Icons rearrange move after resetting / rebooting

Every single time i reboot / reset my phone my icons rearrange / change order! how can i stop my phone from doing that? the older version OS didn't do that....it takes so much time to rearrange everytime i reboot, i am using the BB today plus theme .... i need this theme but don't want my icons moving everytime i reset phone...i have to reset phone constantly to delete messages that won't remove from home screen

You can RE-Arrange each icon Individually by simply pressing the BLACKBERRY BUTTON then select MOVE and use the ball to Re-Arrange to where you like them ( Note this is done just on the phone itself the blackberry button is located to the right of the Green SEND button) Also make sure your NOT connected to the MEDIA MANAGER,DESKTOP or DEVICE Manager USB or BlueTooth.
After the icons are set the way you like them connect the USB or BlueTooth with the Manager Program and perform a BACKUP.
Now everytime you Restore or Backup again it will remain the way you placed them.
Hope this helps

  • Applications rearranging themselves after reset

OK here's a new one...for me anyway....  About 2 weeks ago I noticed apps on my 2nd and 3rd pages would now appear on the first page after a reset of my VZW Pre Plus.  Things like Mobile Hotspot and Google Maps that have stayed put for months.  I would move them back only to see them wind up back on page one later.  This was before 1.4.5.1 and is still happening after the update.
Is this happening to anyone else?  Does my Pre Plus need to see the Doctor?
Thanks in advance for any and all help!
Post relates to: Pre Plus p101vzw (Verizon)

First thing to do is boot into safe mode and see what happens. If it's OK then look for a third-party startup item.
Next try creating a new user account then logging into that account. If the problem ceases then you are probably looking for a login item.
Applications don't just start up on their own so there must be something installed that's doing the deed.

  • Apps / Icons Rearrange themselves after sync

This has happened more than once and it is getting quite frustrating. I have over 80 apps and I like to have them organized by screen all "card games", "internet links", "gym", etc on one screen. It's getting to the point however that I don't want to sync my phone since it shuffles the order of the icons on ALL screens across all screens - IE. an app that was on the 10th screen may now be on the first screen. Shouldn't it keep this information when it SYNCs the phone? Do I need to click something on to have it keep my custom icon arrangement?

    Hi Kit,
What version of iTunes and iPhone software are you using?
You can check the version of the iPhone software by tapping Settings> General> About.
You can check the version of iTunes by clicking iTunes(near the Apple)> About iTunes.
If you haven't already updated to the latest software available, go ahead and update to iTunes 8.1.1 and iPhone software 2.2.1.
If the iPhone and iTunes are already updated try resetting the iPhone. Just hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons on the iPhone until you see the Apple logo as described here: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305743
If the issue persists after updating iTunes and the iPhone, try restoring the it. This article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414 will walk you through restoring the iPhone.

  • Desktop icon arrangement moves after restart

I have folders on my desktop arranged in the way that I prefer. Every 3rd or 4th restart or shut down/start up my icons all rorder themselves and go to the right hand side of my display in 2 vertical rows (in random order).
I getting really tired of moving everything back to the arrangement I like. This never happened in SL. Most of the time I untick the "Reopen windows when logging back in" and I know I have the prolblem then. I'm honestly not sure if leaving the "Reopen" box selected would cure the problem. I don't think so but I be aware of it and see.
I've attached a screenshot of the arrangement I want to keep. Any thoughts on what's causing this and what I can do to correct it.

We're having th same problem!  Would love to know how to fix this bug?

  • HD icon moves after restart

Hi, silly, but annoying problem. Recently, my HD icon moves after I restart my machine. Only icon to do this. I usually keep it in the upper right hand corner, but now it seems happier in the lower right hand corner - below a folder I have there. This is really annoying. I keep moving it back, and the stubborn fella returns below. I tried in preferences to uncheck it and then recheck it, but no go. Any thoughts? It's driving me crazy. Even more, why did it just decide to change zip codes?
    Thanks all.
    M

You might try Onyx or Yasu (utilities that are donation ware/freeware) and delete the ds.store files which are supposed to keep track of this. You could also delete your user finder plist(com.apple.finder.plist). If the files are corrupted then they can mess things up.
Also, as Ali says, putting them too close to the side of the screen is like telling the icon " Your master has screwed up and you are free to go where ever you want now.". Put it close to the upper right corner where you want then let the Finder accurately place it by selecting View and then Cleanup.
Occasionally, my icons like to wander. I just get used to it (or have been beaten down by it) and no longer ask why.

  • Safari misbehaving after reset

I've been having serious beachball issues with Safari, so in my troubleshooting one of the first things I tried was to reset Safari. The result has been that the beachball issues haven't gone away, and more problems have arisen, specifically:
    1) Using CMD+[comma] to get to Preferences doesn't work the first time I do use it in a session. The Safari menu flashes blue, but nothing happens. When I hit the key combo a second time, the Preferences come up.
    2) Once in Preferences, when selecting a particular preference in the toolbar, sometimes that preference does not come up, and I have to click away to another preference, then click back. This happens most often with the add-on preference Safari Cookies, which leads to...
    3) I have Safari Cookies installed, and after resetting Safari, this preference doesn't work, the Cookies tab displays no content — not even my saved favorites — and the About tab is blank.
I've been in contact with the programmer of Safari Cookies, and we're both stumped.
But here's the kicker: Out of frustration, I ran just about every **** thing in Onyx — clearing system and user cache and logs, etc. After doing so, Safari was back to normal, with Safari Cookies working again — for about a week. Then it was right back to beachballs and preference problems, and I can't think of a single thing that would have triggered the return to the broken behavior.
Anybody got an idea or two?

    Hi,
A common troubleshooting tip we suggest is to login to anohter user account, launch Safari there. If you see the same problems, that can be indicative of a problem with the startup disk. Launch Disk Utility from the admin account. Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left then select the FirstAid tab. Click: Verify Disk.
If Disk Utility reports problems, follow the instructions here for Using Disk Utility to Verify or Repair Disks. You will need your install disc.
If Safari runs ok in another account, then go to Safari / Preferences - Extensions. Turn that off, see if it makes a difference.
If it's not Extensions, follow the instrucitons here for troubleshooting Safari third party plugins.
Safari: Unsupported third-party add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues
And try troubleshooting the Safari .plist file. Quit Safari. Open a Finder window. Select your Home Folder in the Sidebar on the left. It has a small house icon. Then open the Library folder then the Preferences folder. Move the com.apple.Safari.plist file from the Preferences folder to the Desktop. Now launch Safari. If Safari functions as it should, move that .plist file to the Trash.

  • Iphone stuck on 'plug into itunes' symbol - even after hard reboot

Deciding to update my iphone 3G with the most current version release, my computer 'blue screened' while putting the updates on the iphone. Now my computer does not recognise any operating system (not good!) and my iphone (even after hard reboot) does not get past the 'plug into itunes' symbol.
How do I fix my iphone? - I don't want to reset it to factory settings as my computer with everythihng on it (songs, movies, apps, contact, etc) no longer works!
Any ideas, other than going to the Genius Bar and hoping they can fix it?
    Thanks

Place the device in DFU mode (google it) and restore.
    Error 20, 21, 23, 26, 28, 29, 34, 36, 37, 40

In rare cases, these errors may be a hardware issue. If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.

  • Reinstalling Audio drivers after every reboot

    Hi,
    I have a P750 PSAY3A-02J001 which i gor in australia.
Recently I had to buy a new hard drive (as the old was scratched) and have windows 7 reinstalled. This was done in England.
After this I then restored from my external Hard drive.
After this restore i saw a lot of icons shaped like a clamp which all seemed to refer to specific Toshiba settings. I have opened and installed all of these and they appear to be working okay except for the Audio drivers.
After every reboot I have no sound when playing movies etc and have to reinstall the drivers again.
I have saved the folder on my desktop (for ease to reinstall every time) however Im wondering if the Laptop is not starting up this driver or its being saved in the wrong spot? any way to fix this?
Also I was attempting to use the Toshiba doanloads section to update everything however under my Model P750 there is no PSAY3A-02J001 (my model doesnt seem to exsist?)
    Many thanks in advance

You didn't find your machine listed here because this site is only for US computers.
Downloads for your Aussie model are here.
After this I then restored from my external Hard drive.
Please tell us all about that backup image. Exactly which application are you using?

What is the make and specific model of the new hard drive? If it uses advanced-format technology, that may be the source of the trouble.

  • I can not access pages-numbers etc after resetting my mac air

    Hi,
I can not find pages-numbers and other office doc after resetting my macbook air.
Even i can not find those prg at appstore/purchases.

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased.
If there are multiple apps trying to download at once, only one can download at a time and the rest say "Waiting" until it is then their turn. Try this. Double tap the icon of the Waiting app, and it should resume the download.

Another thing to try - Turn the iPad Off & then back ON.
    If that doesn't work:
    •  Log out of your iTunes store account.  Go to Settings > Store > Sign Out Then press the Home button.
    • Then press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously and don't release them when it brings up the Turn Off screen; keep holding them until the Apple logo appears.
    • After restart, the Waiting should be gone.

  • HT5037 I still get the message to download the app, but I did, and the installation was allegedly successful.  This even happens after a reboot

I still get the message to download the app, but I did, and the installation was allegedly successful.  This even happens after a reboot

I guess that was a bit cryptic.  I'm trying to update iPhoto from system 10.5.6, a PowerPC system, to 10.8.  The app I downloaded is iPhotoLibraryUpgrader.dmg. I open that and I see Iphoto Library Upgrader.pkg.  Igo through the install, which says it completes successfully.  However, when I double-click on the iPhoto icon on the dock, I get the oroginal message that the upgrade must be installed.  I hope this gives enough information to diagnose the problem.  I apologize for the first message's laack of detail.

  • After reset Mail hangs w/spinning ball on "Reading table of contents"

This problem is on a 17" monitor Power PC G4, 256mb DDR SDRAM.iMac, half ball bottom, with Mail, with Systems 10.3.9
After Reset, Mail is hanging with the spinning beach ball on "Reading table of contents." Quite a few emails are being retrieved and placed in the Dock before the hang, and Mail responds to mouse commands up to the "hang." Then a Force Quit is the only way to proceed. Other programs run OK, with Mail "hung."
The reason for the Reset is that my daughter reads "fan fiction," and can go through a hundred pages in an hour, and the computer gets so plugged up that it takes FIVE MINUTES to retrieve, then display another Safari window. Empty Cache does not help. So, to get things back to normal, a reset is required. Something went wrong on this reset.
This happened once before, possibly with OS-X 10.2, and I was advised to delete a file somewhere deep in Systems, and Mail apparently made a "new" file and all was fine from then on. My "guess" is that Mail then makes a new "table of contents."
Anybody know what file to delete? Or any other advice? At the moment, I am getting Mail with another IMac, with System 10.2
iMac 17" "half ball bottom" 1 GHZ PowrPc G4   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

    Hello Jean.
When you use the term "reset", are you referring to a
    computer restart?
On this PowerPC with 10.3.9, what is the hard drive
    capacity and available free space?
If the problem Inbox mailbox is for a POP type
account, with the Mail.app quit and using the Finder
go to Home > Library > Mail > this account named
folder (named by the user name and incoming mail
server for the account) > INBOX.mbox.
Move the INBOX.mbox to the Desktop.
Launch Mail and if successful, a new (and empty)
INBOX.mbox will be created automatically by Mail
within this account named folder when receiving the
    next message with this account.
This should allow the Mail.app to function properly
again while working on the old INBOX.mbox move to the
Desktop to recover the existing messages.
Control-click on the old INBOX.mbox moved to the
Desktop and at the menu window that appears, select
    Show Package Contents.
List the package content file names and size of
    each here.
I have had the same problem as Jean - did what you advised and now find mail runs find but need to rescue the old mail.
This is the package content of my old inbox:
    content index 36 kb
    content_index-computername.local-372 10.9 MB
    info.plist 4 kb
    mbox 939.1 MB
    tableofcontents 1.5 MB
    hope you can help me...

  • HT5656 This is all great but for me the "IPv6 Delegated Prefix" field never sticks. After the reboot to apply the settings, it is empty again. I have tried the 6.2 Airport Utility on OS X 10.8.2 and the iOS Airport Utility. Any ideas?

    Hi All,
I had a working IPv6 tunnel with my Airport Express to tunnelbroker.net using the 7.6.1 firmware.  After updating to 7.6.3, I have tried many things to get it to work and the only one that works is downgrading from 7.6.3 back to 7.6.1.  After seeing this new technical note, it appears that the root of my issue is that I can not get the "IPv6 Delegated Prefix" field to stick - it is always empty after the reboot to apply the settings.
       Any ideas?
         Thanks,
           CraigN

I'm in the same boat with a 3rd Gen AEBS.  Only thing I haven't tried is a complete reset and reconfiguration from nothing, which I may wind up doing this afternoon just to rule it out.  The best irony of all of this is that tunnelbroker.net is under my responsibility, and I can't validate the new settings paradigm.  At least getting back to 7.6.1 is easy enough and everything works fine there.
IPv6 Delegated prefix doesn't get saved when using the format from their example, then a 6to4 address shows up as the local address on the main Internet page, and no RAs are received once the AEBS comes back from a reload.  Something's a little off on this release.
