Icq problem on 8830

I installed icq on my 8830 but when i try to sign in it gives me a message "service not enabled for this handheld". I talked to Sprint tech support but they are of no use. Can anyone please help? Thanks.

Assuming you got your ICQ client from the BlackBerry site, it requires service books from your carrier - specifically the ICQ-BBIM[BBIM] service book. If your carrier supports it, they can push it down to you, although it should automatically be pulled down when you install / first run the application.
It requires a BlackBerry Data Plan too!

I am able to sync my 8830 with my Infiniti, but the next time I go into the car, it does not automatically find the phone. The phone shows that the Bluetooth is enabled. Problems with ICQ Nokia Lumia 720

There's a problem with ICQ on Nokia Lumia 720. The fact is that being minimized (not closed) it loses connection, after maximizing it, you have to launch the program again. Who faced this problem, did ya find any decision?

Ask the developer of the app. It is not part of the OS nor is it a Nokia developed app.

BB 8830 syncing problem with Outlook 2007 after Google calendar

I have a BB 8830 WE that was working fien with Outlook 2007. I recently started syncing with Google calendar and I believe since then I get an error message everytime I am syncing with Oultook 2007: it works fine when it is scrolling through teh contacts but when it reaches calendar items it stops and gives me an error message: BlackBerry Desktop Manager has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
I tried to repair Outlook 2007 as recommended by Google Calendar but it has not worked.
I woudl appreciat eany help or suggestions.

BB 8830 WE syncing problem

Hi
I am having a problem with my BB 8830 World edition. Recently I have started having a problem with synchronizing. Everytime it starts to synchronize, it stops at the same item in Calendar and gives me this message:
BlackBerry Desktop Manager has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
Any ideas on how to get rid of this problem and resume syncing would be appreciated.

It sounds like there is a corrupt calendar item causing this. Perhaps Advanced Logging will help you identify the culprit record:

Problems with Deleting Confirmation Messages on a 8830 device

I am new to this forum but have a technical issue on a blackberry 8830 device with deleting confirmation messages.
Scenario:
User is replying to users with a confirmation of message read reciept from the blackberry. It copies the reciept in both his exchange account and his blackberry device. He can delete the confirmation of the reciept as usual but here lies the problem when he deletes it on either the blackberry or the exchange account side it won't reconcile it even though the reconcile is setup for both handheld and wireless and wireless email reconcile is turned on. He also has the desktop manager software running on his pc and its still not correcting it.
The BES server is on release 4.0.6.12 with a Microsoft 2000 Exchange Server (I'm thinking this is my issue but don't have any supporting evidence to support it).
Can someone please provide some insight as to what the problem might be in this scenario.

8830 GPS problems, phone issues

HELP! My 8830 resets the gps location feature to off automatically. Then when I go to use Sprint Telenav it won't connect to GPS. After resetting GPS location to "on", it will sometimes work, but seems to lose GPS signal awfully easy.
Another problem is that the unit will freeze up. I got my emails and voice mail four hours late last night. The browser wouldn't work, and I had to power down, remove the battery and restart to get things working again.
This past weekend, I didn't get my voice mail notification until sometime on Monday. It seems that the unit was in the "freeze up" state for quite some time. Funny, it WILL still make and receive calls in this frozen condition. Phone works fine!
When it works, it is a great tool. I am just concerned about these issues. I have 14 days left to return it and I want to be sure it is worth keeping. With the current hassels, it really isn't worth it! Have also sent a help request to Sprint Customer no-support.
Any help greatly appreciated.

I have an 8830 and it is a great phone. I've had no issues with the GPS. I do wish it had more memory, but when is that not true?

8830 World Edition Address Book Problems

I have an 8830 World Edition from Verizon...
Now I know they have their own software on the phone, and I'VE UPDATED it as of 2 days ago.
When I put a new contact in my phone, my phone completely freezes and I have to shut off my phone and turn it back on to get it working again. When the phone freezes, the little hourglass shows up at random, and that's it. Once I turn my phone back on, my new contact is saved though. This is a very irritating problem. Any ideas of how to fix the address book? Please help me. Thank you all very much!

Updating 8830 problem

Have an 8830 and have just tried to do a software update. Download all goes fine. Then when I double click the executable, I get the message "Error reading setup initialization file." This is the first update I've performed (I think) on my new computer which has Vista. Any help would be most appreciated. Thank you.

That is the latest OS release from Verizon for the 8830,and is the latest version released by ANY carrier, including Sprint and others.

8830 browser problems

Hi forum-readers!
I've just upgraded from an 8703 to the 8830 and while I LOVE my sleek new phone, I'm having some issues.
Application icons on my desktop keep appearing and disappearing. for a few hours I did have the "manage email" icon, but it's nowhere to be found now (yes, I've ensure no icons are hiding and am in "show all" mode).
Most importantly, I don't appear to have a "mobile" browser - only a full internet browser. Everytime I try and visit mobile.blackberry.com I get the non-mobile website that says "The Blackberry HELP! website is designed for use with the BlackBerry browser. Learn more about BlackBerry here." which links to the regular non-mobile homepage.
This is true for *almost* all mobile sites I visit - although some will actually load the mobile sites. They either tell me I can't view them because I'm not on a mobile device, or they redirect me to the normal non-mobile website.
On my Blackberry desktop, I only have the one browser link which is just called "Browser". In Options -> Advanced -> Browser, the Default Browser configuration and Default WAP Browser configuration is "Telus WAP Browser" (I'm with Telus), and there are no other options for me to choose from in either category.
Please help!
Further, I was under the impression the 8830 could play youtube videos and other streaming media, and while I can view the youtube mobile site, the media player - after hanging for about a minute - shows an error that says "An error has occurred attempting to play media".
I'm on an unlimited data plan, and didn't have any trouble viewing mobile sites on my old 8703 with the same wireless provider.

Am I missing something? I have a Verizon 8830 and I am having trouble installing a Java Software appliction. Is there a place to turn on/off Java Software support and/or download an app to support Java Software or do Verizon phones not support Java software? Thanks in advance for your help.

8830 Verizon Wireless E-mail problem

Had to do a hard reset on my 8830 Verizon Wireless device. Can't set up e-mail to send. Message says: "No message services configured. You will only be able to Save Draft."

If you go into your Email Settings,
Go into Services..
Click on Send Service Books.
That should do it! (That's what ended up resolving my issue, after talking to Tech Support at verizon)

8830 problem with dropping emails

When opening the email icon my BB 8830, it occasionally shows the list of received emails briefly (less than 1 second) then erases all the emails in the Inbox. I have done the soft reset to no avail and there seems to be no pattern as to when it does this. Any ideas? Thank you.

Thank you fro your answer, but i try to make a short audio 30 sec. spot. The media for this spot is not very big. The transfer of system disk is 50 mb/s do you think if we put another disk will help?

8830 & Problem with opening FB messages

My problem isn't with the app itself. I am having problems when someone sends me a message through FB. When I try to opening,   I get the following:
uncaught exception: java.lang.NullPointersException
Just started on Monday. Searching here said it was a problem with an update for yahoo messenger, so I deleted messenger and still have the problem.

Are these messages coming into the actual Facebook application, or are they email notifications?

Blackberry 8830 is having problems

i got this old blackberry from my grandpa because it was in great shape. i got it hooked up and everything was great, two weeks after i updated the phone using the blackberry software, and now i am getting all these problems. normaly they go away in a few hours but how its been almost 24 house and i can't get into my phone because some of my buttons are going between working and not. the last time this happened i couldn't unlock my phone because the B button was showing as TR. and when the A button this time starts working it also enters it and it says wrong password. help plz! is there a way to take the software off without getting into the phone? i am getting really mad.
