ID CS2 - is there a "background printing" function like in Quark?
I switched to InDesign CS2 a couple years ago after 16 years of Pagemaker and QuarkXPress. I really like it but I was wondering if there is a "background printing" function in InDesign like the one in Quark. If I print a file with more than a couple pages, I have to wait while it spools to a physical print server, which means I have to wait until it finishes spooling (which is almost as long as it takes to print the entire file because it starts printing almost as soon as the page is written to the server-does that make sense?) before I can do anything else in InDesign. That was one of the only things I liked about Quark: the fact that I could send a multi-page document to a printer but almost immediately begin working again because it would print in the background.

Check out the Edit:Cut/Insert Time functions. I think that the "Splice" option will do what you want. Generally, the automation is copied/moved as needed.

AcroPDF ActiveX print functions are not working with Adobe Reader 9.2 / Actobat Reader 9.3
AcroPDF ActiveX print functions are not working with Reader 9.2/9.3. Tried ActiveX print functions like printPages(), printAll(), printWithDialog(), none of them is working. Tried on platforms: XP 32 bit and Win7 32 bit. These print functions all work fine with Adobe Reader 9.1.0. or 8.2.0 or 8.1.0 on XP 32 bit or Win7 32 bit.
The way I have my setup: I have created a C/C++ project with AcroPDF MFC ActiveX classes. I have created an AcroPDF object in there, and then calling it's LoadFile() function passing a pdf file in the parameter. Then calling the printPages() or printAll() function. With Adobe Reader 9.1.0. or 8.2.0 or 8.1.0, printing is starting through the default printer without any problem. As soon as I update the reader version to 9.2 or more, the same code stops working.
Is anybody noticing any similar issue? Any info on this will be highly appreciated. Thank you!Unfortunately printWithDialog() is also not working. Actually none of the print functions like Print(), printWithDialog(), printPages(), printPagesFit(), printAll(), printAllFit() are working. All of them works fine though with older reader.
BTW, what security related changes are there for printPages() and printAll()? Can you please elaborate on that? Is there any workaround? -
Is there a page down function for the front panel?
I have a front panel on two monitor pages. Is there a function which shows the second page when I press a button on the first page and then switches back to the first page when a loop starts over again? Is there additionally a print function which prints then only the second front panel?
Thank you very much for answering these questions.Are these two separate VIs ? If so, then you can open a VI reference, then use it an Invoke Node to modify the properties for the Open FP method. This would allow you to hide, minimize, or unhide the VI.

it also brings up a Printer dialog box, with options which printer to use,
landscape, potriat, etc.
now i have 1 problem.
with 1 table it print every thing fine.
i also got another table that only print the 1st column.
I dunno y it's doing this, i'm doing the same thing with the other table.
does any1 have a clue y it might be doing this?

The PrintMode is wet by default to cut n fit on the page.
there's another optional where it print everything even if it has to fit it on another page.

I have upgraded my iMac to Yosemite but now my two Canon Printers no longer print from Photoshop CS6. I have upgraded the drivers. All other applications including Lightroom are fine. I am receiving an error message as follows:"There was an error opening your printer. Printing functions will not be available until you have selected a printer and reopened any documents." How can I get the OS to return a list of printers to Photoshop when Photoshop requests a list.

Printing from PS CC worked fine today. I made no changes to preferences. In between working with 2 projects, the first one printed fine, the second gave me this Error Message.
There was an error opening your printer. Printing functions will not be available until you have selected a printer and reopened any documents.
Now I've checked for updates for my printer, reset my printer, reset PS CC preferences, picked my printer as Default and Last Used, and rebooted. I've followed all the recommended fixes for this issue I could find here and on the internet. I can print fine from any other program. Alas, the error message keeps popping up and I can't print.
PS CC is up to date
Running OS 10.10.2
HP Printer updated

PROBLEM: Cannot print from Photoshop
After restart error message appears:

• All print commands are greyed out and unavailable — even to call up the printer commands cannot be done.
The printer printed fine until about 2 weeks ago when this error message appeared. Printing continues from Pages, I-photo, preview etc. — only Photoshop fails.
The printer has been turned on and off, as have open documents been closed and open etc.. Preferences reset. Repeatedly I have read through blogs and forums and attempted to contact Adobe — all without results
Epson support struggled to find reason and several solutions were tried and they assume this is an Adobe problem.
Running Mac Powerbook X 10.10.2 / Photoshop CS6 13.0.6.x64

I've never had this problem before. It only affects Photoshop CS6 and CS5 that I have installed. I'm running MAC OS 10.9.5
I have three printers and HP and two Epsons, and I get this dialogue when trying to print from Photoshop CS6 or CS5.
There was an error opening your printer. Printing functions will not be available until you have selected a printer and reopened any documents.
Other applications print fine on all three printers. I tried deleting the Photoshop Prefs numerous times without results.
Does anyone have an answer for this?

Using Photoshop CS6 and after printing approx. 10 cards on an Epson R3000 printer the program gives me a dialog box saying "There was an error opening your printer. Printing functions will not be available until you have selected a printer and reopened any documents." Even after closing and reopening the program, the print command is greyed out so I cannot select any printer. This also happens with a Brother laser printer. Both printers will produce a test page out side of the Adobe product. Help!
I cannot get any help either. I get the message "There was an error opening your printer. Printing functions will not be available until you have selected a printer and reopened any documents." I have reinstalled all drivers, powered off/on all printers (2 of them - a Brother HL - 4040cn and an Epson Stylus Pro 7890 - which all worked fine until this morning). There appears to be no path to a solution. I have read all the forums and tried about 20 different suggestions all to no avail. Reboots, changing cables, reinstalling printers and drivers and Photoshop CS6 - ALL TO NO AVAIL. On a macbook pro retina with 10.10.3. This issue is out there and some get solutions - but not all - that's my crowd...the not all crowd. I have yet to be able to print from CS6 any more. This is a show stopper and my patience is wearing thin. And I'm tired of stupid questions like "is your printer powered on?" give me a break. This appears to be an adobe photoshop cs6 problem - as I can print from every other application. Anyone have any ideas? Adobe should have something?... Adobe system info below:

Customer is asking Is there any built in function that prints numbers in words in an rtf teamplate using xml publisher?
For example if the net amount is 100 dollars then it should print "ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS AND ZERO CENTS ONLY"

LeoI do not know of any function available that lets you print the currency words (dollars, cents etc). Here is a link to a blog post that will allow you to print numbers in words.

i need to supress the POP-UP which asks for background Print Parameters in the ALV report. when i press F9 in a selection - screen of a Tcode
as we supress Pop-up for a smartform or script by passing the Print Parameters
This 'RS_SET_SELSCREEN_STATUS' excludes the commands(say F9 function code) in report
I think we need to set the Print paramters in the Program
