IDCS5 jumps around

Hi,
When working with IDCS5 I find that it is extremely sensitive to the mouse and quite often jerks to a new position. No other software has this problem with my Apple mouse. Is there a specific Adobe preference somewhere for mouse sensitivity.
I realize most people don't compose on ID but I place photos and then work in the spaces left over, it's quite disconcerting to lose concentration and reposition a jerky page.
Also, it seems Adobe is attempting to steer people to use the bridge by making the full screen the size go to full screen rather than inside the control panels,  is there a new key stroke combo for this? (Besides command option 0).
Garrett

Glad to know I'm not the only one irritated by this irksome decline in performance.
My impression is that internal tweaks to make the bridge dominion are compromising performance. The program controls that promote use of the bridge by setting the full screen to obscure the native OS support in favor of the bridge is most likely the cause for reduced performance and the jerky screen.
The older generation Adobe attitude was to do everything possible to make a smooth work experience for the customer, it sought efficiency and would never have released a jerky interface requiring constant extra steps of screen resizing or an entire extra screen control bar with an extra logo as its main feature.
Cordially respectful of your long experience and help,
Garrett

  • My magic mouse is now jumping around every time I pick it up / put it down. It started in the last few days. Any ideas?

    Hi all -
    I looked around the forums and couldn't find an existing solution...
    This afternoon, I started using my Magic Mouse again, after about a week without turning it on. The mouse now jumps around erratically and sends spurious click commands - menus pop up all over the place, links are clicked, apps opened, etc. Usually it takes the form of the mouse jumping 1-8" to the left, and it seems proportional to the impact - if I put it down normally, it jumps about 4" to the left. If I put it down a little harder then normal, it usually jumps to the upper left corner.
    This ONLY seems to happen when I pick up the mouse to reposition it on the mouse pad. If I slide it smoothly along the pad, then there don't seem to be any issues.
    It has been in my backpack, and was turned on (I realized this afternoon when I took it out), so I wondered if it might have been the batteries. I checked them, and they're fine. It also had trouble connecting, though, and I had to cycle both the mouse and BlueTooth on the MBP.
    I also saw several posts here that said it might be the optics, so I tried blowing those out, but they look crystal clear.
    Just to be safe, I also updated the Wacom tablet drivers to the latest, no luck.
    MBP (July 2011) 15" i7, upgraded to 8 G RAM
    Lion 10.7.4
    Magic Mouse
    Wacom Intuos 5 tablet
    no external monitors
    It's possible this started when I installed the Wacom drivers, since it 'feels' kinda like using a tablet in absolute mode, rather than mouse mode - but with the mouse hardware. I have not tried swapping out the mouse for another one, nor tried this mouse with another Mac. I can try those in the next few days when I get an opportunity, but figured I'd ask in the meantime.
    I'm suspicious of either the Wacom tablet (but I can't imagine there would be a problem, as SO many people would have experienced it already).
    I'm also suspicious that maybe something has been jiggled loose inside the mouse, but have no idea how to tell.
    Can anyone save me a trip to the (distant) genius bar?
    Thanks!
    Aaron

    hey try a smc reset
    EDIT (smc reset
    Shut down the computer.
    Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
    On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
    Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
    Press the power button to turn on the computer.
    Note: The LED on the MagSafe power adapter may change states or temporarily turn off when you reset the SMC.)
    if that doesnt help look at replacing the batteries in your magic mouse and try it then
    if the issue still presists take it into a apple store and they can test it there to see whats up

  • I am frustrated with how my cursor jumps around while typing.  How can I make the arrow follow the cursor so this doesn't happen?

    Macbook Pro with OSX Yosemite:  I am frustrated that when using Word for Mac, the cursor keeps jumping around all over the page.  How can I make the pointer follow the cursor so this stops?

    Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

  • OSX update 10.10.2 causes mouse to jump around and text to be highlighted randomly in Dreamweaver CC 2014

    OSX update 10.10.2 causes mouse to jump around and text to be highlighted randomly in Dreamweaver CC. When trying to click on a specific line of code in a js file the cursor ends up in a different place in the script and several lines of code highlighted. Clicking again jumps the mouse to a different position and even more lines of code highlighted and some characters rearranged, breaking the lines of code. Very frustrating.

    Preran,
    I am having the same issue. I have a MBP connected to 2 x Dell 27" monitors over Mini DisplayPort to HDMI cables. Once I updated to OS X 10.10.2 this cursor highlight/jumping around issue only occurs on the connected monitors. If I move the program to the main laptop display the issue goes away. It does not require me to restart the program or the machine to make it work correctly. One way I am able to identify the issue is if I go to the line numbers in code like I wanted to select multiple lines - in the one that works correctly, the cursor turns into a white version where the tip of the cursor points to the right. When it is wrong, the cursor stays black and will only have the tip point to the left. Its just another way I identified if it was working cause I tried uninstalling DW and reinstalling - didn't work. Reset preferences as you discussed - no go. And I used other editors like IntelliJ and Adobe Edge Code - all of which work fine and don't display this issue.
    I tried the preferences reset you suggest and it doesn't work. I have another machine with OS X 10.10.1 on it and this issue is not there on any monitor. Any help with this ASAP as it pretty much stops you from being able to do any editing especially with longer pages as it consistently wants to page up when you select anything and if you then click again in another area it tries to move the highlighted code to that new spot.
    Update: I have a USB Microsoft Arch touch mouse connected (always worked just fine). When I go to place my cursor at some point in the code it causes the highlight flicker. If I switch over and use the built in trackpad, then I can place the cursor without the highlight issue. When trying to select multiple lines or sections of code, that still see's the highlight, page up and move of code issues regardless of input type.

  • The cursor jumps around on my macbook pro. it happens all the time when  i am typing and suddenly the cursor is at a previous spot and i am typing away. i am not using a mouse but i am also not accidentally hitting my trackpad. someone please help!

    my cursor jumps around when i'm typing. it randomly lands in a previous part of the text. i do not use a mouse. i am decinitely NOT accudentally hitting the trackpad. it happens enough that i am starting to hate my fairly new macbook pro. i tried turning off bluetooth but it still happens. the strangest part is i cant find other complaints of this happening, at least recently. anyone have ideas?

    If you have a fairly new Mac...

  • Does anyone have an issue with the adobe files jumping around?

    I recently purchased a new Mac Pro running Mountain Lion and installed the latest CS6 upgrade. I've been working with with for a few weeks and notice that while I'm in adobe files (mostely InDesign) the pages will jump around or scroll without prompted.  If I zoom in to a specific image on a page, it will jump to a different page in the document.  I've noticed it with Acrobat also. Not so much with Photoshop, Dreamweaver or Illustrator.  Has anyone else experienced the same? Any advice?
    I'm not sure if it's truly adobe related, my magic mouse or the new OS?

    This seems to be a generic problem not only with InDesign but with many of the Creative Suite/Creative Cloud apps, namely the ones with large pasteboards surrounding the working area. I would very much like Adobe to implement a preference opportunity to disable Magic Mouse finger scrolling locally in these apps. IMHO, moving the pasteboard around is best done with space+click.
    It would be great if there were some kind of product enhancement tip link on Adobe's website, but I haven't found any.

  • Photoshop Elements 10 Help with image jumping around the screen

    I'm using a trial version of Elements 10 that I'm interested in buying it but 50% of the time when I click on an image so that I can click and drag it around the screen, it jumps off the screen.  I have been using Elements 6 and never had this problem and it is super frustrating.  I'm using a laptop and thought maybe it was my touchpad so i got a mouse and it is still doing the same thing.  Is there a way to fix this problem?  I will stick with Elements 6 if this can't be fixed as it takes me twice as long to edit images since the layers are jumping around and I keep have to kit the "undo" button.

      The editor saved prefs often get corrupted. If resetting all tools doesn’t work you may need to rebuild the editor preferences to resolve any conflicts.
    Hold down the Ctrl+Shift+Alt keys and simultaneously click on the Edit button on the welcome screen. Release the three keys and look behind the welcome screen by closing it. Or hold down the keys whilst double clicking on PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe
    You should see a pop up box with the words: Delete Adobe Photoshop Elements Settings File?
    Click on Yes
    Close down Elements and re-open it in the normal way - then wait whilst it rebuilds the preferences.

  • Text jumping around in InDesign CS5 attributed to Magic Mouse!

    I am a long time user of Adobe software (beginning with PageMaker) and have been using InDesign CS5 since shortly after it came out.
    Most of my work involves display ads and catalogues for sporting goods stores, so there is a 'ton' of image and text manipulation.
    About 6 weeks ago I started having this problem with text and images jumping around.  It was horrible!
    Anyway, long story short…it was my 'new' Magic Mouse which I purchased the end of Sept.  I went back to using my original wireless mouse and 'no more problems'!
    I went through a very long, drawn out process to get to the bottom of the problem.  Anyone experiencing this problem and using a Magic Mouse you might want to try going back to an older mouse.
    Good Luck!

    Thanks but this has been a known problem for a long long time.

  • Selecting code in DWCC makes the text jump around

    Just upgraded to Dreamweaver CC and have found an annoying "feature" that makes the code jump around when selecting text in long wrapped code.
    For example if there is a long single line javascript code and you select somewhere in the middle, it instantly pushes that line to the next line similar to a line break (although it doesn't actually inserts a break)
    Is this a feature that can be turned off? Or I wonder if this is an isolated issue with my Mavericks install where reinstalling it will help.
    Thanks in advance everyone.

    Hi Vharis,
    Here is a video of the issue. I have turned off tag highlighting in this video but it is affect with or without it.
    I am using DW13.1 Build 6443 on OS X 10.9.
    This issue does not occur when code wrapping is turned off.
    This bug can be repeated on any code or text that has no spaces and is wrapped. Below is an example of Javascript and plain text.
    Example of single line Javascript:
    Example of long text with no spaces:

  • How does one best make a button to jump around a PDF (interactive) on an ipad.

    I have been trying to figure out how to make an Interactive PDF document that could be loaded into an iPad.
    We need one: Buttons to jump around the document for navigation purposes.  A button would be eaiser to press on an iPad and if each page is designed the same people will know where "main menu" and the subsection buttons are and should be able to bounch back and forth in the document pretty easily.
    It seems that with Indesign CS5 you can make goto buttons but when you try and export them... Acrobat will not honor the goto commands so your left for dead.
    Yes it will work nicely with export to SWF and work marviously with a flash output but there's no way to look at flash content on the iPad.
    So I've found stuff on the web talking about bookmarks and text anchors but it seems like there are limitations with that as well.
    What confuses me further is when 3rd party PDF viewers claim they can use goto page number.
    http://www.appligent.com/talkingpdf-pdfontheiphone
    see the discription for GoodReader. (it has and ipad version)
    So is this an indesign issue?  An Acrobat 9 pro issue?  I don't get it.
    It seems so simple.  Just want to button that would take you to say page 1.  and on page 1 have a button that takes you to page 4.
    Does someone have any advise on how to create a PDF that could do this?
    SWF is very cool.  But unfortunatly Steve J's personal vendettia with Flash is making it hell for simple users....

    woodwing seems to have a nice toolset to make it easier for sure... but I'm not sure that is the correct direction for
    us.  As we don't want to have to submit anything to Apple.  Our needs are for internal use only and we would not be creating content for the public.
    I don't follow the ePup process fully...  PDF's we can load right onto the iPad.  It's a real shame about flash not working as we can make some very slick flash content right out of indesign with little effort.  (maybe the direction should be a Flash to HTML5 converter?  Goto page commands assigned to buttons would be wonderfull if they worked but when you export the doc to PDF Acrobat complains that it is not compatible.  When we export to flash it works like a charm on a PC.
    Haven't found a good gudie for bookmarks yet... and if that would give us buttons on each page to move the user back and forth through the document.

    Having an intermittent issue where my iMac blanks out on me. On restarting I get several bands running down the screen with pixels jumping around within the bands, then the white screen of death and nothing... This happens intermittently and usually restarts OK. Happened again three days ago and wouldn't restart for two days (again the bands/pixels etc) but now operating fine? Any ideas whats wrong with my iMac and what the solution may be? Also gets very hot from time to time, particularly if I'm playing music/watching youtube/movies for extended periods. Mac is 3.5 years old, running OS X 10.6.8, processor 3.4 GHz i7 memory 8GB 1333 MHz DDR3

  • Source code jumps around when re-opening page?

    Is the following a common problem with Dreamwver CS4 Source Code view?
    In an effort to make the code read nice and neat, like everyone else I try to indent and nest my code. For example:
    <div>
              <ul>
                        <li>one</li>
                        <li>one</li>
                        <li>one</li>
              </ul>
    </div>
    But, upon saving a file and then later reopening it, I notice that in places the file does not keep my intended spaced nested layout i.e. the code jumps around on a line and I lose my neat indent spacing. For example:
    <div>
              <ul>
          <li>one</li>
                        <li>one</li>
                        <li>one</li>
                 </ul>
    </div>
    I have tried to set my preferences > code format > tab size to 10 to produce a larger indent which has improved the problem a little but not fixed it.
    Others must have experienced this frustrating problem.
    Is there anything I can do to fix it, like set further preferences to give me complete control over the page?
    Thanks in advance.

    Oh can it? I will look into this thanks Ken.
    With regards the CSS, I found out about it on Lynda.com training videos.
    - Dreamweaver CS4 with CSS Essential Training > Chapter 13: Testing and Deploying CSS > Formatting code for deployment
    The process is as follows:
    On Dreamweaver CS4 click Edit > Preferences > Code Format > CSS (button)
    On the CSS Source Format Options screen, de-select the "Each property on a seperate line" check box and click "OK" and then "OK".
    Then on your CSS page, in the left side panel, click "Format Source Code" and the "Apply Source Formatting" selection.
    The code will then condense for deployment.
    You can reverse the process just as easily going backwards.
    If anyone else has any ideas on code jumping around on a line please do let me know. Thanks.

  • My iPad mini is unstable.  It will suddenly start jumping around apps and go to the search feature where random keys flash.  I've restored it to factory twice.   No change.  Any ideas?

    My iPad mini is unstable.  It will suddenly start jumping around apps, flashing, won't stay on app I was using.  I've restored to factory twice.  No luck.  Any ideas?

    I have had exactly the same problem now with two mini iPads.  Everything was tried; 1) restarting; 2) restoring factory settings etc.  NONE worked.  Eventually Apple agreed to replace it.  I have had the replacement now for two to three months and exactly the same thing is happening again. So off to Apple tomorrow to get another replacement.
    I am quite a heavy user of the iPad so wonder if this is something to do with the fault.
    It is so frustrating as sometimes reset works, and then after 10/20/30/40 minutes (you pick) it goes unstable again.

  • Mouse cursor jumping around

    My cursor on my MacBook Pro at times jumps around and the screen size changes without warning. Also, the screen will jump from safari to desktop without warning. I have changed settings in system preferences back to the most basic settings and this has seemed to solve some problems.

    I had a similar problem with a wired mighty mouse at a former job, and a current co-worker is having this happen with her wired mighty mouse as well.

  • Mouse pointer jumping around the screen

    My mouse pointer has just started jumping around the screen. It vibrates and slowly moves down the screen even if I am not touching it. I have cleaned the sensor but that has not helped. I unplugged it and the pointer still jumped around.
    Any ideas what might be causing this as I have not seen quite this problem on other discussions.

    HI,
    That's interesting... restart your iMac. See if that makes a difference.
    Also, do you have anything nearby that might cause interference, like a cell phone or graphics tablet?
    May sound crazy, but dust and lint build up on a mouse pad can cause erratic cursor behavior.
    You could try deleting this file.
    com.apple.driver.AppleHIDMouse.plist
    /Users/YourName/Library/Preferences. Drag that file to the Trash, empty the Trash and restart your iMac.
