Icon question

I couldn't find a good spot to post this question, so I hope someone sees this and can answer my question.
I re-installed snow leopard the other day so that I could start this semester fresh and new. But before I did it, I forgot to back up some of the apps I used almost daily. Now most of them I re-downloaded from Apple's Downloads page, and installed the rest. However there is one app I can't find anywhere.
I don't quite remember the name of it, I thought it was something simple like "FSTICNS" or similar, but I could be way off. Either way it is the MOST simplistic icon maker I have ever found, and now can't find anymore.
When you opened it up, it was just a cube that would float and spin with a little (X) in the corner to close. If you were to drag a image on the cube, you could then hit the (X) and it would have you save your new image as an ICON. It was AWESOME!!!
Now of course I haven't used time machine yet, and that is exactly what this was designed to stop from happening. Ugh... If anyone knows of the app I am talking about please, oh please tell me. It was a free and legal download whatever it was.
THANKS!!!!!

So, Get Cape.Wear Cape.Fly ?? (ups, possibly wrong hero)
Regarding the difficulties to find phonebooths with doors nowadays and the not so pleasant temperatures plus snow and wind and all that, made me put cape and pants into my drawer and get out a nice warm blanket
Have Fun and thanks for the star.

  • Flashing Finder Icon/ Question Mark on Boot

    Today I left my 1.33ghz G4 Mac Mini turned on whilst I went to the shop.
    When I came back i found it eith a flashing finder icon/ question mark.
    I restarted it and it booted up a grey screen, then after a while the flashing finder icon/question mark.
    I have tried putting in the OSX install disc and holding down the C key to start up using the CD and nothing happen, all I get is the same grey screen and flashing icon.
    I have also tried pressing the X key, and holding it down and restarting to get up the startup disk menu, but again nothing.
    Pressing 'option' key during start up only gets me a blue background with refresh button on the left and right arrow on the right - with no Boot Up CD or HDD Icon.
    I have also tried resetting the PRAM, it resets, but after it hasn't solved my problem, as i am back to square one with the boot screen and icon.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    big.bad.ben

    I would agree with DP that using a wired keyboard will give better results when holding down the C key. The timing of holding down the C key is tricky, and you might have to experiment with it.
    The question mark means that the Mini can't find a bootable disk. Usually this is because the internal hard drive has enough directory damage that it is not bootable. Usually this can be fixed by reformatting the internal drive or replacing it.
    But if you truly can't boot from the install CD, that suggests a more serious problem with the logic board or RAM memory.
    When you power-up the mini, do you get a series of beeps or light flashes? The pattern of such beeps/flashes is a diagnostic aid to determine what might be wrong. Report back with what pattern you observe.
    Be sure to give the install CD some more tries, varying the timing of holding down the C key. Usually you want to do it right after the startup chime.

  • Email icon question

    Just got my new 9930 and really like it so far.
    I have a question about email though. I have 3 different email accounts on the phone. 1 gmail, 1 roadrunner and 1 yahoo. Only the yahoo email icon has an icon on it that let's me know it's my yahoo account. Is there anyway to get an icon or something on the gmail and RR email icons to let me know what's what?
    thx

    The others who "don't" see that stuff are most likely using Firefox which has a built in PDF viewer that doesn't have those capabilities yet.
    Good news is it IS possible to disable the built in viewer and use Adobe Reader as the default.
    They need to type "about:config" in the address bar in Firefox (minus the quotes).
    In the configuration page, there is a search bar at the top. They need to type "js" in the bar. A short list of settings containing "js" will appear.
    One setting is "pdfjsviewer disabled" and the value is "false". Right click it to Toggle it to True.
    Then under Tools>Options, in the Applications tab, scroll down to find Portable Document Format (PDF) and Click on the drop-down arrow in the Action column for the above entry and select the PDF viewer you wish to use (the attached image shows "Use Adobe Acrobat (in Firefox)", and should be "(use Adobe Reader (in Firefox)" for people without Acrobat Pro installed.

  • ACR Settings icon question

    I am using CS4, but expect that the question applies to CS3 as well. I cannot get rid of the small icon (two horizontal lines with two small upward-pointing arrowheads) at the upper right of the thumbnail as seen in Bridge. This icon means that the raw file has a setting, or has had a setting?
    I have tried to get it to disappear:
    1) White Balance: As Shot,
    2) chosing Camera Raw Defaults, or,
    3) chosing Reset Camera Raw Defaults,
    4) purging the cache for the folder,
    5) there is no label, star, Reject etc.
    I admit that these choices are a little confusing to me. Should I assume that if the icon persists, there is still a setting applied? If so, how do I eliminate any applied setting?
    Thanks very much,
    Sonny

    But the default setting that you applied is gone. Don't do it if you spent hours tweaking the files... This tells you what files have been adjusted, and which ones didn't.

  • Display an icon(question,warning,etc.) inside JDialog(like in JOptionPane)

    Hello,
    because JOptionPane can't use a JPasswordField as the input component, I created a JDialog prompting the user for a password. Now I can't figure out how to show that nice look-and-feel style icon inside the dialog (the question mark that is shown when you use messageType=QUESTION_MESSAGE in JOptionPane). Shortly, this is what I have and this is what I want to get... I tried this:
    dlg.getRootPane().setWindowDecorationStyle(JRootPane.QUESTION_DIALOG)But it does nothing. Could you help me, please?
    Thank you
    Ondra

    Still it doesn't answer my question: how to display the LAF icon inside a JDialog.Huh?import javax.swing.*;
    public class OptionPanePassword {
       public static void main(String[] args) {
          SwingUtilities.invokeLater(new Runnable() {
             @Override
             public void run() {
                new OptionPanePassword().makeUI();
       public void makeUI() {
          JLabel label =new JLabel("Enter Password: ");
          JPasswordField field = new JPasswordField(15);
          JPanel panel = new JPanel();
          BoxLayout layout = new BoxLayout(panel, BoxLayout.X_AXIS);
          panel.setLayout(layout);
          panel.add(label);
          panel.add(field);
          JOptionPane.showConfirmDialog(null, panel, "",
                JOptionPane.OK_CANCEL_OPTION, JOptionPane.QUESTION_MESSAGE);
    }db

  • Desktop through HD icon - question

    I hope this makes sense to anyone reading my post.
    When I go to my desktop through the HD icon, it showd over 8,000 items.  Some are my files but most are jpg's with no photo.  {I'm assuming that this is everything I've placed on my desktop in the last 4 years-photos and scrapbook related things that have been deleted and not showing on my screen.}  I have 10 files showing on my screen right now, no photos.
    Question:  If I delete all the photos from my desktop file {HD icon>window pops up>files in left sidebar}, will it remove them from my iphoto too or mess up anything?
      Number Of Processors:          1
      Total Number Of Cores:          2
      L2 Cache (per processor):          4 MB
       iMac6,1
       Intel Core 2 Duo
      2.16 GHz
    iMac
      Memory:          1 GB

    On my screen, I have a HD icon.  If I dbl click that, a window pops up
    That opens up your hard drive with a Finder sidebar on the left
    and in the left sidebar if I click desktop
    That opens up your desktop folder which is both in your user account but also reflects what you see on the desktop.
    it will show my files I have on my screen desktop.  But in that window, it says I have over 8,000 items and most are jpg files that don't have pictures on them. I have 8,000 photos on my desktop screen.
    I get lost at this point because it doesn't look like you actually have 8000 photos on your desktop so there is some unusual disconnect between what your desktop folder reveals and what your desktop in Finder shows.  There may be somethign strange going on with aliases, or some sort of directory corruption.
    So, if I delete all the jpg files from there -  will it interfer with any programs like iphoto?
    Also, if downloading a photo to your desktop and you drag it to photo shop elements - does that photo stay in the desktop file also?
    As for messing with iPhoto it would be good to know which version of iPhoto you are using.  With my version it insists upon putting the photos in a specific location but newer versions may be more like itunes and let you keep them where you wish.  It would also be good to resolve the disconnect between folder and desktop view first.
    Elements: It probably stays in the desktop file if that is where it is truly located.  The other remote possibility is that those files aren't the actual files but alises pointing to files. Highlight one of them and Get Info in Finder. What does it say about location and nature?

    makes total sense. thank you.
    is it possible this is an indication that there is some larger problem associated here? i had to do a fresh install due to various problems and i am sort of uber vigilant on this second go round with this machine...

  • Mail icon question

    On the main mail window, opposit the sent mail line for a specific account, there is a triangle with an exclamation mark inside. I can guess that this means there is something wrong with the SMTP server used for that account.  But when I run the Connection Doctor, it shows every single item working fine.
    What is this icon trying to tell me?

    You cannot reinstall a Leopard version of Mail on a Snow Leopard system. If you reinstalled Mail from a 10.6 SL disc, then just re-run the 10.6.2 Combo Updater which will bring the reinstalled Mail up to date.

  • IPad Email Attachments showing up as empty/missing icon question mark

    So this is a very odd bug that is happening on both the iPad and iPhone os, albeit it occurs more on the iPad.
    When I sent PDF attachments that shows up on my normal apple mail (as a preview PDF inside the email content), it is showing up as a empty icon in the ipad mail even though iPad mail does note it has an attachment with the paperclip mark.
    Keep in mind my email acct is synced over imap on the iPad, iPhone, and apple mail. The pdf attachment opens in apple mail without problems.
    This problem also occurs on my iPhone but it is less often.
    I hope a described the problem well. If anyone like to see the email for themselves contact me at [email protected] and i I'll forward you the email with the PDF attachment.

    I'm not sure what you mean. Are you talking about my ipad or my mac?
    I was talking about your Mac, but you should probably check that setting everywhere. On the Mac it is in Mail Preferences > Accounts for each account. On the iPad it is in the Settings > Mail. There is also a "Load Remote Images" setting that could have an effect.
    I honestly think it is a bug. Does anyone know where is the best place to report this to apple?
    The Apple Bug Reporter. But before you report a bug, you really have to try to identify a sequence of steps that can reproduce the error on demand. Otherwise, you are wasting your time and Apple's and they will ignore it. I know that when I submit a bug or enhancement report and an Apple engineer responds with something like "hold down command and shift as documented in the online help" I feel like a real schmuck.

  • Toolbar icon question

    Is there a way to put a spell check icon on the tool bar and a save icon?

    Good point. Word has that kind of functionality, and I imagine it wouldn't be that difficult to add. Feel free to enter feedback on http://www.apple.com/feedback/pages.html . I did.

  • JButton with Icon question

    In the Toolbar I have a JButtons. I created the JButtons with Icons.
    When I click on a button it is putting a dotted line right around the Icon. How can I get rid of that? Thanks.

    You're talking about the focus rectangle. If memory serves in the SwingSet demo there's an entire panel devoted to buttons and such. You can find something there to help you. The toggle in the example is labeled "Paint Focus", and it does what you want.

  • Macintosh HD Icon question

    Hello,
    I'm not sure how exactly it happened, but the HD icon on my MB Pro has that little arrow on it that designates it as a copy. Also, the icon is supposed to sit in the upper right hand corner but sometimes if I restart it will be moved to a different spot.
    How can I get the HD icon that's not the "copied" version back?
    Thanks,
    Erik

    This one:
    Launch ScriptEditor and copy and paste this into the script window:
    tell application "System Events"
    set visible of disk "Macintosh HD" to true
    end tell
    tell application "Finder" to quit
    delay 1
    tell application "Finder" to launch
    Hit the Compile icon to make sure the script didn't acquire any errors, and then hit run. This set the visible attribute back to visible and quit and relaunched the Finder, thus making the change available.
