Icons turned white

I used the disk I got with my macbook pro to do a factory restart (OS X), and now when I drag an icon onto my desktop (example:  yahoo, msn, fb)...it is a white sheet of paper that says @http on it.  Is there a way to get the regular icon to show up?  Before the restart, I did not have this issue.  Thanks!

You are not dragging icons, you're dragging websites.  Yahoo, msn & FB are not icons.  Reason for the @http = websites.
If you have actual icons for websites, where are they located on your HD to get the @http?  Can you post a pic of the actual icons that you are dragging to your desktop before they turn into @http?

  • Battery icon turned white?

I just bought a ipod nano 6th gen and updated the version from 1.0 to 1.2. But now the battery icon is always white (insead of green). Altough there are th symbols for 'charging' and 'charged' state. Why is so? I would like to have the usual green icon. please help. thnx

Head to Settings -> General -> Accessibility and make sure the White on Black option is set to Off.
Otherwise, if that isn't the case, have you tried a hard reset or restore of the iPod in iTunes to see if that makes a difference?

Have you tried a System Restore to a time before the change occurred?

  • Why did the icons on my ipod turn white?

Some of the icons on my ipod touch turned white after I updated to IOS 5.1

    Hello Ingo2711,
I have seen this response of yours in multiple threads on this topic and I just wanted to let you know that this is not a fix for this problem.  It simply does not work.  A full restoration of the iPod works, however that is an unacceptable fix due to the loss of data this will cause with many apps, such as Awesome Files.  Restorations or setting up the device as new does not restore files contained in these types of Apps.  Removing each app one at a time just by unchecking them in iTunes, then resynching, then adding the app and synching again does fix the problem temporarily, but this work around also fails to replace files and data within the apps that you remove and add back.  I don't know why, but it appears to me that any apps which are listed in iTunes under File Sharing, will lose all of the data if you ever remove them in any way.
I am seriously tired of this problem and will continue to scoure the internet for a solution.  I think this is going to actually require a patch to the iOS.

  • Some of my desktop icons have turned white

Some of my desktop icons(.docx and .json files) have turned white. They open alright, but the icons have turned white. I have Windows 8.1 OS. Please help me out.

    Hi,
This might be caused by service conflict, I suggest to perform a clean boot in this way:
1.Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search. Or, if you are using a mouse, point to the lower-right corner of the screen, and then click Search.
2.Type msconfig in the search box, and then tap or click msconfig.
3.On the Services tab of the System Configuration dialog box, tap or click to select the Hide all Microsoft services check box, and then tap or click Disable all.
4.On the Startup tab of the System Configuration dialog box, tap or click Open Task Manager.
5.On the Startup tab in Task Manager, for each startup item, select the item and then click Disable.
    6.Close Task Manager.
7.On the Startup tab of the System Configuration dialog box, tap or click OK, and then restart the computer.

  • After renaming the desktop shotcuts have all turned white (icon picture missing)

    Hi,
I'm trying the new windows and I just renamed some of the desktop shortcuts - removing from them the awful suffix "shortcut" and after restart they all turned white and the picture disappeared. The icons have been deleted also from the aplication's
.exe file and can't be reloaded.
    Thanks
    Win10 user

    1. Go back to that registry hack program you were using to remove the arrows, UN-DO it.
    2. If that failed to restore the desktop shortcuts, use the following tutorial. It is written for Win 8 /8.1. It is applicable to Win 10 TP.
    http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/8486-default-file-associations-restore-windows-8-a.html
At the File Type or Protocol table, scroll down to .exe
    > click it and save it to the desktop.
Follow the steps listed at the top of the tutorial from #1 to 7.
Scroll down to .lnk    and repeat
    the steps #1 to 7.
    Reboot your computer.
Hopefully, that will restore your shortcuts' file type associations.
    Good luck.

  • There are no icons of the apps i downloaded. I mean, I used them for a while, then my iPod died, I charged it a little, then turned it on, and saw blanks instead of apps. They work pretty fine, but there are no icons, just white rectangles. What can I do?

    - First try resetting the iPod:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - If still problem restore the iPOd via iTunes on your computer.  First from backup and if problem persists restore to factory defaults/new iPod.

Try restore from iTunes or iCloud backup.

    The normal suggestions.
Close the app,off fully.  Double tap the home screen then touch and hold any of the icons on the task bar until they jiggle, then close them all off by touching the - sign.
Then reboot the pad and try the spp again.  If same issue, delete the app, then reload it.  ( no charge). You may just have a bad copy.  If continues, write to the developer, they may need to do an update.  I have an older version of the same app and it works fine.
Since yours is the ad supported version, they are maing real sure you see the ad.  Is it as simple as you need to click thru the ad to get to the game?

  • T410s Screen Turning White

    Hey guys,
So its only been about one week since I received my new T410s, and despite all the little problems I've had, here comes another one...
When working on the computer (anything, word editing, surfing the web) about once a day for the past few days the screen all of a sudden begins to dim very slowly over a period of about 5-8seconds and then all the tool bars in whatever app i'm in and the icons in the task bar and desktop start turning white. Like their labels and icons start getting very high contrast white.
What could this be? Happens when either working on the machine or after its been idle for a few minutes. AC plugged in or on battery.

Similar things have been reported on T410 models:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=468426
There, the culprit seems to be a bug in the intel graphics driver. Disabling powermanagement fixes it. Presumably we'll get an updated driver at one point which just works...

  • Menus that animate turn white after 15 seconds

I've spent some time trying to resolve this issue with animated menus that turn white after so many seconds.  I'm on a Vista, Core 2 Quad, Gateway, 4 gigs of ram; and it's doing well with CS4, but this issue has me stumped.  Static menus are working fine.  I even tried rendering the animated menus also, but didn't help.
Does anyone have a simple answer to this?
    Thank you,
    LB47

    Hi Hunt,
After I wrote you this morning, I tried again to work with the Animated Film Menu.  I was able to eliminate the white problem by making the audio track playing the same length as the Film Menu Animation which was 16 sec.
The original problem was that I was using the full length music track from that video clip.  Instead I exported it to the 16 sec. length of the Film Menu Animation.  Afterwards I did render it, and that went quickly.
Now that was working as programmed in the Preview Mode; however, after I made the DVD, it only played once and after the 16 sec interval - it totally stopped and went out of DVD play mode.
In another test before letting the DVD play thru the 16 sec interval, I checked the links and they all work fine, each one bringing me back to the menu and each time the animation played with music in the background fine. But after that interval, it stopped playing and jumped out of the DVD mode again, showing me the DVD Machines Icon which happens to be Panasonic. I tried this twice by making 2 DVD's.
That’s the latest update for now,
...hope this helps to eventually resolve this problem.

  • Screen turning white

    Hi.
I just bought a white unibody macbook. Its my first day using it.
What i've seen so far is that a few programs have been freezing. But that wasnt too much of a problem. But all the sudden the mac froze and the screen started turning white until it was all white. The music still played as normal. I had to press the button in order to turn it off. It also seems a bit slow when i press icons and doesn't always respond the first time i click.
I'm just a bit worried that my new mac might have a problem or if this is just something that happens every now and then and that i should forget about it?

From your description, it sounds like you may have had a kernel panic. When you say the screen went white and you had to "press the button in order to turn it off", do you mean that when the screen went white, a message came up in several languages telling you to press the button to turn it off?
Have you installed any program on it since you got it? If not, I would suggest that you bring it back and have it replaced. Kernel panics are not something you should expect (provided that is what you were describing).
You should not be experiencing any freezing or response issues either.
If you have installed programs, it is possible that it/they may have compatibility issues. If you have installed something, let us know what it is.
