ICS/Email?

For those that have finally gotten ICS.............did it cure the email woes of Hotmail and Yahoo Mail?  Any other "ills" that it fixed?  Thanks in advance.

Don't use anything but Gmail and corporate Exchange so nothing new there(other than updated versions) Haven't noticed any other bug fixes. Still having network connection dropouts. Phone gets a little slow at times. Recent app menu is cool but slow. Face unlock is slow and whoefully inaccurate.
All in all though I like it, kinks will be worked out

  • Iphone 4s on ios7 will not open or save ics email attachment

My iphone 4s on ios7 will not open or save ics email attachments so I can update my calendar. I have to open them on my PC and then iCloud will sync my updated calendar across all my devices with no problem. However, when I don't have access to my PC I would like to be able to open the ics calendar item (or save it) on my iPhone so I can see what meeting or conference I have been invited to so I can reply promptly and keep my calendar up to date without needing to wait till I have access to my PC.

The exact same thing described above is happening me too and by the looks of this and other forums, its happening alot of people.
I have tried restoring from new and a DFU restore and nothing works.
Think Apple need to own up that this is a real flaw with the iPhone 4 and offer a repair or recall.

  • Can I get iCal to respond to Google Calendar invitations?

Ever since MobileMe forced everyone to switch to the new CalDAV calendars, iCal.app stopped responding to iCalendar (ICS) invitations that I receive via email from Google Calendar users. Here's what's happening:
I receive a Google Calendar email, open it in Mail.app, and double-click on the ICS email file attachment.
Mail passes the ICS to iCal.app, which automatically creates a new calendar entry. However, the only choice I have for the new even under the "NOTIFICATIONS" side pane in iCal is an "OK" button. (Prior to the MobileMe Calendar update, I could accept or decline a meeting from the Notifications pane.)
I can open the meeting in iCal to reveal "Maybe", "Decline", and "Accept" buttons, but—for example—choosing the Accept button doesn't send an iCalendar email response back to the meeting organizer. The fact that I just accepted the event is also not reflected in iCal. Furthermore, iCal doesn't let me edit or add a new alarm to the event.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions for how to restore the old behavior!
P.S. Here are links to two other calendaring issues that cropped up since the MobileMe change:
How do I set the meeting organizer email address for the new CalDAV calendar?
Can I get Google to recognize my iCal invitations?

I have the same problem and it is not limited to Google Calendar invitations. Very frustrating! I can't find a solution anywhere other than replying to the invite message manually ... very poor workaround.

  • S60 3rd calender (E90) and iCalendar format attach...

    Hello all,
I've used 9300 for several years and have now switched to E90.
I work with multiple customers and use multiple MS Outlook calendars on customer sites.
My master calendar has been the calendar on my 9300 phone.
As I'm not allowed to install PC Suite on customer desktops I've used Outlook iCalender format emails (.ics) to sync my 9300 calendar.
You were able to open the .ics email attachments on 9300 and get the calendar events added to phone calendar.
Unfortunately E90 mail/calendar software doest not support .ics attachments. This is very annoying as I now have to insert calendar events manually on E90.
Has anybody found any kind of workaround for this?
Maybe a better 3rd party calendar on E90?
Of course the best solution would be adding .ics support to E90. Mr Nokia listening?

    Dear Arto,
I have the same problem. I bought E90 just to add by email my calendar appointments and it does not work.
If you found a solution, i will be very glad if you advise me.

  • WorkFlow Issues: Appending (not replace) Attendee Field in Calendar List and Email Variables (including .ICS file link)

Kind of new to attempting any custom development in SharePoint.  Working with 2013 and have the 2013 Workflow Farm setup/working.  I am trying to have a calendar that users can register to appointments via custom list.  I
have the list that pulls the title into its  own "Event" field as a lookup.  Also have a workflow on the calendar that adds the current user as an attendee and made that field "not required".  I'm trying to accomplish this:
    1) Have the Custom List update the Calendar list attendee field with the username. Currently it wipes out what is there and replaces with the "Created By" name. Tried to set a variable that would put the current attendees in a string
and just add the current user, then use that variable to update the attendee field.  No luck.  Ultimately if I can understand this enough and get fancy enough, I'd setup a workflow  that can have someone delete their own registration item in
the custom list and remove only their own name from Attendees...
    2)  Have a workflow kick off an email that sends the registrant the calendar details. Have tried to pipe in variables to get the ICS file (some variation of this )
If I put the List ID in brackets I get an error about having that and variables in the same code for an email workflow.  In any event I can't really get the email workflow to give any kind of nice piped in values the best looked like this and had
the wrong date: You registered for  {"results":[{"Id":22,"Value":"Test Event 8"}]} on 1/1/0001 12:00:00 AM

    Hi Jason,
seems your requirement a bit complex, we forum team may have limited resource regarding this issue.
you may consider to use infopath for example from this 3rd party article:
    http://www.bizsupportonline.net/infopath2007/programmatically-add-item-sharepoint-calendar-infopath.htm
    or for general example:
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-001/infopath-help/customize-a-sharepoint-list-form-HA101821257.aspx
the article is to add an item to your calendar list, so then you may need to do wipe or other procedures, by infopath you may add the data as
    you need.
if should infopath feature may not be possible to use in your environment, i may need to suggest you to open an advisory case to us, by contacting our representative,

  • How can I receive calendar notification instead of .ics mail attachmentes? Have already delete my apple id as alternate email on another id. Thanks very much

Well, I´m unable to receive calendar notifications after my father bought a new iphone and I put my appleid email as alternative email in his account just to revover his password in case of. I just receive emails with .ics attached.
I have tried anything, as deleting the alternate email adress on my father´s appleid, and still recieve the .ics attachments and no notifications. Furthermore, if I don´t download the .ics it won´t appear on my calendar.
Thank you very much in advance

You may need to enable in-app notifications in you iCloud calendar preferences on icloud.com.  See http://help.apple.com/icloud/#mma527d46.

  • Outlook 2013 crashes when adding an event using an emailed ics file.

I use Outlook 2013, Hotmail and an Android phone to manage my calendar, with Outlook 2013 and Android synching to the Outlook.com account.
    Scenario 1:
    1. Receive meeting requests with attached ics files from an Apple Mac user
    2. Drag ics file attachment to the Outlook calendar
    3. "Meeting" window opens
    4. Click "Accept" then "Send Response Now" OR "Do Not Send a Response"
OR "Edit the Response Before Sending" then "Send"
    5. Outlook crashes (see event log below) and restarts
    6. On restart the meeting request has been added to the Outlook calendar
    7. Meeting is not in the Outlook.com calendar
    8. Meeting organiser does not receive email response

    2. Double click on the ics file
    3. Error message "The attempted operation failed. An object could not be found"
    Observations:
Re-creating the Hotmail account OST file makes no difference.
    The workaround described here:

requires approximately 15 clicks, instead of two or three, so isn't workable for large numbers of meeting requests.
Meeting requests can be added to the local pst file calendar successfully.  This calendar is not used because it doesn't allow synching with other devices.
    System configuration:
Windows 8.1 - Most recent Windows Update check: "No updates are available"

ISP email address is connected using IMAP/SMTP
Outlook.com / hotmail account is connected using EAS

Sorry for the delay. I was supposed to get alerts on this, but I never did. N2K has been built and rebuilt, and still the error comes up. For one Exchange user that's in the N2K file, I can look at it now, and it matches up with others on the same server.
But 2-3 days from now, it will somehow be changed to“/o=First Organization/ou=First Administrative Group/cn=Recipients/cn=user” and that starts Outlook crashing again. The error happened for several months, and during this time the user was moved to a new
Exchange server. A new profile was created after the move, but the problem followed him.
I removed the offending user again today. The entry in n2K is getting changed to “/o=First Organization/ou=First Administrative Group/cn=Recipients/cn=user”. I found that is is a legacyExchange issue, but I don't know from where it's being changed -
on the user who's Outlook is crashing, on the user sending the email, or on the AD server. I am not an Exchange expert, so reading a few websites that point out what this is didn't really help me figure out how to remove the legacyExchange problem. The customer
is using hosted Exchange, so I can't get onto the server to dig into it. Is it in the Global Address Book, or a user's individual contact?
I ran OffCAT and it pointed out two addins that had Resiliancy set. They were both Outlook Addins, DPOfcX.ComposeRibbon and OutlookChangeNotifier.Connect. So I hope they aren't the issue.

  • How do i automatically import ics calendar invitations from email into apple calendar?

how do i automatically import ics calendar invitations (sent from Windows computer - Outlook) from email into apple calendar?

From Calendar Help. The only two ways listed are using the Import command or a drag and drop.
    Import events into a calendar
If you want, create a new calendar for the events.Add or delete a calendar
Choose File > Import > Import.
Locate and select the calendar file that contains the events, and then click Import.
Choose the calendar you created or another calendar to add the events to.
You can also drag a .ics file to Calendar. The events in the file are added to the calendar that’s highlighted in the Calendar list.
You might be able to set up and Automator action to do it for you.

  • When I add a *.ics calendar item via email on my iPhone it shows in my calendar on my iPhone but it does not show in my calendar on my iPad. Why?

I am using icloud and family share but when I receive an email with a *.ics calendar file and add it to my calendar on one of my devices it does not show on the calendar of the other devices. Same happens if I e.g. add my flight details to my calendar via the KLM app. The details show in the calendar of the device where I did it, but not in the others.
But if I add a new calendar entry on one of my devices it immediately shows on all my other devices.

If you are talking Photostream remember that Photostream does not transfer existing photos on your device it only transfers new photos added to the camera Roll by taking or saving them. Also note that photos aren't added to Photostream until after the Camera app is no longer in use. Furthermore Photostream is not a backup media. It only saves up to 1000 photos and only for 30 days.
If you are talking about camera roll photos saved in an iCloud backup then there is no way to view these. They are for backup purposes only.

  • ICS upgrade deleted all email and 1 of 4 email accounts

Upgraded to ICS and ALL emails were deleted and 1 account.
Reentered the deleted account and revalidated the others and was at least able to retrieve the emails that were still on my server.
    BE WARNED!

That's true for IMAP accounts but these are POP accounts. I have all servers set to delete after 14 days and the emails I retrieved were 14 days old or less. I can verify this through webmail.
Prior to the upgrade I had some emails dating back to March.  These were definitely not on the servers.
While I still have copies on the office computer and backups it would have been nice to be warned if this is normal for the upgrade.

  • Accepting appointments (.ics) from EMAIL

I am using microsoft exchange server setup for my email. The problem is with the ics file which i get as email attachment. The phone seems to recognize the ics file and i can click on them in the email but it takes me to a blank screen. I am running 3.1.2 OS.
What am I possibly doing wrong and how can I make this work as I think it should?
    Thanks,
    Bhavik

Is this still the case? Why will Apple not allow the full use of their own software - iCal on the iPhone by allowing us to accept appointments, its so mundane having to sync on my mac just to accpet all the appointments just for them to show up on my iPhone I've even got mobileme and that makes no difference

  • The ICS update deleted my work emails!!!! Seriously Verizon?!?

After I got the ICS this morning my email folders were completely empty, every single one.
Other than Messaging, please tell me there is some hidden folder where the stock email app may have stored my messages. I've been through every visible folder and there is nothing there. Or, tell me if there's a way to back out of the update - data and everything.
Here's the story: Because my company uses POP3 email, my phone was set to 'Never Delete email from server.' That way I could still get all of my emails in Outlook on my computer -- where they actually matter. As of last night, I know I had several emails in my phone's Inbox and Sent folders, and one in the Draft folder. Like I said, this morning they are all gone...but there's more. For some reason the geniuses altered some of incoming/outgoing POP3 email settings to default. e.g., The outgoing SMTP port was changed to 25 (our partner ISP blocks it so I can't use it); and, 'Never Delete email from server' was changed to 'Delete email from server when I delete from my Inbox. (For the life of me I can't figure out why those two settings changed but my server, username, and password were all left intact?!) Consequently, the deletion of emails from my phone has caused them to also be deleted them from the POP3 mail server. Does that mean that all of the that emails I synced to my phone over the last five days (that have NOT been synced to my computer, btw, because I am on vacation) are gone FOREVER?!?
I am now well beyond frustrated. This is the second time in as many days that Verizon has $@%& something critical - first, it was my FIOS service and condescending customer service. Now this.   Between residential and wireless I pay Verizon a ridiculous amount of money each month, more than my combined power & gas utility bills. I'm thinking that the cancellation fees are PENNIES in comparison to the satisfaction I'd feel about not giving Verizon any more of my money.

My apologies to the moderator for cross-posting. I had written a very long post to another discussion that included similar problems, and in my haste and search for answers thought it expedient to simply copy the post over in hopes of getting a wider range of opinion. No, I never read the Terms of Service and to be honest this is the first discussion board I have ever posted to. That's what happens when you'e 65 years old. I did, however, write right up front that this was a copy of a post I had placed elsewhere.
When I saw the first message from the moderator that my post was up for review, I was impressed -- I thought someone was listening, had noted I defined some problems and was searching for answers. Perhaps I misunderstood the nature of a moderator.
So I am still looking for answers.
Let me re-state (not copy) the nature of my problems, so that my remaining post (above) is not left hanging in mid-air confusion. The Bionic update deleted a bunch of my emails, specifically all the SENTS from my Earthlink (POP) account; and the DISPLAY SUGGESTED ADDRESSES feature was not working, apparently (though I'm not sure) because it had also deleted all the addresses/contacts. I am still facing having to re-enter over 200 email addresses by hand. Surely there is a simpler solution out there? Switching to gmail is not an option, though I did start an account in order to get the Bionic up and running; however I never use it for emails.

  • Email Notification Glitch || Motorola Droid 4; v.4.0.4 ICS || ongoing as of 17 January 2013

For the past  past week or so my Droid 4 has been repeatedly and continually (non-stop!) providing "new" Email notifications when I have none whatsoever, or only one new mail. The notification I receive is that I have hundreds of new mails when either one or no new mails have delivered to my mail account (for reference, hundreds of notifications per hour). Not only that, but when I open the new mails I cannot access the contents of the mail I have received, and there are always at least three to five duplicates of each "new" mail, sometimes more.
I have researched this issue via Google Search: Droid4, ICS and Android help communities and sites and now on this forum. I have attempted to troubleshoot to rectify the issue by disabling my Email notifications, powering down the device, powering-up again, then re-enabling my Email notifications, all to no avail. If I receive no resolution here @VerizonWireless Community, my next course of action will be to enter the same information and request for assistance w/Motorola.
In my research on this topic I did find the Motorola Droid 4; v.4.0.4 ICS rollout documentation, which was no help to me for this particular issue, but from which I did learn some neat things about that software version which I'd not previously known and which were helpful to me in other ways. That file is linked below as well as the attached .pdf file in hopes that it might be of help to others.
I would most certainly appreciate any and all help and/or suggestions from anyone here at the Verizon Community.
Thanks so much and kindest regards,

  • Can't use ICS files in email

One of my pet peeved about the iPad / iPhone calendar is the fact that you cannot accept invitations sent from iCal. The attached ICS files in email messages, if clicked, return "Mail can't read this attachment" even though the iPad User Guide specifically says you can do this, IF you're subscribed to an Exchange Server account. So, in other words, Apple's iPad Mail and Calendar apps support MICROSOFT's calendaring application, but not APPLE's own system. How does this make sense?
Since this issue isn't resolved in iOS 4.1 on my iPhones, I have to assume it won't be resolved in the now-delayed 4.2 iPhone + iPad update either, though I suppose I can hope. For dog's sake, let's get this oversight cleared up as soon as possible.
And yes, as many others have said, we should be able to swipe to change calendar pages on the iPad. I can't believe Apple's own app neglected this most basic iPad functionality.

    IOS 4.2 is not delayed.
Only time frame announced by Apple was November.
    It is still November.
This is a user to user forum, Apple is not here-why are you whining to us about this?

  • Corporate Email Issues after upgrade to ICS

I cant see any emails in my Inbox folder. I already delete the account and set it up again but still no inbox messages.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

Probably a dumb statement/question - did you do inbox recycle (the little curved arrows thingy). Mine was empty prior to ICS but when I checked and hit refresh, they all refreshed and I had e-mail in two accounts.
The only e-mail I have that auto checks the inbox is g-mail. My e-mail (used to check the junk mail) folder only updates when I check it and that's fine with me. I don't need to be informed every time junk comes in the mail.
Oh, and one more thing. Are you using Facebook? I've seen some strange traffic about Facebook messing up e-mail accounts (changing e-mails to [email protected]) and changing peoples contacts lists. They aren't very specific about the OS (ios or droid) that's getting messed up.
