Sorry you can't delete me, I'm eternal.
Now I can recommend two ways to fix your issue, one is the easy GUI way, which you download the free OnyX for your OS version and run the ds_store rebuild.
or you can use the Terminal, which someone else recommended and works good too, but OnyX has a lot more features you might find comes in handy.

  • Icons rearrange move after resetting / rebooting

Every single time i reboot / reset my phone my icons rearrange / change order! how can i stop my phone from doing that? the older version OS didn't do that....it takes so much time to rearrange everytime i reboot, i am using the BB today plus theme .... i need this theme but don't want my icons moving everytime i reset phone...i have to reset phone constantly to delete messages that won't remove from home screen

You can RE-Arrange each icon Individually by simply pressing the BLACKBERRY BUTTON then select MOVE and use the ball to Re-Arrange to where you like them ( Note this is done just on the phone itself the blackberry button is located to the right of the Green SEND button) Also make sure your NOT connected to the MEDIA MANAGER,DESKTOP or DEVICE Manager USB or BlueTooth.
After the icons are set the way you like them connect the USB or BlueTooth with the Manager Program and perform a BACKUP.
Now everytime you Restore or Backup again it will remain the way you placed them.
    Hope this helps

When you click the icon, it directs you to Yahoo.  I have had this issue before but the last time the icon was changed to wikipedia.  The last time this happened, i reset my phone.  I bought this phone new almost 2 years ago and have been the sole owner and I have never attempted to jailbreak my phone.  Does anyone know what the issue could be?

The problem is now resolved. The only thing that I did was to make netscape the default. I always the write code. I think that somehow I must have hit publish, I still am still not sure. Thanks for all the help

You have to know the old password in order to change to the new one if you select the user anyway, so no.

  • Application folder rearranges automatically-HELP!

When I relaunch finder or restart my computer, my applications folder automatically rearranges to alphabetical order. I have it set to "snap to grid" so it shouldn't organize by name. I have already trashed the finder plist file, and that didn't solve my problem. I don't know what else to do.

I would just leave the applications folder alone. If you don't want to use the dock, then you can use other launchers like DragThing or Butler to make your programs show up in any order you wish.
If you don't want to use a program, then you can use a method we used to use back in OS 9 days, and just make an alias of each program you want, and put the alias's in a folder on your desktop. You can control the order they list in, by just adding a two digit number to the beginning of the name on the Alias.
I think you are fighting a losing battle trying to defeat an alphabetical listing that can get rebuilt by the OS on a whim. Maybe someday "Most Used" can become a list criteria, like the browsers are starting to do.

  • Three Database Files Appear & Root Directory Icons Rearranged

I recently upgraded to Mountain Lion (10.8.5) from Lion on two of my Macs (15" MBP, Late 2011 & iMac 20" Early 2008). On both machines, seemingly at random, three database files appear on the root directory (sorry I can remember the names now) and all of the files/folders on the root directory are rearranged in alphabetical order. I have not been able to determine what triggers this action, but it is really annoying having to rearrange all of the file icons.
Anyone have an idea what might be causing this and how it can be "fixed"?
    Thanks!
    Gordon

Have you found an answer to this problem? I have found it happens in Safari > Preferences > Privacy. When you click on the Privacy icon header, instantly the 3 .db files appear and re-arrange all my files into alphabetical arrangement on my root directory (Mac Pro SSD). It will also behave this way when you choose "Reset Safari" from the drop down Safari menu.

  • Icons rearrange themselves!

    Hi,
In my applications folder, I keep it in the icon view mode, and I arrange them with all Apple programs on the left side, and all my sharewares, etc. on the right side. This has worked well for a few years . . . when all of a sudden, in Snow Leopard, every few hours, as I look in the Applications folder - OMG! they've all rearranged themselves alphabetically ??
I'll spend 10 minutes rearranging them back to how I like them - they'll stay that way for a day? or an hour, it changes, and then when I look in the Applications folder again - they did it again! Rearranged themselves!!
    Anyone know what's going on?
All maintenence things are done on my computer - latest in upgrades, etc!
    Thanks,
    Larry

Normally when you delete a plist file associated with any application, that application will usually behave as if it's never been used that that particular user before.
There are some exceptions. For example, you can create a custom background image for each folder. Those choices are stored with the folder, not the plist file. This is why when you download applications such as Firefox and open the installer, you see a Finder folder that has a background with icon placements and background "art" (in the case of Firefox the "art" is really a diagram trying to illustrate to the user that they should drag the application icon to their "Applications" folder) even though you have never opened the folder before.
Since there's no hard rule as to what is stored in an application's "plist" file, you can never be sure what will happen when you get rid of the old plist file. This is why I generally don't just delete the file. I typically either drag to desktop or drag to trash (but don't empty trash). That way if the removal had any undesired side-effects I can always drag the original plist file back.
    Glad to hear it's fixed!

  • Lock icon opens automatically on System Preferences Network window

The settings lock icon often is unlocked when I open the System Preferences > Network window.
I can click the lock icon and it locks without being prompted for a password.
This generally occurs right after logon.
How do I fix this problem?
    Thanks.

    1. Delete this file: "/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/NetworkInterfaces.plist" and reboot the computer.
    2. Yes, or rename a current location to "Automatic"
    3. No. You can't.
    4. See #1

Hi there! Are you talking about the search field on google.com? Or do you mean you are seeing words that you have previously have typed in? If it's the latter:
#Click on the form field and press the down arrow key to display all the saved entries. You may type the first few letters of the entry to limit the number of entries displayed.
#Use the down arrow key or the mouse pointer to highlight the entry you wish to delete.
#Press Shift+Delete. The entry will be removed.
    Hope this helps!

  • Launchpad icons rearranged at start up

Every time I restart my machine the first page of the icons on Launchpad moves around.  There is no obvious pattern to this, just a general shuffling of the icons.  Anyone identified a cause/solution for this?
    thanks

Thanks.  Having footled about with this a bit more it seems to be something to do with the order in which they are placed.  I can get them to stay pretty stable between reboots having moved them into place in turn, starting at the top left and working along each row to the right before going on to the next one.  The only thing which is now baffling me is why the final two keep switching round when I reboot.  Hopefully this will help someone work out what is going on and FIX it.  In the short term, hopefully this work around might help others.

  • Samsung Fascinate icons rearrange themselves during a hard boot-up

After painstakingly trying to arrange all my icons into page categories, i.e.. all music oriented apps on one or two single pages, game apps on their own page, etc. and whenever my phone freezes for whatever reason that causes me to remove the battery for a few seconds; when powering up the phone again, I notice that all my icons are scattered everywhere on other pages. I first noticed this after I batched my apps and put many of them into the SD card so that my phone's internal RAM wouldn't be so overwhelmed by storing all the apps. Has anyone else come across this situation before?

If your phone freezes don't pull the battery
Hold the volume up and as you are holding it up hold the power button in
hold them both at the same time your phone will reset
this is a lot easier on your phone and you should not have to reset your icons

  • Apps / Icons Rearrange themselves after sync

This has happened more than once and it is getting quite frustrating. I have over 80 apps and I like to have them organized by screen all "card games", "internet links", "gym", etc on one screen. It's getting to the point however that I don't want to sync my phone since it shuffles the order of the icons on ALL screens across all screens - IE. an app that was on the 10th screen may now be on the first screen. Shouldn't it keep this information when it SYNCs the phone? Do I need to click something on to have it keep my custom icon arrangement?

    Hi Kit,
What version of iTunes and iPhone software are you using?
You can check the version of the iPhone software by tapping Settings> General> About.
You can check the version of iTunes by clicking iTunes(near the Apple)> About iTunes.
If you haven't already updated to the latest software available, go ahead and update to iTunes 8.1.1 and iPhone software 2.2.1.
If the iPhone and iTunes are already updated try resetting the iPhone. Just hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons on the iPhone until you see the Apple logo as described here: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305743
If the issue persists after updating iTunes and the iPhone, try restoring the it. This article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414 will walk you through restoring the iPhone.
