Icon - outline blue arrow on black square - what is it ?
My wife has just purchased a Q10 (I have a Bold) - having set up Link and sync'ed Outlook contacts and calendar an icon appeared at the top right hand corner of the handset screen (obscuring the network signal strength indicators) whcih is an arrow in blue (outline, not solid) on a square black background - I have searched everywhere to try to find out what that icon is or means and cannot - can someone help me to identify it and what it means ? Thank you.
is the arrow pointing upwards? That wounds like the upper case key is pushed or locked in place. touch the similar key on the bottom of the keyboard... or try the ALT key.

Have you tested the printer from another appliaction?
It is possible your black ink has run out.

Icon Composer: mask is all black
Hi all,
How do I get an icon mask that is roughly the shape of the icon instead of a solid black square? I've created an icon image (png) in AppleWorks 6, which I dragged onto the 512 square of the Images view in Icon Composer. The Mask view then changes to an all black square. I've tried selecting a blank field in the icon image, then deleting that area (-x) and I've tried pasting a B&W png representation of the icon - something that looks like I expect the mask to be - Still just a black square.Make sure your PNG has an alpha layer. I don't know if Appleworks supports that. I suggest a more modern tool.

I was playing around with my ipod and found myself in the general section. I clicked a few buttons and now my ipod is talking to me and there is a black square around every icon I click making it so i have to double click every app i want to go in. I have tried to undo what i had done by going back into general and clicking on settings but i cant scroll down to accessibilitys to turn this off. All helps appreciated
You have the accessibility VoiceOver feature turned on.
Triple click the home button and try going to Settings>General>Accessibility and turn VoiceOver off. You may have to use three fingers to scroll the screen to get there. If problems see the following for how to turn off via iTunes:

My macbook pro freezes and then displays a blue screen with black stripes... do you know what's wrong with it?
I have a two and half year mac book pro... I've had some issues with the screen looking scrambled when I quit certain applications, but now it's turned into something worse. I'll be working on my computer and the thing will freeze. When I force restart, the first screen, the apple logo, will be a blue tint and won't boot up normally. Then I try safe mood and it will then boot just fine. But there are blue stripes on my screen. The screen alternates from a blue tint to normal and if the computer freezes again the screen will become completely blue with black stripes. I haven't tried reinstalling my software because I don't have the startup discs that came with my computer. If I was sure that would fix it I would purchase them, but if it's a hardware issue I'm afraid that I'm screwed. I've been able to successfully get the blue off my screen by putting it to sleep and then waking it up, but that's not working well anymore either.
Does anyone else have experience with this? Is it the firmware or what? I have a MacBook Pro from early 2011 and I'm running Mac OS X 10.6.8.
Please help... Thanks!I just experienced this exact same issue with my early 2011 15" macbook pro. Since like a month after purchasing it I had issues with the screen randomly going dark on me. I sent it in for repair inder waranty they replaced the gpu and logic board but I continued to have the same issues with the screen randomly going black sometimes I would need to reboot it in order to get the screen to go back on but it happened so infrequently and I used the computer for school so disnt find the time to resend it in to apple. Just last night the screen started to display the blue screen with black verticle lines on it. I called apple and explained to them the issues that had been ongoing since I purchased the laptop but they said because I was now outside of warantee that any repairs at thia point wouldn't be covered. Fml so glad I spent 2200 on this future proof macbook pro what a joke my sister purchased a toshiba laptop for 300 4 years ago and it still running like a champ. I loved my macbook but at the price I paid I expect it to last longer than 2 years before leaving me high and dry. *** apple??

VERY FRUSTRATED!!! Downloaded latest itunes on my PC, connected ipad 2, registered device. It says follow onscreen instructions. What instructions. When I turn on my ipad I get an itunes icon with an arrow and a connector cord. Can anyone help me???

Thanks, glad it helped you to check your battery status.
Something else to look at would be the cycle count, as you mention that your computer is "ancient". If you have a high number of cycles, it may also be a sign that the battery is tired and possibly nearing it's life span, and may possibly need to be replaced soon. If you see that again you may try a SMC reset to see if that helps, but if it continues you may need a new battery at some point. The battery icon will usually say needs service, or something to that effect. For the later MBP's Apple claims a life span of up to 1000 cycles, of this also will be dependent on who the battery is used, on the older ones I'm not quite sure what the claims were, and I don't know how old "ancient" in your case actually means.
I provide this for your info, so that you understand what may possibly be occurring.

All my itunes tv shows work except one - the episodes in this series are all light grey so i can't click on them or the icloud icons with the arrow next to each episode. It says that i have purchased them on itunes - what do i do?

You can't play music from the computer if there is none there. If you are using iTunes Match you should now be able to download and play all your music on the Apple TV from the music feature on the main page. -

would "right click on the Original iPhoto Library" (I know, I know, 'as stated").
Do I right click on the symbol in the dock?? Or open it first and then, . . I can't find a way to right click on the word iPhoto in the top bar.
Or should I open the program you had me download. There I can find something called "original iPhoto library".
When I "right click" on that I get some options. None of them are "original folders". There's "reveal library in finder", and "dupilicate library and "sort libraries". I have no idea if any of these are what you want, or if any of these might change something.
When I clicked on "reveal library in finder" earlier on it showed me the copy of the photo library that I made a while ago, sitting right where I know it is on my desktop. And if I click on that symbol it shows me all the pictures again. Just like in my regular iPhoto files - all the thumbs are there, but most can't be opened to full sized.
Are we making progress here? I'm sure this is frustrating to you. This is just pictures of family. Even the thumbs are nice to look at. But this is nothing critical - like work related or anything.

What does the blue arrow by the battery symbol mean
My iPod touch's battery has been dying within a couple of hours lately. Today when I took it off the charger there was/is a blue arrow (it looks like the play symbol) next to the battery. What the heck does that mean?
From the manual, the blue triangle arrow means:
Play Shows that a song, audiobook, or podcast is playing. See

If it is a gray arrow pointing slightly up and to the left

I just tried to download the Wheel Of Fortune app. A cloud with a downward arrow appeared next to it. When I clicked on it, it appeared to download, then a circle with a square inside it appeared. When I clicked on that, the cloud with the arrow came back. What's going on?
Don't click on the circle, that is just telling you it's downloading. When you click it, it stops downloading.

You turned on VoiceOver, probably by inadvertently hitting Command-F5. Just hit it again to make it go away.
