Icon (URL)  in the URL field

Does anyone know how to ad a icon (logo) in the URL field right before the URL? I know a lot of sites have this and it would be a great thing for me to add.

  • Since upgrading Firefox, it no longer accepts URLs in the URL bar - it works if I have a bookmark, a link or from History, but not if I enter or paste a URL.

Firefox 33.0.2 on Windows 8.1 64 bit. Since upgrading Firefox, it no longer accepts URLs in the URL bar - it works if I have a bookmark, a link or from History, but not if I enter or paste a URL and hit <enter>, in which case nothing happens at all.
I have found that issue reported for Ubuntu (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1011935?esab=a&as=aaq) but not for Windows. The solution there to change the keyboard is not feasible since it's a laptop with a built-in keyboard.
I did not have this issue with FF 28 (I finally upgraded because I was getting BSODs) and I don't have this issue with any other Browser on same platform.
    Any help appreciated.
    Thanks.

  • In Safari can you highlight the URL in the address field with one click?

In Firefox you can highlight the URL bar by clicking on it anywhere. Can this be done in Safari?

    Hi J MacD,
Clicking three, yes 3, times is necessary in Safari, or once on the favicon to highlight the URL.

  • Firefox 14.0.1 is NO longer showing the Norton SAfe Web icon in seacch results. The toolbar is there but NOT the safe web icon next to the URL in search results

After updating to Firefox 14.0.1 my search results NO longer show the Norton WEB Safe Icon next to each result. It worked fine before the upgrade. The Norton tool bar is there and when you click on the site the safe web report is there but NOT the icon in the search results.

Norton released updates for Firefox 14 early the same morning as the release of Firefox 14. Norton usually releases updates on the same morning as new Firefox versions. Have you updated Norton through their LiveUpdate?

  • Cannot enter a URL in the URL window with Firefox 7. Bookmarks load ok but I can't enter a URL manually.

I just installed Firefox 7 and I can't manually enter a URL. I can't type anything in the window. The only way to get to any website is to load a bookmark. I am using a Mac Book operating Snow 10.6.8

This has been reported periodically over the last year. Not sure I have any suggestions in addition to those in these threads:

  • URL request in the address field on the browser

A few of URLs in my application are only restricted to the web master. Before creating the special user role of the application, I would like to access those URLs through the address field on a browser. The problem I have is that a URL entered on the field will lead to a creation of a new session even though I enter a URL with the current jsessionid of TC. Is a way to prevent a creation of a new session?
    Thanks.
    v.

When I test on URLS. they show up in the address field with a jsessionid. I believe that is due to cookies disabled. Otherwise, the jsessionid wouldn't show up. But, when I check out the cookies setting on both Firefox and IE, they are enabled. I am not sure what is going on in this regard.

  • HT3708 Can I not paste a URL into the field? It keeps beeping at me.

Whenever I try to paste a URL into the link field, I get the beep alert. Does Apple seriously expect people to type in entire URLs?

It means you have an illegal character in your clipboard eg a return or some non-basic alpha-numeric character.
Or it contains styling information or something preceeding the http etc.

  • The URL field for iPhone Calendar Events is missing?

iCal on my Mac and my MobileMe Calendar both include a URL field for Events. I don't see the URL field on my iPhone Calendar events??? Am I missing something. I can't automatically have that link sync from iCal or MobileMe? I don't want to always have to manually move the URL into the Notes field.
This is a very annoying - Apple can figure out fancy Multi-tasking and App Folders for iPhone OS 4 but couldn't figure out how to add a simple URL field for Calendar Events??

    And your question is?

  • The field where the url should be visible, has shrunk so that I cannot see the url. I want to restore that field so that I can see the entire url.

Until a few days ago, I was able to read any reasonably short url in the familiar field or space at the top of the Firefox screen. Suddenly, that field, I mean the space where I might type a url, has shrunk. How can I restore that field? And incidentally what is that field called? Is it the address bar or the navigation bar or what?

It's called 'location bar', try to move mouse to its right edge. The cursor should obtain a ' <->' shape and you can click and drag it to the right to increase the location bar size.
If that doesn't work, open the [[safe mode]] dialog, tick 'reset all toolbars and controls', press 'save changes and restart'.

  • Can not copy a URL from the address bar/line

Why is it proving so difficult for me to copy a URL from the address bar using Safari?  When I click on the link I want to copy, it does not highlight.  I have used Command L and Command C, and that works but there has to be a simpler way.  I also read that if I click the address bar once, then press the control key and click on it again that a menu would appear with cut, paste, copy.  That does happen, but all options are greyed out, and not selectable.  Another google search resulted in someone saying there was a button or arrow to click on and that this tool would copy the URL.
The URL I am copying is very long, longer that the address bar window
    What Gives Here?

Click the icon (favicon) to the left of the URL.
That will select the entire URL.
Command C will copy the URL.

  • CSS loadbalancing based on parts of the URL

    HI,
I've to do loadbalancing based on parts of the URL.
The URL will look like this:
    www.myserver.com/a/b/c/d/x=12345/bdc/*.htm
If the x=<digits> is includes I've to use server1-3 1 if the x is not included I've to use server 4-6
I can right now think of two (2) methods:
    1) url ="/x=*"
    2) using a header-field group with field "request-line" and the operator contains.
    Now my two questions:
    - Is it enough to define in method 1 only "/x=*" or do I have to write down the whole path (/a/b/c/d/x=*) or is it possible to do url="*/x=*".
    - Is there any other way to have this sort balancing done?
    - Which method is best practise?
    Thanks in advance for answering.
    Kind Regards,
    Joerg

    Hi Gilles,
    thanks for your reply.
So both methods are possible. From my point of view method two is more flexible even if less specific. Is there any other draw back you can think of using method two, the one with the header group.
    Kind regards,
    Joerg

  • How do I delete something from the drop-down menu of the URL bar. I went there accidentally and don't want it in the list.

I directly typed what I thought was the correct URL into the URL box. It took me to a site different from where I was wanting to go. Now that site's URL is in the list of URL's in the drop-down box. Is there some way of deleting this from the drop-down list? It seems to me that there used to be a way to do this--a small x on the right side of each site's URL in the list. After one of the updates this was no longer there.

touch it with mouse, don't click, and press DELETE.
tell us if this work for you, thank you

  • How to design the URL?

How to design the URL?i know that the Google  will take down the good URL.such as the staticize URL Google will like more..

A site's URL structure should be as simple as possible. Consider organizing your content so that URLs are constructed logically and in a manner that is most intelligible to humans (when possible, readable words rather than long ID numbers). For example, if you're searching for information about aviation, a URL like http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aviation will help you decide whether to click that link. A URL like http://www.example.com/index.php?id_sezione=360&sid=3a5ebc944f41daa6f849f730f1, is much less appealing to users.
Consider using punctuation in your URLs. The URL http://www.example.com/green-dress.html is much more useful to us than http://www.example.com/greendress.html. Google recommends that you use hyphens (-) instead of underscores (_) in your URLs.
Overly complex URLs, especially those containing multiple parameters, can cause a problems for crawlers by creating unnecessarily high numbers of URLs that point to identical or similar content on your site. As a result, Googlebot may consume much more bandwidth than necessary, or may be unable to completely index all the content on your site.

  • Bookmark a page with username/password in the URL

I can add username/password for HTTP authentication directly to the URL (e.g. http://user:[email protected]/ ) and this works fine with the browser on Firefox OS 1.3 (on a ZTE Open C). However, when bookmarking that page, the bookmark doesn't include the username/password any more and so I'll have to manually enter the username/password when visiting that site again (after clearing private data) - and unfortunately there is no password manager for Firefox OS yet...
Another way to add a bookmark appears to be via a small Javascript using the "save-bookmark", however that appears to only give me the option to add the bookmark to the Home Screen (and I am not sure if it will keep the username/password information in the bookmarked URL).
Is there any other way to add a bookmark to the browser and keep the username/password information in the URL?

    Here is an example:
    http://user1:[email protected]/auth-basic/
Works fine if you enter that URL in the URL bar. But when bookmarking it, it only gets bookmarked as http://test.webdav.org/auth-basic/ and so you will have to enter username and password again (after clearing cookies and session data) when opening from bookmarks.
