IDE plug coming loose

I've got an MSI mobo KT3 Ultra mobo for AthlonXP's, and I'm having a problem where every once in a while the IDE plug gets loose where it plugs into the motherboard. I've got both my HD's plugged in on this cable that's getting loose.
Any ideas for securing the IDE plug onto the board better? I haven't tried another IDE cable yet; I suppose that's the first thing to do.
Also, this is kind of weird: if my computer is plugged in and turned off, if I plug an IDE cable into the motherboard the computer starts booting up. Anyone else experienced this problem?
Thanks

A small dab of dow silcone sealant on the connector should do it nicely  On your other question, the 5v sb voltage is being triggered, so thats not weird. 8o

  • First release of new DPL Assistant, an IDE plug-in

We are pleased to announce the first version of a new component. "DPL
Assistant" is an IDE plug-in that is intended to help developers use,
and learn to use, the Direct Persistence Layer of Oracle Berkeley DB
Java Edition. The DPL Assistant is initially provided as an Eclipse
    plug-in.
This first version of the plug-in performs validation of DPL
annotations in Java source code. Each time you save changes from the
Java source code editor, the validator analyzes annotations (@Entity,
@Persistent, etc.) and reports any errors or warnings that it can
detect, in a similar way to how the IDE reports Java compilation
    errors.
Of course there are many more things that the DPL Assistant could do.
We are requesting your feedback. Please see the Possible Future
Enhancements section at the end of this message and send us your
thoughts by replying to this forum thread.
    Installation
You can install the DPL Assistant using the Eclipse update manager.
Start by adding our update site to your configuration:
http://download.oracle.com/berkeley-db/eclipse/The DPL Assistant was developed on Eclipse version 3.3, and has been
tested with both 3.3 and 3.4. It of course requires at least Java 1.5
(since it works with Java annotations).
    Usage
Once installed, the DPL Assistant may be enabled on a per-Java-project
basis. From the Project Explorer, right-click on the name of a Java
project, and choose Properties from the pop-up menu. In the
Properties dialog, choose the "DPL Assistant" page, and turn on the
    "Use DPL Assistant" check-box.
Now you can create a Java source file and type in some Java code,
using DPL annotations. Whenever you save your changes in the Java
source code editor, the validation tool checks the code, and adds
error/warning markers for any problems that it finds.
If you have your Eclipse workspace set up to build automatically, you
only need to save your changes. (See the Project -> Build
Automatically menu item.) Otherwise you need to do an explicit Build
    to run the validator.
When the tool reports a problem, you should be able to see a marker in
the margin on the left-hand side of the editor, and if you show the
Eclipse "Problems" view you should see it there too. Also, a few --
but not all -- of the problem types also appear as squiggly underlines
    in the source code.
As a simple example, if you were to type in (and Save) the following
    code:
        @Entity public class A {
            String foo;
}you should see an error marker, complaining that "Entity class lacks a
    primary key".
    Known Issues
There is one significant known issue: if you have multiple Java
projects in your Eclipse workspace, with entity or persistent classes
from one project referring to classes in another project, then
sometimes DPL Assistant can get confused. In such a case, it may fail
to notice changes in one project that ought to cause a refresh of the
validation for classes in another project, resulting in the retention
of stale results from a previous validation.
If this happens, a simple workaround is to manually request a clean
build of the Java project (from the menu bar: Project -> Clean ...).
    Possible Future Enhancements
At this point these are only some ideas, and do not represent any sort
of commitment or definite plan. We would especially like to get
opinions and feedback from the community. What features do you think
    would be useful?
    * the DPL Assistant is initially provided as an Eclipse plug-in, but
we could add support for other IDE's, such as NetBeans or
JDeveloper. Again, this depends on the level of interest from the
community. Please let us know what would be useful to you.
    * instead of merely complaining about errors, in many cases it could
fix the code automatically. Sometimes there are several possible
fixes, depending on the developer's intent. These could be
presented to the user in a multiple-choice pop-up menu.
    * "content assist": instead of waiting until an error has been made,
it is sometimes possible to help the user get it right the first
time. In the same way that the IDE helps in writing Java
expressions (e.g., presenting a multiple-choice list of known
methods, given an object reference of a known class), it could
present a list of valid completions during typing of annotations.
    * wizards: instead of having to type entity classes by hand, a wizard
could lead you through the process of defining the desired fields,
and then generate the basic Java source code automatically.
By analyzing an application's overall schema, a wizard might also
help generate code for a test harness. Or, by comparing the current
schema to a previous schema extracted from an old database
environment, it might help generate conversion code ("mutations").
    * ultimately, it would be sweet to be able to render an abstract
graphical "picture" (like a UML diagram) from an existing schema,
and even (conversely) to support interactive drawing of such a
diagram from which entity and persistent classes could then be
    generated automatically.

  • Bad Power Connection

It appears that my connection between the mac mini and power source is poor. It effects my monitor. If I move the power supply the smallest move (sometime it seems just looking at it wrong) causes the power to the mini mac to stop. Has any one else had this happen? This is like our 10th mac and never had this problem. It also seems to take forever to correct. Thanks.

I am still having a problem with the connection between the mac and plug coming loose easily. Any ideas of why this is happening and what I can do to correct? As I am working, I will loose the connection. I have to unplug, plug it in again and then restart. Sometimes I have to do this several times.
Is there an issue with the Mac mini?

  • Exploit? - My iPod Shuffle 4G USB cable has IC's in its Type-A plug end

I purchased a cable for a Shuffle 4G and as a result of the cover from its Type-A USB connector-end coming loose I noticed some unexpected and potentially alarming chips installed on a PCB concealed within the connector cover.
This may be quite normal but to allay any fears I would like to know if the iPod Shuffle 4G's sync cable is 'active' - that is it understood that it will contain some electronics.
I want to assure myself that this cable isn't a USB Exploit device.

It's probably legitimate.  I've taken apart the little "dock" for the 2nd generation Shuffle, and it contains a circuit board with a dozen or so components.  They appear to be mostly passive (resistors and capacitors), not ICs, so it may not be "active" in the usual electronics sense of the word, but it clearly isn't just a plug and some wire.  Thus, I would not be surprised to find electronics in the 4th generation USB cable.
Think about what the cable has to do.  One end presents a standard USB "A" plug interface, with standard power and data in/out impedances and voltage levels.  The other end plugs into a jack on the Shuffle that is a headphone output most of the time, and which might actually be playing audio at the time the USB cable is plugged in.  So a certain amount of electrical isolation between the two interfaces is a good idea.

  • My Iphone 4, keeps loosing sound - including when I have head phones in.

There is no sound to make a call, playing music or when im on an App. The only solution so far that ive found is to keep turning the phone off/on.
Ive tried the headphone idea, plugging it in and back out again, however there is no sound coming from the headphones either. Im baffled to what it could be!!
In the last 24hrs its happened twice and it first started yesterday. After I sorted the problem out this afternoon it worked fine all day until just now.
Has anyone got any advice? Has this happened to anyone before.
Really greatful for any help on this matter.
    Thanks

Basic troubleshooting steps clearly outlined in the User Guide are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new device.
If you have gone through ALL the above steps and are still having problems, then you'll need to bring your phone into Apple for evaluation.

  • Finding jdk version in day communique IDE

    Hi All
This is my first post in this forum. So anything silly please ignore .
before going to my question will tell you what IDE am working on.My IDE is from Day( from Communique). Its a CMS application. It provides its own IDE.
    now coming to my doubt.
I edited a java code from it.When i tried to compile with some jdk5 related features, it was throwing some errors saying identifier expected. When i try to view the java version it gave as '1.5'.I got the java version by using String classPath = System.getProperty("java.version").But my doubt is how to find the jdk version.Am little bit confused about how to get what version of java compiler it uses.I coudnt find out where to change the jdk version in that IDE.so it would be nice if i can solve it within my java code itself.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Note:My doubt is general and nothing related to this IDE.Just for additional information i gave my IDE info.
    thanks in advance

    Thanks for the reply Praveen.
But i used the systemProp in different way earlier itself.Like System.getProperty("whatever property name i want to look for").But this didnt fetch the desired result.I want to know what version of java compiler my application is using. If i try the way u said i wud get version of jre and not jdk.Am not sure whether we can get the version of jdk from java. But just if there is any other way you can help me out.
    thanks.

  • IDE #1 ERROR on start up Satellite Pro Series 2100

Hi... I am getting a IDE #1 ERROR displayed on starting the computer. My CD/DVD drive doesn't seem to be recognised (In Device Manager the drive is not shown) and certainly doesn't work at all. I have not installed a new CD/Drive drive, it's the original factory supplied.
Also, another clue is when I press any of the dvd control buttons on front panel the following pop-up window appears:
"The drive setting in Toshiba controls is wrong. so the audio/video control buttons won't work. Please select the correct drive letter.for the internal CD/DVD drive"
However on the drop-down box there is no drive letter to select!
Any help would be gratefully receieved. Many thanks, Matt

    HI Matt,
it seems that your IDE Controller is damaged. For playing safe you should recover the notebook with the Toshiba recovery Image and if the failure occures on a fresh new system, the IDE controller is bad!
It could be possible that only the IDE cable is loose, but to kow that it would be better to bring the notebook to a Toshiba Service Partner!

  • Loosing time information

I am having strange issue as I am loosing time information for date filed when I am executing interface where source and target is Oracle11G databse using IKM Oracle incremental update KM. I am not directly mapping my source "Date" field but I am using it in one of my join. for example.
    To_Char(Table1.Creation_date,'HH24MI')=Table2.column1
But its not populating any data beacue there is no row to fullfill for this criteria. When I am running query against the C$_ table like Select To_Char(C$_Table1.Creation_date,'HH24MI') from C$_Table1 I am getting 0000 so its loosing the time information when its loading data into c$_table. Any idea why it loose the time information(Hour, min, sec) in the date file where To_Char(C$_SourceTable.Creation_date,'HH24MI') give me the correct value from source table.
    Thanks

    1. check the data type for target column
    2. what's the mapping for the target column?
    3. check the syntax of creation of C$_Table1. What is the C$_Table1.Creation_date data type.

  • Headphone socket might be loose?

It appears to me that the headphone socket is looser than other music players. The headphone jack can easily be taken out with minimal effort. I have my ipod on a neckstrap and when i'm wearing it around my neck sometimes the headphone plug becomes loose even though there is plenty of wire if u get what i mean. This is irritating because when this happens the ipod automatically pauses the song and you have to press play to play the track after you plug in the earphones again. Has anybody else had this problem or is my ipods earphone socket faulty?
      Windows XP

I have had the same problem for a couple of months now with my 4th Gen 20GB. It's very irritating. Sometimes it pauses all the time and I have to hold my iPod + wire in my hand to stop it. Other days it seems to be fine. I've finally decided I need to do something about it and am going to send it off for repair. I've had it for about 6 months.

  • Sim Card Clip Loose on Asha 311

I have a new Asha 311 - still under warranty, buit that takes too long - where the SIM cardholder has come loose. It has two parts; a fixed under-side, with brass coloured metal, and a plastic template in the middle for the six SIM contacts. That has a hinged metal flap that closes down over the card and locks when pushed forward.
It started with the hinged part coming loose, but if I got my sim straight and carefully maneuvored the - now loose -hinged locking piece, it would still lock the SIM nicely. Then, yesterday, for no good reason at all, the whole bottom piece came loose as well. Beleieve it or not, with some Blu-Tak (Prestick) I even managed to hold that and the sim in place for an operational phone, but at the slightest movement the sim dislodges and the phone wont work.
Nothing appears to be broken, so I'm guessing it'sall funny clips etc. I was hoping someone that had a similarexperienece might know something about DIY fixing this.

    Hi KitLi,
Welcome to the Nokia Discussion Boards and thanks for posting!

  • Loose rca connection with monster cable

Just bought a universal dock to hook up to my home stereo receiver. And a Monster iCable for iPod Stereo. The RCA plugs are loose as a goose! They don't fit snugly into the receiver input connections. Weird. I thought this was plug & play.

RCA cables have this happen sometimes. Either return the cable to where you bought it and ask for a different one. Or you can pinch the ring to make it fit a little tighter. You can see where the splits are that allow it to expand when plugged in. These get loose. Just use your fingers and pinch it back so there is not as much gap in the ring.

  • 160gb iPod Classic, Screen No Longer Working

    Hello,
So I have a 160gb ipod classic. I dropped it a few weeks ago by accident and now the screen does not work. No backlight, no lightup, no nothing. It will sync up to my PC just fine and if I plug headphones in and navigate to a song by memory it will play. I hoped it was just an issue with the connector coming loose inside the ipod. So i took it all apart since I got it in like 2010 and was out of warrenty. Unfortunatly, to my dismay, the issue was not the connection to the logic board. After doing a little more research I took it apart even more to see if there was a tear in the lcd connecter anywhrere, there wasn't. So I put it all back together and I was still getting the same issue. Great. My next thought was to get a new lcd. I had an ipod classic 80gb in like 2007 with a broken hard drive so I did some research and found they were the exact same lcd. So instead of buying a new lcd, I just took it out of that one and replaced it in the 160gb ipod. It worked!! well... sort of. I still get nothing on the display screen, but now, when I touch the clickwheel, the backlight lights up. Again, I can select songs from memory and it syncs up fine, but I cannot see anything on the screen. So thats a start, isnt it? I'm not sure. I tried to restore it in iTunes but kept getting an "unknown error 1514." Did some reserch on that and wasnt very helpful.
If anyone could help me out anymore that would be great. I am kind of at an end for what else to do. I'm out of ideas and after looking through this forum and others I have not found a real solution. ANY advice would be helpful. Thanks so much!
I am seriously considering ditching hard drive based media players, as the second they get dropped its all over. But I love being able to carry around all 100+ gigs of music and 30+ gigs of movies with me in one small device. if they made a 128 gig flah memory itouch id be all over it...

    Hi, Meg.
I've contacted Apple as you suggested and they have already taken care of the problem.
Thank you for your help and reply.
