ID tag changing using iTunes

Greetings, all - Still not sure about the ID Tag thing.
I know if I'm looking at my iTunes library, I can select a song or group of songs and use "Get Info" to change information about the song(s). What I'm wondering is, when I do this, does it actually change the ID tag within the song file or does it just change some table in iTunes somewhere leaving the song file unchanged?
Occasionally, I will purge my iTunes library and add all my songs again.
I have tried a couple third-party tag change like Jaikoz but for some reason it won't run on my eMac now. I was hoping that iTunes would make changes to the actual ID Tags of the songs so I don't have to bother with a third party app.

Yes, iTunes changes the ID3 tags in the physical files. There is no need for you to use a 3rd party application.

I have an iTunes collection that has been building since 2006. I divide my music into a few categories using the "grouping" tag. Often times when I edit the "grouping" tag I am overwriting either the label or a web address which had been previously added to that tag. I also use Mixed In Key software to analyze my music before adding the music to iTunes. Mixed In Key enters the key of the song into the "comments" tag and the BPM into the "BPM" tag.
I have been doing this for years and lately I have began to notice a problem. On some songs (most songs don't do this), when the song is played iTunes "refreshes" the tag and often times the "grouping" tag changes or reverts back to the info that was previously in the tag, such as the label or web address.
Further, sometimes the key that is written in the "comments" field will change to a long code of digits... something literally like 00007658935482748193.. Always beginning with several zeros.
Is there anything that I can do to have iTunes hard rewrite these fields so that they do not change by themselves?

Yes, others are seeing this. Something in purchased media (I am pretty sure this has only happened with purchased media) is periodically checking back with the iTunes Store and resetting the tags in the iTunes library file but not in the actual media files (metadata are stored in both). I haven't seen a truly systematic diagnosis of the issue (I use an old iTunes and have no iTunes account so I can't test anything myself). There are temporary workarounds but tags will still revert after a time.

When I downloaded the new iTunes, it changed the tags on some of my tracks. As a result, I had to fix them manually. When I downloaded another upgrade this week, my tags changed again. How can I prevent this from happening in the future?

The cricual thing is to have a complete backup of your library that you could restore if needed.
What changes are you noticing? There appear to be some new as yet not well documented features designed to sync data across multiple libraries/devices which may have unwanted side effects.

All apps are forever tied to the Apple ID that bought them. To stop your id from popping up, you need to delete the apps on his phone, and then repurchase them under his account.

No such option for moving song within playlist, only the up and down arrow which moves song from top to bottom list, so if it is #4 from top it will move to #4 from bottom. Stupid I know. I spent over an hour with Apple support, reinstalled itunes, restarted and rebooted computer. Networked with my laptop which is running 10.6.8 and itunes 10.4 and it can drag and drop. After looking at other people's posts, I think it's official: there is a bug. Itunes support said I should not have lost the drag/drop tool and I haven't on the laptop that is running itunes 10.4 and operating system 10.6.8. I chatted with someboby who lost both his drag/drop and side scroll and what we have in common is a wacom tablet for a mouse. My laptop is a wireless mouse. I reinstalled whatever updated driver that wacom has out there, shut the system down for night, hoping for magic, but alas none to be had. So if I want to change song order, I network the laptop and desktop, share the screen on the laptop, drag and drop to my heart's content and curse Apple for making me work this hard to find the tool that was once at my fingertips. Apple also let me know that if I want to share songs in household that the hundreds on songs that were purchased for .99 need to be repurchased for another .30. Maybe Apple is holding my drag/drop tool captive til I pay up the money or Maybe the next update will fix the problem, I for one give up for now.

The only limit is that of the device. No restrictions on how much of it you can use for music. Is part of your music library unchecked?

Manually Changing song dynamics when in the cloud using iTunes Match

I would like to know if I am capable of changing the volume or adding an equalizer setting to a song that was uploaded to the cloud and is matched using iTunes Match? This song/album was initially ripped from a CD.

What you will get is the Matched version. Any volume adjustment or equalisation setting will not apply. If track had been uploaded instead of matched, the track would be identical to the original.
If you downloaded the matched track to replace the original on your computer, you would have to redo the adjustments.

I add the keyword 'sync' to any photos I want added to the iPhone/iPad.
Then, during the regular process of syncing the iPhone/iPad with my computer (mac), the photos with that keyword would be copied onto the iPhone, iPad.
I've been doing it this way ever since I was shown how to; ie after I got my iPhone 2 years ago. And every time the process worked - until the last few weeks. Suddenly it doesn't do it any more.
I believe I have upgraded software (either iTunes or iPhoto or both) during this period. I try to keep my software updated but have noticed previously that the new version often is disappointing.

Have you signed out of your iTunes account on the device/computer that you are using and signed back in with the updated password ? That should 'refresh' the account on it, and you should be able to use the account's new password to download updates to its apps

Without a backup, the use of iTunes or the use of iCloud, your only choice is to restore the device as new to remove the passcode.

How can I change the iTunes account on a used computer

I puchased a used laptop and need to change the itunes account.

Go to the Store menu in iTunes and choose "Deauthorize this Computer".
Then you'll have to go back to the same menu and choose "Authorize this Computer".
Of course, this might delete any purchases made from this account and delete them from your iTunes library.
