IDE CDROM Freeze PC for a while

Hi people, I resolved my random freezes with a temporary friend's power supply but still having an strange issue: when I insert a CD in my IDE CDROM and this can't read it at first time the PC freeze about 4-5 seconds repeatedly until it can read the CD (sometimes I have to eject the CD). I've already installed Via 4in1, Via IDE Driver, and all recent drivers. I have HDD in master primary channel and CDROM in master secondary channel, and one old SCSI Burner. Any ideas?. Thanks.

What PSU do you have now, and what are its specs? As you say yourself that might be the problem.
If it is not a perfectly new CDR you should perhaps disable DMA and enable I think it is called Detection notice for it in Device Manager and or in BIOS. An alternative solution could be to remove it in Device Manager and reboot.
SCSI burner? If it is a CDRW it likes to be Master.

If you are using Safari then try clearing its cache : Settings > Safari > Clear Cache (and Clear History)
If that doesn't work then try closing Safari completely and then re-open it : from the home screen (i.e. not with Safari 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Safari app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
A third option is a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

I am experiencing a quite odd issue... I have the most basic, natively-distributed screensaver for my MacBook Pro. Lately, when the screensaver runs for a while, the mac freezes... I have to shut it down by pressing continuously the Power On/Off button... Then, it has some difficulty to 'find' the Hard Disk... The 'swirl' icon in the grey screen freezes as well... So I have to turn it off, wait for a couple of minutes, then turn it on again and... voila! It works... I reset the PRAM, nothing has changed... Any ideas please? I am covered by Apple Care 3-year warranty; is it worth to taking it to the Apple Store in London? Many thanks!

It could also be a heat issue. Macs are designed to performa safety shutdown if the temps approcah a level that could damage something. For the CPU in a silver-keyboard MBP, its around 100C/212F.
Like you. I try to run simple 2D savers that don't overwork the CPU and GPU but even they can cause some heat. Is the bottom of the case on a hard surface so air can flow beneath? Is the hinge area on the back edge unobstructed? The back edge is an important heat outlet.
Have you used Activity Monitor (or "AM"--it's in Applications > Utilities) to see if a background process is eating up processor cycles and therefore making more heat? If you've not used AM before, be sure to change its' "Show" window (upper right edge of the application window) from the default of "My Processes" to "All Processes" to get the big picture.

I am a new mac user and have a 15 macbook pro (non retina display). I am having an issue with safari "freezing" ...it will work fine for a while and then I will open a new tab and attempt a website that won't load and after that it seems no website will.

The issue I am having is that I will be in safari and it will work perfect for a while and then i will open a new tab and attempt another website and it will either be extremely slow or will give the error that it cannot connect to the server, however, when i run diagnostics my internet is fine. The only solution i have found is to reboot and geeksquad has been unable to replicate the problem while connected to my computer to try to do so. Does anyone have any suggestions or anyone else with this problem? If you have a "fix" please try layman's terms because again I have no idea about macs haha. Thanks,

My ipod classic 160gb will be playing fine then it sometimes freezes up or start shuffling through the songs not playing at all. After i reset it works ok for a while then same thing. Bought this so i could control through my steering wheel/radio.

My ipod classic 160gb will be playing fine and then freeze up (unable to move around in it at all) and i have to reset it. This happens constantly whether in my car or when i listen at work. After i reset it works ok for a while then eventually requires another reset.
Another problem is that it will be playing fine and then start shuffling through songs without playing them. The songs that get shuffled work fine in the itunes program but not on the device. A reset does not correct the problem with these particular songs.
Also, sometimes when it is working and not freezing up or shuffling through, it will appear that a song is playing (in fact it says "now playing"), the song titlte is scrolling, but the song progression bar does not move. The count up in front of the bar stays at 0:00, and the count down at the end of the bar stays at the song length minutes not counting down. After I reset, it works fine and all the songs will play.
The reason I got this thing was because i can control it through my steering wheel/radio while i'm driving. I previously had a Zune 80gb which i'm glad I held on to. I have over 6600 songs (so I'm obviously a serious music listener and obviously frustrated), but only about 10 songs were downloaded through itunes, the rest I either ripped or downloaded from other site. From what i've been reading it sounds like there's a lot of ipod owners out there experiencing similar problems. Does anyone have any suggestions to resolve these issues for me and everyone else? I got my first iphone 8 months ago, then the ipod and was considering an ipad. But in light of my ipod issues.....

I finally resolved my problem after spending way too much time on it. I simply handed my 160GB iPod to my husband to put his fav Stones & Beatles songs on and I went back to my 80GB Microsoft Zune which has never disappointed me.
After spending so much time trying to figure this out I did finally take it back to Apple Store who performed a diagnostic and found there was a problem with the device. They replaced it with a refurbished one which has similar issues. All I wanted to do was listen to my music. Was that too much to ask? So I am happy to be free of this problematic device. No more Apple for me!!

You best bet at getting the most uncorrupted data out of that disk, is to stop using it until you get a new disk that is at least twice as big as that one. The reason is that when you get a new disk, you want to try to do a full disk image in one go and get as much data out as possible before more data corruption occurs or the disk stops working at all.
The twice as large requirement is because you can then take your time to extract the files you want from the image and have enough free space to store them. After that make a backup strategy if you don't have one yet.

Has far as I know, both Current_Pending_Sector and Offline_Uncorrectable attributes start out at zero and 1) increase when there is a problem with a sector, 2) decrease when the problem is solved either by overwriting the affected sectors or when the sectors get reallocated thus decreasing the count, which should return to zero when there are no more sectors with problems. This implies that the count should never exceed the total number of user addressable sectors. Like I said, I have never seen any disk where those attributes didn't make sense, if those attributes weren't defined they wouldn't be reported I suppose.

I use my iPad almost exclusively in landscape orientation and I've had no problems with the screen rotating. So this is merely a guess on my part. It may be that you have too many other things going on in the background and I stress maybe.
You could try quitting some apps to see if that helps. Double tap the home button to see the active/recent apps across the bottom. If you see that you have many apps in there try this. Hold down on an app icon until they all wiggle, then tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the icon to close the app. Tap the home button and the apps stop wiggling.
You say that rebooting solves the issue so you could try this and it might help.

N8 - Recording video freeze for a while

My problem is that when I record video with my N8, in 1 of 3 times that I use, the video get freeze for a while, and that affect the final result. I put a video to help you understan it better (sorry for my description and my English, but it isn't my nativa spoken language )

En the 6 second the image freeze a while, can you see it? It happens lot of times, and I made hard-resets, upgrades of firmware...all I can imagine trying to repair, but I couldn't get any result

Without system information and other details nobody can tell you anything. This could simply be some online feature like TypeKit taking a moment to check the connection or whatever...

I apologize for my confusion on your question. I find that depending on the principal of each photo and my target audience to determine the time frame for each photo. It seems most people get impatient with viewing one photo for more than 1-2 seconds if the photo is not complex.
If there are several things that interests the viewers in any one image, they want to look at it a second or two longer. If the movie of images is a training aid, the images may need to be more than 3 seconds. For intro's, or a trailer for a training movie, no longer than 1-2 seconds.
That was a long answer to say, generally speaking, I find 3 seconds to be an average time length.

Java runs at the serverside, while you need a clientside solution. Javascript is perfectly suitable. Pass the current maxInactiveInterval() value to a Javascript variable and write a function around it. You can use for example the onkeypress attribute of the body to clear the timeout counter.
