Ideal settings for warm, high quality voice over?

Are there ideal settings to get a high quality voice over? I am using a good Samson mic, but need guidance with the settings? I don't suppose there is an existing preset that could be applied for this--I imagine I'll have to create one.
Thanks.

There are plent of presets that will add ambience to the voice over, but to make it "warm" and not sound "recorded" isn't easy if at all possible using the presets in SB.
The best solution is to make sure the voice track is recorded at as close to "studio quality" as you can get before adding it.
"Egg crate" foam, carpet, fiberglass, mic baffling, all help to minimize background noise and that slight echo that can turn what would otherwise be a really good voice over into an amateurish sounding affair.

You have the accessibility VoiceOver feature turned on.
Triple click the home button and try going to Settings>General>Accessibility and turn VoiceOver off. You may have to use three fingers to scroll the screen to get there. If problems see the following for how to turn off via iTunes:

It sounds as if you only had one line with an upgrade available. So you can only upgrade one line. For you to upgrade as well, you will have to wait until your upgrade is available. You can check that at MyVerizon. That's just how it works. All carriers and phone brands are the same. I have to wait until February to upgrade. The only thing you can do to get the new iPhone, is add a new line. But then you're paying for a line you don't need.

  • VMware Fusion Ideal Settings for Best performance

Can someone please help with the ideal settings for VMware Fusion on mac for best performance.
    My Machine Details
    MacBook Pro (13-inch Late 2011), Mac OS X (10.7.3)
Processor : 2.8 GHz Intel Core
    Memory : 16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Storage : 750 GB SATA Disk
Graphics : Intel HD Graphics 3000 512 MB
Am using VMware Fusion Version 4.1.2
At Present the resources I have allocated for VMFusion are
    Processor      : 1 Core
    Memory         : 4 GB
    Thanks
    Brij

VMware Fusion doesn't slow down the Mac just because having it installed. You have 16 GB of memory in the computer and you assigned 4 GB for the virtual machine you have, so you shouldn't have any memory problem. Also, your Mac has got a great processor that run virtual machines without any problem.
If you feel your Mac slow while running the virtual machine, just reduce the amount of memory assigned to the virtual machine, depending on the operating system you have in the virtual machine. For example, I recommend 2 GB or more for Windows 7, and you can run Linux virtualized assigning only 512 MB of memory

  • Recomendations for Recording Quality Voice Over in Captivate

We have been working with Captivate to create training
materials for about six months and like it a lot. We are using a
lot of voice overs in our trainings. At the moment I'm using a mid
to low range headset to record the voice over. It is a step up from
your cheap VOIP headset but still isn't a high end model. It cost
about 30 euros. The quality is acceptable but could be improved
    upon.
I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations about
headsets/microphone recording equipment to optimize the quality
when recording voice in Captivate. Are there also any
recommendations about what sort of software is optimal? Are some
sound cards better than others etc? I've tried to find this info in
the Captivate documentation but haven't found any recommendations.
If anyone could give me your own experience or point me in
the right direction for any Adobe recommendations I'd appreciate
    it.
    Many thanks,
    Aimee

Don't use Captivate 2 or 3 built in audio recorder, it
introduces the degradations you experience. We use Adobe Audition
(now Soundbooth) to record and then simply import to the library.
You could of course use any external recording program, just don't
use the Captivate internal recorder and you will get pristine sound
    everytime.
To rerecord or add more to the recording simply right mouse
click from the library and it will launch Audition. Mono 44.1khz,
700 or better kbps for voice recording will result in an excellent
hiss free, no start or end click sound when you play. You must then
find the recording after you have saved your edit in Audition and
right click to update the new changes. It will update the file in
the library and the slide together.
When saving your recording use a naming convention such as
    module 1,chapter 1,slide1 (M1_C1_S1) that way multiple slide 1
recordings will not confuse you in the library when there are
multiple slide 1's from different chapters.

  • Can I modify the Export to... iTunes settings for better audio quality and compression?

I am working on some Music Videos to DJ at a party with, I notice that when I export them as .mov files with Final Cut HD Express, they have 320 kbps and 44.100 kHz in the audio compression settings. Once I export them in Quicktime 10.2, using the File / Export to... / iTunes drop down menu, the Second, (ipad, iphone 4, & AppleTV) setting (not using HD, so the Mac and PC tab is not an option.) The final exported file, that plays great in itunes, appletv, ipad, etc. has a reduced quality audio of Bit Rate of 159 kbps (instead of 320 kbps) and Sample Rate of 32.000 kHz (instead of 44.100 kHz). Is there anyway to change these preset settings somehow?
The Formats on the File / Export / menu are even less dinamic?
I also noticed that some of the Music videos I purchased from the itunes store some years ago, have a 256 Kbps and 44.100 kHz setting. Which is better quality than the ones exported from Quicktime 10.
I thought maybe with Quicktime 7 Pro, I could fine tune all the presets, but it got too complicated for me, might this be an option? What would the settings be?
Using Widescreen 853 x 480 at full quality .mov file.
    thanks.

Your question basically has too facets. The first is the quality of the source audio in terms of sampling rate and data rate. Under normal circumstances you don't want to export the audio using a sample rate or per channel data rate that is lower than your original source if you are trying to maintain the quality as high as possible and, on the other hand, you don't want to use settings greater than the source values since they increase the final file size without improving the quality of the audio.
The second is the workflow. Since you indicate you are using FCE HD for editing, then using QT X to re-export the data seems somewhat redundant. While it has been many, many years since I last used FCE HD, if I remember correctly, you have both "Export QT Movie" and "Export using QT Conversion" options. The first option takes the audio and video format in which you are editing and merely copies the edited data in that format to a new MOV file container. On the other hand, the second option allows you export the edited data format directly to a user selected compression format using user selected options (but does assume the user knows how to best use these options). These are, BTW, the same export options available in QT 7 Pro.
I thought maybe with Quicktime 7 Pro, I could fine tune all the presets, but it got too complicated for me, might this be an option? What would the settings be?
What is so difficult here? If the source is DVD stereo quality (usually 48.0 KHz @ 192 Kbps then set your output for stereo 48.0 KHz @ 192 Kbps. If you wish to save a bit of file space, the you can use 48.0 KHz @ 160 Kbps but that is normally as low as I go. As to setting combinations in QT 7 Pro, once you set the sampling rate, the application becomes cuntextually adaptive and will only allow you to select data rates that are "standards" compliant and non-compliant ones are automatically greyed out. Rendering quality settings are self-explanatory. These are the basics if you are using a preset option like the "Movie to MPEG-4" export option. If using more complex options like the "Movie to QT Movie" option, then you will need to also consider how you plan to use your file to select the correct encoding strategy. For instance, a constant bit rate is good for optical media from the standpoint of providing a constant flow of data to the player. Unfortunately, this is not very efficient since it forces the quality to vary as it maintains the constant data rate. A variable but contarined data rate is also good for optical media or fast start online files but allows the data rate to vary between user selected data rate excursions and thus provides improved quality over the constant data rate strategy. The variable data rate allows the user to target a specific level of audio quality and will then allow the data rate to vary as needed to maintain a constant level of quality. This option is better suited for playback on a computer since the bit rate can vary greatly in magnitude. The average setting allows the user to target a specific average target data rate but allows it fluctuate as the encoder applies predictor-corrector adjustments. This option, like the constant data rate option, is good for average complexity content when creating a target file of predictable size but can somtimes have problems towards the end of the file if the content suddenly becomes more complex than predicted.
Using Widescreen 853 x 480 at full quality .mov file.
I would rarely recommend using the full quality slider setting. This is more of a redundancy setting forcing the encoder to recycle through certain encoding routines in an effort to improve quality without increasing the data rate. You would like do better to increase the video data rate limit and decrease the quality slider to something in the 50 to 80% range. You also indicate the files are 853x480. Such files are frequently the result of anamorphic widescreen MPEG-2 or DV source files. If so, I would normally recommend retaining this anamorphic strategy by encoding the H.264 video at the same 720x480 matrix dimensions and allowing the player to properly display the files at their targeted aspect ratio. This strategy will either allow for slightly better quality at the current video data rate setting or allow the user to retain the current level of quality using a slightly lower data rate which, in turn, means a slightly smaller final file size.

  • I'm looking for a high quality image of the flower in the iPhone 5 the website.

There is a flower that is used in the apple website, for the iPhone 5. It is purple and yellow. I've been looking all over the web for it but cannot find an image of it that doesn't have a glare on it. I guess it is owned by apple, but I was wondering if anyone knew where I could find a high quality image of it. Unfortunately it is not included with the iPhone 5.

    Hi(Bonjour)!
I see on photo to movie spec page that you can export in full 1920 X 1080 H.264 codec, a high quality format usable in FCE.

  • Interface for Final Cut Express Voice Over

    Hi all,
I would like to do voice overs in FCE. I bought a reasonable quality XLR mic (Apex 415), and a USB interface (Tascam US-122L) for this purpose. The combo works fine for garage band, and shows up as a selection under input devices in my sound preferences. It also shows up in the dropdown list in the voice over tool in Final Cut.
When I try to select the device however, I get the error message
"The selected sound input device is unavailable. It may be in use by another application, disconnected or improperly connected, or may be conflicting with a video output device"
After hours of searching for some way to fix this problem, including a trip to the local Apple Store to speak with a Final Cut Expert (he wasn't very knowledgible), I am about to give up and return the interface.
    My questions are:
    1. Anyone know how to fix this problem (I bet it is fairly easy)
    2. Anyone have any other input devices that they can recommend for my Microphone? I have seen a lot of m-audio stuff on the apple website, any experience with their products?
    Eternally grateful for any help.
    Bjug

    Update....
I returned the TASCAM interface since no one had any bright ideas on how to fix this problem. I bought a an M-Audio Fast Track Pro. I hooked it up to my mic....and it works like a charm.
In case anyone was wondering what works.

  • Please review settings for maximum output quality

I’m looking for the highest possible quality on DVD SP standard definition DVD. My media is approx 25 minutes, 720 X 480 NTSC , 4:3 aspect ratio I’m working with FCP 5.1.4. So far from skimming the forums I would guess the best thing to do is export into compressor using these settings,
    Name: MPEG-2 6.2Mbps 2-pass 4:3
Description: Fits up to 90 minutes of video with Dolby Digital audio at 192 Kbps or 60 minutes with AIFF audio on a DVD-5
    File Extension: m2v
    Estimated file size: 1.29 GB
    Type: MPEG-2 video elementary stream
    Video Encoder
    Format: M2V
    Width: 720
    Height: 480
Pixel aspect ratio: NTSC CCIR 601/DV
    Crop: None
    Frame rate: 29.97
    Frame Controls: Off
    Aspect ratio: 4:3
    Field dominance: Bottom first
    Average data rate: 6.2 (Mbps)
    2 Pass VBR enabled
    Maximum data rate: 7.7 (Mbps)
    High quality
    Best motion estimation
Closed GOP Size: 15, Structure: IBBP
    DVD Studio Pro meta-data enabled
but only import Dolby into the DVDSP project. On the one I just burned I had to drag the audio to both A1 and A2 on the track should I have to? My real question is this the best way and best settings to maximize the quality of my finished project?

That's the way -- you're doing it. the alternative would be to export a quicktime movie from FCP and drag taht from the finder to Compressor.
The difference is that FCP is busy during encoding with the first option, and you can use fCP while encoding a QT movie. The quality difference comes from the fact that encoding directly from FCP will make use of an uncompressed image buffer that re-processes all your rendered material as uncompressed, which can help to avoid embeddeing DV compression artifacts in your source material.
    Hope this helps -

  • What are the ideal settings for my TC with Shaw's Cisco DPC3825 router/modem

My old 2nd Gen Time Capsule crapped out and now I am about to set up my new 2TB TC.  My provider is Shaw Communications and they have upgraded me to their Broadband 100 Mbps service.  This came with a new modem/router combo made by Cisco and is model DPC3825.  Before I start plugging things in I'd like to know what are the ideal settings such that I gain the most of the BB100 service.  Should I be setting the Cisco modem/router to Bridge mode or the TC?  Should I have Shaw disable anything?  Any insight is greatly appreciated.

Unless you specifically need to have the TC perform as the main router for your network, life will be a lot easier if you configure the TC to operate in Bridge Mode.
Whether the Cisco modem/router or gateway can possibly be configured to act as a simple bridge mode modem is one thing to consider.
Whether Shaw would support you in the event of any connection difficulties with the modem/router configured this way is another.
Since Shaw is your provider, it might make sense to talk with them about best practice as far as configuring the DPC3825.
Once you have that information in hand, you will then have the answer on how best to configure the TC.....which will very likely be in Bridge Mode.

  • What techniques for storing high quality & low size songs in iTunes

I use iTunes with an 80gb ipod for music on my Home Theater system. For this, I'd like to use Apple Lossless files (higher quality & I can afford the big files).
For the family iPods, I'd like to use 320kbps (good enough for iPods & small file size).
What are good techniques for keeping both size files on my iMac? I'd like this to be as simple as possible.

This is often asked and there is not any simple technique. The choices are to either keep two separate libraries (that would be my preference), or to keep separate playlists within a single library.
Note that once you get set up, any new files you add to the library will have to be manually handled to make sure that the 320 version gets added to the additional library/playlists.

  • Best Sequence & Export settings For Best dVD quality

I Have footage of a wedding shot on a sony VX2000. The quality on Screen while editing looks great, but once i export it and burn it on DVD studio, when viewed the quality turns boxy and grandular on whatever TV i view it on. Are there any suggestions for a good sequence setting and export setting to work well with dvd studio pro and not lose any quality?? Thank You.

of course you're gonna lose quality. compressing already compressed marginal dv25 video to mpeg2 results in extremely compressed video, no way around that.
however, depending upon the length of your video and if you're using single or dual layer dvd media, you can mess with the bitrates to vary the amount of compression. compression is an art of trade offs and constant experimentation. if you're using compressor, start with the high quality presets and start testing. mess with the gop structure, the avg. and max bitrates.
    good luck.
