Idea for product development...

I have recently bought an iPod nano and have rated a good 60% of the music on it. But on iTunes I have rated very little! I find it RIDICULOUS that Apple have not incoorporated a feature into every iPod and iTunes program that syncs your ratings from both libraries. For example:- When I rate a song on my iPod say 4/5 it will automatically go into My Top Rated on my iPod - Great! so when I play that playlist, its brilliant. But when I go back to my mac and play My Top Rated from my iTunes library it only includes the songs I have rated whilst sat at my computer! The whole thing about an ipod is that you get out and about with your music and with all the features of itunes you can manage it on the move... But when you manage it, it should automatically manage the itunes library as well!
What I am suggesting therefore is, is that Apple introduces a script that says, when I plug in my iPod, all the songs on there that match to songs on my iTunes library, it automatically rates them in my iTunes library. Otherwise, what is the point of rating them while im on the move, other than to have a great my top rated playlist which is stuck on my ipod!
It would be a simple enough procedure which could be included in the next itunes update and next ipod update, if necessary which would organise all the ratings on the ipod to match those in the itunes library. Easy. I personally dont understand why it hasn't been done yet!
Anybody agree? It would make life with iTunes and an iPod so much easier....

Okay so you are the first person to say that works because I even phone apple and spoke with an assistant about it and she said there is no way it can work etc. I will try doing that and see if it works, hopefully i dont lose all the songs i rated on my iPod...
Has anyone else rated songs on their iPod and sync'ed with their library so the songs in itunes are rated the same as on the ipod?
And does anybody else agree that if you rate a song on your iPod and connect it to your computer it should rate the same song in your itunes library automatically?

SAP PS has good Integration with PP and FI CO modules. So goes well along the ETO scenario.
The normal process is that Project is created and goes in to design phase , where we design product as per customer's requirement . Design BOM helps in this.Once you design is ready you can generate Production Orders base on MRP generated with reference to Projects.
All the cost including overheads are charged to the Project as actual cost.
These costs are later settled to Cost Center.

I use both JBuilder and Eclipse, but to be honest, I never created a GUI with any of them. In my experience, at least some GUI-creators produce a lot of junk - the GUIs always looked different during runtime than they did in the editor window. Do it like I do and manually code them.

Should I use an IDE for GUI development?

I have never wrote a GUI before and am wondering if I should use an IDE such as Glade (or something else) or if I should write everything by hand? I want to develop with GTK. What do you guys suggest?

Also the reason I was thinking of using GTK was because I am making a front end for a project I wrote in C. From looking around it seems people like QT over GTK. Is it difficult to use QT (C++) with C code?

A lot of informal polls I've seen indicate coding GUIs by hand is more common than using a designer. That said, there is nothing "wrong" with using a designer and they can be extremely helpful in some projects.
To put it simply--try both and find what works best for you and your project. That is what you should use.
Same goes for using an IDE. If Vim gives you everything you want, great. If you love Eclipse and use it for everything, well that's great too. Choice FTW!!
No one can make these decisions for you (except your boss... )

NetBeans IDE for Mono development

Hi! Good day. I just wondered if NetBeans will support editor, debugger, etc. for Mono project? NetBeans claims to be the only IDE we need, it current has the features of PHP, C/C++ development, and why not Mono? Because currently in my work I was writing Mono code with MonoDevelop (since no VisualStudio for Linux), and I don't like this MonoDevelop IDE, that's why I was wondering if NetBeans will support this Mono development? Ahh... Crazy me. Hehe.. Thanks.

Workshop IDE for WebLogic Platform - JSF Portlet Development

Hello,
I am trying to develop JSF based portlets using BEA Workshop for WebLogic Platform IDE. The capabilities of the IDE in terms of JSF is like a simple text editor. Since the IDE is eclipse based, I wanted to to use some Third Party Plugin for JSF development.
I evaluated the following:
1. Workshop Studio for JSF
2. MyEclipse PlugIn for JSF
Problem 1:
Workshop Studio for JSF is a separate product and cannot be installed as an plugin over the Workshop IDE.
Is this acheivable?
Problem 2:
I created a Portal application Workspace through Workshop for Platform and opened the same using Workshop Studio for JSF. It crashed saying some runtime exceptions.
Problem 3:
MyEclipse PlugIn for JSF doesnt integrate properly with Workshop IDE. The Faces navigational flow view is not working properly.
Questions:
1. What is BEA's recommendation for JSF development?
2. Can you guide me how other developers are using the IDE for JSF development?

Unfortunately, in the current release the JSF features cannot be used to create JSF portlets.

If you are planning on building JSF web applications, you can always evaluate and purchase a copy of Workshop for JSF or Workshop Studio.
if you are planning on building JSF based pportlets, you will need to sue the tooling provided by Workshop for WebLogic 9.2
Applications built in Workshop for WebLogic cannot be imported into Workshop Studio. On the other hand, you can always create a webapp in Workshop Studio,a nd then import it into Workshop for WebLogic as a component.

I was searching for this, too, and as I recognized the CodeWarrior Wireless Studio 7, PDA Edition, ist was about one week too late: Metrowerks cancelled the developement of this product at Nov. 1st 2003. CWWS 7 came up with a debug-enabled Jeode VM...
On their home page they told, that there are many other "free" products, so the further development doesn't remunerate anymore.
But I don't know these products, I can't find them...does anyone know, what products they are talking about?
So far I'm developing with Borland JBuilder 9 Personal Edition, using the SDK 1.1.8 or 1.2.2 from SUN.
But sometimes I REALLY would appreciate it, if I would have a remote debugger.
In General, you can use any IDE for PersonalJava development, you just have to use the old SDK's mentioned above.

About ODMr for product design and development.

how ODMr can be used to find patterns of desingers' behaviors when they create new design for a product?
In general, designers tend to change their design to satisfy needs required by customers or technicians.
Is ODMr able to find which design parameters are most contributive to the performance of a product?
Is it ok to use Decision Tree if I have hypothesis space for desing parameters and training data?
I want to use ODMr to improve R&D process.
But I'm sure it is a smart way to use ODMr for product design and development.

I would think if you are going to run both of those programs at the same time, or even one at a time, a system with discrete graphic would be a better fit for you.
The next question is if you are doing web design do you really need a retina display. At this time only apple has them so everyother computer viewing your web designs wouldn't see the difference, if there is any to begin with.

Good IDE for JSP/Servlets Development

Guys, I was looking for a good IDE for JSP/Sevlets development. I for myself wouldn't need or atleast wouldn't want to have one, but for our production they say they need one. So please can u guys advise one. I have downloaded and tried JDeveloper but it just hangs, dont know but looks like its too memory intensive. Any suggestions??? Thanks in advance

IBM's Websphere Studio Application Developer (WSAD) is a good one. It can also connect to any CVS servers, which allows you to control the versions. Hope this may help you...

Need advise on selecting the IDE for swing UI development

I'm looking for a best IDE for developing swing application.
Our application is a Rich Desktop Client Application which will have more than one hunderd screens. And all the business logics will be J2EE EJB services.
At the initial stage, we thought of using the .net winform technology as Desktop Rich GUI for its best look & feel and productivity perspective, by invoking the business services thru webservices.
But later, we decided to use swing components which are somewhat promising now-a-days. This will avoid the multi-platform issues, maintainability and perfomance difficulties.
I would be so much grateful, if somebody could share me their experience on deciding the IDE which would be the best for Swing development currently.
If any one has the list of different swing UI builder IDE and the feedback list correspondingly, could you post them?

I experienced both NetBeans and Eclipse recently. I did not work in-depth in any of these IDEs for swing application. All the observations are from my first impression on them.
Please find the below are my feedback on both of these IDEs from my experience in the swing application development perspective :
Net Beans
Advantages:
1. Palette Manager option is good -> I can add the custom components to the palette very easily and make them available to use them readily.
2. IDE Layout / Framework is impressive -> In the swing design mode, the palette, properties, inspector and source all are evenly arranged in a way that things can be managed smoothly. It's very impressive.
3. Swing Components Alignment options are good -> IDE is very smart in arranging the swing components in the Panel or Frame. Even it helps the user by showing the alignment lines in the background. So we can definitely say that Net Beans has come in much better shape.
Disadvantages:
1. I am not allowed to change the generated code in the IDE.
2. I can't change the component name or event method name, other than the IDE generated one.
3. Additional Design codes will be reflected only at the runtime, but not at the design time. Here the developer is loosing the flexibility of using the code changes that impact the design.
Eclipse - Visual Editor
Advantages:
1. Source and Design mode, both can be viewed simultaneously.
2. Source and design, both are in sync all the time. The user have the complete control with the code.
3. As everyone knows, the IDE is very powerful and ease of use.
Disadvantages:
1. I can't add any custom components to the palette to make it available for ready use. Only option is 'Choose Bean' to add the custom components. So I should remember the component name everytime while adding in the panel / frame.
I also tried few commercial plugins with Eclipse. Given below is my feedback from my experience,
1. Eclipse - JFormDesigner
Advantage:
1. It provides Palette Manager option and very smart in the swing components alignment settings.
DisAdvantages:
1. For the design mode, it uses JFD file and later java code will be generated from this JFD file. So what you are seeing in the design mode is JFD file, not our java source. Developer have no option to see the source changes in the design mode.
2. It is a commercial product.
2. Eclipse -> Jigloo
Advantage:
1. Easy to use.
2. Custom swing components can be added the Palette.
Disadvantage:
1. It is similar to Eclipse - Visual Editor, but the difference is in the look and feel of the palette and event handlings.
2. For commercial purpose, you have to purchase it.
I also tried the JBuilder, but seems that it provides the Eclipse - Visual Editor for Swing Application development.
I didn't try the IntelliJ IDE yet, for swing application development. Some of the forum responses tells that IntelliJ IDE is very powerful, but not recommended for swing application development.
Eclipse - Visual Editor is promissing and it's open source. As I'm beginner to the swing development, I might have some short vision on some of the above said items.
If somebody have a better comparison sheet and could share with us, I would be grateful.
