ID3 tags for non-purchased TV shows

I think Apple's approach to ID3 tags for purchased TV shows is perfect. You can browse by the show name, select the one you want (ie. Lost vs Desperate Housewives), then the specific episode names appear on the next iPod screen.
However, all of the ID3 tags used for purchased shows are not available for shows downloaded through bittorrent or recorded with EyeTV. This means we can't use tags for "Season", "Episode #" and "Show". I think they would work if only we could declare the "Video Kind: TV Show", but this option is grayed out in the file's "Get Info" options tab.
This severely impacts browsing for videos on the iPod. Currently I have to name my videos something like this "CSI: Season 6: Episode 1: Bodies in Motion" in order to browse effectively for the file on my iPod. I'd love to name it simply "Bodies in Motion" -- WITHIN the "Season 6" folder -- WITHIN the "CSI" folder. [I'm not using "folder" literally -- I'm just trying to imply a hierarchical structure.] Without these tags, this "foldered" browsing isn't possible.
Anybody figured out how to get around this obstacle?

I downloaded a TV Show and three music videos and the music videos are on my Ipod but the TV show is not and there is no category for TV only for movies and suggestions

  • Id3 tags for songs already on the ipod

I have properly edited my id3 tags for songs already on the ipod. How can I update the tags for the same music that is on my PC???

So, any idea on how to get the tags updated in the Library?
Yes. Repeat your edits on the songs in the Library.
In the future, don't edit stuff directly on the iPod. Edit it in iTunes and then sync the iPod to copy the changes to it.

The Transport Charges are not to be Charged to the Customer and should not be added to the Sales Order.

Create purchase Item frieght in the purchase tab enter the transporter. include this in the sales order and in the logistic tab of sales order active purchase order check box, you frieght item will have a value of 0. when you create sales order the the system will lead you to create purchase order. there you can enter the price of freight. you can explore options there.

  • Fixing ID3 tags for mac

    Hey All,
Does anyone know of software that will scan the Itunes library and fix any corrupted ID3 tags?
About 20% of my songs (and growing) wont import or add to Itunes. I suspect it is because of corrupt Id3 tags???
Anyone else found a solution to this?

Well thats not going to be corrupted id3 tags, I dont' think the finder even reads id3 tags, so if they are not playable from there, they either have had their file extension changed to an incorrect extension, or they are most likely damaged files. In the get info window for one of the files in the finder, open up the name and extension category. What is the extension at the end of the file <nameoffile>.whatishere? Do the file icons show that they are still associated with itunes (have a little itunes music note on the file icon)?

  • Cannot edit ID3 tags for newly added tracks

I want to stress: this is for iTunes 10.5 b2 but I want to make sure this gets out there so this issue can be resolved sooner rather than later since it's somewhat ESSENTIAL for iTunes to actually function properly.
But I upgraded to b2 from b1 today and now anytime I add any new mp3 files I cannot edit the ID3 tags - in fact I go to edit them and all the options are greyed out...
Anything added PRIOR to the upgrade is editable it's just anything I add since the upgrade. I've tried restarting the app and it still is locked.
Anyone have any suggestions? Has anyone else seen this?

Since iTunes 10.5 is development release only and you as a developer agreed to not discuss it in accordance with your non-disclosure agreement, you should post the question over here -> http://www.developer.apple.com

  • How do i edit id3 tags for all mp3s in a folder?

If I have a folder of mp3s, how do I set all of their id3 album tags to the same album? For instance, in Windows you can just select all of the files and then right click and go to Properties where any tags you edit get applied to each of the files. I'd prefer to do it all in Finder, but if there's some way through iTunes, or another app, I'd be glad to hear about it.

That's the problem though, the tracks aren't in the same album according to their current id3 tags.

  • HT204088 I do not see any email from Apple for a purchase that shows up on my credit card.  How can I get a credit for a charge I see do not see in my history but shows up on my cc?

I do not have an email from Apple for a charge that shows up on my credit card statement.  I also do not see a charge in my history for this amount.  How can I dispute the charge?

If nothing shows on the purchase history on your account, and you only have the one iTunes account that the card has been linked to and it's not a temporary store holding charge (you haven't changed your card details on your account ?), then you can contact iTunes support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption.
But if nothing shows on your purchase history then you should also consider contacting your card issuer.

  • MP3 ID3 tags in non standard character set

    Hello,
I'm curious as to how I can rip a cd as mp3 and read the tags that have been encoded in a non western or unicode character set. Right now I'm using the LANG environment variable and setting it to the locale that matches the character set, ripping the songs, and then writing the tags using easytag as unicode before resetting the LANG variable. This is fine, but it gets annoying as once I change the language a lot of my programs also start using that language and I would like them to remain english.
Is there a simpler and more straight-forward way of doing this?

Just guessing, but what if you only set LC_CTYPE to whatever language you need?

  • I am being charged for non purchase of applictions

i have been charged from itunes store even without purchase?

Are they store holding charges (are they small ?), which are quite often made after adding/changing credit card details ? If so then they should disappear within a few days : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3702
Otherwise have you checked your purchase history on your iTunes account ? - Store > View My Account, then Purchase History

  • After deleting ID3 Tag it shows up again

    Hello,
    i have this problem:
if i delete some ID3-Tags, for example the Album-Tag it shows up again when i double click the file.
If use the iTunes 11.1.5 and the mediathek is managed by Itunes.
    Thanks for help!
    Michael

When you change a tag iTunes has to change it in two places (for most media formats except WAV).  It changes the data in its database library file and it has to re-write the tags in the media file itself.  We don't know much about your setup but I am wondering if iTunes is having problems writing your media file.  If you highlight a track where the media file has different information from the iTunes database the database will be refreshed to match the media file. In your case I am wondering if that media file is just not being changed.  Is it on a different drive or in another user area?

  • Bad bug with ID3 tags of different case for same artist

My itunes files and music library are on a different drive than my boot drive. It is an internal drive (always on) in my Mac Pro at /Volumes/Media1/iTunes with music library at /Volumes/Media1/iTunes/iTunes Music. iTunes is setup to automatically keep it organized and copy files to the media folder when adding. It has been this way for years, never a problem.
Just recently, and I think this may have coincided (but I'm not sure) with a 10.6.5 Snow Leopard update, my music started disappearing! The entries were still in the library, but with the missing exclamation mark in itunes with it reporting that it couldn't find the files. But only certain artists. After searching my computer, I found the missing files it at the same path, but on my boot drive, at /Media1/iTunes/iTunes Music/<missing artist>!
Trying to add these files back to my library would work briefly, but then they would magically disappear out of /Volumes/Media1/iTunes/iTunes Music and go back to /Media1/iTunes/iTunes Music/
I figured out the one thing the different artists that had this behavior had in common - some of the ID3 tags for the same artist, which are the basis for organization, were in different cases. I think there is a weird case sensitivity bug that is breaking things. When I add back only those songs for an artist with ID3 tags for the artist of the same case, the behaviour stops.
I'm posting less looking for an answer and more to raise visibility and hope this gets a fix.
Example entries from my iTunes Library.xml, notice how the 'k' in OutKast is a different case in the entries.
    <key>Artist</key><string>OutKast</string>
    <key>Location</key><string>file://localhost/Volumes/Media1/iTunes/iTunes%20Music/OutKast/Speakerboxxx,%20Th e%20Love%20Below%20(Disc%202)/13%20Pink%20&%20Blue.mp3</string>
    <key>Artist</key><string>Outkast</string>
    <key>Location</key><string>file://localhost/Volumes/Media1/iTunes/iTunes%20Music/Outkast/Aquemini/12%20Spot tieOttieDopaliscious.mp3</string>

I'd like to note that I'm experiencing the exact same issue. I'd add to this but petegas4life has it spot on. I'm just replying in hopes this thread gets noticed so the engineers at apple can look into this and hopefully fix it in the next release.
Reproducing the problem is pretty simple too. Just take one song from an album and change the case of the artist name. You'll see the music move to the boot drive and all of the songs from that artist won't work in itunes anymore. And if you're relying on iTunes to edit the tags, fixing the files is a PAIN because they keep disappearing on you.

  • ITunes doesn't read ID3 tags properly on import

    hi all,
today I've added ID3 tags to all my mp3 files, so that they will look better in iTunes and my iPod. I have added information for "title", "artist", "album" and "track #" in ID3v1 and ID3v2.3.
Now, when I import these files to iTunes, the ID3 information is read only partly or not at all. This means, some tracks show all information, some only show title and artist, some do not show anything at all.
I edited all the ID3 tags with the same software, which makes it even more mysterious. The software was implemented by myself in C#. To edit the ID3 tags, I used the library UltraID3Lib. I don't think that something is wrong with my software because the ID3 tags are displayed properly in Winamp without any problems.
I have also already tried the option in iTunes to convert the ID3 tags, but this also only yields strange results: If I select "none" as ID3 version, iTunes obviously imports the information from the ID3v1 tags, but it deletes the ID3v2 tag at the same time, so that titles and albums are cut down to 30 characters. If I choose other options, nothing changes.
Does anybody have an idea how to solve this problem? Or can someone maybe explain this "convert ID3 tag" option? It doesn't really make sense to me...
    Many thanks in advance!
    gehho.

As far as I know (and it may not be very far), iTunes does use standard ID3 tags for most things. The XML file stores info on ratings, playlists, playcounts and other iTunes specific information for use by other applicaitons. iTunes itself doesn't use the XML file but rather the iTunes Library.itl file.
It's possilble to do multiple file tag editing in iTunes for things like artist, album, year, etc. I would say, go with whatever works for you. It just seemed as if what you were doing wasn't working. Perhaps the other suggestion will solve you're problem.
    Best of luck.

  • Question about id3 tags

i had all of the fields of all my songs just how i liked them. i thought itunes had written everything i had edited into the id3 tags of all the songs. apparently, it didn't work.
i am using another software called serato. i took the mp3's whose tags i edited in itunes and imported them into serato. i know this program is able to read all versions of tags, so i found a suggestion someone made to strip the id3 tags. this process called for selecting all the songs, converting the id3 tags to "none", then changing them back to a certain version (v2.3 or v2.4).
after doing this, i take a look at my itunes library and about 80% of all my songs have their tags messed up. either the genre is back to what it was before i changed it a while ago, or (more annoyingly) the song titles are all truncated to a certain length.
    1. is there any way to undo this? or am i going to have to manually go back and re-edit all the fields?
    2. is there a better way of ensuring itunes is correctly changing the id3 tag fields? for example. if i edit the id3 tags on itunes on one profile on my mac, then take the same mp3 file and import it into itunes on another profile, the id3 tags seem to not have been changed at all.
help anyone? this whole thing has got me really frustrated. thanks in advance.

In Serato setup, check box Read iTunes Library. However this doesn't solve the problem, only creates yet another location for cleaning up....
Having somewhat same issue: Converted all id3 from iTunes succesfully, but couldn't import files correct on other macbook in iTunes (same version)?!?!? Doesn't read id3...

  • ID3 Tags Not Being Recognized

Okay, so I have a problem and I am racking my brain trying to figure it out.
Itunes isn't recognizing some of my music's ID3 tags. Worst part is I used Itunes to convert every song I have to ID3 v 2.4, but there's still a handful that aren't been recognized. I used Media Monkey to aid in my tagging. For further pain listen to this. I also just updated from Itunes 6 or whatever to 7.4.1.1.1.1 or whatever the **** it's at now, and it went from about 7 albums to like 30 that itune's won't recognize the ID3 tags for.
For more help look at this image. Showing an example of how all my songs have and Artist, Album, and more set to them, but ITunes won't pick it up. Any idea how to fix this guys?

Hi guys. If your music is in MP3 format, try downloading this program: http://www.download.com/Mp3-Tag-Tools/3000-2141_4-10106717.html
Then click file > open directory. Find the folder that holds your music and click open. Make sure 'recurse subdirectories' is ticked so that it opens everything within the folder. This can take quite a while if you have a lot of music.
Once all your files have loaded, press Ctrl+A to select all of your music files and then press F7. This duplicates whatever is in your ID3V2.X tags onto the ID3V1.1 tags.
For iTunes to take notice of any tag changes you make in this program, the file either has to be played or re-uploaded into iTunes which can also take a while depending on how much music you have, but once you've done that, iTunes should start recognising your tags.
    Hope this helps!
