Does anyone know what the powerdial is for? Where I can dowload the software so that it can be reinstalled? It is creating SideBySide administrative error messages and will not open -

Why is there no information on the lenovo site for THEIR SOFTWARE - i.e. LVT??????????
Thought I would give Lenovo a try as have been very dissapointed in HP and Dell, but I guess there are NO good PC manufacturers!

The Power Dial is simply a Gadget Like window on the screen that shows you what the current status is of the CPU or Video Card. I cannot seem to get mine to open up properly like it should. When it did work properly it really doesn't do much really. You really are not missing anything. Kind of like the power switch on the front panel. It is mostly for show as all it does it adjust the power setting of the CPU.

There was one retaining bracket that came with the DVD optical drive, but I bought a Blu-Ray burner as my second optical drive, and I would like to install it using the tool-less retaining bracket that came with the first drive. IdeaCentre K330 BIOS and Driver Updates Windows 8 (8.1 64 Bit)

I have a IdeaCentre K330 (i7) which I bought 3 Years ago. I have now Windows 8 64 Bit (8.1). And my BIOS Version is DKKT23AUS (BIOS Date 06/10/2011). Is there a newer BIOS version available ? There is on Lenovo site BIOS version 15 (Version DKJY15AUS), but I don't know if that is newer than mine. Can someone help ?
I have checked the Lenovo page to search for newer Driver Version. And I realized that the United States Lenovo site is different from the Chineese Lenovo Site. In the Chinese Lenovo Site there are new Drivers listed for the Windows 8 64 Bit operating system and newer versions od Drivers, but in the United States site there is nothing. Is it because the Chineese Site is more frequently updated ? Can I download the Drivers from the Chineese Lenovo Site (for example Realtek Audio Driver)? Will there be problems ?

Ideacentre k330 GPU Upgrade

Hello, I currently own an Ideacentre K330 with an i7 2600 and a GT 545 Nvidia card. I'm currently trying to upgrade the GPU to an AMD R9 270 and have replaced the original PSU with a 500W Antec. Everything works fine using the new PSU and the original GPU.
However, when I replace the GPU with the R9 270, the PC Refuses to post. All that happens is the CPU Fan spins up incredibly fast, the GPU fans spin up, and I get no video or post beep.
I tested the GPU in another computer with the same 500 watt PSU I'm using on the K330 and the GPU was immediately detected on that system, so the GPU isn't faulty.
Can anyone help with this issue?

UEFI came out after the 5850 so thats just wrong its to do with the bios that lenovo uses, they have to test all the new gfx cards to make sure they work (or i should say make sure your system cant be upgraded much and have to buy a new one), the only thing most ppl have done is replace the motherboard around £50/$60 ish

New IdeaCentre K330 Won't Boot

Help - I just bought K330. Ran all Windows 7 updates. Ran fine. Everything OK. Then downloaded and installed MS Office Professional. When I restarted machine, it won't boot.
It displays the following message:
"No bootable partition in table"

i do hope you made a recovery disc for your system. If you had, insert the disc and set the bios to boot via optical device.

I know i have to get a new power supply too so i can get put a better video card in there. So if not a gtx 285 do you guys know of any other high end video cards near that level or beyond it that are smaller?

How were u able to upgrade the power supply?? i was trying to upgrade it.But the stock power suply that came with the computer which only has 205 watts Has a special connection that hooks up to the front of the computer which helps control gpu/cpu speed.. the "cool", auto and turbo" modes.. i called lenovo tech support and sales and they said they dont sell a power supply with those connections.. or are we talking about a different computer?? the k330..?? If u can help i would really appreciate it.. thank you..

Cannot Install Windows 2008 Server on IdeaCentre K330

Hi,
when i trying to install the Windows 2008 R2 i see blue screen when it reboots. Does anybody have the same experience?

I resolved it: issue was with media, with DVD, which caused BSOD. New DVD resolved the issue.
However: I've got a pretty serious issue with integrated network card, WinServer 2008R2 was not able to identify it and whatever driver i've got (from Intel or Lenovo, this is Intel 82579V chipset), it didn't work.
After researching i finally found the solution and hope it will help for somebody else. What i did:
- I launched autorun.exe from drivers DVD from Lenovo and identified what next executable it run (to install LAN drivers). It was 11002049.exe. It basically extracts LAN drivers, when i run it from console it showed that it couldn't expand files on DVD
- then I copied whole dvd to the hard drive and run this executable: it extracted files on the same folder
- then i navigated to ~/your DVD/PRO1000/Winx64NDIS62
- then i opened the file: e1c62x64.INF and updated it like i guy from other forum said:
The dirty details: e1c62x64.INF is the file [Intel] [Intel.NTamd64.6.1] <--- remove the second .1 here so it looks like this ; DisplayName Section DeviceID ; ----------- ------- -------- %E1502NC.DeviceDesc% = E1502.6.1.1, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1502 %E1502NC.DeviceDesc% = E1502.6.1.1, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1502&SUBSYS_00011179 %E1503NC.DeviceDesc% = E1503.6.1.1, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1503 %E1503NC.DeviceDesc% = E1503.6.1.1, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1503&SUBSYS_00011179 and then the above sections will be visible to the 2k8 inf parser.

K330 Recovery system - how does it work?

Hi, I'm about to buy K330 with i5 processor, but before I do, I'd like to know something about Lenovo Recovery System.
So did I got this right: When you work on computer, and want to save everything you've done, you press one button on top of the computer. In case the computer crashes or gets infected, you press the another button on top of the computer which is next to the button before, and the system restores with same documents and files that you had when you pressed first button.

As you need information regarding how to use OneKey Recovery in IdeaCentre K330. It recover the C drive of the computer to the factory default settings. With this operation, all of the existing data on drive C will be lost, whereas the content and format of the other partitions of the hard disk drive will remain unchanged.
OneKey Recovery is an easy-to use application. You can use it to restore your computer to the factory default settings.
Turn on the computer. When the Lenovo logo appears, press the F2 key on the keyboard to start the Rescue System, then you can select OneKey Recovery.
Follow the onscreen instructions to select the backup task you want to restore from and disk you want to install operation system, and press Next to start restoration.
Please wait during the process of system recovery. Do not interrupt the operation during the recovery process.
After the system is recovered successfully, the software prompts to restart the computer. Restart the computer and enter the system.
Note: System Recovery will overwrite all of the data on drive C. To prevent loss of data, be sure to back up relevant data before performing system recovery.

Looking to upgrade the video card and power supply in the K330

Hello, I'm looking to upgrade the power supply and video card in the Lenovo IdeaCentre K330 but I need to know if these parts will be accepted by the mobo.
Here's the card name (no link, don't know if theres a restriction to off site links) ASUS 2GB GDDR5 DIGI+ VRM technology Graphics Cards HD7770-2GD5
The power supply name follows: Xion High Performance 1000 Watt ATX Power Supply XON-1000P14F

Feedback? And main question is, will they both (video card and PSU) be compatible with the motherboard that come standard in the K330?
I don't really have a need for the front panel except the power, and backontrack buttons.
Also, the reason why I'm getting a high wattage PSU is because I might later decide to build my own PC with the upgraded parts, and put the old parts back into the K330

As of June 26, 2011 U.S.A. has not been added to the Online Product (base warranty) Registration page. WOW! It's was noticed and reported nearly 3 months ago so I also left feedback to WebMaster.

DVD/Blu-Ray Combo Drives

I am also confused about the abilities of a drive marked as "Blu-ray /DVD Combo". I am interested in purchasing an IdeaCentre K330 - 77273GU with this drive option (instead of the IdeaCentre K330 - 77273HU which comes with a "DVD Recordable" drive). There is not much information regarding part numbers or specific manufacturers of this drive. The only link I can refer to is the product page:

Is it safe to assume that this drive would have DVD and CD (and possibly blu-ray) writing capabilities even though the world "recordable" is nowhere in the product description? Does this mean the drive only reads these kinds of discs and cannot write to them? If there is any way to know for sure if this desciption implies that it is fully capable of writing DVDs and CDs in addition to playing blu-ray discs, I would gladly appreciate a response!

Finding a scene/shot for a image

Hi all
I have a JPEG image(frame from a video). I need to scan the video and find the scene corresponding to the image and only the scene has to be played back. Please provide me with some suggesstions as to how this can be implemented. Does JMF provide any support to perform this?

Hello, I had the same problem on my Ideacentre K330, which includes de ATI Radeon HD 6450, which is very underpowered to play Call of Duty WAW. I looked for advise and finally decided for XFX Radeon HD 5670 with 1GB of DDR3 RAM. There is a version with DDR5, the cost fluctuates between $70 and $100 if you but it via Amazon, depending on brand and memory type (ddr3 vs ddr5).
My experience has been that this card plays nice with the 280W PSU, it does consume a little more power than the former video card, but it is much more powerful, Windows 7 index performance experience jumped from 5.0 to 6.8!
You will notice a little more heat when playing hard, but nothing critical, and it does not happen during normal operation (watching movies, browsing, etc). Whatever the case, this video card does not disrupt the cool and silent operation of the Ideacentre K330, I suspect it will be the same for your PC.
You may also consider the Radeon HD 6450, it would be an enhancement considering your actual graphics setup, this video card cost less and operates very cool and silent, but you will be dissapointed when playing heavy games like call of duty.
BTW, the OEM version of the HD 6450 included in my K330 is a skinny, trimmed down version of the commercial product, looks like custom made for Lenovo's PCs I guess. The commercial version may be more power demanding than the OEM.

Does ThinkVantage System Update work with IdeaCentre desktops?

As in the title ... does the TVSU function correctly with IdeaCentre desktops? I recently pruchased a K330 7727-3GU and receive a "no applicable packages" message before System Update finishes it's search.
If System Update does not work with IdeaCentre hardware then do we have to manuually download drivers and sw updates?

Idea systems and Think systems are two different systems with 2 different software packages.
TVSU won't work with Idea systems. Yes, you manually update drivers and packages.
TVSU is usually a little behind anyway with current updates. Updated drivers get posted to the driver page first, then they go into TVSU.
Idea systems have their own versions of power management, internet access management, and security suite.
Start, all programs, under Lenovo, you'll find the applicable utilities for the Idea systems.
Think systems have them under Thinkvantage.

Radeon 5450 compatible with IdeaCentre?

Hello, I'm looking to purchase the Lenovo IdeaCentre 1169XF1 (Is this the k330?) from Newegg: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883108695 and I'd like to buy a dedicated video card as well. However, the 280 watt power supply somewhat limits my options. After doing some research, I found that the Radeon 5450 consumes very little power. Unfortunately, I'm seeing a lot of people saying that the 5450 is not compatible with the Lenovo ThinkCentre line. Would this also be the case for IdeaCentre systems? Thanks.

I understand that it has a free PCI-e slot and that in theory, any card that fits should work, but like I said earlier, it's been reported by multiple sources that the 5xxxx series of Radeon cards aren't compatible with the ThinkCentre series motherboards. They fit, but the machines won't boot.

Unless you're saying that you know that the IdeaCentre motherboards don't have the same restrictions?
A 6450 is an option, but it's slightly more expensive than the 5450 where I am, it's reported to have overheating issues and it's only negligibly more powerful than the 5450 for what I need it to do.

K330 Video card upgrade question.

New to forum and was just about to pull the trigger on a new K330-77471CU (from BB). However, I read a customers comment saying that this unit only had an AGP port, no PCI express slots for upgrading the video card, can this be true??? Does'nt seem possible today. The desktop overall will fit my needs, but I want to make sure that if I elected to upgrade the video card someday, I could with the latest generation cards.

thanks for the reply Duck3. The above desktop is a new release for BB stores and features i3-2100 / 8mgs memory / 1 T HD. Not a high end unit by any means but one that you would think would allow the user to upgrade the integrated vid. card to a dedicated ........ hmmmm , I'm hoping perhaps a rep from Lenovo will jump in and clear this up so I can make a decision on this particular desktop. I highly doubt our local BB sales rep is going to know the answer to this. These things just hit the shelves here. And yes, the customer was giving his review of the above mentioned model he just purchased.
