IDCS3 Print Layout To HTML

We produce hundreds of documents designed for print, each setup for many small individual pages eventuall printed in a fanfold document.
We also need to produce web pages that include the exact same content, including retaining the original page numbers and preferably an indicator of page breaks (for example, we want to know on the web page exactly where page 2 ends and page 3 begins on the printed piece) even though the single web page will include all of the content from the many printed pages.
In the past we have been exporting to pdf, then saving as html and re-formatting. For our purposes, using the pdf itself is not possible (long story)
Eventually, we would like to add bookmarks and hyperlinks in the IND document and have them retained down the web path workflow also.
Can anyone point to resources that would assist us in developing a best practice workflow to take a multi-page print document into web-friendly layouts? Thanks for any advice.

  • DW8 for Print Layout?

    Recently we created a newsletter for e-mailing and posting on
    our site. This month, we would like to use the HTML document and
    manipulate it so we can adapt it for a print layout.
    For example, we would add page breaks, adjust margins, remove
    or modify print headers, etc., building upon the DW8 HTML instead
    of ripping out the HTML and starting over from scratch which would
    require repeating all that design work in a print layout program.
    Is there such a tool/plug-in out there?

    If I may chime in and make some suggestion or comment along
    with other participants & et. al., do some tweaking with CSS
    and test on every web browsers.
    Please understand that we sometimes don't have control over
    the kinds of printers, because there are plenty of different types
    of printers - laser printer, color laser or inkjet printers or
    pretty darn old-fashioned dox-martix printers.
    I believe that you can use your judgement and commonsense
    with that approach by tweaking with CSS around HTML and do some
    through testing with different browsers.

    plug-in, well here is what I think Adobe Reader (PDF reader) --
    usually most computers are installed with Adobe Reader plug-in on
    many systems.
    The alternative approach is to design a simple PDF document,
    where you have the control of layout and such. Try to keep the size
    small as much as possible so it can be downloaded very fast. But I
    don't think that is what you are looking at, though.
    If you go with this alternative approach, you might want to
    offer a link in your email and let the customers or clients to
    download the PDF file that way. I don't know. You decide.

  • Convert JSP to Word with print-layout

    Hi:
    I have a task of openning a JSP file in word format.
    So far I am able to open the JSP in word format by
    setting
    response.setContentType("application/vnd.ms-word");
    This setting opens-up the JSP file in MS-Word correctly
    but the View option in Word gets defaulted to "web-view"
    where as my requirement is to get this in View in "print-layout"
    option.
    Another issue:
    Word has a concept of Headers and Footer which are printed
    automatically after every page break during printing
    Question: how to incorporate such headers and and footers in the
    original JSP document so that when it is converted to
    Word they (header/footer) prints during printing.

    I think, that what you need to do, is to use some api that actually generetes binary code that then is understood by MSWord as a word document.
    What you are doing now is to tell word to open an html document.
    There are some apis that allow to do what you want, buy I insist you must generate the doc object and then print the binary chunk to the browser.

  • Dunning Report Print Layout Issue

    Hi
    I have a problem with the Dunning Report Print layout (Dunning All (system)). In the wizard I select all the Invoices (Which are over due and current) for the BP and sent to printer.
    In the print out all the due dates are mixed with the acctual Due dates.

    How can I fix this. This is coming from the System template and we havent change anything.

    Hi
    I solved the problem. But the issue was when i ran the dunning wizard the layouts messed up. For example if I had a dunning letter with 3 lines (overdue documents). The last line would copy itself 4-6 times (it would show the last document 4-6times so the total lines in the dunning letter would be 7-9 lines). But I solve the issue. Somehow the attention person (which I got from the contact persons (ocrp) and not from the document contact person (oinv) ) did the issue. When i switch it to the oinv the issue was gone.

  • Crystal Report print layout error during print preview

    Hi Everyone,
    When I try print preview a marketing document, it will work the first time, and then when I try to print preview again it brings up a window asking me to login into the database with the sa username and password.
    When putting in the correct password, the login fails.
    When I click cancel, SAP hangs up and requires a restart.
    All print layouts were done in Crystal Reports, and imported via the report layout manager.
    This occurs on all marketing documents where there is a crystal print layout.
    Anyone will be able to help me with this?

    I also did not include a stored procedure into the connection that was needed in the layout.

  • Print Layout Designer or Crystal.....! What to do?

    Dear All,
    We need to link our User forms to Print layouts in order to make our reports work exactly the way SAP reports work. Is there a way to enable the print and print preview toolbar buttons and make them show our Report Layout? So far the response from SDK Forum is not encouraging and many questions regarding the same issue remain unanswered there.
    After looking for the solution in the SDK Forums we came across these two replies from Mr. Nick He and Mr.Frank Moebius. Both are of the opinion that currently SAP does not offer a support for this feature and better use a third party tool. We are not in a position right now to opt for any third party tool but if we get a clear response from your side regarding this matter, we can go for it. Kindly have a look at the following links:

    The recommended solution within SAP B1 to develop Add-on reports is through User Queries and creating a Print Layout and run them via Query Manager Window. This approach in our view has the following drawbacks that make it less friendly with the end user:
    1. Add-on forms appear in the left pane/menu, whereas reports would have to run through Query Manager only, which is in fact a small toolbar button on the top right side. We can add the Query Manager link to user menu but it doesn’t solve the problem.
    2. A user with full authorization over the Print Layout can accidentally overwrite it by clicking the Create Report Button, whereas in case of SAP Reports the Layouts remain unchanged and only saved as a new Layout and set as Default Layout for a report. Add-on Reports cannot do this.
    3. Different behavior of Layouts in Query Manager on Single Click and Double Click. In the Query Manager, if a user just selects a query by a Single Click and views a Print Preview (Layout) then the custom user Layout appears. But if a user Double clicks a query then the Query Window appears, exposing the query and making it editable. Also the Preview(Layout) is different in this case. The user can either view the Window or Table Layout in this case. Hence this exercise would make the user confused and prone to errors.
    4. The Parameter/Criteria window that is SAP generated is not enough to fulfill user friendly interface requirements. Is there a way to add List boxes or Combos to that form. The parameter selection Checkboxes also behave in a strange way that even the experts find difficult to manipulate. If they are of no use, what’s the point in having them on the form in the first place.
    All these points are leading us to confusion over the decision as to whether go for Query Based Reports or use Third Party tools. Kindly help us out in this regard. Your response would help us save some valuable time for our Add-on Development.

    The answer to that is to lodge your query as an Issue to SAP directly as a support question or go through your local SAP representative. If the functionality is not offered by SAP you can do a Development Request ( DRQ) and SAP will develop it if they think it will become userful.

  • Print layout designer for develop report based on query

    Dear Experts/Gurus,
    I am amazing about the manage previous reconciliation report. When I opened it using print layout designer, it looks like the report is not built using query, but I am not sure yet. This is very confusing. I created query similar with manage previous reconciliation (MPR), but when I link the query to print layout and try to make similar format/appearance with MPR report (reconciliation management (system)), it is not success.
    Isn't the MPR report built not based on query ? I appreciate your answer. TIA

    I am not sure I understand what's the problem:
    Is it the layout that is different or the data?
    Regarding the data you can use SQL Profiler (maybe you did?) to find out what queries are fired, but please note that there are some stored procedures in the DB that are used for some specific functions - not sure whether the "MPR" uses any of these.
    Then you must include some non-default filter in SQL Profiler...
    ...but you can also use the logging functionality in B1 for that purpose:
    Just activate the logging (see the "log" folder in the B1 subdirectory) in the corresponding config file: choose the option to have the SQLs logged in conjunction with the logging being triggered in all cases (not just error).
    Thus you will get all the SQLs - just plain - from the B1 application, but note that it will obviously slow it down!

    i have 10 query print layout, and not every user can view this layout.
    I assume,
    report 1-3 only for user A,
    report 4-7 only for user B, and
    report 8-10 only for user C.

    In order to createthe PL's of customize report (from Query Manager) you will have to go the Tools Tab of the Menu Bar in which you will have to click the Queries tab which will lead to a drop down menu which when clicked will lead to Quaery Print layout. You will have to choose your query based upon whether from the reports tab double click it to open the Query Print Layout Designer.
    Here again in the Menu Bar you will find the under the Tools the first tab is the PLD which when clicked you can do the same process as explined below
    When you go to the document ( Any Document ) in the tool bar you would find the 24th Icon to be the Print Layout Designer Tab when you click this it takes you to the layout designer window.... below there is tab named set as default when you click this the system would ask you 2 choices
    1. Set as default for all users
    2. Set as default for current user
    Which means that you will have to open each and every form?
    for each and every user and set them as default for the user.

    After you have linked a user-defined query to a user report template, you can print it according to its linked print layout.
    Procedure
    To print a user-defined query, use one of the following two procedures:
    Using the Query Print Layout window:
    1. Choose Tools u2192 Queries u2192 Query Print Layout.
    2. Choose the Reports tab page and select the query you would like to print.
    3. Choose File u2192 Print.
    The user-defined query is printed according to its linked print layout.
    Using the Queries Manager window:
    1. From the toolbar, choose with the quick info text Queries Manager.
    2. Select the query you would like to print.
    3. Choose File u2192 Print.
    The user-defined query is printed according to its linked print layout.
    You can also display a print preview for user-defined queries. To do so, choose File u2192 Print Preview.
    Printing User-Defined Queries with Variables
    Use
    When a user-defined query contains variables, its linked print layout will also display the variables data and print them.
    In the print layout linked to that query, you can see that an additional area containing the condition's parameters was added

    simple task:
    1. Open "Query Print Layout...": SBO_Application.ActivateMenuItem("4868")
    2. Handle new reports form: SBO_Application.Forms.ActiveForm (I know, the better solution should be get form with proper TypeEx and highest TypeCount, but now it doesn't matter)
    3. Select row with required report: m.Columns.Item(0).Cells.Item(row).Click(BoCellClickType.ct_Regular, 0)
    4. Run printing: SBO_Application.ActivateMenuItem("519")
    5. Handle new parameters form: ???
    How can I get newly created form containing report parameters (TypeEx "4000")? I wanna set proper parameters and click "OK" to show printed report. Doesn't work handling:
    - FORM_LOAD in ItemEvent
    - MenuEvent for "519" (is only BeforeAction
    - PrintEvent (executed after accepting parameters)
    - ReportDataEvent (passed FormUID belongs to reports list, not parameters)
    In each event I've listed all forms and there is no form titled "Query - Selection Criteria" with expected TypeEx.
    Is there any way to achive this?

    when you activate print preview of printing on selected User Query Layout, you can cacth the ET_FORM_LOAD event of formTypeEx =4000
    It is working. Please note if you do not have this event, you may check your filters (?)
    Then you can populate your values. Based on my experience the click ok button is not working.

  • Problem with Query Print Layout

    Hi, i have this type of problem.
    I have create a query with 5 fields,i have saved it, and ,after, i have created a report on this query (Query Print Layout).
    So, i have manipulated the report based on the preferences of the customer.
    After this operation, customer tell me that he want to see one more field in the report, so i must add, in the original query, this field. But i note that i can't add a field. I can do it, but i must remake all the report.
    There is a way to do this type of operation, without remake the report from the start?

    Hi Marco:
    I asked our Print Layout Expert, and she tolds me that you have to create the report again.
    Some time ago, in the report designer was a  way to change the link to the query, but that option is disable now.
    So, be patient and ask for this functionality to be implemented.

  • Default Query Print Layout problem

    Hello:
        I have a query below SELECT T0.[ItemCode], T0.[Dscription], sum(T0.[Quantity]) as 'Quantity' FROM INV1 T0 WHERE month(T0.[DocDate]) =month([%0]) AND  year(T0.[DocDate]) = year([%0]) and T0.[ItemCode] IS NOT NULL GROUP BY T0.[ItemCode], T0.[Dscription] ORDER By T0.[ItemCode].
        Which basically output monthly inventory invoiced qty. It works fine. However when I try ti link to the default system print layout and try to print. The column 'quantity' become very small and cut off most of the number. How do I make it bigger? I have been trying to modify it for quiet a while now. Nothing seems to work. I think it's length is preset base on the column lenth in the table! If that's the case how do I make it wider?
        Also the default layout for user query are pretty weired. I think it's dynamically allocating spaces depends on number of column. But what happens when you do functions such as sum, avg..etc. There is no present length. So they just disregard it?
      Any help will be appreciated.. Thank You

    You can create queries using the Query Generator or the Query Wizard tools.
    After you have created your own queries, you can link them to a required print layout.
    for user reports.Look at:
    Tools --> Queries --> Query Print Layout
    Set there your query reports.
    Printing User-Defined Queries
    After you had linked a user-defined query to a user report template, you can now print it
    according to its linked print layout.
    There are two ways for printing your user-defined queries.
    1. Using the Query Print Layout window:

    • Click the Reports tab page.
    • Click to highlight the required query you would like to print.
    • Click on the printer icon or select from the upper menu File &#1048774; Print.
