IDB Datamaster
Does anyone know what the precise limitations of the Lite version of this app are? It looks quite good but I don't know that I need the full version for 5 pounds more!

Thank you for your interest-in / purchase-of iDB.
- 'Lite' is based on the first, prototype template engine. It has static fields, can support about 400 records, however, those slots need to be evenly divided between different database types, hence a static limitation on the number of records a database may have.
- Increasing the 400+ magic number would provide more records to iDB Lite, but then, they will eat up iPhone resources unnecessarily (memory) if they don't get used, hence making 'Lite' (an ironic name) even heavier than what it already is. So the limitations are about 3 DBs per database type, 20 records per DB. There is a debate on integrating upcoming db-types into the Lite version. That will be nice, but then it would reduce available records even more (or, make 'Lite' even more resource hungry).
- A later version replaced the 'Lite' template engine while keeping the user interface as is. It also implemented 'restore' feature (where 'Lite' version currently lacks). That is 'iDB Datamaster'. Lets call it 'full' version. The full version, albeit it sounds bigger, has much smaller footprint and fully dynamic. As is 'Lite' is feature-light, resource-heavy. Development totally shifted on the full version.
Lite is useful for people who may never have more than 100-200 records or so.

Application iDB Datamaster Pro
Please review and approve the new app update "iDB Datamaster - Pro" Version 1.2, by Evince Technologies, Inc as soon as possible. All of the customers of Version 1.1.3 are enraged by it's failure to run under iPhone OS4. The makers claim that they have submitted Version 1.2 which fixes the bug, but it is going through your review process. Please make reviewing this app your top priority. Please let me know when it is approved or let me know when you have submitted constructive comments to Evince Technologies so that they can fix any issues you have with their app update. I and their entire customer base are totally unable to use their product under OS4 until you do.
Thank you very much for all the attention you can apply to this issue.I don't recall apps being pulled from the store before just because they were due to upgrade. I'm beyond annoyed about iDB Pro's developer being unable to keep up with the OS shifts. Other devs were much faster to react. Good thing I had some unencrypted back-up files, though not everything.
I switched to HanDBase and if I ever get the chance to edit my iDB review it'll be scathing. They lost me as a customer forever. -
New iPod touch - How to make it a Palm Pilot
OK. My new iPod Touch (16GB) is on order (ordered on day 1) - I have my Mobile Me account up and running and my iCal and my Mail accounts are synced.
My reason for buying the new iPod touch is to replace my Palm Pilot (Tungsten E). I was able to export/import 6 years worth of Palm data to iCal – now I need to be able to use iCal on the iPod touch to see/edit my daily schedules on the road – and to sync and see them on several Macs at home and in the studio.
I just watched the new Apple video about the new iPod touch – and, frankly, it came across as a 1) a teen-age game machine, 2) a movie player, and 3) a music box. Nothing in the video promo spoke to iCal on a Touch – or using the iPod touch as a business tool – other than Safari and email.
There are a million new apps available, but I don’t have time to test them all. This is what I need:
1) A iPod Touch version of Docs To Go. I want to make a document (file- text –letter) on my Mac (in Word, for example) – and then download it to the touch to read (and edit) on the road – and then re-sync changes made on the Touch with Mobile Me and my Macs.
2) To Do lists that sync between Mobile Me – my Macs and the Touch – with the ability to make/edit the To Do from the Mac or the Touch.
3) Search capability to find events, To-Dos, and documents (such as a letter) in the iPod Touch. That is a great feature of the Palm Pilot – I can see when I was last in a city with a simple search – or find a calendar entry with a customer’s name – even from several years ago.
And:
4) a Forum that addresses how to use the iPod Touch as a business tool – rather than as a game/music/video machine – essentially how to replace a BlackBerry or a Palm Pilot with and iPod Touch.
I have ZERO AT&T coverage where I live and work – so the iPhone is a no go for me. I will keep my Verizon cell phone and get rid of the Palm Pilot – if I can make the Touch behave as a tool rather than as a toy.
So – What APPS should I get ready to use?Hi,
I have done the transition from a Palm Treo to the iPod Touch. As has been said the Apps are not as mature as with the Palm. You do need to be creative. I went with OmniFocus, both the ipod app and the desktop app. The desktop app will sync with iCal but I feel it should be the master. Not the cheapest route but very solid.
Direct MS Word compatibility I haven't seen yet. It will be there I am sure. The Notes app works fine for writing and you can email notes to yourself and copy the text out to what ever program you choose. No cut Copy Paste yet either so real word processing is not a reality. Docs to Go was pretty good.
There is CSV touch that will load any CSV file. Excel sheets. Also the idb Datamaster pro. Worth looking at. It is a database system that can import and export again in csv.
I have PocketMoney to record financials. It will sync through QIF files with Quicken. I say sync but it really just imports and exports QIF files. Takes some creative handleing not to end up with duplictae transactions. I figured out a work around and it saves keeping the paper around till I get to my computer.
File Magnet is really great. Drag anything to it and it will be loaded for viewing ( only) on the Touch.
The sync with iCal, Email and Contacts is excellent. I use this system daily for all my appointments and work schedules.
I don't bother with the games but it is cool to listen to music in the car with one device.
Having real internet in your hand instead of the klunky Treo browser is so much better. Safari is functional enough to do my online banking.
iFlix is really functional for Netflix. My Weather for weather forcast. Gives local animated radar.
So.. It is a new platform. It will have growing pains but it is functional and innovative.
Browse the App Store. Most are cheap enough that you can try without costing too much. The reviews are mostly helpful if you weed through the jokers.
I carry mine all the time. It finds internet all over without me doing anything. Battery life is acceptable for the most part. Just listening to music it lasts plenty long. Wifi and constant browsing or apps will run it down quicker. Consider that like watching a video. I use it in my car with a TransPod FM adapter. It charges the battery while it is playing. Works out fine that way. I get a full day of use and then the night always on without any worries. The ride to work charges it up enough.

Flash builder 4.7 iOS Debug Binary (IDB) component is not installed.
I get the error below consistantly. Is the IDB supposed to be part of the flex 4.6 sdk or part of an air sdk? (I've not seen it in either)

Flex SDK 4.6 has AIR 3.1 which doesn't have the support of IDB. So, if you wanted to use USB debugging for iOS, please create an ActionScript Mobile Project which has AIR 3.4 that supports IDB, else download the AIR SDK 3.4 and overlay it on Flex 4.6 SDk.

Error when executing IDB: "bind(): Result too large"
I'm trying to use USB debugging in the iPad, as per this guide:

But when I try to execute "idb.exe -forward 7936 7936 1" (1 being my iPad handle), I get the error message:
"bind(): Result too large"

Here's the "ls -l" output for one of the files in question:

Accessing that file (or any other from the above list) gives same/similar error. The wording differes from command to command, but basically it's the same thing (read error, or result too large, or both combined). For example:

The console log doesn't show any related errors. -

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Any ideas how to fix it?This was working fine for a while, but now I have same issue for Win 7 x64. I believe it may be related to some windows update or drivers.

Currently im working as a system administrator in labourindia (media house). We face an issue on how to bring idb ( incite project files) to final cut pro 7 (mac pro x). We have 467 episodes of incite. we need to bring idb projects to incite for further modulations. could you please give a solution for it.

The IPsec overhead is 'complicated' to calculate (depending on chosen cipher suite and original packet length). Hence you'd need to have calculator of some sort, several folks wrote those, we have one internally written by a colleague.
It is safe to assume that overhead will be around 100 bytes (for GRE over IPsec) , newer IOS will calculate that for you too. It's a stretch, but we'd rather have lower MSS than deal with fragmentation.
But regardless, you will see very often in our reference configuration that MTU is set to 1400, and a matching MSS of 1360.
Fragmentation/reassambly is an popular, remember that when you set MTU you NEED to set also MSS (MTU - 40 = MSS).
Another thing is (tunnel) PMTUD, while it's typically broken over internet, it is one of my favorites, it helps detect and diagnose problems early in the deployment rather than dealing with it later on.

[mac][osx 10.10] idb -install myapp.ipa does not install on iOS 8.2?
I have updated my device to iOS 8.2 and it seems that installing an .ipa via command line doesn't work -- it simply fails silently. If I sync via iTunes it does add the app to the phone. Is that something other people have seen or am I doing something wrong?
Tried with SDK 16.0.0.292 and 17.0.0.124

We tried this issue on a Mac 10.10 with 17.0.0.124 build but the issue is not reproducible at our end on a 8.2 device. If possible could you please share a sample application on which this issue is reproducible?

Unable to load database connector - using JRC w/report connecting to Oracle
A simple Java program was created to test a Crystal Report using JRC. The Java program is a thick-client Swing desktop application (modified from an example of crxi_r2_migrating_rdc_to_jrc.pdf). The program failed to execute the report with the following error:
Unable to load database connector u2018com.crystaldecisions.reports.queryengine.driverImpl.DriverLoader'
It might be something simple to correct the problem, but I am not able to find related answers in the documentation and from the forum.
CR version is XI R2. The Java program was compiled and run using jdk1.4.2_13. Oracle is 10.2.
Do I have to use JDBC? or the CR Oracle driver will do? What needs to be setup? If I use JDBC, what do I need to setup (I tried to following the links in the forums or other documentation, but most of the links to http://support.businessobjects.com/.... are broken - i.e. re-route to the SAP support page but not directly linked to the articles)
When the report JRCTestReport.rpt was saved with the option "Save Data With Report", it works fine. So the problem is only with Oracle database driver, the other jars are fine.

Machine has multiple jdk, oracle 10g, Oracle11g client installed though. So I need to set my path to use the jdk from Crystal Report and Oracle 10g.

Unable to pass traffic for new vpn connection
Scenario:
I have three sites all connected ( full mesh) with IPsec/GRE tunnels and these work fine. I attempted to add a satellite office to one our sites. The sat device is a 3rd party device and is behind a rotuer/fw device. The IPSec tunnel (non-gre) appears to come up but no traffic passes.
When I ping 192.168.3.1 from the sat device (monitored using tcpdump), it cause the tunnel to come up but I don't see the Cisco side replying back.
The 192.168.180.0/24 network is at the Sat office and the 192.168.3.0/24 network is at the main office.
If I initiate a ping from the Cisco side, it doesn't prompt the tunnel to come up. ???? Any ideas?

My review of DL2100 ( compared with EX2)
Hey,I had an EX2 device before and here is my review after 5 months of usage . Now i have replaced them with DL2100 and i want to compare the 2 of them with real life usage, not marketing. With red, you will see the review for DL2100
So what i like about EX2:
- fast read/write ( this is only because i don't have another NAS to compare) - quite fast read/write, about 15-20 MB more than EX2 ( not using link aggregation)
- small and elegant design - bigger and chunkier. I like EX2's design more, but this is the trend now on NAS devices, so it's ok
- quiet - except the first seconds when the device is booting, the fan is quite.
- apearently easy to use - apearently easy to use- intuitive explanations in the GUI - intuitive explanations in the GUI is keept and i like this
- cheaper than other competitor ( now i know why ) - not very cheap at 650+ euros. I guess they charge the extra money for hardware( better CPU, more RAM and upgradeable, dual network and dual power supply. Not a very improved OS to justify the cost)- quality HDDs
- quality HDDs - added power button. This small and common thing is needed. - public folders can finally be turned off and deleted. Seems that they finally understand and implemented one of customers biggest request. - finally the fan is working and the fan's rotations are counted - RAM is upgradable
So what i don't like about EX2:- no power button. Even if WOL is available and something so simple as a power button may seem unnecessary, trust me it's needed.
- public folders can't be made private ( on ex2100 it can, but firmware update for EX2 is 6 months old)
- power scheduler is not customizable enough - power scheduler is still the same and very primitive.
- smartphone apps are not reliable, maybe because of the ex2 's firmware. Sometimes it connects and the next time it sais that you don't have access or permissions and you have to add the device again. Not reliable when you are away. - smartphone app seems to be more stable on DL2100. Still not perfect, but until now i had only 2 problems when the app could not connect to NAS. Again, the fix was to generate another access code, delete the device and add it again. Still needs work!
- support is very limited - I still found problems in the first 1hour of usage, and nothing to be done without a firmware update.
- firmware is not customizable enough ( have you see Synology or Asustor ? ..if not, take a good look you have enough to lean WD !! ) - same thing as EX2, beside some extra features like public folder deletion, 2xNICs connectivity options, everything is the same as EX2
- updates for EX2 stopped and no one from WD want to make an official statement about what's going on. - DL2100 is not better at this chapter. Still no updates since the device release ( 1.06.133 realeased a few days ago is only for a security update, not performace and usability improvement )
- backup works whenever it wants - no problems so far, but i only use remote backup and most of the backup problems were related to attached stick/drive- unable to backup on a shared location except on another WD device - same problem/ 'feature'
- app market from ages ago with no active updating - same app market- for every new shared folder created, you have to create a separate backup job, because editing existing ones is impossible - problem persists. No possibility to edit a job once it's created- no possibility to turn OFF .wdmc hidden folders where not needed. If you have to copy all the picture folders on another location, you will end up copying those hidden .wdmc folders aswell. If you have a few hundrets of picture folders, good luck clean that up. - so far, i couldn't see any .wdmc hidden folders. I'm sure they are somewhere, but even with show hidden folders option activated on Windows, i couldn't se them. Copy of the folder on another WIN machine doesn't seem to have other files beside what I added to that folder. I haven't tried SSH- When accessing EX2's dashboard over internet or VPN, My cloud Services shows as turned OFF and can't be turned on, but when i access the dashboard within the internal network, Cloud Services shows as ON. Also you can't use tools that require Cloud Services to be turned ON, ex statistics of disk usage. - same problem.- Dashboard can't be accessed over VPN or any other subnet. The only workaround is to turn Cloud Access ON, even if you do not do the port forwarding on the router to actually have Cloud Access over the internet - same problem- FTP still has problems - I couldn't make FTP work the way i wanted, only wih the same setting from EX2, which i've talked about on this forum.- If you have a normal backup job and you create a Sync backup job, it will not sync the existing backup, but it will create another folder and double your files on the backup target nas. Not to mantion that day 28 is the beste WD could do. What if i want to do a sync on day 30 or 31. - same problem- WOL is not a feature if the target is shutdown while attempting to run a backup job - same problem- no possibility to hide folders from users that do not have access - same problem- no idea is the fan is actually working or when it should be activated. Fan RPM is always 0 - TURN OFF LED option is not available anymore. I was using that and i don't like the bright light during the night. - No possibility to see how much space is free/used on every disk when JBOD. Only if you map the shares or calculate how much every share is using. Not practical ! - Problems with the email notification system. A shutdown/reboot (which is critical to know) of the device is considered an information instead of atleast a warning if not critical. Therefore, notification email not sent. Also a successfull backup is considered a warning, instead of an information. I haven't tested all the event's but since these are quite important i notified WD support.Hi there,

Dell Venue 11 Pro Camera/Video Issue
Hello All!I have some Dell Venue Pro 11 tablets running Windows 8.1. When I got them hooked up to our domain, I tried to take video and it was choppy. I realized that the camera roll was actually on one of our servers. Thererfore, there was a delay when retrieving the video from the server to the tablet. The solution was to move the camera roll to the C: drive on the device. And bam! It worked.Now I am encountering another problem: when I am not connected to a network or wifi, I open the camera app and get the message: We can't get to the camera roll right now, Something went wrong while accessing the camera roll. I cannot figure out why it would have a problem finding it if I have it locally stored on the C: drive under Public Desktop.If anyone can help with this, I would really appreciate it!John HeimIT Support TechBerks Counseling...

I have 2 Cisco 1941 routers with a standard IPSec tunnel between them. Data works fine, but VoIP is encountering a one way audio issue where the remote site calling cannot be heard but they can hear me. This seems to match what I'm seeing in encaps and decaps. The quesion I'm having is why would the remote site be encapsulating all packets but the office router isn't decaping these audio packets. I isolated one phone specifically so that's why the SA is for only 1 host.

1) I have taken these buffer captures. The capture associated with "outside" is short when compared with the number of packets from the "inside" capture in the amount that is most likely associated with the call we placed.
2) Not NAT at all.
3) No CBAC or ZBF, unless some default that I'm not aware of. Not sure off hand how to disable those.
I did get this case through to TAC but after 3 hours we are left at comparing the capture buffers. -
Setting up Multiple SSID's & VLAN
I have a Cisco 1230 AP along with a Sonic Wall TZ 210 and a Linksys SFE 2010P switch. On my AP I have created 2 SSID's. and 2 VLAN's. The first SSID is being broadcasted and has WPA encryption on it for our Corporate USers. The Second SSID is a Guest SSID and too is being broadcasted. I can make a laptop connect to the 1st SSID, but for some reason the 2nd SSID nothing will connect to it. The first SSID is associated to VLAN1 and the 2nd SSID is associated to VLAN2. VLAN1 has WPA encryption on it. VLAN2 is setup as Open and no Encryption. Any ideas?
My next question is how to I configure traffic on this AP with the other equipment mentioned? On my sonicwall we have segmented port6 on it to be a different subnet from the corporate subnet. On the Linksys switch I have enable VLANS on port2 and port48 which are on VLAN2. All other ports are on VLAN1. The AP connects to Ports 2 on the linksys switch and port 48 connects to port 6 on the Sonic Wall. When a corporate user connects to SSID1 I want them to be able to connect to the Corporate subnet. When a guest connects to SSID2 I want them to connect to the segmented guest network to only have Internet Access.
Hope this makes sense!
