Icon Issues...

A few questions I'm hoping someone can help me with...
1. Just installed Leopard, and I'm having trouble changing icons like I used to do it in Tiger. When I "get info" my application (the one whose icon I want to change/restore) in finder, I see both the small icon in the top left corner and the larger preview icon at the bottom of the "get info" window. However, when I go to show package contents/contents/resources and "get info" the original icon I want to use, I always see a generic .icns icon in the top left corner of the get info window. So I can't select-copy-paste it over the icon I want changed. The same happens when I select a .icns from icons that I have downloaded: I get the generic .icns icon in the top left corner of the get info window.
2. When using cover flow, all of my iLife icons are very blurry. I expected this with 3rd party apps, but iLife? Are any 512x512 Leopard ready icons available for iLife (and maybe other apps)? I can't seem to find any.
Any help would be appreciated!

the .icns file has the icon image embedded inside of it. the proper way to change the icon of an application is to great a NEW .icns file and replace the one in the package contents of the particular app you're working on. (make sure to back the original up in case you want it later.)
this may be done with various programs. pixadex is one program that can be used to convert .png or .tiff to .icns.
if you have the Developer Tools, there is a new app called IconComposer which can also create the .icns files too.
once you've changed the .icns file inside the application, finder will source that file and consequently change the icon. [sometimes in the past with tiger for example, there could be competition between the cut and paste method and the .icns file method. i haven't explored this yet in leopard.]
as far as iLife, are you using the previous version of iLife? if so, then they are of a lower resolution.

Unable to Open Images in Bridge CS3 and Continuing Icon issues!

Re: Icon issues in Bridge CS3 and also with Photo Downloader that have never been there before.
So, these are the issues. Just one of the folders that previously would show thumbnails now only shows DNG icons, and none will open in Photoshop to let me work on previous image. Issue #2 - can't download images with Photo Downloaders - both my wife's Canon G9 only shows CR2 icons, and my Nikon D300 only shows NEF icons - neither of these issues had appeared before or been an issue. Third issue. None of my Bridge folders - even those with regular thumbnail immages- will open now - get a message that says words to the effect of Photoshop doesn't recognize this type of file. Computer is a Mac, with OS 10.5.8
I recently tried to make more room on HD, so must have taken some critical files/commands out by accident.
Thanks for your time and previous suggestions - still not working. I'm sure that in trying to correct things have made things even worse- as may be noticed by the two snapshots I've attached. The first is one from a library from my user section. The second library image is from my hard drive. Hopefully you and others aren't laughing or crying too much over what you see - redundantcy, etc! All of my energies have focused on taking photos, obviously none to proper setup/use of organizing things on my Mac. But after the laughing has stopped, any help will be tremendously appreciated - am most anxious to getting back to working with and saving images.

First of all, if you don't know much about how applications work inside of the OS, its wise to not look in the application folder(s). Deleting anything here can make your apps go haywire. If this happened, then you are best to 1)unregister photoshop, 2) uninstall your entire suite. 3) reinstall the suite and finally 4) reregister photoshop.
All images/textures/photo's including dng, cr2 and nef files need to be stored in your pictures folder and no where else, unless you're an intermediate user on your OS. In your pictures folder you can create folders for organizing the pictures whether by location, season's, time, or file format.
Then when you back up you can just drag a copy of the files to another drive including cd's or dvd's.
This will make sure you don't accidently delete important app files.
All this said, my OS of choice is Windows, so if anything does not sound right, thats why.

Win 10 - Desktop Icons Issue

Hi! Today I clean-installed windows 10, but I am facing an issue(?): Basically, I can't move my desktop icons to the last/bottom row, I mean just above the taskbar (possible thing in windows 8/8.1) I am going crazy for this! :\

What is the problem that you're having? Desktop Icons Issue isn't really enough information to go on.
Which T series system do you have, and what operating system are you running?

I talked to Lenovo Tech Support today and the person told me he had never heard of this problem and that they do not monitor the Forums for systemic issues like this. Frankly, this person seemed clueless on many fronts so I am not sure either of those things are valid. It was an extremely frustrating telephone call.
In any case, I would like to rollback to the original version of the ATI drivers as well as "Presentation Director" to see if this fixes the problem. Does anyone have or know where to get the previous version(s) so I can test to see if it also has this problem?

SUM icon issue in ALV Report

HI all,
I have developed an ALV Report. In the ALV display, i would like to sum see the Sum (Total) of few fields like Qty, Net value etc when i select that particular column and click the 'SUM" icon.
In my Report when i do so, the Program is displaying Runtime Error.
How to resolve this issue?
Any idea?

You must make sure that these columns are defined correctly in the field catalog and in the internal table. For example, make sure that the quantity field is typed as such in the internal table.
data: begin of itab occurs 0,
qty type p decimals 2,
end of itab.
And then in your field catalog, make sure that the DATATYPE is set correctly.
ls_fcat-datatype = 'QUAN'.
Do this may help your situation. Also make sure that the data in these columns is all numeric.

Custom Icon Issue

I have changed icons before, when the new itunes came out a while back and I went and made my own Totoro-themed icon to replace the black on blue one. Anyways, I'm trying to change icons for some other files and it doesn't seem to work. When I paste the file into Get Info, the icon changes into the standard "blue sky and cloud" icon rather than anything I'm trying to replace it with. I have tried unlocking the file first, then changing, but the same result occurs? Is it a filetype of file size issue, what am I doing wrong this time around that I didn't do before?

No one has an answer to this?

Icon issue

When downloading FLV files in the past using Firefox, I have always specified RealPlayer to open them when I double click on them. When the files were in my specified download folder they had the RP icon. Recently had a problem with RP but that is a different issue.
I now have specified a different player to open them, Elmedia. I used get info on one of the FLV files and then clicked on apply to all. That worked as expected and now any FLV file opens in Elmedia.
The problem I have is that now the icon on any downloaded FLV file is the generic blank/page icon and not the Elmedia icon. I have re-launched the Finder, rebooted the computer and a few other things but nothing seems to help.
Any thoughts?

I have the same problem running 10.8 and 10.6. I just upgraded to the latest Elmedia 4.3.4, but that did not fix the problem.

Wierd icon issue

hey, new to my macbook pro but by no means new to mac.
never seen this issue in OS X.
In my system pref window the "Universal" icon is wierd looking now. Its a light switch with the actual Universal icon appearing in the bottom corner of this weird box its in.
Probably not clear at all huh?
any way to post a screen shot of it on this forum?

I was having a few other minor issues and decided to completely wipe my drive, 7 times, took a LOT longer than 4 hours. Anyway, feels better wiping.

44601 vocal message icon issues

I receive prompt text messages about vocal message that read "44601 Vocal message 1 new 0 urgent" but there is no corresponding vocal message on my phone. Also, I can not erase the notification through Hub menu. The little tape record icon remains on my main screen. Anybody knows what could I do to get rid of it?

App Icon issues

I have a new 3GS. Is anyone else with a 3GS or just OS 3.0 having issues with app icons not matching their application. I "purchased" a free app and it used an old icon from another program so I didn't recognize the app for a while. Also the AT&T app suddenly lost it's icon and is a blank gray spot on my display. What's the dillio?

Hmm, for what it's worth, I have the following mixed apps/icons on the iphone screens
1st screen:
Pano has Translator icon
2nd screen: (posted above)
3rd screen:
Ambiance has Pixelpipe icon
4th Screen:
Air Sharing has Evernote icon
Translator has Facebook icon
5th screen:
Quicken app has Bento icon
Amazon.com app has RingCentral icon
Pageonce Assistant has AirSharing icon
I think the last once I installed was TweetDeck, and 12 of the apps (forget which ones) were updated yesterday. I'm just gonna sit tight, read the text for the apps to remember which to use and ignore the icons. It's almost like an interactive puzzle. I suppose some might try to pass this off as an undocumented feature.

Icon issues in XCode Application Uploader

We are currently updating our applications. When I try to upload the binary through the Xcode Application updater I continue to get this message,
I have tried with with 2 different application uploads and recieved the same results. Everything went smoothly with the viewer builder. I have double checked all of the icons and they are all built to the correct size and have been saved as .pngs
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

OOOOOOK. I literally just kept rebuilding the 72x72 icon, rebuilding the app, and resubmitting to the application uploader. On the 5th try it worked and the build submitted sucessfully. I wish I could say I felt it was solved, but at least everything I needed to get out today is off to Apple. I do not think this is a DPS issue, but more of an Xcode thing. I hope it works itself out!!

Vista icon issue

Hi everyone,
I've just installed CS4 and am very pleased - I'm pretty sure I'll pay for the upgrade before the trial runs out. There's one, trivial issue that's annoying me though... php files don't have Dreamweaver icons. Most of my work these days involves using Dreamweaver to edit files with php extensions, so I'd really like to get this sorted!
Unfortunately setting Dreamweaver as the default application for .php files didn't change the icon... it's funny because .php4 files have the right icon.

Wi-Fi icon issue with iPhone 4 but Wi-Fi only iPad works fine. Is my iPhone on the wi-fi network or not?

Hey Everyone!
Last night I noticed something odd. My son and I both have an iPhone 4 and I have an original iPad as well. Now the iPhad is wi-fi only. Obviously, we have a wireless router installed in our house and everything to my knowledge is working just fine. My iPad has been working wonderfully as well. I have not noticed any problems with slowness or loading problems. But...last night when we were both home we noticed that our phone were not switching from 3G to the wi-fi icon. Now, because the iPad was working, I can only assume that we were actually on the network because the speeds were quick downloads were normal. My son had more trouble than I did, however. He said that his phone just kept spinning and he also had some trouble with his netbook. He said something about the signal strength. The only thing is he wouldn't let me look at the netbook, so I have no idea what was wrong with it.
Any ideas???

Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

An Alt+Tab app-switching icons issue

This may sound trivial, but it's really bothering me.
When I switch apps with Alt+Tab under GNOME, there is this low resolution image-missing icon, for certain programs.
And I don't really mind those few programs not having their own icons, it's the low res generic one that I'm annoyed with.
So, ok- I went out to search for this icon's source, and I actually found out that these image-missing icons reside in /usr/share/icons/gnome/<RESOLUTION>/status directories.
And, to my surprise there is actually a perfectly good 256x256 .png image in its appropriate directory, called image-missing.png
Worse still, I tried to remove (and backup) all the low res ones, leaving only the 256x256 one in place, but to no avail.
Somebody care to explain all this to me?

I am still having this issue. I've noticed it on my old iMac with a wired keyboard and mouse, my new iMac with a wired keyboard and magic mouse and lastly my MPB, with obviously a built in keyboard and mouse. It's not a failed USB device or failed hardware IMO. It is more likely a bug with SL or a third party app.
Though I personally don't run any third party apps in the background other than Dropbox.
Has anyone else out there still been seeing this issue?

Blackberry 9700 icon issue

Hi all.
When making a call i have noticed that in the top right hand corner of the screen i see a little box with 4 diagonal + signs this has only just apppeared on my phone any ideas what the icon is? Is it ment to be there?

ITunes icon issue

My iTunes icon is red and I don't know why. I don't own a Mac or anything. Is it because I'm using a Windows laptop? I downloaded on this laptop before and it was blue. I don't understand. Anyone know how I can change it back to blue? Or should I just leave it alone?
My second issue is that inside iTunes, I can't see the sidebar. Did they get rid of that feature?

The app has to be on the main drive.
I don't know your starting place and what you are actually doing is the wrong way to go about managing media with iTunes no matter what your starting point.
If you already have an iTunes library, copy the entire iTunes folder to the external drive. Start iTunes while holding down the option/alt key and when it asks, select the iTunes folder on the external drive.
If you don't have a library post back and we can work from there. What is happening is your preferences settings are for iTunes to copy anything your add to iTunes to your media folder on your computer's drive. Simply dragging the media folders to the external drive does not get iTunes to use them there.
