Icons are dimmed or slightly greyed

Within the last week or two, my icons on my iMac G4 desktop in finder are all dimmed or slightly greyed. My best guess is it occurred right after a software update. The only icons that look normal are my iMac HD, external HD and Network.
Has this happened to anyone else? Does anyone know how to fix this?

The only similar thing I've seen is when the Finder is set to show invisible and visible items (The invisible ones are greyed out a little.) I used Tinkertool to switch on and off this functionality.
I would suggest that somewhere in your Finder prefs have been corrupted and a reset would be in order. Try zapping the PRAM (hold down Apple, Alt, P and R during start-up until you heard the second start-up boing).

Don't have "Live View". I am using Dreamweaver 8
My question is about the 2nd Row in Dreamweaver 8.
The first row has Titles: File, Edit, ect.
The second row has icons: I can not click on them to activate them.

Stack icons are invisible and labels grey with no way to identify them!

Why is my stack not working? I can't identify anything in my stack but the stack does work ie i can click on the icon, which i can see but not identify, and it will open a document i have downloaded?

My stacks icons do this as well. My Applications stack (which uses a grid view) works fine, even when this issue is affecting the others and if you change them to grid view, you get labels and pics. I have had this happen twice . . . the first time I logged out and back in and that fixed the problem. killall Dock in terminal did not help. I have no idea what causes/d this . . . it seems completely random. I'd hate to have to resign myself to a log out/in or restart everytime this starts happening.

I think the new grey icons are making my eyes hurt...

After upgrading to Lion today, my eyes started hurting while I was using the computer. There may be other reasons, but one of them could be because the icons are now in grayscale. I've noticed myself squinting when I go to click on one. They also seem to be slightly out of focus compared to everything else. Is anyone else getting this? Is there a way of changing the icons back to colour or making them larger?

Display has areas that are dim or darker in color slightly

Has anyone else had this issue where a small area of the screen is slightly dimmed or slightly darker than the rest? It seems more pronounced after the screen has been "on" for a few minutes. It is more noticable the further my eyes are from the display, but at 2-2.5 feet I notice it enough to bother me.

Update: turned out to be the screen and the video driver.

Ipod app icons are grey

I have just received my new ipod touch 2nd generation back from apple as my other one would no longer work. Having synced my material to my new ipod. 75 % of the app icons are just grey boxes . How do i fix this please to get the icons back on the apps..any help would be greatly appreciated

Yea ipod touchs do that, there probably downloading and you unplugged it, am i right? If you have alot of music and apps it should take from 30-60 mins to reinstall them...connect it to your computer and sync purchases or connect to wifi click apps to make them stop "waiting..."
NOTE: only one app can download at a time dont click them all at once clck one and leave it alone if you use wifi.

I changed the background picture, which is a dark pink flower, now the folders have become solid pink! Not esthetically pleasing

Jpeg icons are jagged

I'm going through my images, archiving some, tossing others. I've come across a folder full of jpeg images where the icons are so jagged you can't see what the image is.
How do I tell Finder to go through all these images and update the icon so that it is not pixellated?

I try and get by with the minimum amount of software on my system, but thanks for the suggestion of GraphicConverter.
Are you saying that Finder cannot "reicon" icons? Most of the icons are okay, it's just these 100 or so in one folder that have gone haywire.
If I open the files in Photoshop and "Save As" the icons come good, but I am afraid that by doing so I would be re-compressing the images, causing a slight degradation. Also, if I "Get Info" and look at the preview, the preview looks okay and and the icon is larger than what is displayed for the 128 x 128 maximum icon size. So Finder does know how to display the icons properly, but it has forgotten how to in the case of the images in this one folder.
Is there no way to tell Finder to go through these images and "reicon"?
Another question: where are the preview icons stored? Inside the image?

Desktop icons are rearranged after booting

Sometimes - I cannot make up the reason - my desktop icons are rearranged after booting in alphabetical order,
and also the icon-arrangement in some of the folders placed on the desktop is rearranged !!!
I'm used to arrange my icons in my way, and it's terrible, if the icon order is ****** up !!!
What's wrong? What can I do?

To some degree the problem with the desktop icons has been going on, well, forever! There were even problems back in OS9 days trying to arrange the desktop the way you personally wanted them. To solve that problem then the utility DIM (Desktop Icon Manager) was born. And believe it or not, the OSX descendent of DIM still exists today! See this link. Yes, DIM still exists because the problem still exists.
Interestingly enough I don't have the problem with my desktop so I don't use DIM. I initially did install it before I discovered my desktop icons were staying put without it. Everywhere else is another story. Don't get me started on that (d@mn View Options hierarchical effect).
Speaking of View Option, one thing to check is to see if your View Options for the desktop are snap to grid or None. I use snap to grid.

Application Icons are gray

Two days ago, I noticed while downloading updates and new apps that the icons, while they were loading/installing are now just a generic gray icon rather than a representation of the actual icon for the app. Has anyone noticed this as well and is something going on with the software on my iPhone?

The updates/downloads haven't failed at all; everything is fine. It's just that the icons are now a generic gray as the app or update is downloading and installing. Once installed, they have their proper icons.
I just checked with my roommate who has an iPhone as well and coincidentally his is doing the same thing. And he also remembers the icons not being gray during download either.

Ipod screen is faded/washed out, icons are barely visable

Ipod touch 4th gen.- the screen is tending towards complete whiteout, but icons are still visable at this point. Not a brightness problem, it's as if the everything is fading away to white. The bottom third of the screen is noticeably further along and harder to read. Looking at it from an angle is slightly better. Thanks for any insight.

Did the iPod get wet before? Could be damage to the screen/LCDcaused by water or other liquid.

All my desktop icons are Adobe Reader icons, can't access related files

I was trying to open a file this morning, and when a pop-menu asked what application I wanted to choose (from a list) to open it, I clicked on Adobe Reader - just as a guess. After that, just about all my desktop icons are Adobe icons, and when I click on them, the pop up menus says I can't access the file. These icons also show up on my menu of all my MS Office programs like Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.
Tech support at Adobe recommended I use System Restore, but it also is now an Adobe icon, so I can't open it. If anyone can help reverse this, I'd greatly appreciate it.

This also happened to me this morning. Now all my icons are PDF symbols and Reader opens when I try to open any other program. I uninstalled Reader it and it fixed itself but when I reinstalled the program the same issue occurred.
I wanted to make PDF reader the default application when openning PDF's vs. Distiller, tinkered and broke my computer.
Any clues on how to bring everything back to normaL?

I would try another restore of the hard disk to its original out-of-the-box contents using Toshiba recovery media. Maybe something went wrong in the process. Make sure everything works before applying any updates and adding any hardware or software.
Then add things carefully, rebooting Windows and testing the USB and audio at each step.
Please note this.
The only info windows gives me for the sound card is that it from Microsoft... with a driver version of 6.1.7601.17514....which naturally doesn't really help me since I have no idea what card or mobo I have . Is there any way for me to find out what I need other than opening up my laptop?
Every one of them lists my mobo simply as a Toshiba motherboard, with no audio card information. Which I'm assuming that is because it has an internal sound processor. My problem is that none of the properties, or ANYTHING I try, will give me information on what I need to fix this...
