Icons, desktop app

Hello,
I would really like to know how to make executable icons for java apps? I mean like a desktop icon. Need to know how to make them for linux/unix, mac os x and windows.
Thanks a lot
Karl-Johan

If you mean that you just want to be able to run a java app by double-clicking it, then make an executable jar. That's easy.
If you want to configure what the icon looks like...I think that'll vary on an OS basis. I seem to recall reading about OS/X extensions to make java apps act more like OS/X programs, including controlling the icon, the menu bar, etc. I suspect that each OS and/or windowing environment will have their own way of doing it.

  • Extend supported icon sizes for AIR Desktop Apps

Currently AIR Desktop Apps seem to only support a limited set of icon sizes (16x16, 32x32, 48x48, 128x128px).
It would be great to see bigger icon sizes (like 256x256 and 512x512px) being supported as well. For example, Windows7 does not display 128x128px icon size so the maximum icon size for AIR apps on Windows is currently 48x48px (which actually is pretty small and results in pixelated icons).
Can you please consider the option of extending supported icon sizes?

Feature request for this issue: Bug#3844899 - Adobe AIR does not support 256x256 desktop icons on Windows Vista, 7 or 8.x

  • The 'Apps' tab in my Creative Cloud Desktop app shows a Download Error

I have tried uninstalling, downloading, and reinstalling Creative Cloud Desktop and continue to get the Download Error prompt.  It either shows the Download Error prompt or it continues to just think and think and think.  All the other tabs work normally. I've also signed out and signed in of my CC account multiple times . . . with the same outcome.
All of this started after I had updated all the available updates . . . I was also looking to install Lightroom CC.

  • CC desktop app stops launching @ boot-up & Adobe Tech Support can't fix it permanently. Now what?

Problem: Adobe Creative Cloud desktop app stops launching upon boot-up and the CC icon does not appear up on my iMac's desktop menu bar at top. And whenever I loose that, I can't open my CC apps.  Our friends in India seem eager to help and always manage to stumble onto a solution, (each time through a different process, it seems), but that lasts for only 2 or 3 boot-ups before it quits working again.
When I try to manually launch the "Adobe Creative Cloud" desktop app (by double-clicking it in my Applications folder), its red icon appears on my Dock and bounces up and down but does nothing more. My Force-Quit utility shows it as "not responding" so I have to force quit it.
My case has been elevated to Tier-2 Support but they call outside of the agreed-upon hours so I'm not here. My only recourse is to call them back, but that only gets me yet another Tier-1 technician and their limited troubleshooting playbook. I did get to talk with a Tier-2 technician once, but the results were still the same:  Manages to restore it, but after just a few boot-ups the Adobe Creative Cloud app stops launching again and I can't use my Creative Cloud tools: Ps, Ai, Id, Pr. (And leaving my workstation on all the time isn't an option.)  What DOES keep working without fail is Adobe's monthly hit on my credit card.
Has anyone else experienced this and managed to permanently solve it?  How?  I'm running a slightly older OS-X 10.7.5 and wondering if that could be a factor. Thanks for reading this and for any help you can offer.

  • Include Air ( desktop app ) inside Mobile app permited by Apple / Android?

Include Air ( desktop app ) inside Mobile app permited by apple / android?
    This is my question....:
I need a "viewer" app run in a desktop machine... via p2p... ( done and working )
I will like to include it in my iOS / Android Release, an then by example move it to the documents folder.
Run iTunes and then copy the file from the shared document folder.
Is this permited by apple / android / adobe ?
    Thanks....

just tracing some kind of tests I'm doing.
A couple of hours ago I left working 2 instances of my Application, leaving alone this computer: one instance is the Mac desktop version and the other one is the Web version. In this case both versions were running on the same computer (an iMac with OS X Mavericks):
    1) the AIR/Mac version have been recompiled yesterday with the new AIR4(.0.0.1619 - AIR 3.8 is used to fall in a equivalent way - no changes)
    2) the Web version have been compiled targeting FP 11.8 and it is running on Chrome browser with PepperFlash NOT disabled (which reports version MAC 13.0.0.80, the latest)
I left working both the Mac and the Web versions of the Application opened on the pc screen (= not minimized) but kept totally behind some Terminal/ssh windows (= not on OS focus and the system is not asked to update any screen area of the app for sure).
I came back after about 2 hours and I got the browser version connected&running (but it is not a rule) and I also found the AIR-based Mac version disconnected (uau, usually I found the app disconnected but with the screen freezed at last user look ->) which rapidly reconnects upon my click on the Apple dock icon (bring to front).
Why these different behaviours? I ask to myself.
The two versions of the software are TOTALLY the SAME application: except for the first Flash file (a 24kb swf file for the Web version and a 170kb dmg file for the Mac version), basically a platform-dependent loader, both versions loads the same remote swf modules. Of course t is AIR (or my first Flash file?).
I attach the source code of the Mac version of the [first file] AIR-based application at the following url:

_Adobe_, is it a bug? isn't it?

Installed creative cloud for MAC (running OSX 10.9). App does not run. I see the Creative Cloud icon at top of screen (in menu) for about 0.5 seconds then it disappears. No error messages or warnings. I have tried to uninstall and install the desktop app many times with the same results. It appears there is no way to download the LR CC and PS CC that I paid for.
I have even tried to run this from another dmim account. Same error.
I have run disk utility - repair disk and repair permissions.

  • Is there any way the Creative Cloud desktop app can indicate which Market items have already been downloaded?

Hi, I'm not sure whether this is a general issue with the Creative Cloud desktop app, or something is going wrong with my installation, but I receive seem to receive no indication that I have already downloaded an item when I open CC --> Assets --> Market. Looking in my Libraries, I now find some items I've downloaded up to 4 times. Is there some indication I am missing? Is my installation of CC desktop messed up? Or should I suggest that there should be some indication of whether an item has been downloaded or not on that Market page in the app? Even when I go specifically to downloaded items, none of those items has the cloud with the arrow icon grayed out. The only time that icon grays out is when I download the item and keep that page/window open to download other items. As soon as that page/window is closed, the next time I open it, all icons are no longer grayed out, so I no longer have a clue as to what I downloaded unless I open my libraries in my browser. Seems a bit primitive.

Hi Elba, Thank you for your time and effort in researching this. Unfortunately, the above method you describe is more than a little awkward. When one shows the Downloaded window, as you illustrate, that greys out all the individual categories. So, if I were looking for brushes, I'd have to check if I already had it by going to the downloaded window, then navigate back to brushes by first going to Featured or Recent, and then to Brushes, (even All Categories is not clickable, though it looks active). I'd also need to have a very, very good memory, or be going back and forth very often, with how close some brushes appear, and how similar their names are.
Instead, in a browser window, I go to my library from my adobe.com page, so I can see what brushes I have while the window where I can download brushes is open:
However, this still seems awkward to me. Adobe could grey out the icons to indicate they had already been downloaded, while still allowing them to be clickable and downloadable. I guess more code would be needed. I see examples of this every day in both Apple's app store, and Google's play store. For that matter, even the Adobe CC desktop app itself informs me of what Desktop Apps I have installed on each computer, and even whether they need to be updated. I guess, though, the situation for all of those is a bit different, not being quite so cloud-based.

  • CC desktop app gone after latest update

I clicked "Install" when prompted there was a new update available for the CC Desktop App. It appeared to be going through an update, but then the icon for the app dissapeared from my desktop. I can't find where it can be launched. Where did it go?

    Abhijit,
I'm afraid that my problem with the CC Desktop App Home panel is NOT a disk permissions issue...
Per your suggestion, I verified my hard drive, repaired permissions, and rebooted my laptop. However, when I click on the Creative Cloud icon in the Finder's menu bar, the Home panel still displays a continually spinning gear wheel, as it did previously. The Apps panel is properly displayed, and the Files and Fonts panels display "coming attractions" messages; I don't have any projects in the Behance panel.
Prior to visiting this forum, I did a Google search on the problem of "CC Desktop App Home Panel Hangs," and I found a couple posts suggesting that the only way to cure this problem is to uninstall all CC/CS6 apps, use Adobe Cleaner to clean up the CS6/CC installation, and then reinstall all the apps via CC...and that doing all this does not necessarily prevent the problem for recurring.
I must say that I'm finding certain aspects of the Creative Cloud implementation to be surprisingly buggy. I've already lost a couple day's work to dealing with Creative Cloud installation and functionality issues--which is very frustrating, to say the least.
That being said, if you have any other suggestions, I'm willing to try them, as I would like to get my Creative Cloud installation working properly.

  • Digital Publishing Suite not shown in Creative Cloud Desktop app

Our company just purchased/installed Creative Cloud for Teams for several  MAC computers, but only one of them shows Digital Publishing Suite in the CC menu in the taskbar.
The computers are running OS 10.8.5.

Digital Publishing Suite is accessible via an online app at https://digitalpublishing.acrobat.com - from there you can downlaod the desktop app which helps you to build the apps and also start to publish. The icon will only appear in the CC menu if you are running the app on that machine... but it's only downloadable from the site.
    Hope that helps.

  • Why is the Creative Cloud desktop app not seeing that Photoshop CC is already installed?

I have Photoshop CC 32bit and 64bit installed on a W7 64bit, 3770, 32Gb ram etc system.  No operating problems with Photoshop CC at all.  But I have just used the Creative Cloud desktop app (I'm not sure if "app" is the right term - it looks like a CC "Manager") - red icon - to update Photoshop CC.  No problems with this.  But curiously, where Photoshop CC is listed in all the available CC programs, its status is shown as "install".  It is already installed.
Grateful for any explanation.  I'm not losing sleep over it, just curious.  Thanks.

Make sure that your Language settings are the same between the apps and the Application Manager.  i.e.  Both English North American or English International.  (I had the same problem, and that fixed it.)
