IContinual "recovery mode" cycle when iPod plugged in
I'd be grateful for any assistance with this one, this is my 2nd iPod in 2 days as the first one had a broken screen so i'm getting a bit fed up.
I have an 80Gig Classic and am running a PC/XP Home and the latest version of iTunes. I also have a Mac but it doesn't have a sufficently "new" version of the OS to support my new iPod so it isn't an option.
When i plug the new ipod in i get the message "iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode. You must restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes."
I carry out the restore, the iPod disconnects and reconnects (in software, i don't unplug it) and up pops the same error message again. I've done the reset/reboot thing to no avail. I did once get as far as entering the name of the iPod etc. but my success was brief and as soon as i disconnected the iPod and reconnected it i was back to the recovery mode loop.
I hope this is something simple and i'm not going to have to return yet another iPod so all suggestions are gratefully received.
I have a similar problem with my 80 gig. Downloaded the 1.0.3 update. When the installation was finished, I got a message sayng I had to recover to use the iPod with iTunes. And so I did. Now all I see is the "do not disconnect". When I disconnect it anyway, it says "Ok, to disconnect", and when I reconnect it, the disconnect message reappers. No matter how many times I recover, the same message keeps popping up. Reseting the iPod does not work either.
Now, the problem now is that when I use the guide linked to, the iPod doesn't show up when I go to Disk Management, which means I cannot reassign any letter. I should note that I can't access it as an HD from My Computer, I'm only given a message that says "Insert a disk in station K:" In addition, Windows seem to be unable to identify any specs of the iPod, such as size etc.
So it seems like the update messed up my iPod. I have no clue on what to do.

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Error 1604
This error is often related to USB timing. Try changing USB ports, using a different dock connector to USB cable, and other available USB troubleshooting steps (troubleshooting USB connections. If you are using a dock, bypass it and connect directly to the white Apple USB dock connector cable. If the issue persists on a known-good computer, the device may need service.
If the issue is not resolved by USB isolation troubleshooting, and another computer is not available, try these steps to resolve the issue:
Connect the device to iTunes, confirm that the device is in Recovery Mode. If it's not in Recovery Mode, put it into Recovery Mode.
Restore and wait for the error.
When prompted, click OK.
Close and reopen iTunes while the device remains connected.
The device should now be recognized in Recovery Mode again.
Try to restore again.
If the steps above do not resolve the issue, try restoring using a known-good USB cable, computer, and network connection.

Hi, my iphone its in recovery mode and when i restore my iphone 5s loading show the blue screen and show note on itunes (unknown error 14) please i need your help please . thanks
In the article Resolve iOS update and restore errors this is what it says about error 14:
Check your USB connections
Related errors: 13, 14, 1600, 1601, 1602, 1603, 1604, 1611, 1643-1650, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2009, 4005, 4013, 4014, or “invalid response."
If the USB connection between your device and computer is interrupted, you may be unable to update or restore.
To narrow down the issue, you can also change up your hardware:
Use the USB cable that came with your device, or a different Apple USB cable.
Plug your cable into a different USB port directly on your computer. Don't plug it into your keyboard.
Try a different computer.
If necessary, resolve any further issues with the USB connection, then with your security software.
If you're still seeing the error message, check for hardware issues by following the next section. -
