IDCS4 and MacBook Pro trackpad - enough already!
Using the trackpad on my new MacBook Pro with ID CS4 is driving me a bit mad - there just seems too much happening, too much zooming, dragging, rotating - is it just me or is there just too many features going on at once?
The main irritation is that as I'm designing in ID and moving the cursor around the page, it keep picking on items and rotating them a few degrees. I have tried hard to figure out what combination of finger movements is causing this but I can't figure any rhyme or reason.
I've looked at the trackpad setting in the System panel but I can't see any way to prevent this rotating thing going on.
It also keeps zooming and scrolling around quite a lot - please someone help!

In System Preferences->Trackpad Panel, it should be the checkbox directly underneath the "Tracking Speed" slider at the top of the panel. Uncheck all the boxes under Trackpad Gestures and you should be done.
Also, I figured out what my issue was. This MacBook only recognizes "two-finger" gestures so it doesn't show the full tutorial apparently. I am just remembering it from setting up a MacBook Pro for my boss.

Ok.
Open System Preferences, Apple Logo icon in the menu bar and then System Preferences or the Sys Pref iocon in the Dock and go to the Internet Accounts area and look at your iCloud account. It should list what is and isn't synced by a checkmark next to each item.
Also in the Contacts app click on Contacts in the menu bar and select Preferences then accounts and make sure your iCloud account is listed. You can also do that from the Internet Accounts area in System Preferences. -
I want to install a third operating system on my macbook pro. I already have windows and i want install unix or linux in there. Is it possible??
Yes, it's possible, but if your Windows system is on a Boot Camp partition then you have to first remove it. Then create however many partitions you want for the operating systems. You have OS X on one, so you need two more - one for Windows and one for Linux. You then install Windows and Linux separately to their respective partitions. Download rEFIt
Use it as the replacement bootloader so you can properly boot from each OS properly. -
My time machine does not back up and giving me this error message: The backup disk image “/Volumes/Data-1/Amiel’s MacBook Pro.sparsebundle” is already in use. Pls help.
Make sure that there are no other Macs backing up at the present time.
Pull the power cord from the back of the Time Capsule
Count to ten
Plug the power cord back in
This will "fix" things about 98% of the time. Post back if you are in the unlucky 2% category. -
My Time machine won't back up. Recently updated to OS x 10.7.5. Error message is as follows: "The backup disk image “/Volumes/Time Machine Backup/Scott’s MacBook Pro.sparsebundle” is already in use." What is wrong and how do I fix it? Thanks.

I downloaded Firefox 4 and immediately noticed I could not zoom in and out by using the two finger "pinch" action used on MacBook Pro trackpads.
I reverted to Firefox 3.6 and it works just fine.

I am trying to back up my Macbook Pro to a time capsule attached to my iMac. When I first installed the Time Capsule, all backups went well.Reboot the TC.. it has got lost.. or reboot the whole network.. restart in correct order. .modem router.. TC.. clients.
It suddenly will reappear.. you might need to reboot it again in a few days. .such is apple software today.

MacBook Pro trackpad constantly clicking
I have a late 2008 Macbook Pro 5,1 15' 2.53 GHZ-4GB Ram. Running Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4 (11E53)
My Macbook Pro trackpad is stuck constantly left clicking
some right clicking
moving around by itself
not always responding completely to touch.
In text boxes when typing it constantly erases text
Pretty much unusable when this is happening.
It will happen as long as it wants to and start working normally again with no rhyme or reason I do not see anything in particular that seems to trigger it.I did not just start this thread without searching the net and here. I am just looking for some opinions on if I should take it in for repair or if there are any other things I can try that I may have missed.
Here is a list of what I have tried so far.
Reset PRAM and NVRAM.
Checked battery for bloating (even though that would not cause this problem would only cause it to stick had to replace once already).
Booted into safe mode (logged into seperate admin account I never use problem started again in safe mode after about 30 seconds of using trackpad).
checked trackpad screw (was fine but tried loosening it and tightening slightly to see if it helps.
Turn off, Remove battery, hold power for 5 seconds, replace battery and boot.
Using external mouse exhibits the same behavior (tried both USB and different wireless mice) This makes this problem seem more likely software not hardware
One thing I have not tried is deleteing the plist files for the trackpad I read that fix somewhere although I can not find the link now. If and when it decides to stop again I will try that next. I am A+ certified not ACMT but I can replace anything on it if needed so please mention anything you can think of even hardware. I would rather not restore the OS as I have about 300GB of data and transferring it to one of my servers or external drive would be a pain, time consuming, and I have read it does not solve these types of issues.

Frustrated but still happy Apple user.Well after some further investigation it seems I may have had some malware. I receive a lot of packages and this one seem to have slipped by my spam filter. It's called Mal/JSRedir-J of course I also forgot to re install Sophos Antivirus after I did some software development work and was running strictly through my citrix server which is very secure. *Slaps self in face*.
I am running a thorough scan now but that trojan popped up. I was able to install Sophos after a reboot before it started acting up barely got my password in on install before cursor started flying around the screen.
So far so good. Hopefully it stays that way, and maybe this will help someone else. Virus is not always the first thing to come to mind when I think MAC, and this is my first infection in 4 years -

It is standard for Lion and Mountain Lion.
Reboot the TC to fix it.
If you actually run Lion then you can install 5.6 utility and just go to the disk page and click disconnect all users.. this is usually enough to fix it.. on the previous backup TM hasn't dismounted the sparsebundle correctly and so cannot mount it again.

How can I have contacts on iPhone show up on iPad and MacBook Pro? All are backed up to iCloud.
Is it possible for all contacts to appear on all 3 of my Apple devices regardless of on which device they are entered? I have an iPhone 5, iPad 2 and MacBook Pro; I'd like to see the same contacts on all. All three devices already back up to iCloud. Thanks!
No you haven't misunderstood if you have those settings on. The contacts on your phone should automatically sync to the other devices. They should also be viewable/editable at https://www.icloud.com

time capsule only allows 2 devices at a time as a router. If I am using the iphone and macbook pro, it bumps the roku offline. Any suggestions?
At a guess you have cable internet connection.. please confirm exactly what you have.. two public IPs are allowed by some ISP.. once you use up the two IPs, there are no more..
Make sure the TC is in router mode. And to get it working you probably need to shut off the cable modem.. if it has battery backup remove the battery.. try 5min off .. if not long enough try 20min off. then overnight. The ISP equipment must reset to allow a new MAC address to capture the IP.
If you cannot work it out.. plug in the old router again.. and set the TC to bridge mode.. which I suspect it is in now.. and plug it into the main router.. it should work fine like that. -

To amend what Apple has stated, the System Profiler will indicate you have one of these three MacBook/Pro CPUs:

If you have certain third party routers the update above will not help. In which case, it is recommended that you contact the third party router manufacturer for a firmware update, and find out also if others have your exact same router, and have found a resolution with your issue.
Wireless issues can be caused by the following:
1. Interference on the same wireless channel.
2. Single channel connection from some third party routers not being strong enough to deal with interference. Apple Airport Express, Extreme, and Time capsule wireless routers all support dual channel connections, and also support networking with Windows as well as Mac.
3. Bad router tables in your router.
4. Power surges.
5. Interference from microwaves, or 2.4 Ghz non-cell wireless phones, whose signal is not tempered with channel hopping.
6. Distances less than 2 feet may have many overlapping wireless waves causing interference from the wireless router.
7. Distances greater than 150 feet from the wireless router.
8. Walls with numerous pipes, improper ground wiring, file cabinets with numerous papers between the computer and the router.
9. Run the hardware test that came with your computer, it may indicate an issue on the logicboard which could also impact your wireless card.
10. Improper security on your wireless connection. Setting up a WPA2 connection is preferred over WEP, which is preferred over no password.
11. 802.11n is a draft standard, meaning not all routers support it the same way.
12. Data corruption in the wireless cache settings, caused by improper system maintenance:

It is standard Mountain Lion error due to the networking ability which is comparable to wet string. (actually that was lion.. it dried out some with Mountain Lion.. higher in the hills perhaps!!)
