IControl or Behringer BCF2000

I'm considering buying a controller so I don't need the mouse to adjust volumes, panning, cut off filters etc.
The iControl and the BCF2000 are both compatible with Logic Express. As I understand the iControl's faders are not motorized. Is this a big disadvantage?
As the BVF2000 costs about twice as much as the iControl I'd like to be sure what to buy...

GarageBand doesn't "send" midi at all. And I think you can only record a single midi track at a time. I am not sure if this device works with GB or not. I am not familiar with it at all. If it requires send AND receive of midi then I suspect it won't.

  • Behringer BCF2000 and Garageband?

Just picked up the Behringer BCF2000 and am having problems configuring the mixer or getting it to learn.
The M-Audio iControl is supposed to be compatible with Logic Express now, and Logic Express works with the BCF2000. So, shouldn't there be a way for Garageband to work, or does it not send independent MIDI channels?
I may be incorrect in assuming iControl works with Logic Express...might only be with Logic.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

  • Behringer BCF2000 with Lightroom 4 under Win7 x64

I picked up a used Behringer BCF2000 to provide a nice hardware interface for making LR 4 adjustments (8 faders, numerous other controllers, all programmable to Lightroom functions).
I'm running 64-bit Windows 7 and having a terrible time trying to get the BCF2000 running. After many tries, I successfully loaded the USB/MIDI drivers and even got the BCF recognized. But then it all went away and I've spent over a whole day trying to get drivers installed, update the firmware, and restore the factory defaults so I can set the unit to the correct mode for cross-communication between LR and the BCF. Meanwhile I've had numerous crashes and hours tweaking the registry and modifying the startup routine. But don't assume I'm an advanced programmer--I'm not, and I need some plain English help.
I'm looking for others who've successfully navigated this territory. If you're adept with setting up the BCF under 64-bit Win 7, please let me know and I'll formulate my questions to you at that time.
    Thanks in advance!

Sounds like a USB issue. What system type and are you using a USB 2.0 or USB 3.0 port? I did a search and found at least one post indicating an issue with USB 3.0 ports. There may also be issues with recovering from Standby or Sleep mode. Try setting your Power Management Sleep mode to 'Never' when using the BCF2000.
    http://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/bc2000/conversations/topics/3193
This driver may have corrected the issue if you're using USB 3.0:
    USB MIDI Driver
    USB MIDI DRIVER (V1.2.1.3) for BCF2000 & BCR2000 (94 KB)
    Bugfixes:
BSOD removed when device was using USB-3 mode and Logic was started
Audio was distorted in case of heavy midi traffic
    Enhancements:
in some early models of BCF2000 a switch from or to LC, BC or MC Mode causes the device to not work correctly if the user does not wait at least 7 seconds after switching off the device before switching it on again. A system message will now pop up saying : “The I/O device is configured incorrectly or the configuration parameters to the driver are incorrect.” In that case just click that box, switch off the BCF2000 wait for at least 7 seconds and switch it on again.
    The DLL was removed.

  • Anyone using a Behringer BCF2000 w/ Logic Express??

I'd sure like to get my hands on a decent control unit and the Behringer BCF2000 fits the bill and the budget. I was curious if anyone here is using this unit and could tell me how easy it is to setup in Logic.
    Thanks,
    Brad

I use the BCF2000 with Logic Express, and it works perfectly. Fortunately, since the firmware update (available on the Behringer homepage), the BCF2000 supports emulation of Logic Control, meaning you get to save yourself a lot of hassle assigning the individual knobs. Personally, I'd recommend it, since it seems to be the only control surface that offers nice features for reasonable pricing. My only problem is that the faders aren't touch-sensitive, meaning you sometimes have to fight with them if you've got automation data. Apart from that, great piece of equipment to have.
    Hope that helps,

  • MIDI Madness - Behringer BCF2000

I’m trying to get a new controller working in FCP 5. I have the Behringer DCF2000. I have read on the this site that several people are using this device with success.
The device shows up in Audio MIDI Setup and is set to port 1. I have also set it up in FCP with Control Surfaces.
Device settings are U-1 (have tried other “U” settings) for USB only and choosing P-2 as the surface setup and nothing happens, if fact the only thing that talks to FCP is P-3’s 7th knob and it only works on track one (that is not what it is mapped for) nothing else moves anything, levels or panning.
I don’t seem to be able to get it to work in STP but in Garageband every know and fader will raise and lower levels on the selected track.
Now I can set MIDI control up in Motion so there is communication go on.
BTW, I try this controller on another Mac and another controller on this Mac (PB 17” Mac OS 10.4.6 and FCP 5.1.1)
I’m up against a brick wall any suggestion?

    Hey Krautrocker )
I got one. Faders, pan, transport, solo & mute all work. What I really would like is to control my plugins, but I can't, until now. I didn't spend lots of time searching, but the majority of BC owners use it with Fruity loops & PC; there's isn't much info for Mac & DAW.
Another 'downer' are the noisy motorized faders. Maybe a good reason to save your money and buy a more expensive controller like a Euphonix or a Mackie. But for less than 200 bucks, it's worth the money. I typically use it to record fader movements, when I really want to listen, I turn the BCF off..
Setting up is pretty easy: To work with STP, the BCF should be in 'Logic -control' mode. In STP, create a new controller (protocol= Mackie). Input & output should be 'BCF-2000'. In your STP project, 'Automation mode' should be on latch or touch.

  • M-Audio i-Control with Logic 7.2 vs. Behringer BCF2000 with Logic 6

I am just about to set up Logic Pro 6 after using Cubase CE for a while. I have also been investigating control surfaces. I heard from Apple and M-Audio that Logic Pro 7.2 now supports the i-Control control surface. I am debating the benefits of upgrading to 7.2 and getting the i-Control vs sticking with 6 and buying the BCF2000.
What recommendations do you have? Do the layouts of 7.2 and the i-Control enhance each other like Garage Band and the i-control do (I have never used Garage Band). How well do Logic and the BCF2000 integrate?
Thanks for any comments or recommendations.

    Joe,
I've got the BCF2000, and got it for the primary reasons of tactile control via fader. Moterized is a cool feature. I've had it for over a year now and used it w/Logic 6.4.3, and now 7.1.1. Seeing that it lacks the LCD display (like the Logic or Mackie) which shows the parameters of the channel I bought this third pary app called LCXView that displays exactly like the LCD would, but i've since stopped using it because it started getting in the way to have Logic recognize the BCF on launch (once I jumped over to 7). The BCF needs to be booted in LC mode (Logic Control), as mine is by default.
The BCF doesn't have a shuttle control, which I would have liked. Eventually, I'll probably get a Mackie on the used market. Basically, the BCF get's the job done. Apple doesn't mention the unit in the manuals as supported, but by virtue of the fact that the BCF is in Logic Control emulation mode, it is supported.

  • Q before I buy - Does the Behringer BCF2000 work with Audition CS5.5?

Looked everywhere for an answer, so thought I'd just come out and ask.

I'm afraid that the answer is rather easy - no external controllers at all work with the present version. Not even the old Red Rover, which has worked with everything so far. This is hardly surprising though, as the automation in the way that 3.0.1 has it doesn't work at all either. The only way you can alter volume envelopes presently is by dragging them on the screen with the mouse.
It is very much to be hoped that this situation will be resolved by the time the next version comes out.

  • BCF2000 - assigning within Logic Control Mode

I am using a Behringer BCF2000 with Logic 7 Pro on a G4 powerbook. My BCF2000 is working fine in Logic Control Mode (USB Mode U-3), what I would like to do is add a few of my own parameters, mainly logic's tape delay feedback (as I make dub) to one of the dials, for example.
Also I would love to be able to trigger a few sound effects (maybe an exs patch) using an assigned button, for those on-the-fly dub vibes.
I sussed the patch editing and storing in the normal factory mode, but in Logic control mode, I can't seem to create my own patches and store them. Is this possible? and if so, how can I "learn" the functions like tape delay feedback.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks guys!

I have not been able to program mine in LC emulation
though I have been able to program the other presets.
Something I have not tried yet is trying to program the
many parameters in the controller assignments window.
I have discovered that by having the BCF in LCmode
going to the Controller Assignments window and
selecting expert and follow then clicking on
the different modes and such that the BCF
responds to what you are choosing on the screen.
I have not had the time yet to confirm this but
I believe the BCF is already preprogrammed to
do many of these in LC emulation. For example when I choose
track on screen the BCF would change its display
to "tr" and so on. This is a big discovery for me since
I new that in LCemulation the Unit was capable of
accessing all or most of what a Mackie Logic Control
unit could. I could never figure out how to get to those
parameters. This is one way to figure it out I suppose.
Behringer suggests that you read the docs for the Mackie,
I have not found this to be too helpful yet. Hope this helps.

  • Logic control/BCF2000

    hi
I'm using a Behringer BCF2000 in Logic Control emulation mode. So far almost everything is ok. There's one problem: if I shift the faderbank by one step to the next bank (that would be the next group of 8 tracks), the fader one on the BCF is controlling track 10 and not as supposed, track 9. I can change the Mixer View parameter in the setup window from 9 to 8, then it works, but as soon as i jump back one faderbank step, the parametervalue switches back to 9. How can i save the settings ? Quiting Logic and restart doesn't help?
    thanks for any help

  • E-MU 0404 USB Win 7 64bit crashes

I've got a huge issue with the soundcard in conjunction with Win 7. In 6 out of 10 times when I try to initialize the hardware (doing so by starting Ableton Live, or even simply play music with any program via this card), the pc will crash completely, forcing the OS to restart. I hear not a single sound, I just see a few stripes on my screen and then the BIOS.
I even tried reinstalling the OS, no success. The first times this happened, I got a BSOD, which told me about a problem with usbfilter.sys, so I posted my problem on Windows 7 Forums, with all the minidumps etc.
I've been told to update some of my drivers (including the one for the soundcard), and so I did - no success.
Once again - I even tried to reinstall my complete system, and with only Live, the newest drivers and updates installed - no success.

    Hi there,
I have the same issue here but with an Intel based system.
I installed the lastest USB 3.0 Driver for my Mainboard
    ASUS Z97 A
    Which offers these drivers:
    Intel USB 3.0 Driver V3.0.0.16 for Windows Win7 32bit & Win7 64bit---(WHQL). (2014/05/08)
Now my system freezes after accessing any hard drives in the explorer.
I tried USB 2 und USB 3 ports. No difference.
Is there an USB Filter fix for Intel as well? Where do i get it?

  • How to export usb controller custom assignment settings to another computer

    Hello everybody
is there any way to export Logic 9's USB controller assignments to another computer setup, to work with same controllers bought from a local music store, with even up to 7 usb controllers in one setup? This way, with a preference export file type of method, time would be saved lightyears by just choosing some "import settings file" function and *click*, every pot in those multiple controllers would do the intended function on the other system too.
    Example scenario,
computer 1)  MacBook + 7 different usb controllers wanted to by exported assignment-wise (2 x Behringer BCF2000 and 3 x BCR2000, Presonus Faderport and Novation Nocturn
computer 2)  MacBook Pro + 7 different usb controllers wanted to be exported assignment-wise (2 x Behringer BCF2000 and 3 x BCR2000, Presonus Faderport, Novation Nocturn + some other random USB controller in the chain also (wanted to be left outiside any assignment compromises)
I don't know what information of controller devices Logic saves into different files for recalling purposes, and how accurate device-identifying-wise the assignment files are, but how could I make "computer 2" controllers do the same fader/vpot/button functions as on "computer 1" using those same products over there, and still leave that existing extra eight'd controller on "computer 2" left as it is/was?
Ps. If there IS a file exportable for instant multi-controller configuring this scale, does the actual physical connecting order into USB hubs (all these devices could even by connected via single USB-hub cable into MacBook?) change the file's workability, I mean if I'd swap a few controllers into each other's places on the USB hub, would that smoke that preference file's workability whole together then?
THANKS for every reply, Really, REALLY, appreciate it

  • Can't write automation with anything but the mouse on the track

I just upgraded to logic studio and now I can't write automation. I click and drag the volume bar on the channel strip, the playback volume goes up, but the automation line does not change. In touch, latch or write modes this occurs. I noticed the problem with my behringer bcf2000, but it happens even when I disconnect the hardware and just use the mouse. The only way I can adjust the automation is to use the mouse in the horizontal track and adjust the lines. I hope there is some simple toggle I need to click to re-enable this. Can anyone help me please? I do not have this problem in logic pro 7

    Hi there!
I had the same problem, - and found the same answer, - but now I find that the "Write automation for: Volume" checkbox actually unchecks itself... I check it and forget about it but when I come back later in the process to change the volume automation I find it unchecked. This only happens to the volume checkbox though. Any ideas why?

  • Control Surfaces compatible with Premiere Pro CC

    Hello!
I am starting a new gig and I am building out a edit bay for the project.  I have only build a bay with FCP7 so I am a little hesitiant on things like peripherals.  Since Control Surfaces are new to support in Premiere please let me know what kind of experience you've all had in working with them.  I have had sucess with the Behringer BCF2000 on FCP but I've had my eye on the PreSonus FaderPort.
Can anyone lend any input or experience?
    Thanks!

    Hi Dan,
Picked up a FaderPort last Wednesday and I'm gonna return it on Monday.
Here's the story. First of all, if just going by the specs, Premiere is not supported by FaderPort.
FaderPort uses either the Mackie HUI or the Mackie Control protocol but it's defaulted to HUI so you have to switch it over yourself, a procedure that is not explained explicitly in the manual.
Once you do that the key mapping is "all weird" and I could not make any sense of it, so after two days of fighting it, I gave up and will return the thing (thank god for the 30-day free return policy in Sweden).
In essence, I would not go for the FaderPort with Premiere.
Honestly speaking, after some research, I am yet to find a control surface that explicitly states full compatibility with Premiere.
I was over on the Avid website and was looking at the Avid Artist Mix compatibility specs, Premiere is not even on the list. Audition is, but there is no functionality listing for it, unlike all the other supported DAWs.
I don't really know why no control surface I've seen explicitly supports Premiere, might be because Premiere only recently got the control surface functionality, but I think that both the surface makers and Adobe need to shape up and iron this out, because I'm not gonna mix a 90 minute dance show video using the mouse for a fader!
    Cheers, J

I do not know about 4.7 but I do have Logic Express which
I used for about 6 months before upgrading. I would think
that you will be fine if all you are doing is what you described
here. You really dont need a mixer but you might want to
look at a control surface which gives you the feel of a mixer.
I suggest the Behringer BCF2000, Only 200 and it emulates
a Logic Control. As far as interfaces you are going to find
alot of different opinions here so you should check them
all out. It comes down to how much you are willing to spend.
