Icon on top right of playbook screen when browsing

I have an icon in the top right of my PB screen when browsing, it looks like a bandits mask, of The lone Ranger variety for those old enough, my wife's PB does not show this, what is it? I have searched everywhere for a full PB icon library before coming here. I was hoping to upload image but seems not possible here.

Thanks for that Sarah, I've turned it off now, can you tell me what is the benefit of such a feature? No need to reply if your are busy, I thought it was some sort of virus or spyware, now it is off I'm happy.
No history recorded so your wife doesn't know you have been online and  ordered her flowers if she borrows the playbook.
It does not keep your activities private from your internet provider.

  • Downloads "Pile" Icons in Top-Right Corner of Screen

Almost every time I download something from the web--software updates, photos, etc.--none of it restricted--all my desktop icons fly into the top right-hand corner of the screen and pile on top of each other.
I then have to drag them one-by-one back to the position they were in on the desktop.
It's becoming a major pain and I can't figure out why it's happening.
Has anyone experienced this? If you have and know how to fix it, please let me know. I can't find anything about it in the knowledge base.
    Thanx.

My proposed solution to Jane is a *workaround, it does work for me on my Powerbook 10.4.7.
It also works on the mac intel they scramble, same os. 10.4.7
I removed the com.apple. finder.plist from the home~/Library/preferences folderon the powerbook did a restart, if I deselect the Arrange by in " Show view Options' under the "View" menu again the files scramble all around the desktop, having to manually rearrange them.
Do you know which other.plist file it maybe ?
On the iMac os 10.3.9 they behave w/out selecting the arrange, therefore, as far as I see it is a good way to arrange them, as a workaround.
    workaround
    n. 1. A temporary kluge used to bypass, mask, or otherwise avoid a bug or misfeature in some system. Theoretically, workarounds are always replaced by fixes; in practice, customers often find themselves living with workarounds
    for long periods of time.
Hello Dimaxum ~ I also have a Downloads folder, which i prefer to have all downloads go to so I can "get info" before I open them, I think it is an good idea. I do however have many other files on my desktop for easy access. Thanks for the support.

    Hi Mary,
    I don't remember those arrows in 10.6, only 10.7 & up!?
I have 10.6.8, as you do. To make your Safari full screen, make sure you have the left hand side of your safari page moved  all the way to the left.  Then move your cursor to the BOTTOM RIGHT CORNER of the safari page, and simply drag your page towards the lower right hand corner of the screen. NOTE: you will see a series of lines on the bottom right corner of the page, indicating where to place you cursor arrow.

my airporst icon in the top right of the screen has disappeared. any suggestions on how to bring it back?
Was it removed in an update or something sinister like that?

Choose Go to Folder from the Finder's Go menu, enter /System/Library/CoreServices/Menu Extras/ and open it from there; there may also be a checkbox to display it in the Network pane of System Preferences.

I cannot "click" on the top inch of any screen when in firefox. This prevents me from signing in and out of certain webpages. If I minimize the screen this does not go away either. This doesn't happen when I am either on my desktop or using IE. I love firefox, but this is frustrating! Help!

Try the Firefox SafeMode to see how it works there. <br />
    ''A troubleshooting mode, which disables most Add-ons.'' <br />
''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default Theme.)''
    * You can open the Firefox 4/5/6/7 SafeMode by holding the '''Shft''' key when you use the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * Or use the Help menu item, click on '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' while Firefox is running. <br />
''Don't select anything right now, just use "Continue in SafeMode."''
''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before using the Firefox shortcut (without the Shft key) to open it again.''
If it is good in the Firefox SafeMode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. <br />

  • Little green square in left-top corner of my screen when watching some DVDs

Hi, since I bought my T61 7 months ago I experience little green square in the left-top corner of the screen when watching the movies from DVDs, I tried to clean DVDs, they were not scratched and they were originals from Blockbuster. This happens only to some DVDs, and sometimes when I try to run them again, the green square doesn't show up, and movie is running good. But in most cases, DVD won't run good at all. My T61 model is 7658CTO, 1GB ram, GMA graphic card, 14.1 widescreen. PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS ISSUE, I very appreciate your time and effort.

Thank you for your help, but the same problem occurs even if I use Windows Media Player or the one supplied by lenovo. Does anybody else has the same problem, I really want to solve the problem so I can use any player, anyway thank you for your help, it is for sure one of the solutions, I appreciate that

  • Shift icon in the top right corner of screen? Help please

Hey everybody, I have a question here. I've been getting a random problem on my curve 9310, and was wondering if anyone else had the problem or knows how to fix it. In the top right corner of my screen there's an icon, and it looks like its the shift/caps key icon, just aA^ (up arrow). The touchpad works, and I can scroll around, but the touchpad button or the enter button to open an application does not work, nor do any of the other keys. If I pull the battery and restart the phone, its still been doing that, and if I don't touch it and the screen fades to black, when I touch the buttons, its like the phone is off. I had this problem earlier in the week and it fixed itself, but its been doing it again. Any ideas on whats causing this, or how to fix it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi chris644 and welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums!
This icon in the top right corner you are seeing indicates that the caps lock has been enabled. If you press the shift button again, this should remove the icon from the top of the screen.
    Thanks.

I have a small icon at the top right of my iphone 4G right to the left of the battery percent. What is this and how do I get rid of it? It looks like a lock with a circle 3/4 of the way around it

That icon indicates your iPhone is rotation locked.
To remove it, swipe up from the bottom of the screen to open Control Center.  Tap the similar looking icon there to turn it off.

Murray's being way too nice. Where to begin?
See the style above? Note that it says 'style15' - it means
    that
you're using DW's properties bar to create a whole bunch of
    separate
little CSS styles. They're tough to keep track of, and you
    wind up
with a bunch of them scattered through your code. Think
    through your
CSS, create your classes in your (external) stylesheet, and
    apply them
    as necessary.
You used Fireworks to export HTML code. Fireworks creates
    notoriously
fragile HTML. That's the reason for the line of spacer .gifs.
They're totally unnecessary and bloat your code with no need.
    That's
also the reason for having a rowspan and a colspan on the td.
    I
wouldn't even attempt to try to sort something like that out.
You used Flash for navigation. That doesn't work for people
    using
assistive devices to visit your site, it doesn't work for
    people who
don't have Flash, and probably more important, it doesn't
    work for
    search engines.
You use an iframe on the page. That creates an internal
    scrollbar.
This one is arguable, but many of us consider internal
    scrollbars to
    be a detriment to usability.
In my opinion - your best bet? Start over. Take your
    fireworks comp,
slice it up, and use the slices as parts to a page you create
    using
one of DW's built-in sample pages.

  • Under firefox 4 i no longer see the padlock icon in the lower right of the screen when i log onto a secure site

The padlock icon is no longer visible for any site that requires a login

One of the main principles of Human Computer Interaction [HCI] is that there should be immediate visibility to the system's status. Forcing the user to "click" the identity site key and try to locate the lock-pad encryption icon is poor design. The icon has become a default standard expectation of the INTERNET user community across browsers. Internet Explorer, of which, I'm not a fan - has done away with a bottom bar, yet retained the padlock in the top right of the menu bar [it is conditionally displayed only when the site is secure]. Firefox has made a fundamental UI mistake, and amazingly trumped by the generally inferior Microsoft team. Don't follow the FF team and parrot the propaganda - 'yea we screwed up but you can determine the same thing by taking several extra steps- because we are FF team and you are just the peon users". Death of the open source community?

  • Strange 4 little squares icon on top right part of...

I have a E63 phone and on the top right part of the screen there is an icon with 4 little squares making a bigger square. I know this is for WLAN however I have WLAN scanning off but the icon is still there. Any ideas what this is?
    Thanks!!

When you see the icon, you're somehow connected to WLAN. Check whitch apps are using a connection in the background by pressing the home key for a few seconds.
