties) after you have dragged the link to the desktop.
You can usually find the favicon in Tools >Page Info > Media and save the icon there.
Otherwise use the main domain of the website and add favicon.ico (e.g. mozilla.com/favicon.ico ) to display the favicon in a tab and save that image to a folder.

  • I want to Remove RSS icon from the address bar when I click on My SMF Forum

I have a SMF forum when I click on the login page I see an RSS icon in the right of the address bar next to a star.
The forum opens in an RSS to subscribe, which is stupid as it is not an RSS feed, it is a forum. I want to get rid of this and do not know how to do it.

This is a feature of firefox, although it may have been removed from firefox 4beta ( at least in default set up, no idea why). The appearance of the RSS icon within the location bar is intended to inform that RSS feeds are available from the site in use. You may note that this firefox forum we are using has such an icon displaying in the location bar, that is because feeds are available allowing you to track the threads, no doubt something similar happens with the SMF forum you mention.
If it is possible to remove the RSS icon from the location bar it will certainly not be straightforward, other than by upgrading to 4beta, and that is available now, and may be run whilst the stable version firefox 3.6 is still installed on your computer. (iirc there is an add-on available to add the rss icon to Fx4)
If a post answers your enquiry, you may wish to use the button alongside it to mark it as solved.

  • Can someone help me get my web address bar back up on Safari?

I don't really know what you call it, but the bar that you type web addresses in, at the top of the page, somehow disappeared. If I use this browser it is only to visit pages that I had bookmarked, because I have no way of typing in new addresses. I'm not really sure what I did, but it's gone...
I have Safari 2.0.4, but I just don't see anything in Preferences or anywhere else that will help me get bar back on the page. Can someone help me?

lol that was easy... I had been over that but apparently didn't drag it over to the bar correctly last time I was in there.
    Thanks

  • No icon for web address

i recently upgraded from Snow Leopard to Mountian Lion.  Now the web address shows when I go to a website.  However, none of my bookmarks show the related icon for that website.  Any suggestions?

Sig is right, but since it's quick and simple:
You'll need to call up all the websites to have the (fav)icons updated. Or the other way around, Safari shows only (fav)icons of sites which provide one and have been loaded.

Thanx guys I will have a look see I kinda tried already by dropping the icon that was generated into the main folder for the site as I have 7 sites.. and it's not working.. it looks something like this... as far as putting the code in the head, what did I do wrong ( I'm not html savvy..)
    <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en">
    <head link rel="shortcut icon" href="/favicon.ico" ><link rel="shortcut icon" href="/favicon.ico" ><meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" />>

    <meta name="iWeb-Build" content="local-build-20071016" />
and thanx cedric but I really don't have time for crashing puters.. ; ) so I'll try the quickkirk route.... thanx again... ps. could it be that the icon is .ico instead of a .jpg should I change all the .jpg and upload a .jpg file instead ?

  • Fast dial does not work, firefox 6.0. Will not bring up the page when I click the icon necxt to address bar.

Before I updated firefox (the time before I updated to 6.0)
I had fast dial and it worked perfectly fine.
Then it just would not work at all. Clicking the icon up next to my address bar- nothing. Even tried adding pages to fast dial by right clicking but still the icon does nothing.
I used speed dial for a while but really do not like it. Disabled fast dial, removed it, added it again, removed speed dial. Nothing :(

Hello, and Welcome to the HP Support Community!
It would help us reply to you if you gave us more information... Which HP device are you using?  A Windows PC with a keyboard?
    An Android Tablet?  A ChromeBook?
If Windows, the keyboard shortcuts always work.  Highlight the address, type "Control-C" to copy the information.
Now click in the address box of the browser and using the keyboard, type "Control-V" to Paste.    Think as the "V" as an arrow pointing to "paste it here!"
(To perform each function, press and hold the control key first, then tap the letter you wish).
Other ways to paste is to right-click your mouse and choose "Paste" (after copying something).
