IDCS3 Layer invisible when hiding guides

Hello!
I have a weired problem with a layer in InDesign CS3 (V 5.0.4 German).
Every object on this layer hides when I hide the guides. Also every object lies in the back as the guides do.
When printing/exporting the objects are visible but if objects on another layer that lies behind the faulty layer, are in front (because all guides lie behind all other layers).
Bug or feature? Can this be fixed?

Hello Peter,
no, the object's attributes are ok. I depends definitely on the layer. As I mentioned before, I have the same effect when I turn off the guides only. Also the objects print but are taken off by other objects on layers behind.

It's not really something to snap a screen shot of. I believe it would need to be a video clip. For instance, when I am working on multiple images in Photoshop, I often need many images open at the same time, but I only have one image viewable and active. The hero image is active on screen while I hide the other images in the dock by hitting the yellow - button on the images. Then I "Hide" Photoshop to do something in the Finder. When I go back to Photoshop, every image that is hidden in the dock will pop open again in the active window, not just the image I was currently working on. I want these images to stay in the dock until I need them, no matter how many times I Hide the Show Photoshop.

How do you make a custom button that is Invisible When not selected

Im just recently switching over to using a mac for authoring. I really like all the features in DVD Studio more than what i was using on a PC for the past 6 years. Which was ulead DVD Workshop 2.
The only problem im having (For Now) is that i cant make my custom buttons invisible. I made this little black shape thing in photoshop and i want to use it in DVDSP for selecting different tracks.
I thought all i had to do was just save the black shape with a transparent background in photoshop as a .psd and import it. But that didnt work.
When i change episodes it just stays black the whole time. I want something that will be invisible when it is not selected.

I can send someone my little shape if they can make it a usable button that i can make invisible in dvdsp. I really need to see the layers done with a shape as a button to see how they were able to make it invisible.
i tried a few tutorials but instead of being invisible all i got was a shape that was stuck white the whole time. this is even when i put the opacity to 0 on normal.

Ok, what you want to do is also in the same tutorial. See the section on "Advanced Highlights" (again, avoid the sections on layered menus), You can create an overlay that does have two colors. The bad news is that there will be absolutely no anti-aliasing at all. This means your graphic will be extremely pixelated. This is just the way the DVD specs are set up, so there is no way around it.
Given that I would highly recommend redesigning your overlay. Take a look at variety of DVDs from Hollywood. See what they are doing in their menus. You can do anything they are doing, but you will notice that the overlay is very simple because of the limited anti-aliasing of DVDs. In all the years that I've been watching DVDs I've only see one DVD use two colors in the overlay, and that was the Jim Carey "The Grinch who Stole Christmas."

At the moment it just appears as "Vector Smart Object" in Photoshop and I have to take another step and change the layer name.

Two annoying bugs when exiting guided acces via Touch ID

When exiting guided access on my iPad Air 2 (iOS 8.1.3) via Touch ID, I encounter the following strange behavior:
1. the disabled areas I defined in the guided access mode (the "greyed-out" areas where touch input is not accepted) remain as grey areas on the screen, even when entering other apps or the home screen after having left guided access mode via Touch ID. However, though still shown on the screen, said grey areas are not active any more, i.e. touch input is accepted though being greyed-out. In short, guided access mode is indeed disabled via Touch ID as expected, but the previously disabled areas remain visible on the screen, which is quite annoying when, e.g., watching movies etc. The left-overs disappear only when starting guided access mode again, and exiting it via triple-clicking the home button and entering the passcode (i.e. NOT via Touch ID)
2. When starting guided access mode again in the same app as before, the previously defined disabled areas are not restored. I.e. every time I start guided mode, I have to define for each app its disabled areas over and over again, which is very annoying in daily use. Again, this forgetfulness occurs only when having left guided access mode via Touch ID before; having left via triple-clicking the home button and entering the passcode saves the set disabled areas such that they are restored when re-entering guided access mode.
Therefore, exiting guided access via Touch ID as currently implemented in iOS 8.1.3 does not make any sense at all, since the greyed out areas left on the screen are quite annoying, as well as re-defining the disabled areas over and over again is not quite useful.
Does anybody also observe this annoying behavior?

Update to iOS 8.2 did not improve the situation - exiting guided access mode via Touch ID still causes both issues...

If your phone is not jailbroken, they will not be able to connect to it. It will not be discoverable unless you go into the bluetooth settings page on the phone, which makes it discoverable. If people are attempting to connect to it, I'll lay odds that FAST&FURIOUS is correct in his guess that your phone is jailbroken. If that's the case, all bets are off. Jailbreaking compromises the security of your device as well as rendering the warranty void.

Missing Desktop Icon when Hiding Dock

Hello
Has anyone experienced the HD icon on the desktop going missing when hiding the dock?
I’ve noticed that when I hide the dock for some reason my ‘System HD’ disappears. It doesn’t return when unhiding the dock either. However if I then go and arrange by Kind it reappears. I can still see the drive using Finder.
I am running the current version of OSX.

Any thoughts, anyone?

Make an object invisible when button clicked

For my newspaper i am creating each page has a next button and a previous button. I have assigned the previous button on one page to attach the movie of the page previous to it and then tested my movie. However when i click the previous button the movieclip does load but loads behind the starting moveiclip. So what i want to do is when the previous button is cliked, that page (movieclip) with the previous button on its dissappears and the previous page loads.

Where are you declaring the Page1 variable here????? You must include a statement such as:

Make button invisible when flv starts again

Hi,
Please, can some one help me and tell me how to have a button
instance become invisible when the play button from the skin.swf
file is clicked? There may be another way to acomplish what I am
trying to do.
I have a Flash 8 file with a FLVPlayback component pointing
to a FLV file. I am using an external skin for the controls. When
the video is finished I have it displaying a button, but if the
person wants to start the video again the button needs to become
invisible again. I am assuming I need to create an actionscript
that says if the video is playing (at all ) the button is
invisible. But how?.. is the big question for me.
Any help would be great.

This is possible. You need actionscript to check the status
of the video, if it is playing then the button goes invisible. This
is called an event listener. You need to give the component an
instance name - like vid. Then use this code on the frame:

SWC PNG's invisible when compression is set to JPEG in Flash Builder 4.7/AIR 3.4

Moved my ActionScript Mobile Project game from Flash Builder 4.6 / AIR 3.2 yesterday to the new release of 4.7 / AIR 3.4. One side effect was that when my PNG's in my assets SWC were set to use JPEG compression instead of PNG, they are invisible at runtime. I haven't found any mention of this when searching so far. I can just use PNG compression for now, but it's nice to have the choice. Anyone else run into this problem?

I haven't seen this come up, however you might want to give our latest AIR 3.5 build a try (12/11/2012 - AIR 3.5 Runtime and SDK Update). Auto layer creation when drawing

I'm new to Illustrator (CS4), but I'm mildly versed in Photoshop (most recently CS1). I wager this is a basic setup setting, but I can't find the solution to save my life. Whenever I draw vector shapes with the pen tool, after I complete a shape, I'll start a new one. But when I create a new shape or vector, it creates a new layer for that vector instead of placing it on the current layer that the first vector was on. I'm running into this same problem with the paintbrush. Any thoughts?

The Layers Panel Isn't just layers... I know confusing. It's actually layers and objects. You can have 3 items in the Layers Panel, Layers, Sub-layers (or nested layers), and Object. Every object will appear by itself. These aren't really layers although they look like it and are in the "Layers" panel.
You can choose the Layer Panel Options from the Layer's Panel menu and click the box to "Show Only Top Layers" and that will not display all the objects. However, having the objects displayed makes it possible to select them with the Layers Panel.

Layer disappear when using blur gallery

The same thing happens on all three blur gallery effects (field blur, iris blur, tilt shift). Once I pick the filter the layer becomes empty. The strange thing is that when I manipulate any of the controls the object appears, but once I stop holding the mousebutton down on the input. The object disappears again. When i apply the settings (enter or the ok buttoon). The layer is empty. WTF?!?
I have used these filters a lot, this just happend suddenly. And I can't fix it. Restart does not help.
Adobe Photoshop CS6 running on MacBook Pro 2.3 GHz i7, osx 10.8.3.

You are probably right about the video card, because a full restart of the computer solved the problem.

Why does the text in text boxes go invisible when annotating PDFs in preview?

If I hover my mouse over where the text box is, the little yellow box that tells you what text is there comes up and shows what the box is supposed to say, but the text is invisible. If I double click the area where the text is supposed to be, it highlights and makes the text visible again. Its not that the text is white, because if i drag it over a dark area, it still doesn't show up. This happens when I open it up again after annotating and saving/closing it. I attached pictures of my cursor hovering over the invisible text box, and one of it hovering over an unaffected text box, for comparison. This has happened to me before. What is happening and how do i stop it?

The fact that 'about half the time' you are seeing this issue and presumably not the other part of the time, I would suggest trying to run the 'Repair Database' option in the First Aid dialog:
Quit Aperture > press and hold Option + Command keys while launching Aperture > select and run the 'Repair Database' option.
