ICould with 10.6.8

In looking at Apple's material for the move from Mobile Me to iCloud it is not clear to me if I can do that when on 10.6.8 with my iMac and MBP.
Is that the case? I have no desire to upgrade to 10.7 now since I still have to replace a couple of programs that will not run if I switch.

Any idea when Mobile Me bites the dust?
I've got an iPad, iPod (have not upgraded it to run like a dog with two legs tied together), MBP and iMac and I find the sync works well. I'm not, however, going to upgrade to 10.7 until the time is right. I guess I'll have to determine if there are other methods of sync'ing contacts, calendar and URL's. Any suggestions?

Just why do you want to log out?
If you delete the account on the iPod you only delete the account on the iPod. The account and information still exists in the cloud.
When you delete you are left with the option of what do do with the information like iCloud contacts that are on the iPod..

You don't need to worry about apps. You can continue to share the same ID for the iTunes and App stores but in order to create a new iCloud account you will need to use a different ID (it doesn't need to be the same as your iTunes ID).
To migrate your phone to your own account, if you have any photos in photo stream that you want to save on your phone, open your my photo stream album and save them to the camera roll by tapping Edit, then tap all the photos you want to save, tap Share and tap Save to Camera Roll.
Once this is done, go to Settings>iCloud, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account. (This will only delete the account from this phone, not from iCloud. Your sister's phone will not be effected by this.) When prompted about what to do with the iCloud data, be sure to select Keep On My iPhone. Next, set up your new iCloud account using a different Apple ID (if you don't have one, tap Get a Free Apple ID at the bottom). Then turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On, and when prompted about merging with iCloud, choose Merge. This will upload the data to the new account.
Once your phone is on its own account, you can go to icloud.com on your computer, sign into your account and manually delete any of your sister's data from your account. She can also delete any of your data from her account.

Foreign contacts in my iPhone

I have hundreds of foreign contacts in my iPhone that I did not enter. Could my phone be syncing over iCould with someone else's account?
1) How can I get rid of the contacts without having to delete one by one, while still maintaining my real contacts (the ones that are SUPPOSED to be in my phone)?
2) How can I prevent this problem from happening again?

What does that mean?
If you didn't backup your phone, or sync contacts with an app on your computer or cloud service as instructed in the User Guide, there's no way to recover them

Mobile me to icloud on macbook 10.6.8

i only find mobile me icon in preference macbook 10.6.8 and mobile me navigates me to the page in apple site to say it is closed.. how can i use icould with my macbook ???

The minimum requirement for iCloud is Lion 10.7.2 (Mountain Lion preferred): the iCloud Preference Pane does not appear on earlier systems. MobileMe closed last summer and if you had an account you should have migrated it to iCloud before 1 August.
If you did that, you can set Snow Leopard up to access the email on it, and you may be able to sync iCal using an unsupported (and possibly unreliable) hack, but no other facilities will work; and it you did not migrate you cannot open an iCloud account on Snow Leopard.

To make proper use of iCloud you will have to upgrade your Mac to Leopard or Snow Leopard, provided it meets the requirements.

Missing photos after IOS7 upgrade

I've upgraded my iPhone to IOS7 and was only able to recover my streams and some shared streams. I had several albums with more than 500 photos that have not been restored from Icloud. Any idea ? I tried already to reinitialise my settings and to do a complete restore from Icloud, but without any success. I've an iPad that is still running IOS 6, that is synchronised on iCould with the same account and that exposes all the pictures. I dan't want to upgrade it for th etime being, until I'll be sure to keep all my photos.

iCloud does not backup all of your photos. Only photos of your camera roll (that doesn't include albums) are backed up and the last 1000 photos of your photostream are stored temporarily.

I also wonder what the best way is to set up accounts for children in a family. I dont want them to be able to purchase apps etc through the parents accounts, also some things we like to share as a family and others we don't want to share. Is there any good. clear, simple explanation from Apple Support about these issues? Or best to go to Apple store and go to genius bar or one to one advise?

You can set up an iCloud account which makes the iCloud email address you choose the Apple ID and thus the login for it:

though I have to say I think it's more sensible if the ID is another address, both for security reasons (so people don't know what the login is) and as a contact address from Apple if the account were to stop working and they needed to contact you. So personally I would to to System Preferences, enter the GMail address which is an ID, and then choose a nerw @icloud.com address.
If she has her own iCloud account she will need either her own computer or her own user account on your Mac to be able to make use of it. You should note that under Apple's terms of use Apple IDs are only available to children of 13 and over.
As to purchasing apps, this is nothing to do with iCloud: it's iTunes, and the login can be different. So you can all sign into the same iTunes account but have different iCloud accounts. Or she can have her own iTunes account if she is of suitable age (credit card needed for purchasing apps).
If you have other children you should be aware that any one Mac or device can create only three iCloud accounts - this is tied to the serial number, not the user account, and once reached cannot be bypassed. You can of course sign into an iCloud account created on another device.

I had two iCloud account - one on my iPad set up with Me.com. Its a long story as to why I had two account which I will not the issue. I changed my iPad account to link up with my MacBook Pro account - which is my primary account. After doing this all seemed OK except I could not get y primary iClould email account set. When I tried to add my primary iClound email account it only allows you to add a NEW iClould account which is not what I want.
How do I correct this issue? Thanks.

Thanks Winston but your solution did not work. In my iCould account everything works except Mail - that being contacts, calendar, reminders, etc. When it comes to mail it is currently OFF. When I turn it ON, it states that I need to create a NEW free iClound account, and allowing me to establish my existing account.
When I tried your solution, it stated that the account already exists but in reality it is not on my iPad.
Any more thoughts?

I need assists with trying to set up my mail account on my desk top with the new Icould. I use to have moble me and have transfered everything but my mail on my desktop will not link up. Ipad and Iphone both work but not getting anything through my computer.

Another user just has a similar issue tonight and I advised him to go to the below Apple support link to see if the password was recognized there, which eventually resolved his username/passowrd issue. Give it a try and see if it works.

They can all share your iMessages, just make sure the settings on each device are set to send and receive from the same numbers and addresses.

Bought an Iphone online but when im trying to activate the phone it come up with the icould sign in I have asked the lady for the icould details but she won't send it! what should I do?

Go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change. Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address. You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud). Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was. Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

Travelling in Mauritania, cannot log into icloud with my PC netbook. I can read my mail on my iphone, but I get a message that "icould is not available" when I try to open it on the PC. It's very annoying as it's not so easy to type on iphone!

I have a PC netbook that I use when I travel, and here in Mauritania, when I try to log on icloud to check my mail, it tells me that it is not available or the server is down - the internet is working for everything else. I can read my mail on my iphone, connected to the same network. Is there some reason ou can't open icloud on an iphone and a pc at the same time?

Been looking for similar posts, surprised I haven't found more, because I'm fairly certain that there is a current problem with some parts of Apple's server network: I have 3 iCloud accounts in Mail on my Macbook, and 1 of them (annoyingly, my main one) has not been able to connect for an hour or two. And both of the others wouldn't connect for a few minutes, but are now working again.
More suprising is that trying to log in to webmail (www.icloud.com) is giving a very unhelpful error message, suggesting the server is down. Everything else Internet is working fine for me, and haven't changed any settings, so fairly sure problem is Apple's end.
It's possible that your iPhone is collecting your mail via a different server route that is still working; my three iCloud accounts are collecting via p02.imap.mail.me.com, p09.imap.mail.me.com and p99.imap.mail.me.com, and it's only p02 that's consistantly not working.

Notes no longer syncs with icould

Since upgrading to Mavericks the Notes on my application no longer synchs with the web-based iCloud site. It also creates multiple copies of files when I make a new note. (Notes on my iPad Mini continues to work as normal, synching automatically with the iCloud web site, but no longer with my laptop.)

I solved this. The problem was that I was signing into icloud with two different apple id's.
