IdeaCentre K450 "no signal" with monitors (VGA and HDMI)

I purchased a K450 (from the lenovo online outlet, refurbished) in December. I got an Acer H226HQL 21.5" monitor at the same time, and set up everything at once. I used the VGA cable to connect the monitor. Everything was working perfectly until a couple weeks ago. I went to wake up the computer and the monitor remained black. I pressed the power button to turn it off completely and turn it on again, "no signal" stil on the monitor. I've tried using the HDMI cable with the acer and the 8 year old monitor from my last desktop (with VGA cable) and still no signal. Checked the power strip, it's working fine. I'm at a loss!
I did run updates on firmware for everything, including the graphics, when I set up the computer. I'd check on the firmware for the graphics card, but it's hard to without a working monitor. Also, not sure if it's relevant at all, but it was running windows 8.1.
Is there anything else I can do to fix this?
Thank you!!

i used wm class 'WmiMonitorConnectionParams'  to determine Video output technology connection type and InstanceName.

But unable to determine monitor having  its corresponding values? please help me to find a solution .
is there any other method to get multi monitor details?
    thank  you

    Hi sumith,
I read some documents about WmiMonitorConnectionParams class, it should be able to get the video putput technology by the D3DKMDT_VIDEO_OUTPUT_TECHNOLOGY enumeration.
    D3DKMDT_VIDEO_OUTPUT_TECHNOLOGY enumeration
So what happens when you are using WmiMonitorConnectionParams class? What prevent you? Anyway, please see a example of using WmiMonitorConnectionParams class, maybe you could get some hints on it.

I would suggest you visit an Apple dealer, preferably an Apple Store if there's one in your city, and ask for assistance in determining what you need. The questions and issues you bring up are rather complex to address in a technical support forum and would be better addressed in person where you and the salesperson can ask questions back and forth to arrive at the optimal setup.

  • HT4279 I have a Macbook Pro (late 2012) and I would like to connect it to 2 screens simultaneously (1 screen is a TV and can only take HDMI, the other is a larger computer screen and has both VGA and HDMI connections). How can I do this?

I have a Macbook Pro (late 2012) and I would like to connect it to 2 screens simultaneously (1 screen is a TV and can only take HDMI, the other is a larger computer screen and has both VGA and HDMI connections). How can I do this?

The article you cited refers to The Mac Pro, a 50lb silver tower -- not a notebook computer.
    Everymac.com says:
    2nd Display Support:
    Dual/Mirroring*
    2nd Max. Resolution:
    2560x1600 (x2*)
    Details:
*This model supports a simultaneous maximum resolution up to 2560x1600 on two external displays via Thunderbolt. Alternately, it can support a single display up to 2560x1600 via Thunderbolt and a single display up to 1920x1200 via HDMI. Although it can theoretically power all three external displays, as confirmed by a helpful reader, it runs too hot with three displays connected.
Also see: How many external displays can the Retina Display MacBook Pro models support? What is the maximum supported resolution of each? Are adapters required?
When using other than ThunderBolt displays, the ThunderBolt port is directly compatible with Mini DisplayPort, and can be forced into compatibility (with Single-Link DVI or HDMI up to 1920 wide) with a simple adapter.
To adapt to wider displays, an ACTIVE Dual-Link adapter is needed, about US$100.

  • Reinstall win 7, VGA and HDMI driver

    Hi everyone,
    2 problems
1.I treid to reformat my hp probook 4320s and reinstall windows back to factory settings. I made a recovery disk when i first got it (at least im sure i did) and when i try to boot it says windows is loading files, i see the white bar accross the bottom moving along until 2/3rd of the way then it stops. Ive left it for 8 hours this way and it remains frozen. did i not create the disk properly?
    2. So instead i had a spare win 7 and reinstalled using that, i suspect the VGA and HDMI drivers are missing or something because now when i connect an external monitor via these 2 ports nothing comes up whereas it did before i reinstalled.
Does anyone know which specific drivers i need? I looked on the support page but iv eno idea which one i need.

    Hi:
Since your model can have either the Intel or AMD/Intel switchable graphics, there is no way of telling without some additional information.
Go to the device manager and click to expand the Display Adapters category.
When the graphics drivers are not installed, you will see a device labeled Standard VGA Adapter.
If you see one listing of a Standard VGA adapter, then install the Intel HD graphics driver.
If you see two listings of a Standard VGA adapter, then install the AMD graphics driver.
The AMD graphics driver will install the drivers for both the AMD and Intel switchable graphics processors.
As far as the recovery disk not working, it is anyone's guess as to why.
You can order a set of recovery disks by contacting HP for the country you live in at the link below.

  • VGA and HDMI

I am going to buy a new monitor. My firend suggested me to buy a TV instead. I have an ipad 4 and a macbook air. I also have lightning to VGA and mini display to VGA. Most of the TVs have HDMI input not VGA. I am planning to get a VGA to HDMI converter to fix it. Will it work?

Instead of getting a VGA to HDMI converter, get a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter and a HDMI cable, so you don't need a converter and there are more chances to make your TV work with your MacBook Air. See > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4241
The main benefit of using HDMI is the possibility to use a HD resolution on the TV if it allows you to use one of those

  • My macbook air won't detect display when trying to hook up with mini port and hdmi cable

The screen turns blue and all it just won't show arrangments and then mirro display.. help!

Try it, a complete power off/on!
MacBook Air using Sony TV as monitor via Thunderbolt and HDMI.
I could not get my 32inch Sony Bravia to "see" my 2102 MBAir using the Thunderbolt-to-HDMI adapter and a known good HDMI cable.
So I took my MBAir to my local Apple Store,Encinitas California, along with the TBolt Adapter and a known good HDMI cable.
The salesman tried the same connection from my Air to their 40inch Sony Bravia using my cables.  It worked perfectly. The Apple salesman advised  I return home and make the same connections to my 32" Sony, turning it off and back on.  I realized I had already done that test several times.  Then, it occurred to me that _Sony "off "using the Sony Remote Control is not the same as _Sony off completely. So I returned home and disconnected the AC power from the 32" for over 30 seconds then turned it back on with the Air &Sony connected via the Thunderbolt-to-HDMI connection and  with the MBA turned on. The image came right up on screen and is still working.  So, is this yet another case of " when in doubt re-boot" ?

  • VGA and HDMI Problem

    Hello all,
I had my mac mini 1.83 Intel connected to my Mitzubishi 63927 via the PC connection a VGA 1920x1080 with the VGA to DVI interconnecter. I wanted to see if the quality would be better with a DVI to HDMI connecter. So I shut down my mini and switched out the cables. The resoulition was jacked! I had to scramble to the video prefrences and change the resolution to something else. 1024x768 I could see the screen. I tweaked the setting to 1920x1080 (interlased). I looked worse the the VGA connection. So I powered down and and pluged in the VGA connection back in. I computer starts up fine but there is now Video. A black screen. There are ocaisional bars of light that go across portionial to the resolution i selected in the DVI to HDMI video preferences. I loward the res in the DVI to HDMI connection sceeme tryed all variations. I VGA connection will not work. What do I do.

With the TV and mini hooked up over VGA, try starting in Safe Mode (hold down the shift key during a restart) and see if you get a useable screen that way. If you do, go into Display Preferences and select the resolution you desire (1920 x 1080). Then restart normally and hopefully that resolution will stick and you will be back to where you started when all was good.

  • Projected Image size different using VGA and HDMI

From my ipad mini with a VGA connector I get a full screen image on an Epson projector but a much smaller image using an HDMI connector - How can I get a full screen with HDMI?

Good to know there are no menu's I have missed.   There are 2 things between the iPad and the projector - the HDMI cable and the mini display / HDMI adapter.  So as changing the HDMI cable did not help it must be the adapter.   Just to add I'm pretty sure the problem first arose after i upgraded to 8.1.2

  • Using TV as display with mini dvi and hdmi connections

    Hi
I want to use my flat screen tv as a display for my airbook. I have a mini dvi to hdmi connector (supplied with my mac) and an hdmi cable. When I connect, I can see my wallpaper on the tv and my cursor but nothing else. I can move the cursor on the tv with the trackpad on my mac but there are no icons, toolbars etc. What am I doing wrong and can anyone help?

If you want to see your desktop (icons, menus, etc.) you need to go into Apple Menu: System Preferences -> Displays and select "Mirror Display" under the Arrangement tab. There is also an option that allows you to move the menu bar over to the external display.

  • 24" TV with VGA and HDMI and speaker connection?

Bought a 24" LED TV that has VGA input.   Two to three inches to wide for a monitor, but got this one because of price and the VGA input.  It also has a HDMI input.  Previously when doing a search for TV with PC input the results would bring up listings that did not have PC input listed in the specifications.  So much for search engines.
Would I be better off using HDMI input instead?
Wide screen is nice but not so much for monitor use.  Everything is stretched horizontally on monitor.  Have not yet found a setting to make this wide screen not be so wide for PC usage.
The manual shows, a picture, to connect PC speakers to monitor and another cable from PC to TV.  Do not even know what size the jacks should be for cable.  What cable should I be looking for?
Any other advice and experiences would be appreciated.

    Hi,
LED TVs are digital and the best video display is going to be using a digital signal.
The techncial specifications for the TV should inform you what digital resolutions that the TV will accept.

  • How do I connect my Mac Mini (DVI) to a monitor (VGA) and 2 TV's (HDMI)?  What equipment do I need?

I have an older Mac Mini with a DVI out.  Right now using a monitor with VGA in, and since my Mini came with the adapter, all is good.  However, I'm trying to use this setup to also connect 2 50" TV's that have HDMI's.  What would be the proper setup in order to run the mini and the monitor along with the TV's?  Thanks!

  • No video signal with docu cam and projector

School teacher's Thinkpad connected to avervision document camera, and document camera to an overhead projector.   Image throught the projector of what's under the document camera is fine.  When we want to project what's on the computer screen (movie, etc.), and switch to "computer" on the document camera, the laptop screen goes black, but the projection is visible through the projector.  Is there an FN fix or some other way to fix this?

Yes, its an HD sequence, I want to view it in component but I'm using a SDI-Monitor also (which strangely gets an audio signal, but still no video)
I can't find anything like that in the 'Select output processing'-box, even after updating to 9.7.8 (released on Friday)...
It doesn't make any sense to me. Why would it work with AE and BM Media Express but not with Premiere CC?
My BM Decklink is not the newest model, but I don't think thats the problem.
It still seems to be supported by the software and it works with AE.
I'm going to change my graphic card from GTX 780 to NVIDIA quadro, lets see whether that will get me the result I'm hoping for, but tbh I'm giving up...

  • Having problems connecting iPad 4S to monitor with Apple adapter and HDMI cable.

Purchased an Apple adapter to connect to an HDMI cable.  The connections were secure and the image on the iPad was duplicated on the monitor; however, there was a lot of "snow" on the monitor.  I tried turning off the power to the iPad and then starting back up, but that didn't work.  Once when checking the connections the image cleared for a few seconds, but then the "snow" came back.  Any ideas?

sounds like either an issue with the HDMi cable, or the connection at the TV possibly.
Try another HDMI port on your TV if there is one, or a different cable.

  • Generate signal with variable pulsewidth and period

    Hallo,
I want to generate a square signal where I can modify the pulswidth, period, amplitude, frequenzy, duty cycle...at the Front Panel.
I also want to be able to generate just a a single puls/period on the one hand and a puls-train on the other.
    I´am working with a AT-MIO-16E-1(DAQ-Card), a SCB-68 and LabView 7.
I`d be very grateful, if anyone is able to help me...
    Thanx a lot...
    Greets Daniel

    Daniel,
It sounds like you are trying to generate digital pulses using your DAQ board.  The counter output is designed to be a digital signal.  That is, the amplitude of the signal is either 0 V or +5V.  Therefore, the amplitude cannot be controlled.
However, there are some great examples in the LabVIEW Example Finder that will help you implement your two options.
Access the Example Finder by navigating to Help >> Find Examples...  Then go to Hardware Input and Output >> DAQmx >> Generating Digital Pulses. There are several examples there which you can check out to get you started.  The most interesting to you are likely Gen Dig Pulse Train-Continuous.vi and Gen Dig Pulse.vi.
I hope this gets you started in the right direction.
