IdeaCentre Q190 Wifi problem, Win 7 Pro 32, 64b

I bought a couple of Lenovo IdeaCentre Q190 and all have a problem with Wifi.
The operating system is Windows 7 Professional SP1 32b and 64b.
I downloaded the official drivers Realtek 8188EE Wifi for Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit) - Version: 2007.2.0720.2012.
The installation went well, the computer is "hooked" on a wireless network, but it is not possible to open any web page. Various things I've tried (I do not even know what I tried everything) and some up and running and some not.
Another situation is to work on a Wifi router when it is moved to a different location with different wifi router, then again will not work.
Install any USB Wifi and it works perfectly.
So far I have installed several thousand machines and never had a situation like this.

hi MarkoG,
Welcome to the Forums.
Can you try to:
1. Install version 2010.9.0906.2013 from station drivers:
2. When done updating the drivers, open the wireless card properties under Device Manager > Network Adapters > Advanced Tab and set the following :
Roaming Aggressiveness = High
Transmit Power = Maximum
Source driver
Hope this helps

  • IdeaCentre A320 wifi problem

I have just bought a Lenovo Ideacentre A320 is a very stylish 'All in One'  desktop that is spoilt by some bad faults, the worst of which is the Wifi adapter. It will not connect unless it's right on top of the router which makes Wifi rather pointless. My         office is 20ft from the router where my old Sony laptop and a Galaxy tab get a good signal. I have checked all the drivers and updated my Netgear DG834g V3 Router to the latest firmware but to no avail. Lenovo Support were not very helpful  and         could only suggest that I sent the whole lot back to Amazon for a replacement which would be a lot of hassle and  I am not      confident that it would solve the problem. Can anyone suggest a better solution or is the Broadcom 802.11n adapter just not up to the job? My Router is a Netgear DG834G V3 802.11g which I believe should not be a problem, although I wonder if there are some settings on the Broadcom that might need tweeking.
    Any help much appreciated.
    Thanks
    Chris

As you have tried few possible solutions, kindly reload the Operating System and check if it helps in your case.
I hope this will work for you.

  • IdeaCentre Q190 Desktop no wifi on WIndows 8.1

    Hi
Windows downloaded the 8.1 update today but after installing and restarting I am unable to use the wirless adaptor in my IdeaCentre Q190.  The wireless adapter is showing with a yellow exclamatin on the device manager and stating "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)"
I have tried every single Windows 8 driver and the Windows 8.1 driver from the download support site and have the same issue every time. Any way at all I can get this working on Windows 8.1?
    Thanks
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I had the same problem after upgrading to Windows 8.1, but luckily found help on the link below through a simple google-search:
    http://ansionnachfionn.com/2013/10/18/win-8-1-wifi-and-lenovos-q190/
I my case, the first option did not work, but downloading and re-instaling the Realtek WIFI-driver for Windows 8 (not 8.1) fixed the issue - and my Q190 now once again has a wireless connection :-) :-)
The thing that annoyes me the most about this problem, is that the Realtek WIFI-driver for Windows 8.1 - that Lenovo lists on the support-page - doesn't work! Very poor quality-control, Lenovo! You should immediately post a note informing Q190-owners that they have to re-install the Windows 8-driver to get their WIFI-access back!

  • Strange wifi problem on a brand-new MacBook Pro

Hey there, I'm new here. Desperation has got the better of me, and I hope I can get some advice.
So, last sunday I bought a brand new 13" MacBookPro with 2.8g i7 processor and 10.7.2 OS (I can't update to 10.7.4 because System Update tells me the download has been tampered with or corrupted after I waited 2 hours for it to finish, but I'm trying a direct download from the website). Here's the exact product: http://www.amazon.com/Apple-MacBook-MD314LL-13-3-Inch-VERSION/dp/B005CWIZ4O/ref= sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1340301247&sr=8-5&keywords=macbook+pro+13
Everything is all perfect except for a strange wifi problem. Note that the wifi does not turn-on or off, it doesn't disconnect after 'sleep', it doesn't get less speed, it doesn't constantly leave a preferred connection (once I chose my home wifi it always connects to it no problem). The wifi bar is always full. What is wrong is that the internet is kinda 'glitchy'. The best metaphor I can think of is that it's like a car that has to be pushed down the road before the engine can start. Please, bear with me because this is kinda hard to explain and I'm not good at tech lingos.
One of the symptoms is browsing can get really slow and inconsistent, almost as if the wifi gets turned off in the middle of browsing. For example: if I look something up on Google and then open 5 new tabs, probably only 2 or 3 of those tabs will eventually load while the other two will not get past the long 'http:.......google.....etc etc' address and will eventually show one of those 'error loading page because there's no Internet connection' notice. This happens a lot. Sometimes I have to refresh/retry loading a page a couple of times before it finally loads, then usually everything will get back to normal and I will be able to open multiple tabs with no problem, but in a couple of minutes I would try to open another site and the problem will start again.
So I tried to see how it does with downloading using iGetter. Fortunately I also have a Macbook (white-plastic casing one) and my brother has an old 2006 MacbookPro so I can compare. With those two older Apples iGetter starts receiving data in less than 8 seconds after I click Start, while my brand-new Macbook Pro can take up to 15-20 seconds, sometimes it doesn't even start at all and I have to re-click the start button. But once the download actually starts (on my new MacBook Pro), it downloads like normal, it doesn't stop and the speed is also as good as I can get. Strange huh? Hence, like a car that has to be pushed before the engine starts.
I also tried 'speed testing' from a website with all 3 laptops. On my old MacBook and my brother's MacBook pro, once I click 'begin test' it takes only a couple of seconds of 'ping' before the download/upload speed measurements start, but with my new MacBook Pro (just like with iGetter) it takes up to almost a minute before the measurements start, sometimes it won't start at all and I have to re-start the test.
Well, thanks for reading. And hope you can help me shed some light into this. Because it is really preventing me from really enjoying my new MacBook Pro. And if this is most likely a hardware problem, I'd better get back to the store and try to get it replace or something while it's only been 5 days. *cheers*

Hey guys.. Thanks for the replies. Unfortunately, I bought the MacBook in Indonesia where there are no such thing as an AppleCare. The only option is to leave the Apple product to one of the 'Authorized Apple care centre' and have whoever do whatever to it without guarantee of success. As for returning it and getting a brand new one, I also don't know if there is such a deal here, but that's actually a good idea, will try to go to the store tomorrow. Although, I'm worried that the problem might be with OSX Lion or something and getting a new one won't help.
mark75090, I've tried resetting the router when I first noticed te problem, didn't work though. I've checked my new MacBook's wi-fi (option+click wifi bar) and it says 'PHY Mode: 802.11g', so does my MacBook and the old MacBook Pro. I don't know what those mean though, and I don't know whether or not my router is an N., can you tell me more please.. I have tried with the other two turned off, and only the new MacBook using the wi-fi but the problem persists. I have also tried connecting directly to the router, but as I described, the problem is too subtle for me to notice the difference.
Also, if I create a brand new Wi-Fi connection in network preferences and connect to my router through the new Wi-Fi profile, the problem seems to be gone for an hour or so, then it always comes back though. I have also just finally installed 10.7.4, but it doesn't help either.

  • Macbook pro 15 inch wifi problem (late 2011)

    Hello,
Here I write a little desperate with this problem that I have on the MacBook Pro (late 2011) with WIFI .
For several months ago, when I power on the MBP is all apparently normal , spend a few minutes and I lose the WIFI , the icon still comes out as "connected " but no WIRELESS signal , I turned off the WIFI, but, when I try to change back to turn ON, the icon of WIFI still OFF ( the inverted triangle ) . Restarting the MBP and still the problem no signal and appears as disabled , delete PRAM several times until finally everything works again , spend some time and again the same thing sometimes is fine for several hours, go out to eat and return and again the same thing, the worst was when I saw the message "Hardware not found" and "X " where the icon goes WIFI . I rebooted several times and not managed , this was the "hardware not found" message. Some time ago I went something like , when Lion had and read that resetting the PRAM and managed , never came out , but now even that it manages , and it is becoming more common , I thought it was the OS ( MacOSX Mavericks ) so I reinstalled (I'm not used Time Machine, I install all again ), this work the lasted several days without fail, until she passed again, I'm out of WiFi, when I see no WIFI signal in the list , restart me WIFI goes off and I can not change , restart it goes back to " hardware not found" and so on.
Now desperate for this, I opened the MBP , disconnected the cables from the Airport card and reconnected with care and making sure you are all well , turned on the MBP again and works!!, I lasted two weeks , then I thought it was that. But again the whole problem again.
Already investigating more online and I found some details from other users
1 / Both WIFI and Bluetooth are on the same card ( the q disconnected and reconnected )
2 / If the card was wrong , losing the WIFI Bluetooth should lose , but I tried Bluetooth and has no problems
3 / Reported that resetting PRAM or SMC but still, in my case, does not work.
Now all I have left to rule is the WIFI antenna that is located ( if I remember correctly ) for the bottom of the screen, and according to several users this tends to fail from constant use to close or open the MBP (or either to cover or uncover ) , and sometimes it just heats and heats close to this area .
Has anyone had a similar problem? My MBP turns 2 only on March 7, 2014 , I can not believe all that cost me and now is about to fail , I have a Sony VAIO Core 2 Duo for about 5 years (or more) ago and is still running and has been dropped many times and nothing has ever happened : (
Additional data on my MBP ,
Several months ago ( long before the problem with the WIFI) I changed the hard drive for an SSD ( 250GB Corsair Neutron X ) .
There is a problem that often makes me too, is that when you close the MBP ( to open ) , and open it back again ( out of sleep) the following happens :
1 / It instantly freezes when waking from sleep and I have a long wait to enter the password.
2 / When you leave idle normal let me put the password, but just when giving ENTER freezes
3 / Out of sleep, let me put the key, ENTER and when I load the desktop freezes
    Another problem :
This only happened to me a few times , as I mentioned , my MBP is formatted ( have Mavericks ) before formatted (clean install without time machine) , I closed the MBP ( I sent to sleep) and the open the screen was black , but as with bright, and not leave the state, turned off force ( pressing the button) , start the MBP again (power on) charged normal gray screen with apple but with a fairly low brightness, spent a few seconds and turned the brightness to normal and started normally .
I hope some can help me with these problems.
PD : I'm from Peru , if anyone knows a trusted service that please let me know .
    Thank you very much .

Your wifi problem sounds very much like the problem I had. The wifi would drop out, the icon showed it was still connected. If I turned it off, I couldn't turn it back on. Another user here pointed me to the problem, which was the wifi cable (the flat cable goint from the card to the motherboard). I found it on ebay for $13 and it's been running fine since I replaced it. This is the repair guide for your machine. The part number will be on there if you click the link.

Goodness.......why can't Apple do things right anymore.  Oh I forgot they sell iPhones instead of computers.

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

  • Strange macbook pro wifi problems - selective wifi disconnection

I have 3 macbook pros, two iphones and an apple TV.  My primary macbook pro has some very unusual wifi problems that are hard to pin down.  It frequently disconnects and reconnects itself to the internet constantly throughout the day.  I've been testing it in various ways and today I noticed the strangest anomaly by far.
While working today, my primary macbook pro could not connect to the internet through any of the 3 browsers I use.  Airport Utility said the internet was down (internet icon was amber, airport icon was green).  However during this disconnection, my p2p application (Soulseek) experienced no disruption of service and continued to download files.  I opened my second macbook pro and strangely enough, the 2nd mac was able to connect to the internet through browsers without issue, and the airport utility on the 2nd macbook pro said the internet was connected.  My Apple TV was connected too as well as my iPhone.
It is often difficult for me to troubleshoot network problems because there are so many variables (ISP, airport assembly, airport base station, OSX, airport utility, modem) but I guess in this particular instance, it seems clear that the problem has something to do with my macbook pro.
My primary macbook has always had wifi problems (and honestly, my last macbook--the one that actually worked today!--had similar issues back when it was my primary laptop).  Last week, my primary macbook pro had the topcase, display and logic board replaced by Apple.  When it came back, it had the same wifi connectivity issues it always had.  Often, a restart will be a very temporary fix, but not always.
I am at a complete loss for what could be causing these lapses in service.  In fact, right now as I was trying to access these forums, I could not even get my primary macbook to open the Apple Support Site on any browser.  Every other website would open, except Apple Support.  I opened my 2nd laptop and it opened Apple Support just fine.  After 15 minutes, my primary laptop finally opened up an Apple support page in Firefox.
It is really hard to diagnose the problem.  I find that Airport Utility has been so pared down and streamlined to the point that it is worthless.  It is basically a blank window with 2 application logos inside.  It looks very simple and user friendly until it has a problem, and then it tells me to do something very technical without an explanation for the layman (such as assigning DNS servers or putting the airport in Bridge mode).  I always follow Airport Utility's advice, but I still have odd problems.  I am often confused as to whether I should use Airport Utility or the Network button in System Preferences.  They have the same options, but they're arranged under tabs with different titles.
Anyway, does anyone recognize these macbook pro wifi connectivity problems?  Constant wifi disconnection on one machine (while all others experience no connection problems) coupled with instances of selective disconnection (like browsers not connecting while p2p is able to connect or browser connecting to some sites but not all?)
Thanks for any help or guidance

Same exact issue here. It happened once when I updated to Mavericks 10.9.2. It just happened again last night and I can't seem to fix it.
I tried all sorts of things like deleting the SystemConfiguration folder, PRAM, SMC, DNS flush, etc. Nothing helped. As I recall, the last time it happened it mysteriously fixed itself after a day or two.
Very weird problem. I have been troubleshooting computers my whole life but this one is tough to figure out. Other machines in the house connect up just fine.

  • Ubuntu 14.04 install on Lenovo IdeaCentre Q190 replacing Windows 8.1

I just purchased a Lenovo IdeaCentre Q190 and would like to replace Windows 8.1 with Ubuntu 14.04. As this is a secure boot machine, is there anything I need to watch out for besides disabling secure boot? I seem to remember that there is a boot partition that I need to leave alone (?) Is there a Lenovo tool installed that can save a copy of the drive as an image? I have already saved a copy of the system to a USB stick. There seem to be some issues in connection with installing Ubuntu 14.04 (booting, wifi, bluetooth) is there an overview of the install issues for the Q190 somewhere?
    Any advice appreciated.

If you are looking to entirely replace Windows on your drive, you can overwrite the entire drive, boot partition and all...
    BUT...
Since you seem to want to preserve your Windows installation, you can make your life a lot easier in the long-run by simply getting another hard disk drive and swapping it out for the one which you currently have installed. (If I understand correctly, the Q190 only supports one HDD at a time)
Then you can install Ubuntu on the empty drive and not have to worry about writing a massive .iso,
testing a massive .iso and at some point in the future trying to re-install a massive .iso.
Here's a link to the user manual:
    http://download.lenovo.com/consumer/desktop_pub/lenovo_ic_q190_ug_v1.0_win8_en_r_online_20130320.pdf
On page 31 it explains the BIOS options. Doing a UEFI Linux install is still quite unintuitive, though there are a few threads and video tutorials out there. If you're planning on using Linux, right now I would suggest good old legacy style.
An overview of Ubuntu install issues is a pretty tall order for any machine. External wifi and bluetooth dongles are generally a problem, though the problems are often remedied after finishing all of the recommended updates.
I could add more advice, but it will help if I know more about what you want from your machine.

  • K3011 windows 8.1 upgrade fixed Wifi problem

I just upgraded my K3011W from Windows 8 to Win 8.1 after I suffered under major Wifi problems. Poor connectivity or lost signal.  I did an inplace upgrade to Win 8.1 Pro but at first the Wifi problem remained -no connectivity at all.
Then I found the broadcom driver package  sp58848.exe at the HP website
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?cc=de&lc=de&dlc=de&tmp_geoLoc=true&software...
    which finally was the breakthrough.
After windows update everything runs just fine!

I am going to have to try this.  My problem with the Broadcom at this point after Windows 8.1 is that there is no longer a "Power Management" tab in the Broadcom properties, so everytime the tablet sleeps it turns off wifi, irritating.  You almost have to run the tablet with no sleep which really kills the battery.
But it makes sense there would be a Broadcom driver for a Lenovo tablet on an HP site.  Jeesh.

  • How do I use my Time Capsule to back up my wife's MacBook Pro running 10.4.

I just installed a Time Capsule. I've extended the range with two Airport Expresses. I've connected my MacBook running 10.6.3 to the wireless network. I've connected my wife's MacBook Pro running 10.4.11 to it. I've connected my wife's 3G iPhone to it and my first gen iPhone to it and our Apple TV to it. All devices can connect to the internet. I've connected the Time Capsule to the printer and printed wirelessly from both computers.
I've backed up my MacBook and seen that the Time Machine is backing up my MacBook as it should.
How do use the Time Capsule to back up my wife's MacBook Pro running 10.4.11? I've tried connecting them via ethernet cable and via USB cable. In both cases the Time Capsule failed to show up as an external drive and wasn't seen by the 10.4.11 back up utility.
How do people do this? (Other than convincing their wives to let them upgrade their MacBook Pro to 10.6.3?)

    James Elliott1 wrote:

That really is your best option. Sooner or later, you're going to have a problem with the "other" data on your Time Capsule, since the backups of your Mac will, eventually, fill up all the available empty space. That will, of course, limit the space available for the other backups.
There's a very cumbersome workaround in the blue box of #Q3 of the Using TIME MACHINE with a TIME CAPSULE *User Tip,* also at the top of this forum.
Another is to connect a USB drive to the Time Capsule, partition it if desired, and back up one Mac to it and the other to the TC's internal drive.

  • FaceTime Problem - MacBook Pro Retina

Hello everyone, as the title suggests, I have a problem with FaceTime.
During a video call (only a video call, during FaceTime Audio I don't have any problems) I hear and see the other person well, but the other person sees me and feels jerky, sometimes subtle, but sometimes that makes it impossible for the other person to understand me. Tried with three different people.
    how to solve?
It is not a wifi problem because I've tried with the iPhone and it did not give these problems ...
    Thank you!
MacBook pro Retina (13' late 2013) 512 GB

    Hi there,
I have the same computer as you, and I've noticed the same thing. Both facetime and skype have similar audio issues. I can seem to hear the other side fine, but my audio particularly breaks up a lot.
The audio though my phone is perfectly fine when I facetime though the same network using my iphone. I previously had a 15" macbook pro late 2011 and the audio was fine. I realize the microphones are different in this new retina (late 2013) model - though the audio problems seem to occur even with an external microphone as well.

    try this
: Remove Network Configuration & Preference Files
Manually trashing the network plist files should be your first line of troubleshooting. This is one of those tricks that consistently resolves even the most stubborn wireless problems on Macs of nearly any OS X version. This is particularly effective for Macs who updated to Yosemite that may have a corrupt or dysfunctional preference file mucking things up:
Turn Off Wi-Fi from the Wireless menu item
From the OS X Finder, hit Command+Shift+G and enter the following path:
    /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/
Within this folder locate and select the following files:
    com.apple.airport.preferences.plist
    com.apple.network.identification.plist
    com.apple.wifi.message-tracer.plist
    NetworkInterfaces.plist
    preferences.plist
Move all of these files into a folder on your Desktop called ‘wifi backups’ or something similar – we’re backing these up just in case you break something but if you regularly backup your Mac you can just delete the files instead since you could restore from Time Machine if need be
    Reboot the Mac
Turn ON WI-Fi from the wireless network menu again
This forces OS X to recreate all network configuration files. This alone may resolve your problems, but if you’re continuing to have trouble we recommend following through with the second step which means using some custom network settings.

  • 10.10.1 Bluetooth-linked Wifi problems continue

I upgraded to Version 10 in fall 2014 and immediately had WiFi problems: intermittently page loads would either timeout or take a long time. Eventually, I realized is was caused by my Bluetooth connection. So, I have ditched my external screen, keyboard and mouse for the last few months.
I have just tried switching on bluetooth for the 1st time in months. And guess what? No internet pages load via WiFi. I switch bluetooth off and it works (hence I can post this comment!).
This is kind of annoying and I am completely shocked that we are now on 10.10.1 and it's still not solved. Anyone solved this or have the same problem?
    MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012)
    2.6 GHz Intel Core i7
    8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Intel HD Graphics 4000 1024 MB

OK. This is getting more interesting. I am at the office today - so a different WIFI and still the same problems with Internet connection when Bluetooth is switched on. However, I noticed this: I switch on Bluetooth and Internet does not work (sometimes with Bluetooth on it works but very, very slowly). I connect a Magic Mouse. I then use the mouse. It is almost impossible to use. There is a LAG an at some points it stops moving as if it has lost the signal. I had an idea: Switch off the WIFI. I did that, and the mouse works perfectly, immediately.
Conclusion: it's not just Bluetooth that interferes with WIFI signal. It's the WIFI signal that also interferes with the Bluetooth signal.
This is a MAC hardware problem as I have used different WIFIs and different Bluetooth devices. I believe, Googling this, that it might be the people like me that have this Mac: MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012)
I assume that Apple is not investigating that as it's a small subset of all Mac users.
