Icon video files issue

wPhone: Nokia Lumia ICON - All videos taken using the camera on the phone since August 1, 2014 have been truncated or corrupted. The files do not show on the phone. The files do not show on OneDrive. When I connect the phone to my laptop I can find the files but the recording is tuncated and now sound. There was a recent camera software update. This needs to be repaired. I am hoping the video files can be edited and recovered. Ideas?

I've the same issue among many other and it's Nokia's fault! The files cannot be seen in the CameraRoll only by using Filemanager but they are unplayable! They have a filesize about ~3 GBs, so the data is present but I suppose the files are damaged or unfinished due to Nokia Camera application!
I want my videos repaired as there's a website which could repair them based on the preview pictures, but it would cost 70$s which I'm not willing to pay! http://mp4repair.org

I don't understand how the videos just disappear. I see many comments about the same thing. I am not going to use this app anymore. I am using OneShot for photos which is great and will use the video camera on the in-phone app.

On vacation, I went to review the videos of the day, but they are not there! Instead I have small unplayable files that I can only locate using a file manager. What a terrible feeling. I am so angry and disappointed. PLEASE FIX THIS BUG!

Became very unstable somewhere along the line. Sometimes does not save the photo just captured. Requires a restart to fix.

I am happy with the picture part of this app. However, I am really upset at the video part. I took a couple videos and they are nowhere to be found. One in particular that was very important for work. It is not saved to the SkyDrive or anywhere on the phone. I have completed all the troubleshooting necessary and it is still missing. How can I recovery this video that can never be replaced?

Where are my videos?? The app "records" video, but when going back to view, they are not there! This worked fine a week ago. Upset that I cannot find important videos.

Drag n Drop Video File Issue - e90 Vista

I connect my e90 with Windows Vista 32 bit. Nokia PC Suite version is 6.86.9.0. I tried to drag a .avi video file to the phone. While dragging the issue, Nokia PC Suite asked me two options, convert and do not convert. I selected do not convert the file. After few minutes, Nokia PC Suite informed me that the file transferred to the phone. When i checked in the phone, the file was not played completely. The original file size of the video in PC was around 90 MB but in the phone, the transferred file size was 20kb Whats the issue, am i supposed to select only convert option while dragging, if that is the case, what is the reason for this option ... Hope someone will have the solution.

No, Frame refers to a Flash frame. Likely you will need to temporarily insert a caption with the current frame variable and pause the slide to determine which frame you need to go to. Then delete the caption afterwards.

Bridge CC - 64 bit freezes when selecting a video file icon in content view

On a 64-bit PC (12 core, 64 GIG RAM) with solid state hard drive and Nvidia Quadra 4000 video card with latest driver. I have purged cache, I have reset preferences, I have changed shortcut to Run As Administrator. I've tried to find a way to run in 32-bit mode but can't find a way to do it. I've also looked to see how I can install a 32-bit version with Adobe Cloud but can't find anything. Any ideas how to stop Bridge CC 64-bit from continually freezing upon selecting a video file icon?

Thanks for the response. From what I can tell it is all video file types. The ones I most consistently have are .wmv, .mov, .mp4. I have also changed the file associations from the default video players to VLC to see if it was a Quicktime or Windows Media Player issue and that didn't solve it.

I have a DVD folder (VOB files)that was rip for me. They play correctly though it has the minus icon and the folder empty and I can't get permission to retrieve my home videos files .

You're not dealing with your typical DVD-Video data structure with a SONATA_VOLUME. This type of data structure is designed to prevent someone from extracting the data and it's very effective at doing so. You've probably already found that the applications that allow you to copy, extract and convert the standard DVD-Video data structure (a "VIDEO_TS" volume) will not work with a SONATA_VOLUME (apps like Toast, MactheRipper and Handbrake).
While making a digital copy is pretty much not an option with a SONATA_VOLUME, capturing the video and sound via an analog to digital capture usually works just fine. Of course, that's not nearly as simple as popping the disc into your computer and a drag and drop or just clicking "convert" or "extract" and waiting for the copy or conversion to finish.
Do you have any video hardware for capturing analog video? A MiniDV camcorder will do the trick if your Mac has a FireWire port. You'll also need video capture software. I'd recommend a version of iMovie that supports DV-NTSC, Final Cut Express or Final Cut Pro.
My Sony DVD recorder creates SONATA_VOLUMES while my Panasonic DVD recorder creates VIDEO_TS folders. The Sony is unplugged and sitting in the corner.

HP LTO-6 Compression issues for video files

Hi there,
My client is having major issues with the HP 6250 LTO-6 external tape drive, with HP LTO-6 tapes.
We are backing up video files and getting zero compression even tho it has been enabled on the yosemite software. The tapes also show a compression of 2.5TB but we need the extra compression as this is for video systems.
Can someone assist with this ? is it because we are trying to compress video files ?

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion Sleekbook 15-b002ee Notebook and the need to compression bypass on the Beats Audio Software .
To enable or disable Beats Audio, press the fn key in combination with the b key. The Jack does have influence on the Beats Audio which might need to be turned off. This will help and you can turn it off and on as you need it.
Here is a document on how to uninstall software. The bottom link shows you how to disable software.

Changing video file icons

Hi,
I know how to change icons usually, but when I try to change the icons of a video file it comes up as just blank in the finder. The picture shows as the icon in 'file info', but not under preview or in the finder window. How do I change this? I've tried a few things, from dragging and dropping the jpeg file to copying the actual image from preview.
I'm backing up a whole stack of dvds, and it would be handy to use an image other than the standard first black frame that's automatically chosen for most of them.

Not sure what you did for the two hours "making the menu" but I don't think you would need to redo that effort.
The surest way to keep the DVDSP project from becoming corrupt is to open the project and delete the old asset (need to delete it from any container it is used in (like a track) then delete it from the project. Save the project and quit.
Go to the par folder for the project and delete the parse file for the asset.
Encode new asset with slightly different name (like asset_02) then bring this new asset into DVDSP and load it into whatever container it was in before.
And of course before you do any of this make a copy of the project file.

NTFS issue: video files copied from Arch won´t load on other devices

I'm having this odd issue... I'll start from zero:
I have a 1TB external HDD (usb3, iomega). It has an NTFS filesystem since it was always my Windows backup drive. Since I've buyed a Digital TV that supports video playback from external drives and almost any video format, I'm using it as a movie/etc device. Previusly I had installed Ubuntu... but since I've installed Arch, any video file that I copy to the external HDD won't work on the TV. When I try to reproduce those files copied from Arch on the TV it hags and reboot several times.
I don't know where to start. I've installed ntfs-3g-fuse package for mounting r/w without root privileges... and my user is part of "disk" and "storage" group.
Any ideas?

Usually crash on access indicates damaged filesystem. For example drive was removed without umount-ing it.
For start you can run file system check on your drive from Windows - "chkdsk /f X:"
You also can run it as "chkdsk /f /r X:" to check for bad-blocks (though it is not so critical now days).
Keep in mind - NTFS is proprietary system so 'ntfsfix' from ntfsprogs in Linux could help sometime but do not hold you breath with it.
Better find Windows for Windows filesystem.
Or you can just recreate files system from scratch with mkntfs - all data on the drive will be lost, obviously. But you do not need windows for that.

Full motion preview as video file icon?

is there a way to give a video file a finder icon that shows a full-motion preview, much like the small clip that plays when you highlight a video file in frontrow? thanks!

I'm not certain about a Finder icon to assign to a video clip but here's an example of what you can do.
Open a Finder window. Select "Column View" from the buttons just right of your Forward/Back buttons. Now, in the Sidebar on the left, click Movies, (or whatever file you keep videos in, it's handy to keep them in the Sidebar)... a list of video files will appear. Just select one. A video clip will appear in the column to the right and you can view it that way. If need be you can Customize your Toolbar in any Finder window. Just open a Finder window, then in the Menu top of your Desktop, click View/Customize Toolbar.

I am having an issue with video file size increasing after editing in iMovie 11

So I start off my iMovie 11 video project with a .mp4 video file of roughly 900MB. After chopping off the beginning and ending (which is all I want to do) I have attempted finalizing and exporting using numerous options. The problem is, each time I do this my file turns into a 3.9GB .mov file! I don't want a huge file, I don't want a changed format file. I simply want to cut off the beginning and ending of my movie and leave everything else the same. Theoretically, this should make the file SMALLER since I am removing footage. Correct?
As you can probably tell, I am new to all this. But can anyone tell me how to keep my .mp4 file extension and simply delete the start and end?

The simple answer is, Don't Use iMovie.
If you want to just trim off pieces you can do that in QuickTime X, which is already installed on your Mac. Open the movie in the QuickTime X player. Now go to the Edit Menu and choose Trim... At the bottom of the window you will see a series of thumbnail images with a yellow highlighted box around it. To cut off the beginng pull in the handle along the left hand side of the yellow box. Same is true for the end grab the yellow handle on the right side and pull it in as well. Then click the Trim button, now you've got just the piece of the video you want to save. Now go to File > Save As... set the Format to be Movie (to keep it in the same file format as it started as.
This avoids all the transcoding/conversion that goes on when you import a video into iMovie.

Issues relinking files in FCP X -original audio & video files not accepted

I have recently updated my FCP x to version 10.0.9. Most of my projects have updated fine and until I loaded them on another mac (I have the actual files on an external hard drive) today, I was able to work with them as before.
Something strange happened today - when I loaded one of my projects, it said that the audio tracks I had previously detatched in the timeline could not be found (although the video files were in the timeline as before, showing the audio track beneath). But whilst they were marked red, I could still play back the project and hear the audio playing.
I decided to re-link the project files, except for the first 5 clips which hadn't been affected by the 'loss' of audio. After relinking the files, the audio worked, but the video showed up all black. It turns out that Final Cut had moved all my 'faulty' video files into the trash, and just kept the audio from these files (though I don't know where as there were no audio files in the folder the video files had been moved from.
I decided to re-start my computer and Final Cut, and to re-link the files again. At this point Final Cut came up with an error message, saying that the files could not be re-linked as they contained audio, whereas the original files didn't (this is of course incorrect as these are exactly the same original video&audio files I filmed and imported weeks ago.
Please help me, I am very worried about losing my projects I have spent weeks on editing as I use Final Cut professionally.

I have run into this kind of thing before and I can only attribute it to a data base error on FCPx part. In my case the only solution I have found was to re-import the files again and then drag the newly imported file to the timeline. You may choose to Replace or you may delete the original section in the timeline and just place an appropriate length section in. You'll have to reestablish transitions and such. There may be some other methods to deal with this kind of bug in FCPx but if there are I haven't found it. I have only encountered this kind of thing once or twice but I have found no way to ever get those files connected again and for FCPx to "see" things correctly.

Issues with Video file types

I have videos on my computer and it says they are in a divx compression format with mp3 audio. I want to put them on my iPod, but iTunes won't recognise them. Do you know what types of video files can be recognised by iTunes and iPod and is there any way I can convert these videos so they will be recognised?

Issue with video files

running Windows 7
Whenever I import a video file into Photoshop CS6 the audio plays but the playback screen is black. There's also no image in the timeline and no thumbnail present when using bridge or Lightroom 4. Videos will also not play in Lightroom library module (audio ok). Every video I've tried works in Windows media player or QuickTime and the video thumbnail is visible when I use Windows Explorer to look for files.

Issues with embedding large HD video files within keynote

I posted something over at the FCP forum, but Keynote is starting to get problematic when I import and embed 1 to 2 GB HD video files that have background music.
1 time Keynote did a hard hang during a project save and lost 20 or so slides although the thumbnails were still showing.
Trying to save the project is starting to also become a real chore.
I am exporting 3-5 minute long HD video clips shot at 1080i and then deinterlaced in FCP.
HDV already reduces image sharpness it is. I want to keep the quality/footage sharpness up as high as possible. The selected video size ends up being about 1065 x 569, but that is a size, not a sharpness, one of the things I always found confusing when referring to it as "resolution".
So what settings would you suggest when outputting via FCP?
Any Keynote settings or workflows advised?

You could try uploading them to a joint dropbox account that they could then download them from....but how fast it is will depend on the internet connection available.

LR4 and Sony NEX-7 video files?

I just installed LR4 and imported files from my Sony NEX-7, including raw files and video (.mts) files. The thumbnail of the file has a little video camera icon in the bottom left, but no time lenth of video as I exprected. And when I try to open a video file, the starting frame appears but there is no control bar under the video to allow me to "play" it and using the Spacebar doesn't start it either. What am I missing in this process?

I had a similar issue with a Sony RX100. It was not supported by ACR (Adobe Camera Raw) until version 7.2. Version 7.2 includes the NEX 7 too. It may have been included in earlier versions, but I'm not sure.
ACR is the free Adobe plug in that has all the camera and lens correstions and adjustments. The camera makers create there RAW formats and Adobe then, one at a time, turns that into conversion data in ACR. At least I think that's how it works!
PSE 10 will only go to ACR 6.7. It won't upgrade ACR past 6.7. You have to buy PSE 11 to get functionality with ACR 7.2
The way it works it that you have PSE search for updates under the Help menu. When PSE 10 was new, it allowed me to update the ACR to 6.7. In fact it insisted I do it. The same was true with PSE 11. It alerted me that an upgrade was available.
A similar situation exists with Lightroom. My Sony camera would not work with LR 4. It had to upgrade itself to 4.2
If you don't want to deal with the Adobe details, Sony provides "Image Data Converter" that can make files from the Sony RAW images that PSE10 can work with.
